In 33 AD, the Jewish people were under Roman rule. When the Jewish leaders became jealous of Jesus’ popularity with the people, they wanted to kill Jesus. The Jewish leaders did not have authority to kill anyone, so they needed permission from the Roman authorities. What did the Roman Governor think about Jesus? What did the Roman Governor decide to do about Jesus?
