Cuando el auto traspasa la ruta con el cartel de bienvenida a destino. Cuando el avión aterriza. Cuando el barco ancla. Llegamos. Ese es el instante mágico en que sentimos que el viaje ha comenzado. Fue hace 10 años y 50 ediciones que sentimos, como Huéspedes, esa emoción por primera vez en el Camino de los Siete Lagos. Eran inciertas las rutas que se abrirían pero éramos una apuesta conciente al placer de viajar y orientar al que quiere llegar una y otra vez. Armamos un equipo donde coinciden talento y amistad. Nos reciben con alegría en cada punto del mapa. Soñamos y concretamos una familia viajera. Crecimos en páginas, nos renovamos, cubrimos el mapa argentino de puntitos felices que significan “hasta acá también llegamos”. Empezamos a sumar millas internacionales. Vimos amanecer sobre el Perito Moreno, nos bautizó un salto de las Cataratas, dormimos en plena selva y sobre las Salinas Grandes de Jujuy. Nos salpicaron ballenas en Península Valdés, nos aventuramos al Estrecho de Magallanes, desandamos caminos benévolos y rústicos, cosechamos, hicimos picnics entre caballos salvajes, desbordamos carpetas con mapas, itinerarios y boarding pass. 50 ediciones después, estamos orgullosos de ser Huéspedes. Y agradecidos con ustedes por viajar a través de nuestras páginas. Esa es la mejor manera de sentir que llegamos.S
When the car goes under the billboard welcoming you to your destination. When the plane lands. When the boat reaches port. We arrive. It is the magical instant in which we feel the trip has begun. It was 10 years and 50 editions ago that, as Huéspedes, we felt that emotion for the first time in the Seven Lakes Tour. Future routs were uncertain. We were a conscious bet on the pleasure of traveling, discovering, guiding those that wanted to arrive once and again. We created a team where talent and friendship come together. We are well received at every point on the map. We dreamt and created a traveling family. We grew in pages, we renewed, we covered the map of Argentina with happy points that mean “we were here too”. Then we started adding international miles. We had the pleasure of seeing the sunrise over the Perito Moreno glacier, we got our baptism under one of the Iguazú falls, slept in the jungle and on the Great Salt Flats on a 6x6. The whales splashed us at Valdés Peninsula, we braved the Magellan Straights, we followed benevolent and rustic roads, we harvested, had picnics surrounded by wild horses, we lost count of the maps, boarding passes and itineraries we put in the travel folder. Fifty editions later, we are proud to be Huéspedes. And we are grateful to you for traveling through our pages. That is the best way to feel we have arrived.S

Molino Forclaz san josé, entre ríos
Robusto, bello pero esquivo, el Molino Forclaz –que hoy es testimonio histórico y Museo Provincial- nunca produjo la cantidad de harina que se pretendía de él. Fue Jean baptiste Forclaz el inmigrante suizo que instaló el primer molino a malacate sobre esta loma de San José en 1859, el que aún está en el galpón. Su hijo, 29 años más tarde, cual quijote, puso a funcionar el sueño de un molino de viento. Sin embargo, su deseo derivó en locura al concluir que esta región no era apta para hacer girar las aspas como en Europa.S

Robust, beautiful, but elusive, the Forclaz Mill –that is today a historical testimony and Provincial Museum- never produced the amount of flour pretended. Jean Bapitiste Forclaz, a Suisse immigrant installed the first capstan mill driven by mules on this San José hill in 1859, and it is the same machinery you find today in the shed. His son, 29 years later, installed a windmill, like the European models. But his desire ended in madness, when he concluded that the region did not have the necessary winds, like you find in Europe.S

Rumbo al Valle de Aconquija, se abre un camino sinuoso que invita a ser recorrido sin desperdicio. Cada curva de la cuesta del Clavillo se desliza en la altura como esquivando las nubes sin molestarlas. La sensación queda grabada en la memoria gracias a que el paisaje cobra una dimensión muy poco común. oculto entre las nubes, un entorno selvático se refugia en los precipicios que enmarcan el recorrido. Los cerros se entrecruzan y, como fondo, se extienden frente a la mirada las cimas blanqueadas de los Nevados del Aconquija. Esta cordillera se extiende por poco más más de cien kilómetros, sus cumbres superan los 5.000 metros de altura y albergan nieves eternas, lo que permitió la formación de circos glaciares en sus cumbres. Las montañas más bajas están cubiertas de bosques densos de alisos. El camino poco a poco empieza a perder algunas de sus incesantes curvas al pasar por La banderita, donde sobreviven las ruinas de una vieja estación de policía que parece ocultarse entre la bruma. su cauce parte del paisaje, caracterizado por la yunga catamarqueña, con sus cerros y faldeos cubiertos de pastos cortos y margaritas. El clima es de una tranquilidad absoluta como si el tiempo pasara más lento, sin ningún apuro. dentro del gran valle de Aconquija el camino se entrelaza con varios pueblos y lugares que ofrecen a los turistas un contraste de opciones. Caminatas entre la naturaleza permiten volver satisfechos con las vistas y las fotos de extensos paisajes. En el Pantanito, también hay lugar para los aventureros que se animen a disfrutar de lanzarse sobre el paisaje, en una tirolesa que se encuentra a unos 2.000 metros de altura y que recorre un extenso barranco. Sentir el viento en la cara a medida que se cruza colgado de un cable y rodeado de un inmenso paisaje es una experiencia imperdible. El recorrido por los pueblitos también ofrece artesanías que ameritan hacer un alto en el camino. Las tallas en maderas tan diversas como el palo santo, el cebil, el algarrobo y el quebracho parecen brotar sin esfuerzo de las manos de

Coco Rojano, un escultor que fundó su propio museo y que expone en el casco de su estancia El Lindero. Marta Ramos, por su parte, se destaca en el tallado de hueso y en la elaboración de botones que llevan su marca personal y su historia en este oficio. Alto de las Juntas, Las Estancias, El Alamito y buena Vista, entre otros, adornan el camino rumbo al planetario Janaxpacha Huasi que se encuentra en el imponente Valle de Aconquija. Su nombre en lengua quechua significa “Casa del Cielo” y, sin duda, hace honor al apelativo. Al entrar, reciben los guías Raúl y Miguel en un auditorio con butacas para 60 personas ubicadas frente a una pantalla gigante donde se proyectan las imágenes del universo. En la planta superior, cuatro telescopios permiten observar los planetas, las nebulosas y las estrellas. La luna es para muchos la protagonista, dejando descubrir sus valles, montañas y cráteres con una nitidez sorprendente. también se puede observar a Júpiter, el planeta más grande de nuestro sistema solar con sus cuatro lunas principales, a Marte, con su rojo característico y a Saturno con sus anillos. Pero saliendo del planetario uno de los guías ofrece un plus a los visitantes: les enseña a descubrir las constelaciones a cielo abierto con la ayuda de un puntero láser. Así queda a la vista que el cielo de Catamarca es tan hipnotizante como sus paisajes, ambos seductores natos para enamorar a los viajeros.S

On the way to the Aconquija Valley there is a winding road that invites us to a tour that has no waste. Each curve of the Clavillo slope slides on high, as if skirting the clouds without touching them. Hiding among the clouds, a jungle environment takes refuge in the cliffs surrounding the road. The mountains crisscross, and extend to the white tops of the Nevados del Aconquija. This range is a bit more than a hundred kilometers long, its peaks are more than 5000 meters high and have eternal snows, which explains the formation of glaciers at the top. The lowest mountains are covered with dense Alder forests. The road slowly looses its curves at the height of La Banderita, where we find the ruins of an old police station, that seems to hide in the fog. Yunka Suma is a picturesque place, surrounded by a subtle green. The Potrero river traverses the landscape, the Catamarca yunga, with its mountains and slopes covered with short grass and daisies. The climate is calm, as if time went by slower here, with no hurry. Within the great valley of the Aconquija, the road touches several towns and localities with a contrast of options. A walk in the midst of nature allows us to return with vistas and snapshots of extensive landscapes. In el Pantanito, there are also places for adventurers that enjoy launching themselves on a zip-line, at a height of 2000 meters, by an extensive ravine. Feeling the wind in your face as you cross over, hanging from a cable and surrounded by the immense landscape is an experience you will not want to miss. The tour of the towns also offers artisan products that merit a stop. There are wood carvings in palo santo (holy wood), cebil (Anadenanthera colubrine), carob, quebracho (Schinopsis balansae), that seem to sprout with no effort from the hands of Coco Rojano, a sculptor who created his own museum and that presents his works at his ranch house, in the El Lindero estancia. On the other hand, Marta Ramos excels in bone carving and in producing buttons that carry her personal mark and her history in this specialty. Alto de las Juntas, Las Estancias, El Alamito and Buena Vista, among others, adorn the road on the way to the Janxpacha Huasi planetarium, in the imposing Aconquija Valley. The name in Quechua means “House of the Sky”, and no doubt it honors its name. When we come in, we are received by the guides, Raul and Miguel, in an auditorium with seats for 60 people, across from a giant screen where the images of the universe are projected. On the next floor, there are four telescopes, that let you see the planets, the stars and the nebula. For many the Moon is the main attraction, with its valleys, mountains and craters, that you can see with surprising clarity. You can also see Jupiter, the biggest planet in our solar system, Mars with its characteristic red color and Saturn with its rings. But outside the planetarium one of the guides offers us visitors a plus: he teaches us to discover the constellations in the open sky, with the help of a laser beam. So we see the Catamarca sky is as hypnotizing as its landscapes, and both seduce all travelers alike.S

¿Por qué será que lo primero que una madre mira a la hora de alquilar o comprar un auto es si el baúl es lo suficientemente grande como para hacer entrar todo el universo de su bebé allí mismo? ¿Por qué será que la segunda pregunta, después del horario de salida de un vuelo hacia las vacaciones, es cuántos bolsos y adminículos para los chicos se puede transportar en el avión? Llevar todo lo necesario (en esto no encuadra solamente lo imprescindible, sino todo lo que una madre exagerada puede considerar como deseable por su hijo fuera del hogar) de seguro depara una multa por exceso de equipaje de la línea aérea, un problema mayúsculo a la hora de guardar en la valija o empaquetar los objetos, y ni qué hablar de la cantidad de tiempo que pasará el padre con las manos apoyadas sobre el contorno del baúl del auto para resolver un tetris en el que sobran, por lo menos, dos piezas. Por suerte, cada vez es más sencillo encontrar hoteles que faciliten desde una bañera hasta una silla de comer, que esperen a los bebés con la practicuna con sábanas flamantes, o conquisten a los más grandes con disponibilidad de juguetes, dVd’s y Playstation en espacios a su medida. Aunque no todos los kids club son para todas las edades, ni poseen maestras o cuidadoras a toda hora del día. Así que es mejor consultarlo, exigir sinceridad sobre el servicio y no llegar con falsas expectativas ni juguetes de menos. Mientras tanto, en el mundo y ahora también en buenos Aires, hay servicios pensados por mamás que alguna vez pasaron por la experiencia de la sobrecarga. Son empresas especializadas en alquiler de equipamientos para bebés y niños: no solo tienen cunas, no. Hay esterilizadores de mamaderas, triciclos, mecedoras para amamantar, pañales por tonelada. Aquí, la experiencia la acaba de estrenar bebéba, así que bienvenida la idea para evitar “las mudanzas”.S
Why is it the first thing a mother considers when renting or buying a car is if the trunk is big enough to carry the whole universe of her baby? Why is it that the second question, after asking for the flight time for a dream vacation, is how many bags for kids can be carried on the plane? Carrying everything necessary (this includes not only indispensable stuff, but everything an exaggerated mother could consider desirable for her child outside home) no doubt will mean paying a fine for excess baggage, which is a big problem when you are deciding what to pack and how to protect objects. And the father will spend a long time with his hands on the edge of the trunk, trying to solve a puzzle in which there are at least to pieces more than can fit. Luckily it is getting much easier to find hotels that offer babybaths and chairs, awaiting the babies with a crib with new sheets for a good nap or that seduce the bigger children with toys, DVD and Playstation in spaces their size. Though not all kid clubs are for all ages, or have teachers or caretakers all day. So it is best to find out, and not have false expectations or forget toys that could help the kids have a better stay at a place they do not know. Meanwhile, in the real world and also in Buenos Aires now, there are services organized by mothers that once had the experience of the puzzle and the extra weight. There are companies specializing in renting equipment for babies and children: they not only have cribs. They have sterilized bottles, tricycles, rocking chairs for breast-feeding, tons of diapers. Here Bebéba has just started such an experience, so it is welcome news to avoid having to “move the house with you”.S

EL CALAFATE.– Recorrer el Lago Argentino, internarse en sus inmensos canales y navegarlos, observando los inmensos témpanos que se desprenden de los glaciares que lo nutren es una experiencia impactante. Si bien ya lo habíamos hecho en varias oportunidades, no dejaba de sorprendernos la variedad de formas y gamas de azules y blanco que la naturaleza podía ofrecernos con tan solo agua y frío. Sin embargo, esta vez era diferente. Nos embarcamos en unos kayaks en una travesía que iba a ser inolvidable. Navegando por el Canal Upsala, llegamos con un barco hasta una costa que nos permitió descargar los kayaks y, a la vez, tomar sus orillas como punto de partida. Nos equipamos con trajes secos que nos protegerían en caso de caer al agua, extremadamente fría. Al equipo sumamos guantes y, por supuesto, los salvavidas de rigor. Comenzamos remando de manera controlada, como reconociendo el terreno, que en este caso se caracterizaba por un fuerte viento y un oleaje que nos permitía avanzar sin grandes complicaciones. Ya lejos de la costa, nuestras miradas se fijaron en un témpano inmenso que navegaba a la deriva. Con cada palada nos acercábamos un poco más y sus paredes escarpadas adquirían una presencia imponente. Ingresamos en una laguna interna, dentro de ese descomunal témpano. Su altura y su tamaño estaban fuera de nuestra escala. Desde nuestros kayaks, al ras del agua, pudimos registrar esa inmensidad en las paredes de hielo que nos rodeaban, brindándonos un espectáculo que jamás olvidaremos.S

Though we had already done it on several occasions, we are still surprised by the variety of shapes and tones of blue and white that nature can offer just with water and cold. But this time it was different. We embarked in kayaks on a trip that would be unforgettable. Navigating the Upsala Canal, we took a ship to a coast that allowed us to unload the kayaks and, at the same time, stake out the shore as our starting point. We were equipped with dry suits that would protect us in case we fell in the water, extremely cold. We added gloves and, of course, life-savers. We started rowing at a controlled rhythm, recognizing the area, that in this case presented strong winds and waves, but we were able to go forward without great complications. Far from the coast, our eyes fixed on an immense iceberg, drifting along. We came closer and closer and its ragged walls were becoming imposing. We entered an inner lagoon, within this enormous iceberg. Its height and size were on a tremendous scale. From our kayaks in the water we were able to film the immensity of the ice walls that surrounded us, offering a spectacle we will never forget.S

Si se busca cercanía con animales fuera del registro habitual, hay dos destinos que podrán dar esa oportunidad única y diferencial: uno es Península Valdés, Chubut; el otro, Puerto Deseado, Santa Cruz. En el golfo San Matías, cientos de ejemplares de ballena franca austral llegan fieles de mayo a noviembre, para reproducirse y dar a luz sus crías. Bastará una excursión regular en un bote partiendo de Pirámides para poder tenerlas al alcance de cualquier cámara sin zoom. Más allá de que el paisaje es una enorme excusa para recorrer Tilcara, Purmamarca y las localidades enlazadas por el circuito Patrimonio de la Humanidad de Jujuy, la arquitectura es una expresión sumamente válida para decidir el viaje porque habla de un pasado que se revaloriza permentemente en el presente. Hay detalles perdurables de la cultura ancestral en los muros anchos de piedra y adobe de las casas y en el pirqueado que delimita los terrenos, como si fueran una extensión de la geografía en color y composición material. Ello convive con la impronta hispánica colonial que dejó su sello en herrajes, altares y cúpulas de iglesias datadas en el siglo XVII. Este invierno, las campañas de seguridad vial apuntaron a los jóvenes: el gobierno provincial de Mendoza lanzó el lema “Vos elegís cómo terminar la noche”, y la Agencia Provincial de Seguridad Vial de Santa Fe montó la acción “Viva la Noche”. Pero también los más grandes deben cuidarse de no tomar. El peligro del alcohol al volante no es exclusivo de la noche ni de los jóvenes. una visita a una bodega, un almuerzo campestre con vino tinto o un simple aperitivo pueden complicar las vacaciones. Por eso, la ANSV (Agencia Nacional de Seguridad Vial) ha extendido los controles de alcoholemia a las rutas y localidades turísticas del interior con el operativo invierno. Si bien el límite legal para conducir es de 0.5gr de alcohol por litro de sangre, hay estudios realizados por el CESVi (Centro de Experimentación y Seguridad Vial) que indican que apenas 0,15 gr/l es suficiente para volverse un conductor peligroso. Con esta medición aumenta 40% la imprecisión de las maniobras y 16% el tiempo de reacción. Aún en pequeñas dosis, las consecuencias primarias se localizan sobre la vista, disminuyendo la visión periférica. No contar con esta habilidad es como conducir un automóvil a través de un túnel. Al ser el alcohol una sustancia hidrosoluble, un hombre con mayor masa corporal (o sea, más agua en su cuerpo) soportará más copas que una mujer de menor peso. El pico de alcohol en sangre se dará entre 30 y 40 minutos después de la última bebida y, recién a partir de allí, comenzará a descender, dependiendo de cómo funcione nuestro hígado. El promedio será de 0.1 g/l por hora para los varones y de 0.07 para las chicas. Ni tomar café ni una ducha aceleran la metabolización y eliminación del alcohol. Sin duda, cinco tazas de café negro o su equivalente en una bebida energizante de moda estimulan, pero sólo generan un “ebrio despierto” igualmente peligroso que quien no las haya bebido. This winter safe driving campaigns were oriented towards young people: the provincial government of Mendoza presented the slogan “You choose how to end the night”, and the provincial road safety agency of Santa Fe proposed: “Viva la noche” (Enjoy nightlife). Even in small amounts, the primary consequences are concentrated in the eyesight, reducing peripheral vision. Not having this capacity is like driving a car through a tunnel. Alcohol being soluble in water, a man with a greater body mass (i.e., more water in his body) can absorb more than a woman that is smaller. The highest concentration in the blood will be 30 to 40 minutes after the last drink and only then does it start to decrease, according to how our liver works. The average is 0,1 g/l in the hour for men and 0,07 for women. Neither drinking coffee nor a shower make you metabolize or eliminate alcohol faster. Ojo de bife con vegetales asados a la parrilla Tenderloin with barbecued vegetables
Ingredientes • Ojo de bife • Calabaza, batata, papines • Portobelo • Tomate • Tomillo, Curry, Comino • Cebolla grelot y ajo

Procedimiento
Procedure
Cortar los tomates, papines y cebollas baby al medio. Pelar y cortar en cubos irregulares pero parejos el resto de los vegetales, para que la cocción sea uniforme. Condimentar los tomates con sal, azúcar, aceite de oliva y tomillo, y reservar. Por otro lado, condimentar el resto de los vegetales con curry, comino, aceite de oliva y sal. Cocinar en plancha sobre la parrilla a fuego lento, o en horno de barro cubierto con papel aluminio, respetando el punto de cada vegetal. Marinar el bife con aceite de oliva, pimienta molida, tomillo y sal gruesa durante no menos de 15 minutos, luego asar en parrilla hasta obtener el punto deseado y dejar reposar. Una vez cocidos los vegetales, disponerlos sobre un plato, filetear la carne y colocarla sobre los vegetales. Salsear el conjunto con el jugo de cocción.S
