And the Oscar for best speech goes to…!
If we were to highlight the commonalities of the speeches given by the Academy Award winners last weekend, I would say that they were moving and authentic, giving themselves permission to be vulnerable.
In stark contrast to last year’s embarrassing display of violence (with the Will Smith and Chris Rock episode), this year the ceremony and especially the speeches won the hearts of the audience.
Starting with that of Brendan Fraser, winner of the best actor award for his performance in the movie The Whale, and whose voice broke when he dedicated his award to his eldest son, Griffin (20 years old), diagnosed on the spectrum of autistic disorder (something Fraser blamed himself for during an early stage).
For his part, Jamie Lee Curtis showed us that it is never too late because after 45 years of artistic career, he receives the highest award for his performance in the multi-award-winning All at once everywhere. My favorite moment was when he remembered his parents,
