TIPS FOR MORE SUCCESSFUL VIDEO MEETINGS —SO EVERYONE FEELS HEARD
Video meetings can exacerbate the inequalities that exist in physical workplaces and even introduce new challenges. For example, you can’t read body language or facial expressions as easily, so it’s more difficult to tell if someone is uncomfortable or disagrees with you, or in large video meetings, it can be extra hard to signal that you have something to say without interrupting someone.
Here, experts share simple tips you can use to make your video meetings more inclusive and

“Parenting is a great experience, but scary at times. “Our bundle of joy is now seven weeks old, and each day I am learning more.”, said Garth the new parent. “Parenting is a great experience, but scary at times. The baby is so delicate and small I have to get used to holding him properly, bathing him, feeding and burping him as well.” he added proudly.
to attend to Gawayne’s needs, whether it be to change or feed him with his bottle and put him back to bed. “We share the responsibilities and I don’t want to be left out.” He vividly remembers when Al-Shana told him she was pregnant. He thought she was pulling a stunt on him until she showed him the pregnancy test result. “I was surprised and totally excited to be a biological dad. Now, I have more responsibilities, my 5 year old princess Jhadae and now prince Gawayne. A healthy and happy family with God in the mist is all I want, no need to worry about anything else”. Garth confesses he often goes on YouTube to learn more about parenting but has discovered everyone has different ways to handle things. “I think the best book on parenting is from within, one’s love, passion and guidance from our Heavenly Father,” he concluded. Garth explained that being a dad is not an overnight experience, but a daily experience, as each day opens new opportunities to learn and discover more or different ways to be better than yesterday.

GM SPOTLIGHT
CARL BEVIERE GENERAL MANAGER , SANDALS MONTEGO BAY.
February 2021
He is beloved by his team members and guests alike as leader of The Flagship property Sandals Montego Bay.
16
Cool, affable and a great motivator are some of the attributes used to describe General Manager Carl Beviere. No more has the quality of his leadership been brought to the fore than during the Covid-19 pandemic, being at the helm of one of the first hotels opened in the country. But who is the man behind the smile and cool disposition?
GM SPOTLIGHT •
He was born to a close-knit family in St. Lucia, but he was raised in England which he credits for broadening his horizons and giving him the opportunity to travel. Mr. Beviere was born with a deep rooted appreciation for the Caribbean and always knew he would return.
•
He developed strong work ethics early in life with his first job as a weekend dishwasher while in high school. At the end of high school, he was guided into banking by his family who were already in that field and doing well. He became an investment banker with J.P Morgan but knew before long, that this was not his true calling as he had developed a deep passion for all things culinary and wished to pursue this dream.
•
Mr. Beviere had a deep passion for all things culinary and after he left J.P Morgan Investment Bank went to work at a restaurant. He soon enrolled in South East London Technical College where he pursued Hospitality & Catering for two years and graduated with honours. He worked as a Chef for the Rio Tinto Mining company where he was promoted to Sous Chef in a short amount of time
•
He did culinary work for the world famous Chelsea Football Club for five seasons and became personally responsible for the Chairman on match days. This was quite an accomplishment for young Carl whom to this day, remains an avid Chelsea football fan.

GM SPOTLIGHT
February 2021
“There is a real sense of being valued and appreciated in the company and the opportunities that they provide are unparalleled to any other organization I’ve had the pleasure of working with.”
18
Beviere expresses with a bright smile. He pulls for reference a personal experience when he was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2010, the kindness, concern and support extended by the Stewarts was something he would never be able to forget and forever appreciate. The care extended was genuine and created a bond of unbreakable loyalty for Carl.

SANDALS HALCYON BEACH CELEBRATES REOPENING Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort reopened on the 3rd of February, much to the delight of team members, many of whom had not been to the resort except for training or as part of the regular maintenance group that had kept the surroundings alive since the unprecedented closure in March of 2020.
Sandals Halcyon’s team members await their first guests after months of an unprecedented closure. Alisha Wells, a playmaker at Sandals Grande St Lucian Spa & Beach Resort, was more than pleased when she was asked to lend her expertise to the reopening act at our sister Resort, Sandals Halcyon Beach Resort.
