Concept & Aesthetic Choices Concept

To produce a set of 'guidebooks' giving information on types of printing process that are available for different Key Stages of school.

The books have been designed for teachers to refer to for their lessons, rather than for the students to read from.

Each book contains simple instructions for the teachers to read from in order to understand each printing process. They also contain several tips for the lessons, glossaries and tasks that they could set for the students.

There are 3 books - one for Key Stage 1, one for Key Stage 2, and another for Key Stage 3. Each book contains different printing processes that are relevant to each Key Stage and their artistic needs.

Key Stage 1

The book produced for Key Stage 1 is probably the most complex.

At the back of the book there are 5 different tasks that have been created for the 5 different printing processes mentioned inside the publication.

These tasks have been illustrated, rather than given in the instructions sections, as Key Stage 1 children tend to work better from visual interaction, rather than listening to the teacher.

The tasks can be photocopied from the book so that each student has a task to work from.

Key Stage 2

The books produced for Key Stage 2 and 3 are very similar, and a lot more simple than the Key Stage 1 publication.

Each of these books also contains a glossary, which children, or teachers, could refer to if they were interested in learning more about each process.

These two publications are less illustrated, as I felt as though this wasn't actually needed.

Even though this makes the publications less exciting to look at, it allowed more space for instructions, as the printing processes for Key Stage 2 and 3 are more complex!

Key Stage 3

The books produced for Key Stage 2 and 3 are very similar, and a lot more simple than the Key Stage 1 publication.

Each of these books also contains a glossary, which children, or teachers, could refer to if they were interested in learning more about each process.

These two publications are less illustrated, as I felt as though this wasn't actually needed.

Even though this makes the publications less exciting to look at, it allowed more space for instructions, as the printing processes for Key Stage 2 and 3 are more complex!

Method of Distribution If the books were mass produced, they would be sold in well respected book shops, such as Waterstone's or Border's.

They could also be sold on Amazon at cheaper prices, as a lot of teachers probably won't have the time to go out to book stores and look for books for their lessons.

Because the books have been printed similarly to a magazine, they could even be sold alongside magazines in places like WHSmith.
