Long Range Planning Chair Sharon Kennedy kennesk@comcast.net Second and Fourth Wed., 10 AM, on Zoom

The purpose of our committee is to develop and recommend to the Board a rolling 5 to 10 year plan to maintain and further enhance the quality of life for current residents, while ensuring SCOV remains competitive in attracting additional active, involved people to our community. Committee documents, past agendas, minutes and our Request Project Consideration form are available on the SCOV website. Our meetings are open to all residents.

Neighborhood Pride Co-chairs Anita Nisonger and Janette Simister Questions, 520-917-8079 scoroval@ciramail.com Third Tue., 2 PM, WC3 Before We Know It Before we know it, summer will be here, and we bid farewell to those who leave our community for the hot months ahead. Remember to have someone look after your home and yard while you are away, even if you are only gone for part of the time. A messy yard is an indication that you are gone, and it puts your home and belongings in what could be an unsafe situation. During our monsoon season, weeds grow in abundance and need to be removed as quickly as possible. With possible storms, there are times when it’s necessary to reach homeowners due to roof tile damage and/or downed trees. Don’t forget to leave your summer address and phone number with Administration in the event they need to reach you. Have a great summer knowing that your community and home here will look just as nice when you return as when you left.

Posse Chair Linda Simōn 520-789-7169 posse@5LP.com First Tue., 3 PM, Desert Oasis www.scovaz.com/members/committees/posse

The Posse needs you. Welcome to the new Posse members. We’re delighted to have you. We continue to need volunteers to go on posse patrols, six hours a year (two 3-hour shifts). We also are looking for two new board members. Two current board members have served 10 and 18 years each and are ready to move on to other endeavors. This is an opportunity for you to help the Posse and serve your community. Call Linda Simōn 520-789-7169 for information.

Properties Chair Rich Oaks richoaks114@gmail.com Third Thu., 9 AM, WC1 and via Zoom

The Properties Committee conducts a number of facility and Chalk Creek Wash inspections throughout the year. During the inspections, participants make notes and take photos of their observations relating to safety, functional or appearance issues. Those notes and photos are assimilated into a draft report that is reviewed and edited by all committee members. The final report is then forwarded to Association management for resolution by staff. The committee is pleased to report that most recent observations have been appearance issues. The number of safety and functional issues have decreased during the past several years. Our recent meetings have been in person and via Zoom. Please see the calendar on the SCOV website for scheduled meeting dates, times and meeting format.

Why is my photo so small? If the photo you submitted for the Tipster looks like a postage stamp, you probably selected “small” when you sent the photo from your phone to your email. Be sure to select “large” or “actual size” for cell phone photos so that you won’t need a magnifying glass to view them in the Tipster. If you are a new submitter for your committee or club, download the “Guide to Submitting Tipster Articles” from the Tipster page of the SCOV website www.suncityorovalley. com/news-info/the-tipster/.

Golfing experience that provides professional and friendly service, mountain views and excellent conditions.

Director of Golf - Rick Price rprice@theviewsgolfclub.com 520-917-8086

We had another busy and successful season this year. Our new rates and membership information for the 2022-2023 season will be available on the website the first week of May, www. theviewsgolfclub.com. Please be aware of some important dates coming up regarding the maintenance of the golf course. At the end of April, we aerated tees and will be continuing throughout the summer, as needed. A pre-emergent herbicide was applied to tees, fairways and roughs to prevent the goosegrass from growing during summer and fall. During the first week of May, aeration of the roughs continues with no closure necessary. On May 12, the practice green will be aerated starting at 9 AM and will be closed until the project is complete. The greens aeration begins May 16 with the back nine being closed for the day, but allowing play on the front nine. On the following day, May 17, the front nine will be aerated and the back nine will be open. Please indicate when booking starting times, whether you will play nine holes only, or play the same nine twice. Starting on May 31, the fairways will be top-dressed and solid-tine aeration begins on the back nine, which will be closed through June 2. The following week, June 6-8, the front nine will be closed for aeration. Thank you for a great season, and we look forward to continuing to serve you in the months and years ahead.

Superintendent - Michael Kropf scvgolf@suncityorovalley.com 520-917-8063

This May will be both the same and different than previous years in regard to golf course maintenance. This year is different without the process of transitioning winter ryegrass out of the Bermuda grass since we didn’t overseed. This was one of the big reasons the fairways weren’t overseeded, because it will allow the Bermuda grass a full growing season to establish a better root system without the competition from another grass growing on top of it. However, the maintenance of the fairways, tees and greens
