Cosa sarebbe una primavera senza fiori? Inimmaginabile. Appunto: nessun sarto che ha presentato le sue collezioni a Parigi ha potuto fare a meno di rappresentare sui propri abiti il mondo vegetale che si risveglia alla bella stagione. E appena possibile, se non evocando i fiori su stampe o nella forma della mise stessa, ogni couturier, aiutato dalle preziose piccole mani, ha applicato fiori in tre dimensioni su spalline – creando un fitto bouquet a palloncino – sull’abito intero o addirittura su stravaganti copricapi. Rifiniti con paillettes, con fil di ferro, perline o tessuti preziosi, questi fiori dai mille colori possono rispecchiarsi tali e quali nei loro fratelli gemelli delle aiuole o, al contrario, essere unici poiché nati direttamente dalla fantasia del loro creatore. LA LEGGENDA DEI FIORI D’ARANCIO THE TRADITION OF ORANGE BLOSSOMS di GINA SCARANO
Quando pensiamo o sentiamo parlare di fiori d’arancio immediatamente il nostro pensiero corre al matrimonio, talmente questo fiore e questa cerimonia sono legati tra di loro da secoli di storia e di leggende. Sempre presenti nelle grandi storie d’amore, i fiori sono gli unici “gioielli” consentiti dal Galateo nel giorno delle nozze. Se tra i fiori più scelti ci sono i gelsomini, le rose bianche, le orchidee e le calle, la parte da leone la recitano da sempre i fiori d’arancio, simbolo di fertilità, sostituibili anche con alcune gocce della loro essenza tra i capelli della sposa. Sono tantissime le spose che decidono di unirsi in matrimonio pronunciando il fatidico “Sì” con stretto in mano un bel bouquet di fiori d’arancio, rispettando, così una tradizione di cui, però, ignorano totalmente l’origine che si perde nella notte dei tempi fino a diventare una leggenda. Si racconta, infatti, che tutto ebbe inizio moltissimi anni fa quando il re di Spagna ricevette in dono da una bellissima principessa una pianta, altrettanto bella, di arancio. Questa pianta era per il re talmente incantevole che il sovrano finì con l’innamorarsene perdutamente, considerandola la pianta più bella e soave di tutte le altre. Il suo profumo lo inebriava e, inoltre, era anche molto preziosa dato che, in tutto il suo regno, era l’unica persona a possederne una. A corte un giorno si presentò un ambasciatore di un altro regno che, incuriosito da questa splendida pianta, chiese al re spagnolo di fargliene dono di un ramoscello, ricevendo però, per tutta risposta, un perentorio diniego. Mai e poi mai il re avrebbe concesso anche solo una foglia della sua pianta più unica e amata, figuriamoci un intero ramoscello! Desiderando a tutti i costi almeno un ramoscello, l’ambasciatore non demorse dal suo intento e decise di andare a chiedere aiuto al giardiniere di corte che, gentilmente, accolse la sua richesta e di nascosto dal re, ne potò un piccolo ramo, accontentandolo. L’ambasciatore, come ricompensa, donò al giardiniere ben 50 monete d’oro senza sapere di aver fatto un grandissimo gesto d’amore. Il giardiniere, infatti, viveva in ristrettezze economiche e non potendo garantire alcuna dote alla pur bellissima figlia, non riusciva a maritarla, così la giovane donna viveva da anni nella tristezza e nella desolazione di non poter mai conoscere il vero amore. Ma suo padre prese quelle 50 monete d’oro e le regalò tutte a sua figlia in modo così da poterle usare come dote, consentendole dunque di sposarsi poiché in precedenza nessuno voleva la sua mano, a causa della povertà in cui versava la famiglia. Il giorno del fatidico sì con un gentiluomo che si rivelò essere l’uomo perfetto per lei, colui che l’avrebbe amata per sempre, al di là della dote, la ragazza, innamorata, capì di dover tutto a quella pianta di arancio, così, in omaggio proprio a lei che era stata la sua fortuna, il giorno del matrimonio adornò i suoi lunghi capelli, sciolti sulle spalle, con un ramoscello di fiori d’arancio come fosse la più bella delle corone perchè la sua preziosità stava tutta nell’averle garantito quell’amore e quella felicità che tanto aveva sognato. Da quel giorno in poi è tradizione beneaugurante per la sposa avere con se, se non tutto un bouquet di fiori d’arancio, almeno un fiore di questa pianta, infilato tra gli altri, per assicurare felicità e prosperità al proprio Amore.

When we think of or hear talking of orange blossoms, our thought immediately goes to weddings. After all they are linked by centuries of history and myths. Always present in the great love stories, flowers are the most beloved “jewels” in matrimonial etiquette. On a wedding day, jasmines, white roses, orchids and lilies are certainly top of the list. But the lion’s share of this contest goes to orange blossoms, a symbol of fertility, whose fragrance is often added to a bride’s hair with the help of some perfume drops. Many brides choose to wed and say the faithful “yes” with a nice orange blossom bouquet in their arms, thus continuing a tradition whose origin they ignore; an origin that belongs to the depths of time and has now become a myth. Rumour has it that all began when, a long time ago, the Spanish King received an orange tree as a gift from a beautiful princess. Because the tree was so charming, the sovereign fell deeply in love with it and considered it the most beautiful and pleasing of all plants. Its perfume was very inebriating and the fact that it was the only orange tree in the kingdom made this plant very precious. One day a foreign ambassador arrived at court. He was very curious about this wonderful pant. So he asked the Spanish king for a tiny orange tree twig, but the king refused to oblige. He would have never parted with even a single leaf of his beloved tree, let alone a whole twig! But the ambassador wanted it so badly and refused to back off. So he decided to ask the court gardener for some help. He agreed to help him and unknown to the king, he pruned a little twig. As a reward, the ambassador gave the gardener 50 gold coins and unwittingly committed an act of love. The gardener was indeed living in poverty and could not afford to give his beautiful daughter a dowry. So nobody would marry her and the young woman lived in total sadness and desolation, for she thought she would never know what love is like. But his father gave her all his 50 gold coins as dowry, so she could afford to get married after so many years spent being rejected for the poverty in which her family lived. On the day she was about to wed a gentleman, the perfect man for her, the one who would have loved her forever, with or without dowry, the enamoured girl understood how much she owed to an orange tree. To repay her gratitude, on her wedding day, she adorned her long flowing hair with a small orange blossom twig. To her this was the most beautiful of all crowns for it had granted her that love and that happiness that she had been dreaming of all her life. From that day on it became good luck for a bride to have with herself an orange blossom bouquet, or at least just one of its flowers among some others. This tradition is supposed to make sure that happiness and prosperity may surround her love for good.

FREGATE ISLAND PRIVATE Fregate Island Private è una piccola isola privata, di 3 kmq di superficie, raggiungibile da Mahè Isola delle Seychelles in 20 minuti di elicottero. L’isola di straordinaria bellezza, è un autentico rifugio per diverse specie di uccelli marini, tra la fregata da cui l’isola ne acquisisce il nome e conserva intatta tutta la sua natura tropicale. In questa isola vi sono 16 esclusive dimore, ville con una o due camere da letto che misurano da 400 a 500 mq, due di queste (Private Pool Villa) hanno anche la piscina privata ed una superficie di 600 mq. Ciascuna villa dispone di un maggiordomo e di una buggy per spostarsi liberamente nell’isola.
