En el municipio de Ezequiel Montes, a 60 kilómetros de la ciudad de Querétaro, está la Villa de San Sebastián de Bernal, mejor conocido como Bernal Pueblo Mágico. Es sabido que un Pueblo Mágico es una localidad con atributos simbólicos, leyendas y magia, así que las tradiciones y relevancia histórica han hecho del lugar un destino fabuloso para el turista: es como ir a otra época, su tranquilidad es deliciosa y, sobre todo, resalta el inmenso monolito que le da nombre. ¡Se ve desde casi todo el pueblo! En Peña de Bernal vas a ver muchas creaciones de lana: allí se trabaja con ese noble material para hacer prendas súper originales y de buena calidad. En cuanto a comida típica, no dejes de probar las tradicionales y muy ricas gorditas de maíz quebrado: ¡son altamente recomendables y casi adictivas! Parte del viaje debe incluir una visita a los viñedos La Redonda. Se debe a que millones de partículas de plancton generan su luz propia, como hacen las luciérnagas, que se multiplica por el movimiento de las olas. El fenómeno es totalmente inofensivo, por lo cual puedes meterte al agua sin peligro.
Dazzling beaches During some dark nights between July and January, the water on the beach produces a shiny turquoise, blue and silver light. This is because of millions of plankton particles generating their own light, like lightning bugs do, which is multiplied by the waves. The phenomenon is completely harmless, for which you can get into the water without any danger.
Considera que allí vas a ir a descansar, pues sólo una parte de la isla está habitada –inicialmente llegaron algunas familias y pocos extranjeros, quienes hicieron de Holbox su nuevo hogar-, así que puedes pasear descalzo y convivir con sus amables pobladores de la manera más relajada. Hay casas de madera pintadas de colores y techos de palma, por lo que ni te vas acordar del bullicio de las grandes ciudades. Es un lugar que tiene su propio ritmo, lejos del mundo. SABOR A ORO En esta época el jitomate es un ingrediente delicioso para preparar platillos frescos; desde el punto de vista científico es un fruto, pero desde el punto de vista culinario es una verdura, pues se usa más en platos salados.
Es originario de este país: su nombre viene del náhuatl xictli -ombligoy tomtl -tomate, que significa “tomate de ombligo”, y evidencias arqueológicas demuestran que era cultivado en México desde el año 700 a.C. Cuando los españoles lo descubrieron quedaron fascinados por el largo tiempo de vida que tiene después de ser cosechado, y lo llevaron a sus colonias de El Caribe, a las Islas Filipinas y claro, a Europa, donde los italianos lo llamaron Pomo di oro porque les pareció una radiante manzana de oro.
A TASTE OF GOLD In this season, the tomato is a delicious ingredient to prepare fresh dishes; from a scientific perspective it is a fruit, although from a culinary perspective it is a vegetable, as it is more used in salty dishes.
It is native to this country: its name comes from the Nahuatl language xictli (umbilicus) and tomatl (tomato), which means “umbilicus tomato”, and archeological evidence has shown that it was cultivated in Mexico since the year 700 BC. When the Spaniards discovered it, they were astonished by the extensive life span it possesses after being harvested , and they took it to their Caribbean colonies, to the Philippines, and of course to Europe, where the Italians called it Pomo di oro, since it looked like a radiant golden apple to them.

n ese increíble lugar, Checo Barrera Sepúlveda, emprendedor y socialité tapatío, platica su experiencia como cabeza de familia. “No sé cuál es la diferencia entre ser un papá moderno y uno de antes; la idea es equilibrar trabajo, desestrés y hobbies, para que el tiempo en familia valga la pena”, dice. En su día a día Checo suspende sus actividades laborales para ir a comer a su casa, pues es momento de ver a su esposa y a sus hijos; también disfruta mucho ir de viaje en familia. “Viajamos con los niños y, a veces ella, y yo. Además, soy fanático de los deportes, por lo que parte de los viajes es ir a ver un deporte en la ciudad donde estemos, y cuando nos quedamos en casa hago un asado, vemos deportes en televisión y convivimos con amigos que también tienen hijos”, comparte. Su éxito como emprendedor se debe a que “desde niño anduve en muchas escuelas, fui súper inquieto, y eso me permitió abrirme a las relaciones públicas, así que de adulto fue fácil trabajar en el posicionamiento de marcas. El gran cambio fue ser padre, es la etapa que más me ha gustado: la vida de familia me encanta, soy un hombre 100% de casa, ¡pago por estar con mi familia!, y estoy enfocado en ellos y en mis negocios, sin descuidar mi vida social”, relata.

FAMILY TIME An excellent plan to celebrate Father’s Day is to spend a few days at Hacienda Lomajim. It is less than one hour from Guadalajara, its architecture is from the 17th century, and it brings together traditional Mexican art and contemporary expressions. Additionally, it has the best view of the San Cristobal Canyon. In this incredible place, Checo Barrera Sepúlveda, entrepreneur and Guadalajara socialite, talks about his experience as head of family. “I don’t know what is the difference between being a modern dad and being a past time dad; the idea is to balance work, lower stress and hobbies, so that family time can be valuable”, he says. On his day, Checo puts on hold his labor activities to have lunch at home, since it is the time to see his wife and children; he also enjoys very much travelling with his family. “We travel with the kids, and sometimes just the two of us. I am also a sports buff, so travelling also means to attend a sport event in the city we are visiting, and when we stay at home I do a barbecue, we watch sports on TV and spend the time with friends who also have children”, he shares. His entrepreneurial success is due to the fact that “since I was a child I attended many different schools, I was very restless, and this allowed me to open up myself to public relations, so as an adult it made it easy to work on brand positioning. The big change was to become a father, it is the stage I have liked the most: I love the family life, I am 100% a home man, I pay to be with my family, and I am focused on them and on my businesses, without leaving behind my social life”, he narrates.

Así, el funcionario creó y puso en marcha el Programa Estatal de Turismo de Guanajuato, que tiene como meta crecer la competitividad, impulsar una política para la transformación y transversalidad del sector, consolidar de manera sustentable la oferta turística, fortalecer la identidad turística, mejorar la legislación

que impacta a la actividad turística y vigilar su cumplimiento. El compromiso que Fernando Olivera tiene con Guanajuato se refleja en resultados: “Las acciones de internacionalización, capacitación y acuerdos estratégicos para crecer la conectividad aérea nos permitieron subir dos puntos en el ranking nacional de los destinos más visitados. Y en el noreste de Guanajuato tenemos una gran área de oportunidad para el Turismo de Aventura y Ecoturístico; por ejemplo, en el Municipio de Victoria se abrirá un espacio que, gracias al trabajo del INHA, podrán apreciarse las pinturas rupestres, lo que detonará la zona”, externa el Secretario. Desde luego, los turistas jóvenes son tomados
en cuenta en la oferta turística de Guanajuato mediante el Turismo Deportivo, que “ofrece la oportunidad de vivir la adrenalina, además que viajan por tener una experiencia que desean compartir con sus amigos o familiares, y Guanajuato es el destino idóneo para vivirlo por su ubicación y fácil acceso por aire y tierra”, indica Olivera Rocha. PUERTO VALLARTA IN MY HISTORY Puerto Vallarta has been one of my favorite destinations since I could remember. At the age of 10, I would spend all my vacation at the pool and get together with my dad’s friend’s kids; then at 12, I started inviting my friends and at 15, I started enjoying going out to the “Malecon” to bump into all the people from the city that you see at the beach with another type of “mood”.
I have the best memories of my life, going through all the stages of my adolescence and having fun. They were like the golden years...Now, every time I go back, I remember all that, but Puerto Vallarta continues to have that unique charm like the first time that I enjoyed swimming among the pool tiles of the apartments where I stayed at in Conchas Chinas and the same smell of salt you get when you’re walking on the beach, that peculiar “gringo” environment, though we were never part of it, we were flattered of being in the same place hanging out or sharing some words in English and teaching them something traditional of Mexico.
PUERTO VALLARTA EN MI HISTORIA Puerto Vallarta ha sido uno de mis destinos preferidos desde que me acuerdo. A mis 10 años pasaba todas las vacaciones en la alberca y me juntaba con los hijos de los amigos de mis papás; después a los 12, empezaba a invitar a mis amigas, y a los 15 empezaba a disfrutar salir al malecón para encontrarte a toda esa gente de tu ciudad que ves en la playa con otro “mood”. Tengo los mejores recuerdos de mi vida, pasando por todas las etapas de mi adolescencia y diversión. Fueron como esos años de oro... Ahora cada vez que vuelvo, me acuerdo de todo eso, pero Puerto Vallarta sigue teniendo un encanto único como esa primera vez que disfrutaba en Conchas Chinas nadar entre los azulejos de la alberca de los departamentos en donde me hospedaba, y el mismo olor a sal que llega cuando vas caminando por la playa, ese peculiar ambiente gringo, que aunque nunca fuimos parte, nos halagaba estar en el mismo lugar conviviendo o compartiendo algunas palabras en inglés y enseñándoles a ellos algo tradicional de México. Es así como ahora que volví hace algunos días, no dejaba de pensar en todos esos momentos increíbles, en todo eso que queda atrás pero cuando vuelves a un lugar se queda en cada paisaje, y es ahí donde los lugares adquieren una magia especial, porque cada vez que regresas eres otro y eso es como si visitaras un nuevo lugar. Así es Puerto Vallarta para muchos mexicanos, un paraíso lleno de recuerdos. Love, Ch.
