UNA FAVOLA

D’A MOR E E BELL EZZ A ’

A love and beauty fairy tale di Elio Frasca

A dream coming true. It exists nothing in the world belonging to the dream dimension like an enchanting wedding dress. To make it so unique and precious, it is the extraordinariness to not belonging to the bride only in fact a Haute Couture wedding dress belongs to all those dreamers who were able to make it real thanks to strength of the ideas and artisan and sartorial skills. Where did it all get started? What is the real start of this love fairy tale? Once upon a time ... a stylist. It is him the first protagonist of this fairy tale which he was hit one day by an extraordinary creative idea. After him, the admirable weavers enter in the set, they are the big creators of this precious creative process and the embroiderers with their golden hands who realize an authentic masterpiece under their eyes. Not to forget the seller who looks after the dress in her elegant atelier until that day that a woman enters in the shop and she falls in love with it. Only a wedding dress can dress up a soul, the other dresses dress and emphasize only the body. A wedding dress can make a woman happy because behind that there is a team of fashion professionals who shared a supreme beauty dream making it real. In this issue of Rendez-Vous de la Mode you will see that there is not place where a bride can’t give light. The bride is always the main protagonist. Amongst the young dancers of the painter Degas it is her to be the most ethereal muse and it is always her in a museum to be the most alive and brightening art work. It is impossible to escape from her innate magnetism. Her allure comes from really far and really far it will go as long as the most sublime protagonists of the fashion system will make possible this amazing dream “Once upon a time’’ ...

350 RENDEZ-VOUS DE LA MODE HAUTE COUTURE FW 2013/14

INTERVIEW:

Ministry of Tourism & Culture of Seychelles Alain St.Ange.

Minister St. Ange, what do you think is the famous magnetic energy of the Seychelles, which bewitches the collective imagination? Seychelles remains the mid-ocean tourism destination that has been making travelers dream. The name Seychelles has always been, and continues to strike the right cord as being the most sought after tropical destination offering unrivalled swimming in clear and clean turquoise blue seas lapping its white and clean sandy beaches. Seychelles is unique as a holiday destination. It offers diversity in islands that make up this archipelago. Seychelles has both granitic islands and the flat coral islands, as part of its range of diversity it also has a unique blend of people giving our islands a unique culture and a unique blend of cuisine. Our islands are also known as the country where over 50% of its total land area has been declared protected nature reserves because we are conscious of the natural beauty of our islands and want to ensure that such natural assets we have been blessed with is preserved for our fuDa sinistra Elsia Grandcourt ex Ceo stb, Producer Cristiano De Masi, Sherlyn ture generations. Furneau ex Miss Seychelles 2012, Ministro del Turismo Alain St.Ange.

From the authoritative view of your career, what is the current situation of tourism in the Seychelles? The tourism industry of the Seychelles is enjoying a solid growth towards its consolidation. Too often even our population is today taking the success of our tourism industry for granted. We all know that tourism is a fragile industry. It often reacts to effects beyond our own control. As we remain mid-ocean islands, the continued success of our industry means adequate air connectivity. These are all challenges of a small island state which we are overcoming because we work hard to remain relevant as a tourism destination and we go beyond borders to sustain the needed visibility to keep us the relevant destination we need to be. In a period of generally well-known global economic crisis, as people could invest in targeted travel? Do you think that there is a philosophy of exotic trip at an affordable cost? Seychelles has unfortunately been stuck to be a destination only for the peoples of the world. This is but a perception as our islands offers the whole range of accommodation network. We of course have the boutique resorts for the rich and famous, but we also have the small home grown establishments for the holiday makers looking for this dream holiday of a lifetime. The philosophy driving the management of our destination is the de-

termination for us to succeed as this industry of ours provides work for our people, it remains the pillar of our country’s economy and it puts money in the pockets of our population at large. Seychelles has been able to retain its appeal because we have ensured, against all odds, to remain as visible as possible in the four corners of the world. We have also been able to be seen as a serious destination by our trade partners. Dear Minister, you have lived professional experiences anywhere in the British Isles, Australia, in Europe... Can you briefly describe the heart and the peculiarities of your type of work? My working life has been concentrated to the one industry and this is tourism. After my hotel and tourism studies in Germany and France I have worked right through my working life in tourism. I have done hotels and restaurants, tour operating and tourism management at government tourism offices. As tourism is and remains a people’s industry I have always been guided by the basic principle of remaining myself, the industry that I believe in, and above all I have been true to myself and to my country.

Try to imagine to take us by the hand and guide us with your words through the Seychelles. What can you do in a week and what, instead, in a month? Today my work entails overseeing the Seychelles tourism industry. It is primarily the policy that drives the industry of our islands to ensure that our islands tourism industry is consolidated for the long term. Meeting the industry players, meeting the employees who make our hotels work, and planning our industry’s future dictates my daily work. I am committed to my work and to my country and to the need to ensure that our tourism industry works for the benefit of our people. What is the most beautiful view from the window of your living room / office? The beautiful sights of the Seychelles, the sounds from the birds, the smell from the beautiful exotic flowers all meet me when I look through a window from my home or from my office window. This is the tropics and this is the real definition of ‘sight & sounds’ from the perfect tourism destination. Tourism is an important part of the economy. As you groom with your travel philosophy? Tourism is the pillar of the Seychelles economy. Tourism provides work for our people and puts money in the pockets of our people. To achieve this, and to ensure that we deliver as is expected of us by our people we plan and we strategize to ensure success. The weight of this important responsibility lies on the shoulders of all of us in the Ministry of Tourism. This is why we meet with our private sector partners to plan our way forward. This we do because the private public sector partnership works for our industry and for our country’s economy. What should never miss in your suitcase? My sense of humour, my island style of personality and my love for my country are the things I always carry with me as I move round the world as a tourism ambassador for Seychelles. As a fisherman would ensure he is at sea, look for the known fishing bank to drop anchor and start fishing to get his fish to the market, I go to tourism markets to get Seychelles known and to ensure Seychelles remains visible to bring tourists to our islands.
