n the quiet town of Navarre, nestled in Stark County, Ohio, there is a remarkable young woman who has overcome incredible odds, defied expectations, and now inspires everyone she meets. Meet Waleili Gregory, a 17-year-old Navarre native who personifies strength, resilience, and the power of unconditional love.
Baby Jane Doe is Born Defying Challenges
Waleili, affectionately known as “Baby Jane Doe” when she was born in 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Canton, arrived in this world 3 1/2 months prematurely, weighing a mere 1.5 pounds. Twice, she needed to be resuscitated. Her incredible journey began as her parents, Lisa and Denny Gregory, volunteered to be her caregivers, offering her comfort and care, knowing the odds were stacked against her. This decision marked the start of their extraordinary journey. Waleili’s health gradually improved, leading to the Gregorys becoming her foster care providers.

Eventually, adoption was on the horizon, and they eagerly embraced the opportunity to make her a permanent part of their family. In a process filled with challenges, 16 months later, Waleili officially became their daughter. They chose the name “Waleili,” which means “hummingbird” in Cherokee, a fitting name for a small yet determined young lady. The Power of Love and Resilience in This Hummingbird’s Development
