Cari lettori,

iamo giunti finalmente nel cuore dell’estate. L’Abruzzo, come sappiamo, è terra senza stagioni, grazie alle sue caratteristiche geografiche ma dove certamente la bella stagione offre migliaia di opportunità di relax, di divertimento oltre che culturali. Abbiamo celebrato nei mesi scorsi il record mondiale di neve, avvenuto sulle nostre montagne in febbraio, evento storico soprattutto per gli sciatori che godono delle nostre meravigliose piste da sci – alcune con vista mare – come direbbe uno dei nostri albergatori, ed oggi invece in riva al mare, a crogiolarci sotto il sole. In questo numero, abbiamo pensato di creare una sorta di monografia dedicata ai nostri Parchi più importanti – i Parchi Nazionali – non potendo citarli tutti in una sola edizione, tra quelli regionali e riserve, perché sono decine. Sappiamo ormai tutti che l’Abruzzo è la Regione più verde d’Europa ed anche la più salvaguardata, con un 30% del territorio soggetto a tutela ambientale e paesaggistica. Un fatto unico in tutto lo scenario del Vecchio Continente. Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e dei Monti della Laga e Parco Nazionale della Majella, tre meraviglie ben distinte ma vicine per storia e tradizioni abruzzesi. C’è anche rivalità – come sappiamo - sulla propria identità distintiva ma dove questo produce miglioramento nei servizi ai turisti ben venga questo stimolo reciproco. Quello che ci auguriamo è che questo patrimonio inestimabile possa essere promosso e sviluppato con una offerta globale, che coinvolga tutte le realtà della Regione anche grazie al nostro Aeroporto di Pescara. A proposito di Pescara, l’annuncio di un grande evento sportivo che, dopo i Giochi del Mediterraneo del 2009, la pone nuovamente all’attenzione del grande sport internazionale. Con un’anteprima di Beach Volley a cavallo del Ferragosto, da fine mese alla prima settimana di settembre avremo i GIOCHI DEL MEDITERRANEO SULLA SPIAGGIA 2015 - PESCARA BEACH GAMES 2015 che si svolgeranno nelle sue acque e sulle sue spiagge con un grande numero di discipline ed atleti da ogni parte del mondo. Ed ovviamente AMA News sarà “Friend Partner”. Infine, una intervista a Costantino D’Orazio, giovane ma già affermato storico dell’arte, che nei suoi libri, in televisione ed in radio racconta mirabilmente i misteri dei personaggi che dopo secoli ancora fanno parlare delle loro opere eterne, iniziando da Caravaggio e Leonardo. EDITORIAL Dear readers, we are finally in the heart of the Summer. Abruzzo, as we know, is a land without seasons, thanks to its geographical and cultural characteristics, but where, of course, the good season offers thousands of opportunity to relax, enjoy yourself as well as to take the chance of different cultural events. During the last months we celebrated the worldwide snow record, reached on our mountains in February, a great event above all for skiers, who can enjoy our beautiful ski slopes – some of them overlooking the sea - and today we are on the beach, basking in the sun – as one of our hotel managers would say. For this issue we have thought to create a sort of monograph dedicated to our most important Parks – the National Parks – since we can’t mention each of them in one edition –there are the regional ones, the Reservations – because they are too many. Everyone knows, by now, that Abruzzo is the greenest region in Europe and also the most protected one, with 30% of its territory that benefits from environmental and landscape protection. A unique event in all the Old Continent scenario. MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO DOC

n vino principesco, destinato alle tavole delle corti più nobili. Già dal nome si evincono le caratteristiche di Aulicus Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC di Codice Citra, la principale realtà vitivinicola in Abruzzo con le sue nove cantine sociali, tutte situate nel comprensorio teatino, e i suoi 3000 soci vignaioli che coltivano 6000 ettari di

vigneti, un terzo dei vigneti abruzzesi. L’Aulicus è un vino importante per struttura, colore e intensità olfattiva. Un Montepulciano d’Abruzzo scelto da Citra per la sua linea “Selezione”, realizzata per il mercato Horeca e destinata quindi ai migliori ristoranti ed enoteche di tutto il mondo, dagli Usa al Canada, dalla Germania al Regno Unito, fino a Giappone e Messico.

La vinificazione dell’Aulicus Montepulciano d’Abruzzo prevede che i grappoli di uva Montepulciano, raccolti a mano, siano vinificati tradizionalmente con una lunga macerazione delle bucce a temperatura controllata. Il vino dopo il travaso a malolattica terminata decanta in serbatoi di acciaio inox. L’affinamento avviene in barrique e il risultato è un vino dal colore rosso intenso con leggeri riflessi scuri di porpora e sfumature violacee. Al naso presenta un bouquet elegante in cui sentori di amarena e frutti di bosco si coniugano a note speziate, di pepe nero, cacao e aromi balsamici. Il gusto pieno e armonico fa spiccare al palato i tannini avvolgenti tipici del Montepulciano, bilanciati da una complessa struttura, polposità e morbidezza. Al retrogusto manifesta nuances di confettura ed una buona persistenza. L’Aulicus Montepulciano d’Abruzzo ha una gradazione alcolica di 13,5 gradi, va servito a una temperatura di 16/18 °C e può essere abbinato a primi piatti importanti a base di funghi, tartufo, sughi succulenti. Ideale

Da provare poi abbinato con il cioccolato fondente per un accostamento che stuzzica piacevolmente e provocatoriamente. Numerosi i riconoscimenti internazionali ottenuti dall’Aulicus Montepulciano d’Abruzzo che è stato premiato nel 2014 con la Gran Menzione al Concorso enologico Internazionale Vinitaly e la Menzione Qualità / Prezzo al concorso Terroir Vino nel 2013. Inoltre l’Aulicus ha ottenuto i Due Bicchieri Neri dalla guida enologica Gambero Rosso 2014 e il punteggio di 86 centesimi sulla guida Luca Maroni 2014.

ello scorso numero di AMA News abbiamo dedicato uno dei primi articoli ad una delle meraviglie del Parco Nazionale d’Abruzzo, l’Orso marsicano, come simbolo vivente della Regione abruzzese. È stata, quindi, una breve introduzione al Parco, alla quale vogliamo dare un seguito in queste righe, poiché rappresenta uno dei simboli, per non dire il simbolo principale, di questa Regione. L’Abruzzo – come pochi sanno – offre la bellezza del 30% del proprio territorio a Parchi e Riserve, esempio unico in Italia e forse in Europa. Certamente l’Abruzzo, riferendoci al Parco omonimo, non ha l’esclusiva del territorio protetto ma essendo i ¾ dei 49.680 ettari del Parco stesso allocati nella provincia de L’Aquila e l’altro quarto diviso tra le province di Frosinone e Isernia, non vi è dubbio a quale Regione si possa attribuire la priori-

Partendo dalla storia, non molti sanno che le prime fondamenta del Parco vengono costituite nel 1921 – primo in Italia – sul modello del Parco Nazionale dello Yellostone, capostipite mondiale della protezione istituzionale delle risorse del territorio, grazie ad Erminio Sipari, primo Presidente dell’Ente Parco. Dopo che nei primi anni del Regno d’Italia, nella seconda metà dell’800, l’Alto Sangro aveva ricevuto protezione da alcuni decreti regi, grazie alla conservazione primordiale dei suoi territori dovuta ad un isolamento pressoché assoluto, all’inizio del ‘900 si creano le condizioni per dare un più profondo senso organizzativo e gestionale all’Ente Parco. Sono trascorsi poco più di 90 anni dalla costituzione e da allora di strada ne è stata fatta, anche con mille vicissitudini e momenti di difficoltà estrema che

oggi, però, possiamo considerare conclusi grazie ad una attenta progettazione e specializzazione per “zone di interesse”. La sede del Parco è situata a Pescasseroli ma le sedi distaccate sono diverse e suddivise per zone. Il parco è raggiungibile dall’alta Marsica (uscita di Pescina dell’A25) e dall’Alto Sangro attraverso la SR 83 Marsicana che lo attraversa da nord a sud-est toccando centri turistici come Pescasseroli, Opi, Villetta Barrea, Civitella Alfedena, Barrea e Alfedena. Accessi secondari provengono da Cocullo (A25) attraverso la SR 476 Sannita, passando per la Valle del Sagittario e Scanno-Passo Godi, e dal territorio laziale attraverso il valico di Forca d’Acero e l’omonima SR 509. In questo percorso ideale, potremmo citare molte località da visitare che comunque potrete scegliere contattando i riferimenti che pubblichiamo in calce a tutti i nostri articoli, ma ne citiamo uno per tutti, come simbolo millenario di questa terra. I sentieri della transumanza. Non luoghi ma percorsi rurali che collegavano l’Abruzzo con la Puglia e che i pastori abruzzesi per secoli hanno percorso da nord a sud e viceversa per avere i pascoli necessari alle greggi, a seconda delle stagioni. In primavera ed estate sui monti abruzzesi e nella stagione fredda nelle piane pugliesi. Centinaia di kilometri percorsi alle intemperie, sui crinali montani e nelle valli, andando da Pescasseroli a Candela, da L’Aquila a Foggia e da Celano a Lucera. Storie di pastorizia, storie di vita, storie di questa terra. Percorsi che oggi è possibile ripetere per rivivere epoche ormai dimenticate, a contatto con una natura incontaminata, e che ancora solo pochi pastori percorrono, seppure parzialmente, oggi come allora. on i nove decimi dei 148.935 ettari del Parco Nazionale del Gran Sasso e dei Monti della Laga nel territorio regionale, questo Parco appare come l’ennesima conferma del primato indiscusso che l’Abruzzo detiene in tema di tutela del Patrimonio naturalistico nazionale e non solo, con un dato che abbiamo più volte ricordato nei nostri racconti: un terzo del territorio abruzzese è protetto e tutelato, unica regione d’Europa a vantare tale primato. Ed in questo numero di AMA News, Vi racconteremo del più grande dei Parchi abruzzesi ed è quello che presenta nel suo territorio un vero gioiello, uno dei simboli dell’Abruzzo: il Gran Sasso d’Italia, la vetta più alta di tutta la catena appenninica con i suoi 2.912 mt del Corno Grande, autentico dominatore dei monti che rappresentano la dorsale che unisce il Nord d’Italia con il Centro ed il Sud del Paese. Ma il Parco, nella sua vastissima estensione, accoglie – a Nord del Gran Sasso - anche i Monti della Laga, posti quasi ad incastro nel grande massiccio.

Un unicum ecologico, però ben differenziato geologicamente, quasi un enigma, vista la contiguità. Diverse le rocce che li compongono - calcaree e carsiche quelle del Gran Sasso e arenaceo-marnose quelle dei Monti della Laga - con ambienti naturali diversi - l’uno roccioso e arido, boscoso e ricco di acque l’altro. Questo determina una incredibile diversità di ambienti, di panorami, di presenze floro-faunistiche ed anche diversi rapporti con la storia e la vita dell’uomo, che nei millenni hanno “sfruttato” questi territori secondo le diverse caratteristiche. Nel precedente numero Vi abbiamo già parlato del Ghiacciaio del Calderone, prezioso residuo di antiche glaciazioni, arroccato sulle pareti a Nord del Gran Sasso. Ma c’è anche un’altra perla di questo massiccio che merita la nostra attenzione: l’Altopiano di Campo Imperatore. Una sterminata landa carsica d’alta quota che si estende per 25 km tra i 1.600 ed i 2.000 mt di quota, definita da molti il Tibet d’Europa e disposta da occidente ad oriente, quasi lungo

tutto il massiccio del Gran Sasso, fin sotto il Monte Camicia, altra vetta oltre i 2.500 mt del Parco. Scenari mozzafiato, ben noti a molti amanti della montagna tra cui spicca il Castello di Rocca Calascio, a cui dedicheremo lo spazio che merita nei prossimi numeri di AMA News. Tornando all’altra metà del Parco, ovvero ai Monti della Laga, meno noti – quasi misteriosi - ma certo non meno belli, la visita del loro territorio si dipana tra boschi, faggete, abeti (compreso il raro abete bianco) a contorno di una miriade di piccoli corsi d’acqua che scorrono tra questi monti, creando spesso cascate come quella della Morricana, autentico gioiello del versante orientale del massiccio. Ma in comune – come dicevamo - i due massicci hanno la presenze dell’uomo che ne traccia oggi un percorso di storia millenario. Sono decine i borghi antichi che da Nord a Sud e da Est ad Ovest, li cingono in una sorta di abbraccio ed in alcuni di essi potrete trovare le strutture del Parco adibite funzionalmente a rac-

I MISTERI DELL’ARTE ABRUZZESE A cura di Andrea Venturini

aro D’Orazio, AMA News è un magazine nato per raccontare le meraviglie abruzzesi, in particolare storia, arte, cultura, natura, personaggi ed enogastronomia. Che ne pensa di questa iniziativa editoriale in un momento in cui i periodici vivono grandi difficoltà? Io credo molto nel potere evocativo della carta, che permette di immergersi nelle notizie e nei racconti con un tempo più lento di qualsiasi schermo. E poi, l’aeroporto è forse uno dei pochissimi luoghi in cui siamo ancora “costretti” a prenderci del tempo, mentre attendiamo le partenze. Senza parlare del tempo che abbiamo in volo. Quindi, una rivista è un ottimo strumento per arricchire questi momenti, che sono soltanto per noi... Entrando nel tema “Abruzzo”, qual’è la sua visione del Patrimonio culturale abruzzese? Ho origini abruzzesi da parte di entrambi i miei genitori e ho vissuto gran parte delle mie vacanze da piccolo nella vostra splendida regione. In Abruzzo mi sento a casa, ha l’odore della famiglia! Abbiamo tracce della presenza umana di circa 7.000 anni fa. Siti archeologici, chiese, monumenti, reperti di ogni genere. Ce ne è qualcuno che ama in modo particolare? Ai primi posti della mia lista, che sarebbe troppo lungo elencare, metto senza dub-

bio Santa Maria in Valle Porclaneta, seguita dal Giudizio Universale di Loreto Aprutino e dal Duomo di Teramo, ma è niente rispetto allo straordinario patrimonio artistico del territorio. Pensi che io ho un debole anche per la fontana realizzata dall’artista contemporaneo Ettore Spalletti per il Tribunale di Pescara, un vero gioiello! Lei è l’uomo dei Misteri. Caravaggio, Leonardo, la Roma de “La Grande Bellezza”, solo come esempi tra i suoi libri. Ci racconti brevemente almeno uno dei grandi misteri d’Abruzzo. Mi ha sempre affascinato l’Oratorio di San Pellegrino a Bominaco, un luogo che dovrebbe essere segnalato su tutte le guide d’Europa come un capolavoro da non perdere. Una piccola chiesa completamente affrescata da almeno tre artisti diversi. Colti, raffinati, capaci di imitare i grandi artisti francesi del duecento così come Giotto. Purtroppo non conosciamo i loro nomi, ma soltanto il loro incredibile talento. Qualcuno sostiene che fossero abruzzesi, un vero mistero. Uno storico dell’arte come vive il connubio tra arte e natura, tra arte e territorio, inteso come economia e turismo? Questa estate il binomio arte-turismo è diventato anche un po’ la mia ossessione, da quando conduco assieme al giornalista Emilio Casalini il programma “Bella dav-

vero” su Radio2 ogni Sabato e Domenica alle 11.30. Io racconto i segreti dell’arte e lui illustra dati, denuncia scandali, ma soprattutto sottolinea continuamente come l’Italia dovrebbe concentrare i propri sforzi soprattutto sulla valorizzazione dei beni culturali, una risorsa straordinaria per l’economia. Io sono assolutamente d’accordo. Un pensiero per l’Aquila. Indignazione. Questo provo quando mi capita di tornarci. E sconcerto. Davvero non capisco come sia possibile rinunciare a tanta bellezza, senza che nessuno ne

Per concludere, un itinerario abruzzese che attraversi tutta la Regione avendo a disposizione 4 località da suggerire ai nostri lettori. Partirei dalla spiritualità ancora autentica che si respira nell’Abbazia di Santa Maria del Colle a Pescocostanzo, per passare poi ad esplorare i tesori conservati nei musei di Palazzo d’Avalos a Vasto, mi esalterei poi scoprendo i segreti della giovinezza di D’Annunzio nella sua Casa Natale a Pescara, per poi terminare con una passeggiata ristoratrice ai Prati di Tivo. And besides, the airport is maybe the only place, among other few, where we are still “forced” to take our time, while we are waiting to depart. Needless to mention all the time we have during the flight. So, reading a magazine is a great way to enrich these moments, which are only for us… Speaking about Abruzzo, what do you thing about the cultural heritage of our region? I have got Abruzzo origins from both my parents and I have lived most of my holidays in your beautiful region when I was a kid. In Abruzzo I feel like home, It smells like family! We have got evidences of human presence dating back to about 7.000 years ago. Archeological sites, churches, monuments, finds of any kind. Is there one, among them, that you prefer? My list would be too long, but in the top ten I have undoubtedly Santa Maria in Valle Porclaneta, followed by Giudizio Universale in Loreto Aprutino and by the Abbey in Teramo, but this is nothing compared to the extraordinary artistic heritage of the region. Just think that I have a weakness for the fountain realized by the contemporary artist Ettore Spalletti for Pescara Court, a real jewel! You are known as the man of Mysteries. I can’t really understand how it is possible to give up such a great beauty, without no one speaking of it anymore. Finally, a path through Abruzzo that goes across the all Region, having 4 locations to recommend our readers. I would start from the still genuine spirituality that you can fell in Santa Maria del Colle Abbey in Pescocostanzo, to go and explore the treasures kept in Palazzo d’Avalos museums in Vasto, then I would enjoy myself discovering the secrets of d’Annunzio’s youth in his native house in Pescara, to end with a refreshing stroll in Prati di Tivo. Since Abruzzo is not only art, but also nature. What are your next editorial plans? In October my new book will be launched by Sperling &Kupfer. isitare i paesaggi dannunziani in Abruzzo diventa un viaggio interessante tra arte, natura e letteratura che ci riporta indietro nel tempo, in un mondo antico e selvaggio ricco di suggestioni e di emozioni. Questo itinerario parla non soltanto dei luoghi, ma anche di quelle presenze artistiche abruzzesi che, con la loro genialità, hanno contribuito a rendere la figura del Vate così fascinosa. Francesco Paolo Michetti, Costantino Barbella, Francesco Paolo Tosti e Basilio Cascella sono i maggiori frequentatori del “cenacolo intellettuale” che, a fine ‘800, dominava il mondo della cultura abruzzese. Partiamo da Pescara, città che diede i natali al poeta, dove ha sede la casa natale di Gabriele D’Annunzio, oggi adibita a Museo, collocato al centro della vecchia Pescara in Corso Manthonè. All’interno della casa sono conservati alcuni cimeli appartenuti al Vate ed alla sua famiglia. Poco vicino la casamuseo, all’interno del Palazzo della Provincia, possiamo ammirare la grande tela raffigurante “La figlia di Jorio” eseguita nel 1894 dal maestro e fraterno amico Francesco Paolo Michetti, che ispirò l’omonima opera teatrale di D’Annunzio. Dirigendoci verso Francavilla al Mare, in provincia di Chieti, ci fermiamo ad ammirare il Convento Michetti: un convento risalente al XV secolo, acquistato nel 1873 e trasformato in un punto di riferimento culturale. Qui strinsero grandi amicizie, sul finire dell’800, personalità di rilievo e di prestigio del mondo culturale divenendo sede di quel cenacolo intellettuale che produsse molte opere, tra le quali “Il Piacere” dannunziano. Nel centro storico di Francavilla, in una splendida posizione che si affaccia sul mare, si erge l’antico Convento dei Domenicani, oggi sede del Museo Michetti (MuMi). Qui si possono ammirare, quale nucleo della collezione permanente michettiana, due grandi tele “Le serpi” e “Gli storpi”, volte a rappresentare l’animo della sua terra e a donare una dignità artistica a quei riti religiosi caratteristici dell’Abruzzo.

Il Comitato organizzatore – composto dai rappresentanti del Comitato olimpico nazionale italiano (CONI), del Comune di Pescara, della Regione Abruzzo, sotto l’egida del Comitato internazionale dei Giochi del Mediterraneo (CIJM) – ha previsto una serie di tappe di avvicinamento all’evento con numerosi test events (tornei ed esibizioni) che si svolgeranno durante tutta l’estate sulle spiagge della città. “Non poteva esserci un luogo migliore per organizzare la prima edizione dei Beach Games, considerato che Pescara vive con la spiaggia e con il mare un rapporto simbiotico e viscerale, dal mattino a notte inoltrata – spiega Marco Alessandrini, sindaco e presidente del Comitato organizzatore dei Giochi. Lungo i 9 km del nostro litorale si prende il sole, si

passeggia, si mangia, si balla e, soprattutto, si fa sport nei tanti spazi attrezzati che coinvolgono migliaia di persone in estate come in inverno”. Il felice rapporto tra Pescara e lo sport ha avuto uno dei suoi momenti più alti in occasione del XVI Giochi del Mediterraneo del 2009, la manifestazione internazionale dedicata agli sport “classici” che ha visto esaltati sia gli aspetti organizzativi sia i risultati sportivi, con una straordinaria cornice di pubblico composto migliaia di accompagnatori e turisti provenienti da tutto il mondo. Un successo che ora Pescara e l’Abruzzo vogliono replicare. “Le discipline sportive praticate in mare e sulla spiaggia rappresentano, come ha detto il presidente del Coni Giovanni Malagò, la nuova frontiera dello sport – aggiunge Guglielmo Petrosino, direttore generale del Comitato organizzatore Pescara 2015 – nei confronti delle quali c’e grande interesse sia da parte dei Comitati olimpici e delle Federazioni internazionali anche in vista dei World Beach Games previsti nel 2017, sia da parte di numerose imprese che hanno voluto essere sponsor e partner dell’evento”. A STEFANO ODOARDI LA SECONDA EDIZIONE DEL PREMIO CODICE CITRA “VINI, VOLTI, VALORI” Il riconoscimento speciale, assegnato in collaborazione con il Flaiano Film Festival al regista abruzzese che ha raccontato il dramma del terremoto dell’Aquila, è stato consegnato ieri a Spoltore Ortona, 3 luglio 2015 – Va al regista Stefano Odoardi il premio “Vini, Volti, Valori”, assegnato da Codice Citra e dal Flaiano Film Festival a un personaggio abruzzese che si è particolarmente distinto nel mondo del cinema. La cerimonia di premiazione si è svolta giovedì 2 luglio presso il Multiplex Arca di Spoltore prima della proiezione del film Mancanza – Inferno, realizzato dallo stesso Odoardi. A consegnare il riconoscimento è stato Lorenzo Mancinelli, Vicepresidente del Gruppo Citra. Stefano Odoardi, nato a Pescara, vive tra l’Olanda e l’Italia. Ha realizzato diversi lungometraggi e cortometraggi che sono stati selezionati e premiati in diversi festival internazionali. Nel 2014 ha presentato la pellicola Mancanza – Inferno. Girato a L'Aquila, nella città distrutta dal terremoto del 2009, il film racconta, con un approccio visionario, un inferno contemporaneo dove venti dannati, attori aquilani non professionisti, sono imprigionati mentre una presenza si aggira per la città silenziosa e ormai abbandonata a se stessa. “Siamo onorati di poter consegnare il nostro premio a un regista abruzzese di grande talento come Stefano Odoardi, la cui storia è simile a quella di tanti ragazzi che oggi vanno via dall’Italia per affermarsi ma che, comunque, restano legati al proprio territorio” ha dichiarato Lorenzo Mancinelli. “Con il suo film, Stefano ha saputo raccontare il dramma del terremoto aquilano in maniera incisiva e struggente e ci aiuta a riflettere su un trauma difficile da dimenticare, al quale la popolazione abruzzese ha però saputo reagire con orgoglio e tenacia”. Il film Mancanza – Inferno è stato proiettato al termine della premiazione per il secondo appuntamento della rassegna cinematografica “Vini, Volti, Valori”, per la serata legata al tema dei “Volti”. La terza e ultima tappa è in programma lunedì 6 luglio, quando la rassegna si concluderà con la proiezione di Mia Madre (regia di Nanni Moretti). IL MUSEO ARCHEOLOGICO NAZIONALE DI CAMPLI

ell’ex complesso conventuale adiacente la chiesa di San Francesco, chiesa in stile romanico appartenente al XIII secolo, ha sede il Museo Archeologico di Campli, paese della provincia di Teramo ricco di storia e

cultura. Il museo presenta una straordinaria esposizione dei reperti provenienti dalla necropoli di Campovalano, piccola frazione del paese di Campli, nella quale troviamo questo sito archeologico fatto risalire addirittura all’età del bronzo (XV-XIII se. a.C.). Le testimonianze archeologiche di questo insediamento, scavate nel 1971, sono state esposte nelle sale del museo: tra i numerosi reperti troviamo soprattutto ornamenti funerari e, d’altra parte, non poteva essere altrimenti trattandosi di una necropoli, la “città dei morti”. L’organizzazione del museo non lascia nulla all’immaginazione, il visitatore è seguito da ricostruzioni figurative e video in cui viene spiegato l’utilizzo degli utensili per i riti funerari. Non mancano testimonianze della vita quotidiana delle Genti di Campovalano: strumenti in bronzo, vasi particolari chiamati bollitoi e colini per la lavorazione del latte da cui traevano ricotta e formaggi, che dovevano essere i principali alimenti e mezzi di scambio. A partire dal X sec. a. C. nella pianura di Campovalano non vi sono più tracce di abitazioni ma solo seppellimenti. Le prime sepolture presentano dei corredi funerari assai ridotti: erano oggetti in bronzo posti sul torace dell’inumato. Con il XIII sec., e cioè con l’arrivo dei Greci, popolazione raffinata, in Italia, inizia la differenziazione sociale e, di conseguenza, la varietà

Con la fine della storia millenaria di Campovalano non ha fine però il museo di Campli: il percorso continua grazie a contributi dall’antropologia, geologia e biologia e soprattutto con i magazzini archeologici in cui sono conservate tutte le sepolture finora scavate.
