In the first century, the lowest servant would usually wash the guests’ feet before they ate. Jesus knew that He would soon return to His Father in heaven. He wanted to eat the Passover meal with His disciples. They had been His students for three years. During the meal, Jesus taught His disciples an important lesson. What was that lesson?
