RELAXATION AND CULINARY DELIGHTS On a nice summer’s day, hotel guests can enjoy the view over the mountains and the castle’s historic atmosphere already during an early morning swim in the heated outdoor pool. Next to the panorama pool, the spa features a summer garden, a sauna area and panorama relaxation rooms with views over the slopes – green and colourful in summer, snow-covered in winter. “The whole area is so beautiful that one actually doesn’t want to leave,” says Stephan Kohnke. Guests can spend the day on a pool lounger before having dinner overlooking the mountains and a digestif under the stars.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DESTINATIONS ON YOUR DOORSTEP The region has something to offer for adventurers, culture enthusiasts and sport fans alike. In summer, guests can explore the Tauern Cycle Path with an e-bike that they can rent at the hotel, they can hike to the Krimmer waterfalls, or explore the Sulzbach Valleys that belong to the most beautiful places in Austria. Directly above the castle lies an upland moor. In winter, the region is of course ideal for skiing – in the Kitzbühel area and in six more top ski areas in the immediate area. Romantic sledge rides and winter hikes are also possible straight from the hotel. The castle itself hosts concerts and reading, so that Schlosshotel Mittersill has something to offer for every taste. www.schloss-mittersill.com

Schloss Mittersill is a true insider tip for Alp enthusiasts who, after a trip into the mountains, might want to relax in an extra-special environment. “The castle has ten individually decorated suites, whose name patron is a former hotel guest,” says hotel director Stephan Kohnke. The Coco Chanel suite, for example, has a private outdoor sauna in the old castle tower, as well as a freestanding bathtub with a view. The traditional hunting room, on the other hand, is furnished with pieces from the 19th century and original wooden floors and wall panels, inviting guests for a journey into the past. “In the whole house we put great emphasis on small details,” says Kohnke about the 54 rooms and suites.
The castle restaurant serves culinary delights made mainly from seasonal produce.
