Le résultat final est un design ultra personnalisé mariant le style intérieur luxueux de Fendi à une structure de coque en acier et aluminium. Le design extérieur classique est signé Stefano Natucci, un designer qui n’en est pas à sa première collaboration avec Benetti. L’intérieur porte la marque des designers de Fendi, en plus de celle de Studio Massi, notamment pour ce qui est des accessoires, de l’utilisation du cuir, de l’éclairage et des meubles raffinés.
The end result is a custom design concept that embraces the luxurious Fendi style inside of a steel hull and aluminum yacht structure. The classic exteriors are by frequent Benetti designer and collaborator Stefano Natucci, yet the interiors have the touch of Fendi designers in addition to Studio Massari, including the accessories, use of leather, lovely lighting, and furniture.

The color palette aboard Lady Lara has warm wood accented with gold and silver, adding a harmonious atmosphere, bathed in luxury. The layout on the highest deck comprises a central area for a gym, with glazed walls that have a view ofthe sea, as well a swimming pool and dining area for 12, perfect for al fresco meals. The boat’s “LL” or double L logo, for Lady Lara echoes that of Fendi’s Luxury Living, the inspiration for the yacht’s design, including such Fendi signatures as two TV’s framed in Fendi’s Croco leather. With exterior design by Stefano Natucci, and interior design and engineering by Benetti, the 170.6’ (52 meter) custom Benetti yacht, Latitude (previously Latinou), was launched in 2008. Six cabins sleep up to 12 guests, including a lovely master suite, four double cabins, and one twin cabin. There is also space for a crew of 13. Latitude The interiors are inspired by classic transatlantic liners from the 1930s, with period details such as stainless steel, leather, and engraved glass, evoking ageless elegance. The 154’ (47 meter) sporty, yet elegant, 100% aluminum yacht, Panthera, was launched in 2013 as the second yacht in the 500 series, following Imagination in 2010. Built at Benetti's Livorno boatyard, the 500-series yachts enjoy hull geometry that ensures superior performance, with a maximum speed of 24 knots and comfortable cruising speed of 22 knots, as well as significant stability while at sea.

Clean, soaring lines and large tinted oval windows are a nice contrast to the metallic silver of the exterior, whose teak detailing is gray, rather than the traditional black, and the interiors echo a sophisticated combination of lighter and darker gray tones. The contemporary design include large fashion photos— both black & white and color— hung throughout the yacht’s main spaces, some framed and some unframed images of international models and actresses, adding even more glamour to this sophisticated yacht.

iking on Saba is a rewarding experience, as the vegetation varies with distinctive zones related to altitude and precipitation. Saba’s dominant peak, Mt. Scenery soars to 2,877 feet, and is frequently enshrouded by clouds, creating a cloud-forest environment. Humidity decreases as one descends and the vegetation reflects the drier climate, from rain forest to sea level, where plants and trees have adapted to the salty environment. The winner for the second year in a row is the 105’ Whitehawk, a timeless clipper-bowed wood-hulled boat designed by Bruce King, and built in 1978 at the Lie-Nielsen boatyard in Rockland, Maine. Recently restored, Whitehawk was inspired by the legendary 1936 Ticonderoga, L. Francis Herreshoff's famous 1936 racing yacht. A true classic beauty, Whitehawk well deserved the Panerai Trophy once again, winning every race and taking line honors in four starts in Classics Class A. Captain Eric Nittmann notes, “It is 1,600 miles to Rhode Island from Antigua but it has been well worth the trip. It is great to see Whitehawk being sailed hard but also so well. I don’t think I yelled at the crew all week, it went very well and it is a pleasure to have a team on board that fully appreciate the stallion that Whitehawk can become.” The 29th edition of Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, sponsored by Panerai, will be held on April 13-19, 2016.

Born to be a legend, Lloyd Thornburg's MOD 70 trimaran, Phaedo3, set a record for the new around St. Maarten anti-clockwise course, which sailed past Tintamarre and Blowing Rock. Formerly named Foncia and skippered by French sailor Michel Desjoyeaux, Phaedo3 flew around the island in 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 24 seconds, averaging 20.7 knots on the 35-mile course, hitting an incredible top speed of 36 knots. This is a boat is a beauty, with its curved foils, rotating and canting wingmast, and hydraulic systems that depower the mainsail.

L’Esperance Prevails Sir Bobby Velasquez's Beneteau 45 L'Esperance sailed a great race against the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta founder Robbie Ferron and the J/39 Budget Marine Aruba in CSA 7. These two pros were closely matched on the water but L'Esperance was able to win all four races. Yet the battle was so intense that L'Esperance was awarded the Most Worthy Performance of the 2015 Heineken Regatta, which concluded on March 8, after four days of intense racing for over 2000 sailors. L'Esperance, le Beneteau 45 de Sir Bobby Velasquez a su tirer son épingle du jeu face au fondateur de la St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, Robbie Ferron à bord du J/39 Budget Marine Aruba dans la classe CSA 7. Les deux professionnels étaient au coude à coude sur l’eau, mais L’Esperance a fini par s’adjuger la victoire. La bataille était toutefois si rude que L'Esperance s’est vu décerner le Most Worthy Performance de l’édition 2015 de la Heineken Regatta, qui s’est terminée le 8 mars, après quatre jours d’intense couse pour plus de 2 000 navigateurs. Visione was also the class winner for Les Gazelles des Mers, with a second place win on Friday, and first place wins on both Saturday and Sunday, beating Viiters Shipyard’s Inoui for second place and Perini Navi’s P2, which came in third. In the Elegantes des Mers class, for the first time in Bucket history, there was a tie for first place, with Adela and Elfje sharing the top spot. “It was a very unusual situation, and there was good sportsmanship all the way around that resulting in these boats agreeing to the tie,” noted Peter Craig, event director and race chairman.

C’était une année palpitante pour la St. Barth Bucket avec un changement de propriétaire. En effet, quatre des principaux constructeurs de yachts ont pris les rennes de l’événement : Perini Navi, Royal Huisman, Vitters et Rybovich. En outre, pour la deuxième fois de son histoire, la Bucket était agrémentée d’un spectacle aérien. Le premier a eu lieu en 2011 avec quatre avions de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale. Cette fois-ci se ne sont pas moins de huit avions restaurés du Texas Flying Legends Museum et Rod Lewis Air Legends, également de la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, qui ont assuré le spectacle dans les airs.
Bucket news It was an exciting year for The St. Barth Bucket, with a shift in ownership, as four of the major yacht builders took on the stewardship role for the event: Perini Navi, Royal Huisman, Vitters, and Rybovich. It was also the second time that The Bucket was accompanied by an air show. The first was in 2011 with four WWII planes, this time eight restored WWII planes from the Texas Flying Legends Museum and Rod Lewis Air Legends took part in a spectacular display of vintage warbirds.

Each year The Bucket shows its generosity by giving a donation to a worthy charity on the island. This year it was a check for 18,000 euros to the St Barth Children’s With Handicaps Project, with the funds going to SESSAD Coralita, based in St Martin, with local support by the Lions and Rotary clubs. The next edition of the St Barth Bucket will be held March 17-20, 2016.
Chaque année, la Bucket fait aussi preuve de générosité en effectuant un don à une association caritative de l’île. Garth Brewer At the helm of Visione is captain Garth Brewer, who grew up in South Africa. A veteran skipper with a 20-year career, he has sailed with Hasso Plattner aboard Visione since 2002, when this 147’ (45 meter) luxury yacht was built at Baltic Yachts. A boat that likes to race, Visione set the record in 2004 for the fastest time around Saint Barth in the New Year’s Eve Parade, won the Superyacht Cup Antigua 2010, and won the Saint Barth Bucket in 2015. “Visione was designed to be fast and powerful,” says Brewer. “The focus has always been on her sailing performance and the need to reduce weight. Since a yacht’s performance is largely dependent on her displacement, Visione was built with weight saving in mind at all times. Of course, she is also a fast shape and performs particularly well upwind. Sailing on Visione is a privilege and we all appreciate being part of the project.” Still holding the around-the-island record set 2004, Brewer comments: “I think the record could and will be broken at some point. With 16-18 knots of wind and a serious attempt, it can be broken.” © Alain Blanchard
In terms of sailing in Saint Barth, the skipper is enthusiastic: “The scenery is beautiful and the water is fantastic. We have also been very fortunate having great winds at nearly every regatta,” he says. “In general St Barth offers a perfect location and backdrop to sail some of the largest and most spectacular yachts in the world. On the shore we all appreciate the quality of the restaurants and the services, and the island is also very well presented.”
