Train the Trainer

10

The “Train the Trainer” initiative focuses on resort managers and supervisors who continuously shape the future of the hotel industry. In addition to enhancing excellent training techniques, it aims to improve emotional intelligence, communication, and teaching abilities. The Learning and Development Department led the accelerated learning course, which was condensed into four days but had a significant impact. At the start of the programme, team members participated in classes, and at the conclusion, each person was assigned the responsibility of creating and carrying out a lesson plan that outlined the fundamental duties of their department and involved giving real-time lessons to candidates for the Hospitality Training Programme. Today, team members are better qualified to onboard new employees, and it is expected that assimilation will go more smoothly.

New Parent

Sandals South Coast

Trician Bowes’ Wonderful Surprise Bundle They say nothing ever truly prepares you for parenthood and for many mothers – whether first-timers or those who have experienced this journey before – the news may come as a shocker. For Culinary Desk Agent at Sandals South Coast Trician Bowes, the news of her pregnancy took quite some time to believe even while preparing to embark on this beautiful journey. Now the mother of a bouncing baby boy, Kaiden Harriott, she shares that this past year has moulded her in ways she could have never imagined. From learning to adjust her routines to facilitate a child, to moving into a new role in her department on resort, she noted that patience and discipline has been the biggest lessons taught by parenthood, so far. When asked how work has influenced her journey as a parent, she gleefully shared her gratitude to the Godmother of her son, past colleague and fellow ‘boy mom’, Chevelle Dockery-Vanhoren – who now works at Sandals Dunn’s River – for

New Parent moments, the biggest ticket for her is the memory of baby Kaiden taking his first steps. Overjoyed with tears in the moment, she jokingly conveyed that she cried even more at the fact that she was unable to capture this once-in-alifetime encounter. However, thanks to his dad who came up with a game-plan to capture him on video, she is now able to relive this moment time and time again. Trician is confident that her “watermelon”, as she affectionately calls him, will grow to be a loving individual with a strong personality, given that he is already very self-reliant and brave. It is also her desire to give him space so he can grow into whoever he wishes to become. “I don’t want to influence his career and other personal life choices, but to be a role model who he can mirror when it comes to morals and values. As a child, I often felt the need to aspire to pursue the careers of those around me. I want him to chase his dreams,” Trician expressed.
