welcome
D
ear guests, Welcome onboard our fl ight – we wish you an enjoyable journey. We greatly appreciate your choice to travel with RJ, and hope to reach your expectations by offering you the best services aboard our aircraft and at all our stations. The RJ network runs direct scheduled fl ights to almost 55 cities around the world, onboard a modern fleet of aircraft that carries thousands of passengers daily, well organized and smoothly. We are careful to ensure the best connectivity for your journeys, eager to make it easier for passengers to transfer without trouble and within the shortest time at Queen Alia International Airport and other airports. The RJ route network is closely connected with the fl ights of our partners in the oneworld alliance, or of other carriers that have code share agreements with RJ – the latest being Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways. Connectivity is of great importance to passengers, particularly to frequent flyers, with whom RJ constantly keeps in touch. We listen to all suggestions and views regarding our services, including electronic services such as Internet booking and ticket issuance, airport and air services, plus of course staff friendliness and professionalism. We are keen to know your views about our company and services because these are a valuable source of information, and can help us to amend or improve a particular service, or even replace it. Stemming from this, we analyse the comment cards that are distributed to customers at the end of each trip. We come up with accurate results and indicators that are being scrutinised and assessed as part of the efforts undertaken to find out what you expect of our company. We take every step to satisfy your needs to the best of our ability, aware that you expect the best from an airline you choose and trust to transport you.
We believe that RJ, with its pioneering role and heritage in the regional air transport industry, enjoys a high position in passengers’ hearts and minds. Proof is in the growing number of passengers flying with us, particularly during the summer and peak seasons. This trust that we cherish and are proud of is due to the great efforts exerted by the company, to its employees’ hard work and to its strategic planning and fleet modernisation. Our carrier works to boost connectivity and to invest in the human resources, qualifying it to offer the best services to passengers. In addition, RJ works tirelessly to enable electronic services to ease the travel planning process, and endeavours to facilitate good communication between the airline and public. I welcome you onboard our aircraft, and look forward to hearing your objective and sincere comments about our services. You may also contact RJ through its social media accounts or the official website. I wish you pleasant fl ights with the national carrier of Jordan which celebrates its 52nd anniversary on 15 December 2015.

christmas Every year from the last week of November until Christmas Eve on 24 December, markets spring up across Germany’s cities, towns and villages. Usually open from morning until around 9pm, they bring festive cheer to the winter weeks that form the countdown to the holiday season. Particularly atmospheric after dark, they’re magical places to visit, with their twinkling fairy lights, family entertainment from jugglers to carol singers, and stalls and cabins piled with everything from traditional gifts to culinary delicacies. Resisting mass-produced commercialism in favour of romance and nostalgia, these markets are renowned for their quality craftwork and homemade foods. You’ll find wooden toys, carvings and beeswax candles galore, as well sweet and savoury treats from gingerbread biscuits and marzipan figures to aromatic hot chestnuts, baked apples

Guangzhou is a springboard from which to understand more
RJ will soon commence flights to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, a transport hub with numerous domestic air routes. The airport is 28km from the city centre, easily accessed by a 50-minute journey on the metro (subway). The airport bus is convenient if it stops near your hotel. There is also a taxi rank outside the airport. It is always advisable to have the name of your destination written in Cantonese, including as many landmarks as possible, as few cab drivers speak English. Only use official taxis, which should always use the meter. A new tram system runs east to west, serving the Haizhu district.
about modern China. It is a thriving business centre, holding an estimated 1,000 trade shows and conventions each year. Tianhe is the main business district, thriving with gleaming skyscrapers and shopping malls. It’s an impressive showcase for avant guarde architecture, and home to most of the city’s expat communities. It’s also a major transport hub for high-speed trains to Hong Kong. Each Lunar New Year (January or February), Guangzhou is part of the world’s largest annual human migration when millions of locals in China head to their home villages. In April and October, the China Import and Export Fair (known as the Canton Fair) attracts thousands of manufacturing companies from around the world, held in a purpose-built complex in Pazhou. next to the complex. If you’re visiting the city during the fair, make hotel reservations as early as possible. Etiquette is important in Chinese society. It helps to forge good business relations when attending meetings by accepting invitations and providing gifts, plus showing knowledge and sensitivity towards the local culture. Emma LEvinE

E ating & drinking Dining out is a popular pastime in Guangzhou – there are more restaurants per head than in any other city in China. Cantonese cuisine is famous worldwide so you’re in for a treat, from the midmorning speciality of dim sum to roasted meats, barbecued chicken and stirfries. Find top-class restaurants of all cuisines in luxury hotels. You’ll always find halal food thanks to its sizeable Muslim community, especially Uighur restaurants. To impress clients, try Wagyu steaks and Alaskan crab at The Connoisseur; or French dishes with a colonial ambience at Orient Express.
t hings to do Guangzhou isn’t all about business. If you have time out from your busy schedule, see our guide on the following pages for the best places to visit, including top-quality museums, galleries and relaxing parks. For gifts to take home, visit Taikoo Hui mall and shop for top global brands, or find local handicrafts such as jade sculptures and painted porcelain at the Guangdong Folk Arts Museum.

ith its varied topography offering changing climates, Jordan is undoubtedly a year-round destination. The winter months leading up to Christmas and New Year have additional appeal as not only is the climate at its most comfortable, but the country also hosts cheery festive events. Although Amman has a reputation for winter winds, the sun never hides for long, so on a winter’s day in Jordan the options are as diverse as exploring the slopes of the capital’s towering hills, catching precious winter rays down on Aqaba’s Red Sea beaches or throwing a flurry of snowballs high in the Aijloun forest.

JoRdan Celebrating Christmas and New Year, Jordanian style words
Sarah Siese
Christmas is very visible in Amman and both Christians and Muslims enjoy celebrating. The shopping and dining complex The Boulevard in Abdali area turns into a strip of kiosks and markets with lavish decorations and carol singers. This year The Boulevard hosts its third Christmas festivities, with groups singing traditional English carols (along with some Arabic versions), gift stalls, visits from Santa and the lighting ceremony of a 15-metre-high Christmas tree. Similar scenes are found across the country, plus Christmas Eve services in Jordan’s churches, which are some of world’s oldest and most revered. The capital makes the perfect winter base for exploring the region. A popular day trip from Amman is to the town of Fuheis, in Balqa, 20km northwest in the Valley of Jethro (Wadi Shueib). Famous for its fresh-grown fruit and 19th-century churches, Fuheis’ history dates back to around 2000 BC. While its residents are predominantly Christian, local Muslims join them in celebrating the festive season. j 30

A popular event is the Fuheis Christmas Festival, with a huge decorated tree as its focal point. Traditionally, members of Jordan’s royal family attend the tree-lighting ceremony. In 2008, HRH Queen Rania lit the tree, marking the festival’s official opening, and her sons, Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah and Prince Hashem did the same in 2013. Local restaurants such as Zuwwadeh enter the party spirit. With short days and cold nights, Petra winters can be taxing but there is still much of this historical gem to enjoy in winter. After a bracing walk through the mile-long Siq valley, climb to ad-Deir (the Monastery), Petra’s largest carved façade. In the evening, join as people gather for a festive cuisine course at Petra Kitchen, which runs regular cookery residential courses, where you’ll help prepare a Jordanian Christmas feast. The concept involves cooking your own dinner under supervision from the chef with her own traditional recipes. Then it’s time to feast on such winter specialities as makloubah (a dish of rice, lamb and vegetables), galayet bandora (meaty stew) and shorabet adas, a warming lentil soup enjoyed by all Jordanian families. This year, there will be a huge Christmas celebration in Madaba, 30km southwest of Amman, throughout December. It features horse-drawn carriages carrying a gift-laden Santa Claus, who’ll hand out chocolates to children. Every weekend will be a musical extravaganza with songs from a violinist and choirs. The main pedestrian-only street that goes from St George’s Church to Madaba’s Visitor Centre becomes a bazaar selling local products. The Christmas tree will be the biggest one in Jordan this year – taking the crown previously held by Fuheis. Locals choose the cooler months for the excellent out-of-season trekking, and New Year’s Eve makes the perfect time to combine time off with celebrations. Time among nature during the day followed by a stay at a cozy hotel lodging with good food and evening entertainment is a great way to ring in the New Year. Look out for Amman’s restaurants celebrating with special meals and live music. The Boulevard will see thousands of people gather for the capital’s only outdoor countdown, with a firework show marking the start of 2016. For a uniquely Jordanian New Year’s Eve, make a late afternoon Jeep tour of the moonscape desert terrain at Wadi Rum, arriving at a remote campsite deep in the heart of the protected area. Where better to see out the old year than a Bedouin party tent with folkdancing and musicians, then learning first-hand how to make traditional Bedouin coffee and bread. All this before a countdown and fireworks beneath a beautiful sky of stars.
Soak up the Nile’s ancient wonder sleeping under the stars on a bobbing boat, or living a pharaoh’s life on a cruise words
Mike MacEacheran

A
ll the historical romance and melancholy of ancient Egypt can be found on a journey down the River Nile. From the encrypted bas-relief temples of Abu Simbel and the high dams of Aswan and Lake Nasser in Upper Egypt, to the ancient cities of the dead at Thebes and Luxor, travel takes on a poetic rhythm unmatched by any other river expedition. Indeed, it’s almost impossible to think of Egypt without the Nile. In Ancient Egypt, the river was the lifeblood of the pharaohs, interpreted as a gift from heaven, helping cultivate the myths and ideologies of the cults of Isis, Horus and Seth. In modern Egypt, the waters are the catalyst for harvests that transform the Nile valley, via deep-cut irrigation channels, creating a daisy-chain of flowering oases where date palms and orange, red, and yellow hibiscus flourish. In Western culture, the Nile is simply a darn good adventure. That adventure can take several forms. Be it on the deck of a white-sailed, no-frills felucca, the traditional Egyptian sailing pontoon, or onboard a luxurious cruise ship, complete with swimming pools, chandeliers and on-call field Egyptologists. But how do you know which cruise to choose? Here is our guide to finding the trip that best suits your sense of adventure.

Traditional sail boats, feluccas, drift down the Nile
35
If the oven-hot winds from the Sahara hold, a tried and tested six-day felucca trip from Aswan to Edfu (they rarely make the full sailing to Luxor) is the most intimate, immersive way to explore and understand the river. It’s a stripped-back, rudimentary trip – you’ll have to sleep on deck, albeit with a million-star view – and your progress will be limited by your boat captain’s sailing skills. Sometimes, the pace of a felucca feels like cutting through paper with rusty scissors. They score high on budget, rarely on luxury. But no other vessel lets you get so close to the bulrushes and water buffaloes, the lapping shoreline, lulling date palms and legendary temples. Even in ruin, with a waters’-edge view on approach, the architecture of the likes of the Temple of Kom Ombo (dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek) speaks of a golden age for ancient Egypt. On closer view, the villages, flowers and fields paint a more vivid picture than they ever could from the lofty, umbrella-shaded deck of a fourdeck cruiser. Close your eyes and you’ll hear the creak of the boat’s wooden hull and squeak of sails. j

The highlight, you’ll feel, is that the Nile comes alive on a felucca. After departing from Aswan, where the Nile is cleft into hundreds of shallow channels and granite islands, and the flow towards Luxor changes from white-water rapids, or cataracts, to steady, smooth water, you can feel its power. Rural life takes over by the time you reach Edfu, home to the great Temple of Horus. It is here that the Nile widens, bringing journey’s end, making any sail south of the locks at Esna impossible for a tired felucca. Taking a fraction of the time that a felucca does – an average of three nights – modern cruise ships ferry the vast majority of Nile visitors from temple to temple all the way to Luxor. One like the Oberoi Zahra, Luxury Nile Cruiser, takes a far more relaxing approach over four nights, even a leisurely seven nights if you have the time to include a trip to the temple of Denderah in your itinerary. You’ll soon realise that a modern cruise adds a sense of what the likes of the Aga Khan, King Farouk, Queen Victoria and Winston Churchill experienced on their early 19th-century Nile journeys. On the Oberoi, you can walk down a glass stairway to dinner

in high heels, sink into a lounge chair at a library stacked with books for budding Egyptologists, or benefit from lavish banquets fit for a pharaoh and a spa for a Cleopatra. But where you gain safety, time, practicality and style, you give up on old-world atmosphere and affection. Off-boat, you’ll be treated to a meticulous itinerary of wonders. At Aswan, you’ll be guided around Lord Kitchener’s Island, now a botanical garden overgrown with oleander, fig and sycamore trees. At Kom Ombo, you’ll learn about the ancient Egyptian calendar and the early days of medicine (even the pharaohs went in for cosmetic surgery). And at Luxor you’ll be shown around the air-conditioned museum and Karnak, the most storied temple complex of the lot, with graceful ease. On a felucca, of course, there is none of this as you’ll be left to your own devices at each location. Still, the end of a journey along the Nile represents validation. Amidst the emptiness and solitude, in the company of the ghosts of ancient Egypt, it’s possible to find yourself wholly content – no matter how you decide to set sail. All that Egyptian history will do that to you.
With America’s exhilarating range of fun alternative activities, winter is no time for hibernating WORDS

Snow much fun
W
inter fun used to be confined to snowmen, hot chocolate and hurtling down a mountain on skis. Not any more. In recent years a blizzard of alternative winter sports has been rapidly gaining momentum across the United States. From deep-powder snowmobiles to dog-powered skiers, try-it-yourself luge to ultimate tubes, America has perfected the art of messing around in the snow. So ditch the skis, put down that carrot nose and cup of cocoa, and try one of these wild, weird and wonderful winter sports.
Dog sledding There are few winter activities more immersive than mushing a pack of huskies silently through the ice and snow. The musher, or driver, stands on the back of a sled, which is harnessed to a pack of six or eight dogs. To steer they shout commands and lean with the sled into each turn. There’s room to sit on the sled, too, for those who just prefer a ride. Huskies are the fastest sled dogs, and thus the choice for racers, but Canadian Eskimo Dogs, Malamutes and Samoyeds are also used. Wintergreen DID YOU KNOW? Dogsled Lodge in northern Minnesota Sled dogs are faster offers lodge-to-lodge dog sledding than horses, able to adventures among the pine forests and run at 12mph for frozen lakes of the beautiful Boundary hundreds of miles Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Care at a time. Looking pound for pound for something more unusual to set dinner table tales alight? Try skijoring here too – a cross between waterskiing and dog sledding, where riders swap sled for skis and let the dogs pull them through snowy forest trails. j

Snow tubing Sunburst Winter Sports Park in Kewaskum, Wisconsin – three-hours north of Chicago – is your local sledging hill on steroids. It has more than 45 dedicated tubing lanes to slide down on giant inflatable donuts at speeds reaching DIFFICU LT Y up to 40mph, it’s the largest snowtubing park in the world. Gone are the days of trudging back up the hill, too – here ‘magic carpet’ escalators take you and your ride back up the mountain. There are also downhill ski runs and three of the best snowboard terrain parks in the Midwest on site.

Snowkiting The unlikely marriage of paragliding and snowboarding, snowkiting feels more like flying. Harnessed to enormous kites, riders glide effortlessly on the wind and turn every earthbound jump into a gravity-defying leap through the air. Leave the lift pass at home too – with a snowkite a good breeze is the only chairlift you need – and it’s just as fun on a flat field or backcountry trail as it is at the top of a mountain peak. Skyline Drive in Utah is the snowkiting capital of America – the winds are great, terrain perfect and powder deep. You can take lessons at Utah Snowkite Center, plus backcountry adventures for experienced riders.
Bobsledding Speed demons rejoice: at Whiteface Mountain in Lake Placid, New York State, would-be cool-runners can experience the 5 g, 55mph thrill of sliding down a bona fide Olympic bobsleigh track for themselves. Pro drivers and brakemen take the reins Difficu lt y – all that’s left is the screaming. Too timid? Ride the same track six inches off the ground, face first on a sledge the size of a tea tray. Ice climbing, ice skating, ice fishing and tours of the Olympic Centre are also available nearby, and you can take the Bobsleigh Experience at Whiteface Mountain.
Ski biking Part skiing, part downhill mountain biking, ski biking (or skibobbing in Europe) substitutes skis for wheels on specialist snow bikes that slide riders headfirst down the slope, screaming all the way. It’s easy to master – with a fraction of the learning curve of traditional skiing or Difficu lt y snowboarding – and requires none of that legs-of-iron athleticism that sends infrequent skiers hobbling to the apres-piste early. And they’re highly maneuverable too – if moguls give you nightmares, hop on your ski bike instead. Winter Park Resort in Colorado bills itself as the mountain biking capital of the world, and they’ve now extended their cycling passion to winter with ski bike lessons, ski bike tours and even night bike adventures. j

High intensity cross-country skiing burns more than 1,000 calories an hour – more than any other sport
Cross-country skiing Stretching across the Green Mountains of Vermont, from Massachusetts to Quebec, the Catamount Trail is the longest cross-country ski route in North America and one of the best winter adventures in the country. Linking together groomed and backcountry trails with that other New England speciality, cute country inns, it’s possible to ski the entire route with a cooked dinner, warm bed and roaring fire to welcome you home each night. Try the scenic 27-mile, four-day Bolton Valley to Stowe section for a great introduction to the trail. 42
Snowmobiling is the Formula 1 of winter sports. Like super-charged motorised sleds, with two skis on the front and a tank-like caterpillar track on the back, snowmobiles are the motorcycles of winter. They can be ridden by one or two people and require DIFFICU LT Y no road, just lots of powder and a heavy hand on the throttle. Averaging speeds of up to 100mph – enough to get you banned from driving in almost every country in the world – they’re loud, fast, dangerous and completely addictive. Michigan, with more than 6,500 dedicated snowmobiling trails, perfect conditions and wild, remote terrain is the world’s premier racetrack. Treetops Resort, a few hours north of Detroit and Chicago, has access to in excess of 300 miles of some of the best groomed trails in the state, and a warm spa to welcome you back at the end of your ride. There’s also ice-skating, disc golf and cross-country skiing.

As RJ will soon begin flights to Jakarta, we take a look at the highlights of this rich, varied archipelago in South East Asia Tamara Thiessen
ndonesia consists of a vast tropical archipelago of more than 17,000 islands spanning 5,200 kilometres from the Indian Ocean to the Pacific. Java, Sumatra and Sulawesi count among the largest; Bali is one of the smallest but most symbolic of Indonesia’s island resort status. Between them they pack in astounding geographical and cultural diversity, from the frenetic capital of Jakarta on Java and ancient temples of its hinterland, to the cultural melting pot of Sumatra in the west. There’s astounding marine biodiversity of the Sulawesi islands in the north, while the southern Bali boasts dense rainforests and idyllic beaches.

Java Jakarta markets and remote hidden history Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, is a frenzy of tuk-tuk traffic, exotic aromas and sights. Its bustling street markets capture the Asian spirit and are busy with locals day and night. At Jakarta’s many markets visitors can marvel at massive fresh fish laid bare, mountains of chillies, pungent durian and salak (‘snake fruit’). Menteng, the famous downtown flea market on Jalan Surabaya, is packed with clothing, textiles, jewellery and knick-knacks. After dark it’s a pulsing hub of nightlife and street food, where vendors fry and sizzle Indonesian staples such as nasi goreng (fried rice) and satay. Jakarta is renowned as a foodie capital and its late-night buzz merges a sea of neon and cross-cultural flavours. For seafood, head to the evening stalls at Bendungan Hilir, which serve black pepper crab, ikan bakar (grilled fish) and other piquant Padang (West Sumatran) food. Also in central Jakarta, the pedestrianised daily market Pasar Baru is a more traditional, family-run affair and a great place to pick up vintage fashion bargains. This is the city’s oldest market, established during Dutch rule in 1820. Over the market’s three floors, hunt for new clothes, watches, bags and belts. Indian traders sell gold, trinkets and colourful textiles and, as the market flows out along the covered promenade, Chinese lanterns, dressmaking fabrics and gaudy trimmings line the way. Other stores sell batik fabrics, traditional medicines and glassware. In Central Java, the forests contain many ancient treasures – not least Borobudur, 500km southeast of Jakarta and accessible by a one-hour fl ight. Considered one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world, the 9th-century temple is located in the Kedu Valley. The temple’s massive three-tiered pyramid is carved with intricate reliefs and 72 mini Buddha statues. The nearby luxury Amanjiwo resort overlooks the temple – try your hand at painting it during an art class offered by the hotel. Blending in with the scenery, its traditional, domedroofed villas are decorated with traditional limestone, coconut wood, rattan furniture, batik bedding and glass paintings. For urban history, Yogyakarta, 40km southeast of Borobudur, is rich in traditional culture and charm. At its heart is the 18th-century Javanese kraton (palace) – a walled city within a city and home of Indonesian royalty, with its own shops, schools and mosques. j 45

Gulai ayam, a traditional chicken curry from Padang
Sumatra A foodie’s paradise Northwest of Java is the island of Sumatra. Here, Indonesia’s famous Padang food, which is named after West Sumatra’s coastal capital, is shaped by the island’s indigenous Minangkabau and Malay people, as well as influences from nearby Singapore and Sri Lanka. Eating ‘Padangstyle’ involves waiters navigating around tables with a mountain of white platters stacked on their arms ready for a ‘masakan Padang’ banquet. The region’s now ubiquitous Nasi Padang consists of steamed rice served with a multitude of spicy side dishes: rendang daging or ayam (made from beef or chicken); gulai ayam (chicken curry); asam pedas (a Minangkabau sour and spicy fish stew); ayam bakar (grilled spicy chicken) and – not for the faint-hearted – gulai kepala ikan, a fish-head curry made with red snapper. Sample them at homely rumah makan Padang restaurants, as well as cafés and market stalls. Bali Family fun, romance and natural wonders The small volcanic island of Bali has long been Indonesia’s prime tourist destination, offering both popular beach resorts and romantic getaways. As the renowned family travel blog My Little Nomads states, ‘No one goes to Kuta to see the “real Bali”; they go to have fun, eat good food, shop at one of the many malls, and enjoy some of the nearby tourist attractions or tours.’ Located near Denpasar International Airport in the southern tip of the island, Kuta is Bali’s answer to Miami. The popular resort offers great family restaurants with local and international cuisine, perfect beaches, water sports and villa accommodation. Kuta also has Bali’s biggest waterslide park, Waterbom, which boasts some of the world’s longest, twisting, squeal-inducing slide paths. Comparatively calm, the Beachwalk Shopping Centre packs in family shopping and entertainment, restaurants, plus a toddlers’ playground and day care. To retreat from the Kuta crowds, head south to Jimbaran, Bali’s honeymoon paradise. Its luxury hotels – which include the Four Seasons, Jamahal Private Resort & Spa, and Kayumanis Jimbaran Private Estate & Spa – all have private beach areas and other couple-centric treats, not least private villa pools and organic spas with treatments for two. A former fishing village, Jimbaran also has many j 47

seafront seafood restaurants ideal for balmy candlelit dinners. Buy your lunch at its beachside fish market and have it cooked at one of the outdoor stalls, grilled to perfection before being served at your waterfront table. Across from the market on Jimbaran Bay is the 18th-century Pura Ulun Siwi temple, at its most peaceful in the early morning. On holy days it comes alive with traditional dance performances. Into the Bali’s central highlands, Ubud’s calming forests and luxuriant greenery is a world away from the beach glamour down below. Tucked in its rainforested folds, between hills of terraced rice paddies, waterways and Hindu shrines are dozens of spa and yoga retreats. Some are eco-hideaways, built in traditional Balinese style with local woods and recycled timbers, offering yoga classes, traditional dance and treks. Further inland, the idyllic Bagus Jati Health & Wellbeing Retreat in Gianyar is a renowned pioneer of yoga and Ayurveda treatments. Komodo Home of the dragon East of Bali, lying at the heart of the Indonesian archipelago, the Komodo National Park on Komodo Island was created in the 1980s to protect its iconic creature, the Komodo dragon, and its habitat. Covering several islands, its mission now extends to protecting the local sea wonders, including the biodiversity-rich coral reefs, mangroves and seagrass beds that are home to whales, dolphins and sea turtles. To enjoy these, divers hop on live-aboard boats from Bali, Lombok, Bima and Labuan Baj.

Sulawesi Divers’ delight Due north of Komodo Island lies sprawling Sulawesi, home to Bunaken National Marine Park – one of the world’s top diving locations. Located in the ‘Coral Triangle’ at the crossroads of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, its deep clear waters have up to 40 metres visibility. Some say it is home to more sealife varieties than Australia’s Barrier Reef, making it a marine wonderworld. Resorts such as the Bunaken Cha Cha Nature Resort offer dive courses for both beginners and pros, as well as beaches and coral reefs perfect for snorkelling. On Sulawesi’s northeast tip, neighbouring Lembeh Strait is a renowned ‘muck (shallow) diving’ location hailed as ‘critter diving capital of the world’. Its 30 dive sites are home to oddball marine life including pastel-hued, starfish-eating harlequin shrimps, pink hairy frogfish and the flamboyant cuttlefish that camouflage themselves by squirting coloured ink under their skin. 48

your baggage allowance RJ’s new baggage allowance policy, introduced in November 2014, is based on the number and weight of bags checked in, rather than just the weight. Below is a handy chart to show what you can check in and take on board. Next time you fly out of Amman, why not make the most of RJ’s City Terminal at 7th Circle, where you can pre-check your luggage and get your boarding pass up to 24 hours before your departure.
