Message From The Director
Friends and Families, Thank you for opening our Spring/Summer edition of Leisure Magazine—Prince William County’s go-to source for all things recreation, outdoor education, and history immersion. This is a special time of the year when nature reawakens to beckon us back into its colorful fold and the warm air rejuvenates our mind, body, and spirit. Our vast array of program offerings coupled with 5,000 acres of parkland, 15 historic sites, and 50 miles of trail make it easy to heed nature’s call. Our dedicated staff has been working hard to curate an exciting selection of new recreational and educational opportunities for you, while ensuring our tried-and-true customer favorites are ready and waiting for you too. We have an exciting and action-packed line-up of full and partial day Summer Camps for 2022. These camps, rated as a “best of” pick by NOVA Magazine, are in high demand and are filling fast. Make sure to reserve your spots early! www.pwcparks.org/summercamp. Visit our newly opened Thursday Farmer’s Market at Pfitzner Stadium from 3-7pm for treats and healthy eats straight from the producers. The Dale City Farmer’s Market is still open on Sundays from 8am-1pm at the corner of Minnieville Road and Gemini Way. Visit www.pwcva. gov/department/parks-recreation-tourism/farmers-market for more information. For the truly adventurous types we are offering Swim, Bike and Run Triathlon Training Clinics May thru August for ages 16+. For all ages adventurers, don’t miss our popular Boardwalk Series at Neabsco Regional Park offering everything from star gazing and bird watching to yoga and full moon hikes. Our History adventurers will want to join a special walking tour of one of our four Historic Towns led by a local historian. No matter your style of adventure, a pass for one of our Aquatics and Fitness Centers will give you the fitness edge to be ready for whichever challenge you pursue! Our low memberships rates are all-inclusive of land and water classes in addition to full use of gyms and pools. Come experience a personal touch not found anywhere else. We are proud to offer programs for participants of all ages and abilities, including kayaking, archery, crafts, and Zumba. Please contact accessibility coordinator Veronica Laughman, vlaughman@pwcgov.org to discuss your inclusion needs. With summer nearly upon us we are seeking lifeguards to support our four community pools and two waterparks--SplashDown and Waterworks. Lifeguarding is a very popular summer job with flexible hours and the opportunity to earn great pay, all while creating lifelong friendships and lasting memories. Please visit www.pwcparksjobs.com to learn more and apply. As with each of you, our department has experienced a lot of change throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the patience and support of our community these past two years was truly felt and deeply appreciated. We are looking forward to seeing you very soon. With Gratitude, Seth Hendler-Voss Director Office: 703-792-4270 l Mobile: 571-358-4893
