Armonía absoluta Esta ocasión fui de viaje a la playa más bonita de Punta de Mita, en Riviera Nayarit, donde la arena blanca, las aguas verde-azuladas y el extraordinario clima tropical forman el escenario para que brille una nueva joya de la hotelería: Marival® Armony Luxury Resort & Suites, donde el lujo y la naturaleza se fusionan en una experiencia de comodidad y buen gusto. Desde el momento en que entré comprendí que el hotel fue ideado para brindar todo un deleite visual y sensorial, con un diseño arquitectónico inspirado en la naturaleza regional. La forma orgánica del lobby emula a la Playa Escondida, de las Islas Marietas; el ambiente es relajado y los muebles de diseño invitan a descansar. El personal nos recibió con toallas aromáticas húmedas, visten uniformes impecables y son amables todo el tiempo.

Absolut Harmony This time, I went on a trip to the most beautiful beach in Punta de Mita, on the Nayarit Riviera, where the white sand, the blue-green waters, and the extraordinary tropical climate, create the scene for a new hotel jewel to shine: Marival® Armony Luxury Resort & Suites, where luxury and nature merge into an experience of comfort and good taste. From the moment I got in, I understood that the hotel was designed to provide a visual and sensory delight, with an architectural design inspired by the regional nature. The organic shape of the lobby emulates Playa Escondida of the Marietas Islands; the atmosphere is relaxed and the designer furniture invites you to rest. The staff welcomed us with moist aromatic towels, wearing impeccable uniforms, and is always friendly.

DESTINO - PUNTA DE MITA Destination La armonía es la esencia de Marival® Armony Luxury Resort & Suites, ya que cada elemento tiene resonancia con los demás: los jardines complementan a la arquitectura y, de entre el follaje, las bocinas emiten una selección musical en estilo ambientlounge, creando la experiencia auditiva más deliciosa del mundo; la madera acanalada enmarca las puertas de las habitaciones y está presente en los elevadores; la señalética metálica es tan sencilla como funcional y puede leerse en cualquier idioma, entre mil detalles más. Al llegar a mi habitación encontré atenciones que me hicieron sentir más que bien recibido: una decoración exquisita con sutiles detalles, como el fino tapiz de la pared y lámparas de diseño. La cama es enorme, llena de cojines, con blancos de lujo y menú de almohadas; un armario dispuesto con batas y pantuflas de algodón, un escritorio -sobre el que pude escribir cómodamente en mi laptop-; el minibar es resurtido diario, caja de seguridad, Smart TV y cafetera. El baño es de proporciones armoniosas, con espacios muy bien aprovechados; ofrece toallas de gran calidad en varios tamaños, así como amenidades francesas de L´Occitane en Provence.

When entering my room, I found details that made me feel more than welcome: exquisite decoration with subtle details, such as the fine wall tapestry and designer lamps. Un detalle que me conquistó fue el ‘toque de buenas noches’: dejaron la cama preparada como me gusta y chocolates de cortesía, así que sólo llegué a abrir el ventanal corredizo para escuchar el oleaje y meterme entre las sábanas a descansar. Por cierto, un área increíble es el balcón con vista a la playa, muebles confortables y plantas tropicales.

whites and a pillow menu; a closet with cotton housecoats and slippers, a desk –on which I could comfortably write on my laptop-; the minibar is refilled daily, there is safe deposit box, a smart TV, and a coffee maker. The bathroom is of harmonious proportions, with very well used spaces; it offers high quality towels in various sizes, as well as French amenities from L’Occitane en Provence. A detail that conquered me was the “sound of goodnight”: they left the bed made as I like it, and complimentary chocolates, so I only got to open the sliding window to hear the ocean swell and to get into the sheets to rest. By the way, an amazing area is the balcony overlooking the beach, with comfortable furniture and tropical plants.

La experiencia no sólo se limita al increíble hotel, sino que incluye conocer el entorno, así que con Vallarta Adventures elegí el paseo en velero y repetiría la vivencia mil veces más, porque el recorrido es a lo largo de la Bahía de Banderas: en Los Arcos de Puerto Vallarta hicimos snorkel, luego anclamos frente a Playa Gemelas para hacer paddle board, y en todo momento el staff de la embarcación estuvo atento a lo que necesitábamos: desde agua mineral, camarones y ensalada hasta una barra de quesos y postres. A tour on a sailing boat The experience is not only limited to the incredible hotel, but also includes getting to know the surroundings, so with Vallarta Adventures, I chose the sailing ride, and would repeat the experience a thousand times more, as the tour goes along the Bay of Banderas: at Los Arcos de Puerto Vallarta, we snorkeled, then we anchored in front of Playa Gemelas to do some paddle boarding, and at all times the staff on board was attentive to what we needed: from mineral water to shrimp and salad, to a cheese bar and desserts. This being said, security is a priority for the success of the tour.

to travel with children or teenagers, the hotel has a Kids Club and a Teens Club, with some fun for them; couples can enjoy more intimacy, as it has an exclusive tower for adults, with its own pool. San Andrés Cohamiata es la capital de los Huicholes; es el pueblo principal de las muchas comunidades wixárika que existen.

Rodeado por la sierra Siempre me ha gustado aventurarme en lugares desconocidos, donde nadie ha estado, así que llegar a San Andrés Cohamiata fue toda una historia, todo un desafío. Es un pueblo que está en la punta norte de Jalisco; desde Guadalajara se hacen de 10 a 12 horas por carretera, fui con mi amigo Juan Pablo Ochoa y primero llegamos a una población que se llama Huejuquilla, para de ahí salir en una camioneta a lo largo de un trayecto de seis horas, hasta San Andrés Cohamiata, en la parte más alta de la sierra.
Surrounded by the mountain I have always liked to venture into unknown places, where no one has been, so getting to San Andrés Cohamiata was quite a story, quite a challenge. It is a town that is in the north tip of Jalisco; from Guadalajara, it takes 10 to 12 hours by road to get there. I went with my friend Juan Pablo Ochoa, and first we arrived to a town called Huejuquilla, and from there we left in a pickup truck for a six-hour-long journey, to San Andrés Cohamiata, in the highest part of the mountain range. Lejos del tiempo
La precepción del tiempo y de los días se rompe porque entras como a un vórtice, donde hay mucho que observar y sentir. Las noches son espectaculares porque el cielo es un lienzo inmenso con millones estrellas. Nos tocó ver luciérnagas, águilas y si te adentras más a la sierra, hay felinos y animales salvajes.
Far away from time The perception of time and days going by is broken, because you enter some kind of vortex, where there is a lot to observe and feel. The nights are spectacular, because the sky is a huge canvas with millions of stars. We got to see fireflies, eagles, and if you go deeper into the mountains, there are felines and wild animals.

DESTINO 2 - San Andrés Cohamiata Destination Nos recibió una familia wixárika -Miguel Carrillo, su esposa Vivián y su hijo José-, no hay hoteles ni restaurantes, sino que ¡sólo se ve la inmensidad! Estuvimos esa noche en San Andrés y al día siguiente nos fuimos a un rancho de descanso que tienen a dos horas de allí. Hicimos el recorrido a pie, un caballo cargó sobre su lomo unas maletas y en la bag pack llevamos casa de campaña, sleeping bag, hamaca, comida y snacks. Por fin llegamos al rancho y pasamos una semana de contacto total con la naturaleza: me levantaba a la hora que el cuerpo decía; generalmente, escuchaba a los pájaros, sentía el calor del sol dentro de la casa de campaña y despertaba. Vivián ya había preparado té de canela o café; también nos hacía frijoles, tortillas recién hechas; todo lo calientan con leña porque no hay gas, ni luz, ni señal del celular, así que comíamos todo fresco y la convivencia con ellos fue muy cercana.
We were welcomed by a Wixárika family -Miguel Carrillo, his wife Vivián and his son José-, there are no hotels or restaurants, but only the immensity to be seen! We stayed that night in San Andrés, and the next day we went to a relief ranch that they have, two hours away. We took the tour on foot, a horse carried some suitcases on his back, and in the bag pack we had a tent, a sleeping bag, a hammock, food and snacks. Finally, we arrived at the ranch, and spent a week in full contact with nature: I would get up at the time my body would say so; generally, I would listen to the birds, feel the heat of the sun inside the tent and wake up. Vivián would already have prepared cinnamon tea or coffee; she would also make us beans and freshly made tortillas; everything is heated with wood because there is no gas, no electricity, no cell phone signal, so we would eat everything fresh, and the cohabitation with them was very close.

San Andrés Cohamiata is the capital of The Huichol; it is the main town of the many Wixárika communities living there.
El agua la tomábamos de un pozo que tienen y hasta les ayudamos a mejorarlo; los paisajes son muy verdes y el clima en el mes de julio por la noche no es tan frío y en el día hace calor. Durante uno de esos días, el hijo de Miguel nos llevó a unas cascadas en una caminata de tres horas. Tomé fotos de la experiencia, porque las vistas son increíbles. During one of those days, Miguel’s son took us to some waterfalls, on a three-hour walk. I took pictures of the experience, because the views are stunning. Some other time, Miguel took us to places deep in the mountains, where it was only us, being a difficult place to get to. The most urbanized part you can find is San Andrés Cohamiata. It was an impressive week, a trip of contemplation!

Arquitectura de metal —
Quien vaya a Orizaba y no entre al Palacio de Hierro, es como si no hubiera ido a la ciudad. Es el único castillo metálico en el mundo y el máximo exponente del Art Nouveau mexicano. Fue diseñado en 1891, con el propósito de representar la riqueza de la ciudad; se requirieron tres viajes para trasladarlo desde Bélgica, durante 97 años funcionó como Palacio Municipal y hoy es ocupado por museos.
Metal architecture — Whoever goes to Orizaba and does not enter the Iron Palace, would be like not having visited the city. It is the only metallic castle in the world and the greatest exponent of Mexican Art Nouveau. It was designed in 1891, with the purpose of representing the richness of the city; it took three trips to move it from Belgium, for 97 years it served as a city hall, and today it is occupied by museums.

Vista desde la altura —
Con 917 metros de largo y 320 de alto, el Teleférico de Orizaba es el tercero más largo de México y el segundo más alto del país. Conecta la Plaza Pichucalco con el Cerro del Borrego, desde donde se ve el esplendor de Orizaba. Abre de lunes a viernes, de 9 am a 5 pm; fines de semana, días festivos y vacaciones se amplía hasta las 7 pm.

View from the heights — With 917 meters long and 320 meters high, the Orizaba Cable Car is the third longest in Mexico and the second highest in the country. It connects Plaza Pichucalco with Cerro del Borrego, from where you can see the splendor of Orizaba. It opens Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm; during weekends, public holidays and vacation periods, the hours are extended until 7 pm.

Se comenta desde hace siglos que el Pambazo está inspirado en la belleza del Citlaltépetl, pues simula la forma del volcán, mientras que la harina representa a la nieve. El pan es abierto por la mitad y lleva frijoles refritos, longaniza y queso, siendo uno de los platillos de más representativos y apreciados de la región.
Traditional bread It has been said for centuries that Pambazo is inspired by the beauty of Citlaltépetl, since it looks like the shape of the volcano, while the flour represents the snow. The bread is opened in half and is filled with refried beans, longaniza (long, spicy pork sausage) and cheese, being one of the most representative and appreciated dishes of the region.

El Poliforum Mier y Pesado es uno de los lugares más atractivos de la ciudad, pues además de su señorial arquitectura, ofrece cinco salones con capacidad para 400 personas, contiene tres museos –es básico visitar el Museo Francisco Gabilondo Soler-, y ocho restaurantes con distintas propuestas culinarias.
A castle with gardens — The Mier y Pesado Poliforum is one of the most attractive places in the city, as in addition to its stately architecture, it offers five meeting rooms with a capacity of 400 people, possesses three museums –it is essential to visit the Francisco Gabilondo Soler Museum-, and eight restaurants with different culinary offerings.

Naturaleza e historia —

Along three kilometers, Paseo del Río combines the colonial aspect of Orizaba with its natural richness. Open every day of the year, it is home to more than 35 animal species and has a reserve that allows the reproduction of species that are in danger of extinction, such as the jaguar.
El Expo Parque de los Dinosaurios es un lugar donde los pequeños aprenden sobre la era jurásica al mismo tiempo que pasan un día muy divertido. El sitio cuenta con chiringuitos –es decir, comedores-, palapa para espectáculos artísticos, espiral de agua y opciones para que los adultos también vivan una original experiencia en familia. 6.- Pasadizos secretos —
El ex convento de San José de Gracia fue ideado por el arquitecto Manuel Tolsá, quien diseñó pasajes secretos: existe un túnel que va hasta la Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, en el Cerro del Borrego; otro que conecta con el centro histórico, y uno más que conduce al este de la ciudad. Los túneles están clausurados, pues dice la leyenda que los gases almacenados dañarían a los habitantes de Orizaba.
6.- Secret passageways — The former convent of San José de Gracia was conceived by the architect Manuel Tolsá, who designed secret passages: there is a tunnel that goes to the Hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, in the Cerro del Borrego; another one connects with the historical center, and one more leads to the east side of the city. The tunnels are closed, as the legend says that the stored gases would harm Orizaba’s inhabitants.

El éxito turístico de Baja California se debe a la creatividad para desarrollar productos basados en sus recursos, como ocurre con la producción de vino, “una actividad agrícola que desde 2003 fue transformada en la Ruta del Vino, y hoy atrae a visitantes que buscan temas culinarios, enológicos y la cerveza”, señala Ives Gabriel Lelevier Ramos, Subsecretario de Turismo del Estado de Baja California. Este trabajo ha sido esencial para que lo mexicanos volteen a ver a Baja California como su destino de viaje, “ya que hace 10 años el 90% del turismo era extranjero y 10% nacional, mientras que hoy el balance es del 58% - 42%, gracias a la conectividad: llegan 20 vuelos diarios desde CDMX, de Guadalajara tenemos ciertos días hasta 14 frecuencias; nos vistan de Sinaloa, Sonora, Baja California Sur, Querétaro, Puebla y Guanajuato”. The tourist success of Baja California is due to the creativity to develop products based on its resources, like with wine production, “an agricultural activity that since 2003 was transformed into the Wine Route, and today attracts visitors looking for culinary, oenological, and beer themes,” says Ives Gabriel Lelevier Ramos, Under Secretary of Tourism of the State of Baja California. This work has been essential for Mexicans to return to see Baja California as their travel destination, “since, 10 years ago, 90% of tourism was foreign and 10% was national, while today the balance is 58%-42%, thanks to the connectivity: 20 daily flights arrive from Mexico City, from Guadalajara there are certain days with up to 14 frequencies; they visit us from Sinaloa, Sonora, Baja California Sur, Queretaro, Puebla and Guanajuato”. El pasado mes de junio fue realizada la inauguración oficial de la planta de BMW Group, en San Luis Potosí, donde se producirá la nueva generación de BMW Serie 3 para exportar a más de 40 países, sin descartar en un futuro la producción de más modelos de la marca. Entonces, podemos celebrar este evento por tres fuertes razones: 1.- Desarrollo humano Se ha invertido en cuatro centros de capacitación técnica para los colaboradores de la marca, beneficiando a la población local. 2.- Desarrollo económico Al realizar una inversión de más de mil millones de dólares y compras a más de 220 proveedores nacionales, se genera un impacto en la economía regional. 3.- Generación de empleo Directamente se emplean a 2,500 personas -locales, regionales e internacionales- en la nueva planta; esto se traduce en cerca de 7mil empleos indirectos, beneficiando a la zona de bajío-occidente.
