Desde que llegara a Air Europa el primero de nuestros Boeing 787 Director de Planiﬁcación, Dreamliner, la aerolínea ha expeDesarrollo y Handling rimentado una importante transde Air Europa Director of Planning, formación. Su presencia en la ﬂota ha permitido contar con la tecnología más avanzada y estar listos para responder al aumento de la demanda. 2024 no va a ser diferente. Hemos incrementado las plazas disponibles en un 5% con respecto al pasado invierno. A ello contribuye tanto la incorporación de dos nuevos 787 en diciembre pasado como la llegada de otras cuatro aeronaves del mismo modelo a lo largo de este año. Lo anterior permite el despliegue de nuevas rutas y frecuencias. Reforzamos nuestra operativa en el norte de África, retomando los vuelos a Túnez e incrementando las conexiones con Marrakech. En América, Caracas y Asunción pasan a tener cinco frecuencias a la semana, mientras que Medellín y Panamá las incrementan hasta llegar a seis. En Ecuador, tendremos vuelo directo desde Madrid a Quito y Guayaquil, respectivamente, mejorando así de forma sustancial la operativa. Y en verano, volaremos a Venecia desde Madrid. Nuestra determinación por ofrecer la oferta más completa y la mejor experiencia para el cliente no sería posible sin el extraordinario esfuerzo que viene realizando, mes a mes, el equipo de tierra. Facilita todas las gestiones de pasajeros y equipajes desde nuestro hub de Madrid, así como desde el resto de bases, buscando la máxima puntualidad de nuestros vuelos y trabajando para elevar la satisfacción de los pasajeros. Decía que la clave está en contar en nuestra flota con un avión como el Dreamliner. En estos años, nos ha permitido transportar a más de 15 millones de pasajeros, no sólo en rutas de medio radio, sino especialmente en las transatlánticas. Gracias al 787, hemos logrado ser más eficientes reduciendo el consumo de combustible y optimizando los desplazamientos al contar con más asientos. ¿Hay una mejor combinación que conjugar sostenibilidad con confort? Since the first of our Boeing 787 Dreamliners arrived at Air Europa, the airline has undergone a major transformation. Not only in terms of innovation, but also of capacity, efficiency, and comfort. Their presence within the fleet has allowed us to be at the very cutting edge of technology and primed to meet increased demand. And 2024 will be no different. Compared to last winter, we have increased available seats by 5%, helped by the addition of two new 787s last December and the arrival of four more 787s this year. All of this has meant the deployment of new routes and enhanced frequency. We have strengthened our presence in North Africa, resuming flights to Tunisia and increasing connections to Marrakech. In the Americas, Caracas and Asuncion will now have five flights a week, while Medellin and Panama are increasing their numbers to six. In Ecuador, there will be a direct flight from Madrid to Quito and Guayaquil, respectively, substantially improving operations. And in summer, we will be flying to Venice from Madrid. Our determination to offer the most comprehensive service and the very best customer experience would not be possible without the extraordinary efforts of our ground team, month after month. It facilitates all passenger and baggage handling from our hub in Madrid, as well as from the rest of our bases, striving for maximum punctuality for all our flights and working tirelessly to boost passenger satisfaction. I mentioned that the key to this is having an aircraft like the Dreamliner in our fleet. Over the years, it has allowed us to transport more than 15 million passengers, not only on medium-haul flights, but especially on transatlantic routes. Thanks to the 787, we have managed to become more efficient by reducing fuel consumption and optimising journeys with even more seats. “Mi objetivo es que un objeto sirva y a la vez sea bello”. Miquel Milá (Barcelona, 1931) es el diseñador español más importante del último siglo, una leyenda viva cuyos objetos aún hoy resultan contemporáneos. A él se le dedica la exposición más importante dentro de Madrid Design Festival, la cita que, del 8 de febrero al 17 de marzo, lleva a la capital a los grandes nombres del diseño nacional e internacional. Diferentes localizaciones acogerán exposiciones, conferencias y encuentros; como las muestras Sillas: iconos del diseño moderno; Tejiendo Redes, sobre creadores que trabajan en entornos rurales (en la foto); o la VIII Muestra de Orfebrería Contemporánea. ENG “My aim is for an object to be both useful and beautiful at the same “time”. Miquel Milá (Barcelona, 1931) is the most signiﬁcant Spanish designer of the last century, a living legend whose objects are still contemporary today. The most important exhibition within the Madrid Design Festival is dedicated to him, the event that, from the 8th of February to the 17th of March, will be bringing the biggest names in national and international design to the capital. A range of venues are set to host exhibitions, conferences and meetings, such as the shows Sillas (Chairs): Icons of Modern Design; Tejiendo Redes (Knitting Networks), on creators working in rural surroundings (in the photo); and the VIII Contemporary Goldsmiths’ Exhibition. Es una de las fiestas más veneradas de Bolivia: el Carnaval de Oruro. Un encuentro que se remonta a la época precolombina, cuando el pueblo Uru realizaba rituales sagrados en Oruro, una ciudad que, tras la llegada de los españoles, continuó siendo lugar de culto para los indígenas. En la actualidad, en perfecta simbiosis, conviven la virgen del Socavón –popularmente, Mamita Candelaria–, la víbora, el cóndor, el sapo, las hormigas y hasta el arcángel San Gabriel y el demonio, protagonistas de una peregrinación hacia el Santuario del Socavón. Su momento culminante, cada sábado de carnaval, es La Diablada, baile con el que llegan a la iglesia los danzantes pidiendo un favor a la virgen y prometiendo bailar durante tres años para que se cumpla.

ENG The Oruro Carnival is one of Bolivia’s most revered festivals. Dating back to pre-Columbian times, when the Uru people performed sacred rituals there, after the arrival of the Spaniards the city of Oruro continued to be a place of worship for the indigenous people. Today, in perfect symbiosis, the Virgin of the Socavón - popularly known as Mamita Candelaria -, the viper, the condor, the toad, the ants and even the Archangel Gabriel and the Devil all come together in a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of the Socavón. The highlight, every Saturday of Carnival, is La Diablada, a dance that brings participants to the church asking for a favour from the Virgin and promising to dance for three years for it to be granted.

Artenara, a 1.270 metros de altitud, es uno de los municipios más mágicos de la isla. Este pueblo de montaña deslumbra por sus paisajes únicos y su cultura aborigen profundamente arraigada. La veneración por los espacios sagrados de montaña y las condiciones óptimas de la roca volcánica han servido para desarrollar la mayor población de Gran Canaria que habita en casas cuevas, gracias a la perdurabilidad de su construcción y su temperatura constante durante todo el año. En este enclave montañoso se conservan muchos espacios sagrados que nos hacen mirar al pasado y entender el paisaje de una forma mítica y mágica. El 7 de julio de 2019, la Unesco incluyó en la lista del Patrimonio Mundial al Paisaje Cultural de Risco Caído y las Montañas Sagradas de Gran Canaria, en el que destacan los monolitos naturales del Roque Nublo, el Roque Bentayga o la Cueva Calendario Astronómico de Risco Caído. Y en 2005, la Unesco declaró la parte sur occidental de Gran Canaria como Reserva de la Biosfera, en la cual se incluye Artenara. Además, su cielo libre de contaminación lumínica aporta uno de los mejores miradores de la isla para observar el cielo nocturno, aﬁanzándose así también como Destino Turístico Starlight.

Artenara, at an altitude of 1,270 metres, is one of the most magical places on the island. This mountain village is simply breathtaking, with its unique landscapes and deeply rooted aboriginal culture. The reverence for sacred mountain spaces and optimal conditions of the volcanic rock have led to the development of the largest population in Gran Canaria living in cave houses, thanks to their long-lasting construction and constant temperature throughout the year. Many sacred spaces have been preserved at this mountainous site that make us look back into the past and understand the landscape in a mythical, magical way. On 7th July 2019, Unesco included the Cultural Landscape of Risco Caído and the Sacred Mountains of Gran Canaria on the World Heritage List, which includes the natural monoliths of Roque Nublo, Roque Bentayga and the Astronomical Calendar Cave of Risco Caído. And in 2005, Unesco declared the south-western part of Gran Canaria, which includes Artenara, a Biosphere Reserve. Furthermore, the skies here, free from light pollution, provides one of the best viewpoints on the island for observing the night sky, turning it into a Starlight Tourist Destination.

“The Bidasoa Hotel in Santiago de Chile is an environmentally friendly hotel that Javiera Mena recommends in her city. She confesses that her dream is to sleep at the Noi Puma Lodge “in the heart of the mountain range in Chile”. She was impressed by L’Hotel Palermo in Buenos Aires, “a cosy house with a beautiful patio”. Then she goes back to the south of her country with a magical hotel: “Park Lake Luxury Villarica. Tres ciudades, Guayaquil (Ecuador), Buenos Aires (Argentina) y Madrid (España), han marcado la vida del diseñador Daniel Chong (1984). En la primera nació, en la segunda creció como adolescente, y en la tercera emprendió su negocio que hoy es una de las ﬁrmas de bolsos artesanales más fructíferas de la capital española. “En el 2016 ﬁnalmente me decidí, hice las maletas y me mudé a Lavapiés en el centro de Madrid”, explica. Su popular marca, que mezcla diseño, color y sostenibilidad, ha crecido internacionalmente desde este cosmopolita barrio: “Me sorprendió la cantidad de nacionalidades que conviven armoniosamente aquí, también la propuesta cultural y de ocio; Madrid tiene de todo y todo está en Madrid, me encanta lo ecléctica que es”. De padre de origen chino y madre ecuatoriana, vivir ambas culturas le ha otorgado “herramientas para mi vida actual, creo que los que somos mezcla de razas somos mucho más abiertos a conocer nuevas culturas”. Pero si echa de menos la gastronomía de su infancia, no lo duda: “En Madrid llenamos ese vacío muy fácilmente con la oferta de restaurantes ecuatorianos”.

Three cities, Guayaquil (Ecuador), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Madrid (Spain), have made their mark on the life of designer Daniel Chong (1984). He was born in the first, grew up as a teenager in the second, and in the third he started his business, which today is one of the most successful artisanal handbag firms in the Spanish capital. "In 2016 I finally made up my mind, packed my bags and moved to Lavapiés in the centre of Madrid," he explains. His well-loved brand, which mixes design, colour and sustainability, has grown internationally from this cosmopolitan neighbourhood: "I was surprised by the number of nationalities that live together in harmony here, as well as the cultural and entertainment scene; Madrid has everything and everything is in Madrid, I love how eclectic it is". Lo que fue una sala de conciertos de los años ochenta en Madrid, hoy es uno de los restaurantes más sorprendentes de toda Europa. Pero más allá del diseño espacial, ideado por los arquitectos SelgasCano y el diseñador Andreu Carulla, lo que está tras este proyecto es un negocio consciente con las necesidades del siglo XXI, las del planeta y las de sus ciudadanos. En Tramo todo está pensado con mimo y certeza, desde el sistema de climatización realizado con pozos provenzales (como hacían los Etruscos), hasta la vajilla elaborada con parte de arena extraída durante la obra. Es un espacio para entender que lo sostenible casi al 100% es posible, y donde, además, se puede comer excelente a través de producto local. Autosuﬁciencia, regeneración e inclusión social son sus máximas, el resto es admiración por lo bien hecho.

ENG What was once a concert hall in Madrid in the 1980s is now one of the most surprising restaurants in Europe. But beyond the spatial design, conceived by architects SelgasCano and designer Andreu Carulla, what lies behind this project is a business with awareness of 21st century needs, those of the planet and those of its citizens. At Tramo, everything has been specially designed with care and precision, from an air-conditioning system created using Provençal wells (as the Etruscans did), to tableware made with part of the sand extracted during the building work. This is a place where you can appreciate that almost 100% sustainability is possible, and where, in addition, you can eat excellent food using local produce. Self-suﬃciency, regeneration and social inclusion are its maxims, the rest is admiration for something that has been done well.

Sin prisa, pero sin pausa podría ser el lema de Nia (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1994) que, desde niña, tuvo claro que quería dedicarse a la música. Comenzó su formación en el Coro de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria y su primer gran reconocimiento llegó en 2020 al ganar Operación Triunfo. Desde entonces persigue a la buena suerte, hasta encontrarla con este disco, ya que “sin trabajo y sin constancia, poca suerte vas a tener”. En PaloSanto predominan los ritmos latinos, sobre todo salsa. ¿Está satisfecha con el resultado? Sí, estoy orgullosa y feliz. Ha quedado plasmado lo que quería hacer y a la gente le ha gustado que haya sido tan honesta. Me gusta mucho la música latina, pero a mí lo que me pone los pelos de punta es la salsa. Este disco se centra en la buena suerte y el karma… ¿Es usted supersticiosa? Antes no, pero ahora sí. Desde que salí de Operación Triunfo me han pasado un montón de cosas que achacaba a la mala suerte y, al final, eran cosas que tenían que pasar. Empecé a darle vueltas para ver cómo podía ser un hilo conductor de las canciones para hacer el disco más conceptual. Tras Operación Triunfo, Tu cara me suena y Dúos Increíbles, ¿volveremos a verla cantar en televisión? No lo sé. Hay algún proyecto por ahí, pero no puedo adelantar nada. Ahora mismo, mi foco está puesto en la promoción del disco, que me ha costado mucho, porque siendo independiente, sin una discográfica detrás cuesta

ENG Slow and steady could be a motto for Nía (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1994) who was sure from childhood that she wanted to dedicate her life to music. She began her training in the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra Choir and her first major accolade came in 2020 with victory in Operación Triunfo. Since then, she has been in constant pursuit of some good luck, until eventually finding it with this album, because "without work and perseverance, you're not going to have much luck". PaloSanto is dominated by Latin rhythms, especially salsa. Are you pleased with the results? Yes, I’m proud and happy. It’s captured exactly what I wanted to create, and people have enjoyed the fact that I’ve been so honest. I like Latin music a lot, but what really makes my heart race is salsa. This album focuses on good luck and karma... Are you superstitious? I didn't use to be, but now I am. Since leaving Operación Triunfo, a lot of things have happened to me that I put down to bad luck and, in the end, they were things that just had to happen.

No sé por qué, pero cuando estoy en un avión me viene la inspiración [risas]. En los aviones, de repente, me surgen ideas. Pero como cojo tantos, también aprovecho para dormir, leer y ver series.

I started to think about it to see how it could be a common thread in the songs to make the album more conceptual. After Operación Triunfo, Tu cara me suena and Dúos Increíbles, will we be seeing you singing on television again? I don't know. There are some projects out there, but I can't say anything just yet. Right now, my focus is on promoting the album, which has been a huge effort, because being independent, without a record company behind you, it's a little bit more difficult. And now that we’ve achieved it, this year we want to do a lot of concerts, like the ones in Madrid (10th February) and Barcelona (10th March). I'll also be at the Gran Canaria Live Fest in July. I'm taking it one step at a time, it's hard to get recognition, but I'm working on it. Being from the Canary Islands, aeroplanes are a regular transport for you. How do you spend your time on board? The idea of good luck as a concept for the album came on a plane. I don't know why, but inspiration comes to me when I'm on a plane [laughs]. I get ideas on planes all of a sudden. But because I fly so often, I also take the opportunity to sleep, read and catch up on series. .

Una fotogénica laguna en la que se suceden, en grupos concéntricos, los manglares, la laguna esmeralda poco profunda y, en el centro, un cenote turquesa de agua dulce que se interna 85 metros hacia el fondo de la tierra. No hay playa ni oferta turística alrededor, ni siquiera visitantes si se va entre semana, sólo una pasarela de troncos sobre el agua, peces de colores y la oportunidad única de quedarse a solas entre toda esa exuberante naturaleza.

Un universo submarino de coral An underwater universe of coral Frente a las costas caribeñas de Yucatán discurren 300 de los 1.000 kilómetros de la segunda barrera de coral más grande del mundo. Bajo las aguas, el espectáculo es incesante: 65 especies de corales, 350 de moluscos y más de 500 de peces que lo transforman de día y de noche. La isla de Cozumel es el embarque clásico para el buceo, mientras que el parque de Sian Kaan o el Banco de Chinchorro son lugares menos masiﬁcados donde nadar junto a tortugas o delﬁnes.

Lo mejor, es alquilar una bici o un bici taxi y acercarse a ediﬁcios como La Iglesia, desde donde se contemplan los lagos y los sacbé (caminos) de hasta 100 kilómetros que partían desde aquí hacia todas las direcciones del mundo maya. // ENG The 120 steps of the Nohoch Mul pyramid rise 42 metres over the jungle, well above the tree canopy. Tras décadas de degradación de los manglares, bajo cuyo laberinto de raíces vivían muchas especies, se ha acometido la reforestación y, ahora, es un plácido lago azul rodeado de verde en el que practicar deportes acuáticos, pasear en barca o nadar (seguramente) a un tiro de piedra del hotel. // ENG This slice of Caribbean enclosed by jungle and mangroves is surrounded by Cancún’s oldest settlements. After decades of degradation of the mangroves, whose labyrinth of roots was home to many species, reforestation work has been done and it’s now a placid blue lake surrounded by greenery where you can do water sports, take a boat ride or swim (probably) a stone’s throw from the hotel.

Los buceadores fueron los primeros en descubrir la isla (con permiso de los mayas, que se acercaban aquí para adorar a la diosa de la fertilidad, Ixchel), y Jacques Cousteau la popularizó en todo el mundo. En tierra firme hay hoteles donde andar descalzo y un puerto siempre bullicioso. // ENG Everything around this island looks like a kaleidoscope. Existe en la isla de Mallorca un triángulo formado entre las localidades de Portol, Marratxí y Sa Cabaneta, donde el barro manda por encima de todas las tradiciones. Apenas diez kilómetros separan a estos tres pueblos que aglutinan la mayor producción de cerámica mallorquina. Alfareros que dan impulso a una tradición artesanal cuyo origen tiene lugar en el siglo XVII y que hoy aportan una identidad única a esta “tierra del barro” a través de vasijas, cuencos o platos de una sutil esencia mediterránea. “En Portol está la cantera natural para esta cerámica de arcilla roja, única en toda la isla y que tradicionalmente se ha utilizado para construcción, objetos de cocina o decoración”, explica Margalida Juan, responsable del Museu del Fang de Sa Cabaneta, ubicado en un antiguo molino de viento. Esta cerámica, con motivos en amarillo y esmalte transparente, es el origen de un oficio que ha ido evolucionando con los años. “Antes el barro cubría cualquier necesidad del día a día, hoy ya hay nuevas arcillas y decoraciones, incluso el famoso estampado textil de las llengües mallorquinas se ha trasladado a los esmaltes de hoy”, cuenta la experta. En la actualidad, hay ocho fabricantes de cerámica en Portol y dos en el vecino Sa Cabaneta. En Mallorca hay familias enteras que, durante varias generaciones, se han dedicado a la alfarería. Una de ellas es la de Pep Serra, de Terracuita, con taller cerca de Marratxí, cuenta que desde pequeño, mientras sus amigos jugaban al fútbol, él se quedaba ayudando en la ollería familiar. “Los talleres alfareros de la isla se concentraban cerca de las canteras, que han proporcionado durante años el barro con el que los maestros artesanos llevan elaborando generación tras generación las tradicionales ollas y cazuelas de la cocina mallorquina y otras preciadas piezas de cerámica. Y cerca de una cantera es donde se empezó este oficio en nuestra familia. Nuestro ancestro, que trabajaba para un alfarero, decidió montar su propia ollería en 1861”, explica Serra. Entonces principalmente hacían cazuelas, hoy la empresa familiar con tiendas propias en Palma, Santanyí y Pollença, también se centra en vajillas esmaltadas con motivos mediterráneos. On the island of Mallorca, a triangle is formed between the towns of Portol, Marratxí and Sa Cabaneta, where clay prevails over all other traditions. Barely ten kilometres separate these three villages, which account for the greatest output of Mallorcan pottery. Potters here drive a craft tradition with origins dating back to the 17th century, who today give a unique identity to this “land of clay” through pots, bowls, and plates with a subtle Mediterranean essence. “Portol is the natural quarry for this red clay pottery, which is unique on the whole island and has traditionally been used for building, kitchen utensils and decoration”, explains Margalida Juan, head of the Museu del Fang de Sa Cabaneta, which is housed in an old windmill. This pottery, with its yellow motifs and transparent glaze, is the origin of a craft that has evolved over the years. “In the past, clay covered all day-to-day needs, but today there are new clays and decorations, and even the famous textile prints of Mallorcan tongues, or lengües mallorquinas has been transferred to today’s glazes,” says the expert. At present, there are eight pottery manufacturers in Portol and two in neighbouring Sa Cabaneta. who says that since he was a child, while his friends were playing football, he would stay behind to help in the family workshop. “The island’s pottery workshops were clustered near the quarries, which for years have provided the clay used by master craftsmen to make the traditional pots and pans of Mallorcan cuisine and other prized pieces of pottery, generation after generation. And it was near a quarry that this trade began in our family. Our ancestor, who worked for a potter, decided to set up his own pottery in 1861,” explains Serra. Back then they mainly made casseroles, today the family business, with its own shops in Palma, Santanyí and Pollença, also focuses on enamelled tableware with Mediterranean motifs. Más asientos, rutas y frecuencias More seats, routes, and ﬂights Air Europa is looking ahead to a winter season full of excellent prospects, with the company increasing its seating capacity by 5% in coming months in view of the sales increase expected throughout the ﬁrst quarter of 2024.

Air Europa afronta la temporada de invierno con excelentes perspectivas. La compañía aumentará en estos meses un 5% su oferta de asientos ante el incremento de las ventas previsto durante todo el primer trimestre de 2024. Las previsiones de la aerolínea están en línea con el aumento de la actividad que convirtió el pasado año en el mejor ejercicio de su historia. Esto se apoya en el gran comportamiento del mercado en las rutas de largo radio entre Europa y América, elemento diferencial de la propuesta de Air Europa. La mayor oferta de plazas será posible gracias a un incremento progresivo de la flota, la apertura de nuevas rutas y la disponibilidad de frecuencias adicionales en la conexión de Madrid con otros destinos en Latinoamérica. Air Europa prevé completar próximamente la incorporación de cuatro nuevos Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner que se sumarán a los dos recibidos a finales de año, lo que permitirá contar con más de 20 unidades al finalizar el primer cuarto de este 2024.
