Celebration of freedom!
Hidalgo illustrates several periods of Mexican life The State of Hidalgo is a multicolor territory. If we could touch it, we would feel the various textures of an old and deep culture that is profusely wealthy. This entity is practically in the center of Mexico, just 45 minutes from Mexico City, and its cultural heritage illustrates various eras of Mexican life, such as the Toltec Empire, Viceroyalty’s mining heritage and, of course, the independence period. Additionally, in the state of Hidalgo remains a very Mexican flavor of the life style in haciendas, which are representative sites of the region. They are living remnants of the effort of the countryside people of Hidalgo, and nowadays they are places where the patriotic celebrations can be enjoyed at their best because they are unique settings, and several of them offer first class accommodation. Throughout the State of Hidalgo
have existed over 170 magnificent mining and pulque estates, which by their architecture and construction, give the impression of huge fortresses with high walls and large buttresses, such as the great building that houses Hacienda Santa Maria Regla, in the Huasca region. The beautiful state capital, Pachuca, is a hymn to the freedom of Mexico, since precisely on September 15, 1910 was inaugurated the monumental clock that stands on the Independencia Plaza which is an emblem of the city, designed in a classic style and with elegant decoration. In terms of natural wonders, the Basaltic Prisms are worldwide renowned. They are geometric columns that seem to be part of a fantasy, decorating the slopes of the impressive Santa Maria Regla canyon and bathing the rock faces of the four waterfalls that feed San Antonio Regla’s dam.

El Estado de Hidalgo es un territorio multicolor que, si pudiera tocarse, presentaría las diversas texturas de una antigua y profunda cultura que es profusa en riqueza. Dicha entidad está prácticamente en el centro de México, a sólo 45 minutos del Distrito Federal, y su patrimonio cultural ilustra varias épocas de la vida mexicana, como el imperio Tolteca, la herencia minera del virreinato y, por supuesto, el período de independencia. Asimismo, en Hidalgo permanece el sabor del muy mexicano estilo de la vida en las haciendas, que son sitios representativos de la región; son vestigios vivos del esfuerzo de la gente del campo hidalguense y, actualmente, son lugares donde mejor pueden disfrutarse los festejos patrios porque al ser un escenario único y varias de ellas ofrecen servicios de hospedaje de primer nivel. A lo largo del Estado de Hidalgo existieron más de 170 magníficas fincas mineras y pulqueras que, por su arquitectura y construcción, dan la impresión de ser enormes fortalezas con altos muros y grandes contrafuertes, como la estupenda edificación que alberga a la Hacienda Santa María Regla, en la región de Huasca. La bella capital de estado, Pachuca, es un canto a la libertad de México, ya que precisamente el 15 de Septiembre de 1910 fue inaugurado el monumental reloj que se levanta en la Plaza Independencia y es un emblema del lugar, diseñado en formas clásicas y elegante ornamentación. Y, en cuanto a maravillas de la naturaleza, los Prismas Basálticos tienen fama mundial. Son unas columnas geométricas que parecen salidas de una fantasía, decoran las paredes de la impresionante barranca de Santa María Regla y bañan sus muros por cuatro cascadas que alimenta la presa de San Antonio Regla.

orthy heir of a historical lineage in our country, the last name Alemán is certainly a synonym of a successful political-business vein in Mexico, which today lies in the third Miguel Alemán of the dynasty. Miguel Alemán Magnani currently serves as Interjet’s Executive Chairman, a company which “landed” in Mexico in December of 2005 to offer a different alternative and strengthen national aviation industry. With the strong intention to revolutionize the market through a scheme to fly without privileges and at low cost (or rather “high efficiency” as Magnani has listed it himself), Interjet has since the beginning cared for universal access to air transportation, at a time when air travel was simply not an option that most Mexicans could afford. Achieving its primary goal in less than a decade “in the air” was not easy at all. There is however no doubt that it was the temper and innovative spirit of our personality of the month which led this company to have a high altitude take-off. It didn’t only take a millionaire investment requiring him to leave behind another great stage of his life, but also to demonstrate that the decisions made would allow him to receive a proper personality and recognition, besides the greatness of his surnames.

igno heredero de un linaje histórico en nuestro país, el apellido Alemán es sin duda sinónimo de una exitosa vena político-empresarial en México, que hoy en día recae en el tercer Miguel Alemán de la dinastía. Miguel Alemán Magnani se desempeña actualmente como el Presidente Ejecutivo de la Interjet, compañía que en diciembre de 2005 ‘aterrizó’ en territorio mexicano para ofertar una alternativa distinta y fortalecer la industria aeronáutica nacional. Con la férrea intención de revolucionar el mercado a través de un esquema de volar sin privilegios y a bajo costo (o más bien “de alta eficiencia”, como el propio Magnani lo ha catalogado), desde sus inicios Interjet se preocupó por universalizar el acceso a la transportación aérea, en tiempos en los que el viaje en avión sencillamente no era una opción que la mayoría de la sociedad mexicana pudiera costear.
Lograr su objetivo primordial en menos de una década ‘al aire’ no ha sido para nada fácil; sin embargo, no cabe duda que fue el temple y el espíritu innovador de nuestro personaje en cuestión el que llevó a esta compañía a tener un despegue de gran altura, pues para ello no requirió sólo una millonaria inversión que significó dejar atrás otra gran etapa de su vida, sino también demostrar que sus decisiones le permitirían hacerse de una personalidad y reconocimiento propios, por encima de la grandeza de sus apellidos.

¿Qué va a pasar en Las Vegas este fin de semana, que ha despertado tanta expectativa entre el público jalisciense? Nada más y nada menos que la pelea entre Saúl “El Canelo” Álvarez y Floyd Mayweather, que será presenciada por casi 17 mil espectadores en la arena del hotel MGM. El 14 de septiembre ambos peleadores acapararán la atención al disputarse sus rangos deportivos: Mayweather expone el cinturón superwelter de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo, mientras que el tapatío se jugará los cinturones del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo y de la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo superwelter (y, por cierto, el mexicano tiene una trayectoria invicta en 44 combates). Claro, Las Vegas, capital mundial del entretenimiento, es un concurrido parque de atracciones para adultos y por eso tiene el sobrenombre de La Ciudad del Juego, pues posee casinos y juegos de azar para todo tipo de público, que resultan mucho más emocionantes al ir subiendo las apuestas.
Mexico travels to Las Vegas! Shows, shopping, gambling, pleasure and Mexican stars What will happen in Las Vegas this weekend, arousing so much excitement among the public in Jalisco? Nothing more and nothing less than the fight between Saul “El Canelo” Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather, which will be seen by nearly 17 thousand spectators at the MGM arena. On September 14, both boxers will capture the attention by disputing their respective sport’s associations supremacy: Mayweather will be exposing the middleweight belt of the World Boxing Association, while the boxer from Guadalajara will be risking his World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association super welterweight belt (by the way, the Mexican has a 44 fight unbeaten record). Of course, Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, is a popular amusement park for adults and therefore has the nickname of The City of Game, possessing casinos and gambling options for all audiences, which get much
more exciting as the stakes go up. Moreover, its theme hotels (among which Caesars Palace, The Venetian, Luxor, Circus Circus and The Cosmopolitan) go hand in hand with shows that seem to have been created in a parallel world: the circus show Cirque Du Soleil presents permanent versions of Le Rêve and KÀ, the illusionist David Copperfield, the singer Madonna and English music star Elton John, have presentations throughout the year and, of course, Mexican singer Luis Miguel appears frequently in Las Vegas to offer the best of his repertoire. Additionally, the shopping experience is comparable to some options offered by cities like Paris, Dubai or Chicago, as Las Vegas malls are the largest and most comprehensive in the United States, such as the Fashion Show Mall, The Forum Shops or the Grand Canal Shoppes. A city to live an urban adventure in style!
