There Is Too Much Noise Hay Mucho Ruido En Esta In This Election Elección

s we wind down the last primaries, there are all kinds of suggestions and demands as to what Democratic Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders should do to unite the Party, as well as the fear of having Trump as the Republican candidate. There are calls for Sanders to withdraw, some saying he should not be on the ticket, and there are calls for Clinton to do more to energize the base. I hear the noise - there are some things I agree with and some that I do not. What we ought to do however is look at the larger goal and gauge our strategy on that as opposed to drawing lines of division amongst ourselves. At the end of the day, 10 years from now it will not matter who got more face time on cable news or who got more headlines
in newspapers if we regress rather than progress. There is far too much at stake from Supreme Court nominees to protection of the Affordable Care Act, Affirmative Action, voting rights, women’s rights, LGBT rights, criminal justice reform and more. This Presidential election is at a pivotal moment when we cannot allow divide and conquer to push us back further and lose many of our gains. If we don’t wake up now, we will look back at this time period and realize that this is when we were effectively silenced. It is key To consider what each candidate is offering and how is this going to allow our progress as a country or simply stop it and rewind.

medida que se acaban las últimas primarias, hay todo tipo de sugerencias y demandas en cuanto a lo que los candidatos presidenciales demócratas, Hillary Clinton y Bernie Sanders, deben hacer para unir al partido, así que el temor de tener al candidato Trump como el candidato Republicano. Mucho apoyan que Sanders se retire, diciendo que no debería estar en el billete, igualmente hay llamadas para que Clinton energice mas su campaña. Hay mucho ruido - algunas cosas estoy de acuerdo y otras no. Lo que tenemos que hacer -sin embargo- es enfocarnos en lo más general y medir nuestra estrategia en la que no creemos una división entre nosotros. Al final del día, 10 años a partir de ahora quien tuvo más audiencia o más noticias escritas sobre ellos no van a importar, lo que queda es
lo que hagan con su tiempo como presidentes. Hay demasiado en juego: los candidatos al Tribunal Supremo a la protección de la Ley de Asistencia Asequible, la acción afirmativa, los derechos de voto, derechos de la mujer, los derechos LGBT, la reforma de la justicia penal y más. Esta elección presidencial está en un momento crucial en el que no podemos permitir la división ni el retroceso de lo que hemos alcanzado. Si no despertamos ahora, vamos a mirar hacia atrás solo para darnos cuenta que este fue el momento donde nos silenciamos. Es clave considerar lo que cada candidato está ofreciendo y cómo va a permitir nuestro progreso como país o su retroceso.
