Tips for Desert Living
by Ronna Heinig
The Sonoran Desert is certainly beautiful and green. Not Michigan green, but certainly not the dusty brown of Las Vegas, and it comes with a variety of unique critters.
First and foremost, if you own a kitty that was an outdoor cat, it is now an indoor cat. We have a prevalence of kitty and doggie predators. Bobcats and coyotes roam noncha lantly throughout our backyards. Fido’s Friends have a nice secure dog park for our canine family members, and the club provides snake aversion training as well.
Which brings me to snake season. Who would have guessed? Spring is when the rattlesnakes emerge from their dens and are particularly active. The black and white striped king snakes are my best friends. They eat rattlesnakes, and are constrictors, so no venom, just don’t pick them up.
Next we have javelinas that travel in large groups called squadrons. They are reminiscent of a pig but are not. The babies are adorable. They love the acorns that fall from oak trees, and they seem to have put my house on their preferred dining list.
Pack rats can be a problem. I’m not talking mice here. These guys can chew through the wiring in your car or RV causing mega dollars worth of damage. A little strobe light that can be purchased at the local hardware store and placed in your engine compartment will discourage these pests.
Mosquitoes and such aren’t much of a worry, but I would stay away from bees; you could get some pretty nasty stings. Tiny lizards are just plain cute, but difficult to catch if they sneak into your house when you open the door, so be on the lookout.
The termites here are ground termites, not flying ones. They build “straws” from your ceiling or create a dirt-like trail along a wall. A good exterminator solves this problem, and it doesn’t involve tenting your entire home.
You will want to keep your garage door closed to discour age critter visitors. Keep the fire department number handy, as they will relocate any rattlesnakes for you.
The critters of our beautiful Sonoran desert are unique, but
please remember that they are wild animals and we should not feed or disturb them. We should respect their space and learn to live in harmony with them.

Still Experiencing Some Disruptions
Perhaps you can remember pre-Covid when you could obtain parts just by going to the store. Everything was always in stock. If you wanted a part that was not a part of normal inventory, the store could order it for you and it would be at the store in less than a week. Even sooner if you put a rush on it and were willing to pay the expedited shipping. The provider of services always had plenty of labor available to provide for your needs, and wait times were usually within a few days to a few weeks.
My, how things have changed. Store shelves often are not full. We’ve learned once again how to make do with something other than what we went to the store to purchase. If we are required to order a part, odds are pretty good that we will have to wait quite a while for it, and once it comes in, we may still have to wait for workers to be available to install it.
Here at SCOV, we are very fortunate that we don’t have to wait very often for many of the services we need. There are, however, some services that we contract for that take longer than we would expect or longer than promised. I apologize for that. Our staff does its best to get vendors that provide goods and services as best they can, but sometimes they have difficulties with labor availability or supply chain, and are powerless to do anything about it. When this happens, we so appreciate your patience. You can be confident that our team members are doing the best they can to provide the products and services that you’ve come to expect.

Flip Flops – Official Footwear SCOV’s Fun Brand Campaign
by Marsha Dean
Thissummer we began rolling out a few elements of a new fun brand campaign for SCOV. Our goal has been to add ele ments of fun and whimsy around the com munity and to our commu nication and marketing ma terials. The process started with the commissioning of a watercolor “map” of SCOV (reproduced on this Tipster cover) by local art ist, Susan Libby. The paint ing shows some of Sun City Oro Valley’s activities along with elements from our surroundings such as the Catalina Mountains and familiar wildlife. The origi nal painting will hang in the renovated Activity Center for all to enjoy. We’ve en joyed using elements from the painting and compan ion graphic icons also illus trated by Susan Libby.
The budget brochure in your annual dues mailing featured some of the new graph ics, and the golf rates brochure features the golfer from the painting. If you’ve been to the lounge in The Views Restaurant, you may have noticed that the formerly blank wall across from the bar has several new prints with wildlife and a pair of flip flops that we’re referring to as SCOV official footwear.
Seattle as the only city on the mile post. Turns out, that’s the most common hometown for SCOV residents. Who knew?
We want everyone to join in the fun. We’ll have a launch party for the brand campaign on Tues day, October 18, at Catalina Vista with dance music by our resident band, Total Recall. Come and cel ebrate the SCOV lifestyle with music, dancing and prizes. Attendees will receive a mini print of the SCOV map. To help everyone get ready, we have set up six selfie spots around the community. Look for the flip flops to show you where to stand, then take your picture. All the spots showcase views that reflect the beautiful setting where SCOV is located. The first ten people to find all six spots and submit their photos will receive a prize at the launch party. Details will be in “This Week in SCOV.”
We hope you enjoy this fun brand campaign. The timing is perfect as the renovated Ac tivity Center will open soon and residents will be able to resume activities and entertainment in the beautiful spaces.
Official Footwear
If you have recently wan dered past The Views Restaurant terrace, you may have no ticed the mile post that’s been erected near the grassy knoll. We hope you’ll stop and take a selfie at the post. The mountain backdrop is breathtaking, and we think it will be a good place to bring your visitors. We liked the post so much, we decided to have one painted inside the Welcome Center lobby. When you come by, check it out along with new SCOV merchandise such as tie dye t-shirts, hats, drinkware, note cards and stickers. We chose

New Sports Reservation System
We are excited to announce a new sports reservation system available on our website. This will let residents reserve times for bocce, tennis, pickleball, Desert Oasis courts and AFC lap lanes. It will also let you know when the club is playing. This system can be found on multiple pages on the website including www.suncityorovalley.com > fitness and club pages where reservations are available. You can create an account in the new system now. On Sunday, October 9, you may begin making reservations for Sunday, October 16.
SignupGenius was a quick fix for our Covid needs, but it has many limitations behind the scenes. The end of life for SignupGenius for sports reservations in SCOV will be Satur day, October 15 (many clubs will continue to use it). So, create your new account today and get prepared to start making reservations. We hope this new feature will provide you more information about the amenities and their availability in the community. It might even inspire you to try out a new sport.
Lifestyle Coordinator - Brenda Puzzele-Stoltz bpuzzele-stoltz@suncityorovalley.com 520-917-8077
I want to take a moment to introduce myself; I am the new Lifestyle Coordinator.
My name is Brenda, and I have been married for the past 14 years to a wonderful man named Steve, who served in the Navy for eight years. I have enjoyed working with se niors and veterans for the past 25 years and look forward to getting to know the residents of SCOV. After receiving my B.A. from Thomas Edison State College, I was accepted to the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York City. I re ceived an Art Therapy certificate and completed my intern ship in the Founding Hospital in SoHo New York. In realizing seniors need a better quality of life, I went back to school. For the next two years, I studied to be a Nationally Certified Activities Director through Alternative Solutions. It has been my privilege to design and implement structured activities to enhance the lives of active adults. I look forward to spending time with you and hearing all the things that make you smile. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.
of samples and brochures about materials and colors. If your project involves walls, fencing or gates, be sure to know where your property lines are located and obtain a sketch of each segment of the project from your vendor with all the dimensions. If your project will impact the property of your neighbor, get the needed permission letters.
Be aware that expansions of the footprint of your home involve a more detailed process that can take additional time before an ARC decision is made. Check out Board Policy ARC-006, which is also found on the SCOV website at Mem bers > Documents > Board Policy.
Welcome New Neighbors – August

ARC Submittals
Residents continue to make many improvements to their homes. Delays in getting qualified workers and materials have been frustrating. Submitting to the Architectural Review Committee (ARC) for approval of your project should not add any undue burden. If you need help with your submittal, please contact the Architectural Coordinator, Katy Mosier, and she will help you with any questions you have about the process.
The first and perhaps most important step: Please read the SCOV Development Standards so that you know what you are able to do to the exterior of your home prior to get ting quotes from vendors, etc. This is critical if you have any deadlines in mind. Check our SCOV website at Members > Documents > Development Standards. Paper copies are available at the Welcome Center.
Please be prepared by having made the decisions about a contractor, materials, colors, all dimensions, placement and any other specifics. Take pictures of the location where you want to make changes to the exterior of your home, pictures

The Library welcomes local Tucson author Becky Master son. Nominated for the Edgar, Anthony, Macavity, Barry and CWA Gold Dagger awards, her crime novels transcend the genre with page turning twists and turns from a tough and cunning older investigator. Details for her presentation are in Coming Events on page 11.
A special thank you to all the residents who have donated puzzles to the Library. The puzzle wall has never looked bet ter with such a wide variety of scenes and sizes to choose from. Please help yourself to a puzzle, and then return it to the Library when you are finished. We are happy to reshelve these to keep the collection balanced.

Importance of Core Strength
Many people may not realize how much our larger core muscles influence our everyday life. We have all done situps and push-ups, but there is more to exercising your core. The muscles in our abdomen, trunk and even pelvis need to be in harmony in order to achieve better balance and stabil ity, either on the field, court or for everyday activities. Many of the exercises that target our core do not require any type of specialized equipment. Doing something as simple as a “bridge” can strengthen muscles in the pelvic area. You can enhance strengthening by adding any type of resistance or weight. If you strengthen the muscles in your core, every thing from swimming, playing golf, or even bending over to tie your shoe will be easier. Strengthening your core can improve posture and minimize lower back pain. There are also many low-impact activities that target our core and are simple to do, even for beginners.

Architectural Inspection Group
Conveyance Coordinator, Jack Mooney, 520-917-8087, scoroval@ciramail.com
Moving into your new home can be an exciting and stress ful time. With all the closing documents and SCOV governing documents, it can be a bit overwhelming. We understand. However, please take a moment to review those documents again and check to see if there were any unresolved HOA violations that need your attention. These violations don’t just go away after you move into your new home.
According to SCOV governing documents, homes with violations are to be inspected 30 days after you close. The individuals charged with that inspection process are volun teer members of the Architectural Inspection Group (AIG) who live in our community. They give their time and ability to ensure this community stays the treasure it is now.
If one of these AIG volunteers comes to re-inspect your property, please be kind and understand their key role in our community. If you need more time to correct something, please politely let them know or call the SCOV Conveyance Coordinator at 520-917-8087 to request an extension. We will do our best to help. We truly thank you for your coopera tion in our mission.

Everyone has trash cans. Some store theirs in the garage and others have made investments in order to keep their cans on the side of their homes. Section 2.5 of the Develop ment Standards is pretty clear: “All Trash Containers must be covered and stored on a lot not visible from Neighboring Property or the street.” There are suggested materials that can be used to achieve this. If we can see your trash cans, then you have not invested enough to hide them.
It is not sufficient just to have them behind a gate, short piece of wall, a single bush or your primary AC unit. We all know the term, “Out of sight, out of mind.” If you can see blue, it’s time to consider an upgrade.

The restaurant is still operating with a profit, and commu nity support has been great during the summer, with much support on music nights. We plan to add a couple more music nights each month, and a new Coffee with a Cop is scheduled. Gratuities are still at a high level, and your regular continued support is appreciated by the restaurant staff. Grab your neighbor and take advantage of the best value breakfasts in Pima County. If you are a club officer, think about working out a social event where The Views can supply the lunch or refreshments. Finally, take notice of the restaurant artwork that periodically changes, thanks to Joan Kelley.

Shop hours: Mon.-Sat., 10 AM-1 PM www.suncityorovalley.com/gift-shop
Featured artists for Octo ber are Sharon Henderson and Trisha Bergen. Sharon makes photo cards for the shop with inspirational words or vers es. “I learned to knit very young and have baby blankets and dish cloths in the shop.”
Sharon also sews wine bottle cov ers and seatbelt covers as well as microwave bowl holders. “I enjoy working in the shop as it is a wonderful way of meet ing people and sharing how wonderful Sun City is.”
Many pathways led Trisha to glass fusing. She was raised in the Hudson Valley, majored in art in college and traveled the world. She settled for a long time in Taos, NM. Absorbed in glass fusing, she loves both the flexibility and the restrictions of warm glass. Every bit of glass is hand-cut, handshaped. “I layer and fire the glass in my kiln, working with it several times until I see what I love.”
Government Affairs
Chair Earl Vittitoe scovga@gmail.com Second Wed., 1 PM, WC1 www.suncityorovalley.com/committees/government-affairs/
On August 31 and September 8, the Government Affairs Committee (GAC) held two successful forums with the Oro Valley Police Department. The August 31 forum featured Po lice Chief Kara Riley, who made a presentation on the inner workings of the Oro Valley Police Department, the recruitment program and how the police work to keep Oro Valley and SCOV safe. She then took questions from the audience.
The September 8 informal forum, Coffee with a Cop, was held at The Views Restaurant from 8-9 AM. It provided res idents the opportunity to meet and have discussions with members of the police department and share their thoughts with the officers.
GAC plans on making Coffee with a Cop a regular event.

The Chalk Creek Wash is the largest wash in our commu nity. In the past, heavy storms caused damage to the wash and golf course in addition to threatening homes. As a re sult, a program was established to maintain the wash and minimize the threat from heavy storms. A key element to the ongoing maintenance of the wash is a series of inspections to determine the condition of the creek and identify potential threats to surrounding properties. The Properties Commit tee together with HOA staff will conduct an inspection during October. The Properties Committee works on a variety of tasks like this during the year. Our recent meetings have been in person and via Zoom. Please see the calendar on the SCOV website for scheduled meeting dates, times and meeting format.

The golf course is closed for overseeding through October 9. The driving range will be open, hitting on mats. Mats only will be used to allow the ryegrass to get established before we open for play on Monday, October 10. Please do not hit off the grass during this time, when it is closed, because it will damage the overseed germination and im pact density for the entire winter. A watering schedule will be posted explaining when the sprinklers will run throughout the day.
Before reopening for golf, we will host our annual 5k run/ walk event on Sunday, October 9. For more details and to register, go to www.theviewsgolfclub.com.
We will remain cart path only from October 10 through October 23.
Our fall rates begin Monday, October 10. Members’ and residents’ guests play at the resident guest’s daily rate when accompanied by a member or resident. Guest rate is based on the resident rate plus an additional $10 for 18 holes and $5 for nine holes. A cart fee will be applied for members or residents using a club cart during the fall, winter, and spring. Daily cart fees for 18 holes are $15 and $10 for nine holes pp.

The biggest event of October is opening following overseeding. Since the fairways were not overseeded last winter, all the fairways will be overseeded this year. The Bermuda grass is very healthy in the fairways, and will provide a good seedbed for ryegrass germi nation. This will allow for a lower ryegrass seed rate and require less water to establish a good stand of rye, as com pared to a normal overseed when the fairways usually have a thinner stand of Bermuda grass.
The driving range tee and most of the other tees will also be overseeded this year. Some tees transitioned with some bare areas that needed sod replacement this summer. These tees will not be overseeded to ensure a healthy grass next year, but will be painted when they start to go dormant. The paint used last winter provided good color on the nonoverseeded tees, the playability remained good and those tees were in much better condition this summer.
Areas that were originally going to be overseeded, but will be skipped again this year, are the aprons around the greens. When the new greens were built, the low mow areas around the greens were planted with soil-based sod. That is causing the Bermuda grass to remain wet and thin from the irrigation. These areas have been aerified and sand topdressed multiple times, but the Bermuda grass is still weak and wet. If these areas are overseeded, the Bermuda grass would die, requiring lots of repairs next summer. The aprons will be painted green when the grass goes dormant.

To paraphrase an old adage, “If you are good at pool, it is evidence of a misguided youth.” How ever, the Billiard Club members may take ex ception to this saying.
There are four pool tables in the Catalina Vista Billiard Room that are available to you, at no cost, whenever there is not scheduled play. With the help of your Foundation, the Bil liards Club purchased a video projector training system for one of the pool tables. This system projects various patterns onto the table. This will help new people learn to play, as well as help to improve the skills of those who have been playing for years.

A hy droponic floating island adds value by providing a safe, aes thetically pleasing living habitat for aquatic birds, shade and cover for fish, and a sustainable root system to pull nutrients from the water. Our studio windows are full of beautiful creations. A bit of planning and coordination is needed to accomplish this dis play. Clay member, Barb Pe tersen, has volunteered for this task for the past two years. Barb commented, “I love showcasing all the talent we have in the club. And because we learn from each other, we have educational windows in our glaze studio where we share techniques.”
Featured this month is painter, Ann Gethen. “We have just returned to SCOV and are now year-round residents after selling our Colorado house. Now I need to use the studio at Catalina Vista more often. My easel is packed away and my drawing table needs a new home. I paint wood, weeds and wilderness. I love the textures I get with my painting knife and the weeds are watercolor botanicals which turned into a book: Rocky Mountain Wildflowers, An Artist’s Collection Now I need to start on cacti.
“St. Peter, I can’t come yet, I have one more picture to paint.” Always.

Second Fri., 8:30 AM, Catalina Vista/Pusch Ridge www.scovaz.com/clubs/modelers
Modelers often use commer cial kits as the basis for their work, either as is, modified, or blended with other kits, known as kit-bashing. Michael Fox wanted a build ing to represent the Nicollet Fur niture Company on his model railroad which is set in Minneapo lis in 1970. With no known pho tographs of this building, he chose a craftsman kit for a similar small factory. The challenge was to add details that would make it look like a 1970s specialized furniture company. New signage over the loading dock used letters from the craft supplier Etsy. A cyclone dust collector on the roof suggested sawdust. What to put on the billboard? An Internet search revealed popu lar decorating colors and photos of high style furniture from 1970. Microsoft Word did the rest. For fellowship and to en joy more model making, join us for our next monthly meeting Friday, October 14, 8:30 AM, Catalina Vista.

We have triplets of this little guy, thanks to the handy work of Miriam Holleman, one of our newest members of SFK.
We do more than create toys. This year we donated food, hygiene items, household goods and ba sic needs for the TriCom munity area. Gift Shop sales and a sales table at the Arts and Crafts Festi val in the courtyard on Saturday, November 12, 9 AM-3 PM, help raise these funds. We have given monetary donations to Tu Nidito to support their volunteer programs of grief counseling. We sponsor the Kuddles for Kids proj ect (watch for more infor mation to come) that unites all of SCOV in collecting stuffed animals for AVIVA, Three Points, Mammoth and other places where children need a warm hand to hold. Join us at our next business meeting and become involved in our happy group.

The groups under the Thimblelenas umbrella are master recyclers. We accept donations of fabric, thread and other sewing notions, yarn, bed sheets (never used to cover cac tus), t-shirts, as well as money. With these donated and purchased items, we are able to produce hundreds of baby quilts, tote bags, stuffed toys, crib sheets, pillow cases, sleep sacks, pajama sets and other items each year. These are given to several Southern Arizona charities involved with children in crisis. If you would like to make a donation or par ticipate in any of the clubs, contact one of the names listed in the heading above, or stop by the Sewing Room during any club time. If you are not a sewist, no problem, there are many other tasks.

Mon. and Thu., 9 AM-Noon, Artisan Center/Sewing
Do you love to sew but don’t have any need for more clothes? There is always the opportunity to sew for charity here in SCOV. Casa Amigas sews simple patterns for sleep pants, sleep sacks and other items that we donate to various community organizations. Don’t worry about having to sew anything complicated. We’re in need of more people who like to sew once or twice a week. Come to the Sewing Room on Monday or Thursday morning and see what we do. It’s a chance to join a fun, loving group of women. What’s more satisfying than being with a group that loves doing things for others?
Cheer Bears

Wed., 1-3 PM, Artisan Center/Sewing
We are still embroidering faces, sewing bodies, stuffing them with love, and filling the shelves for the next set to march out to new families. Noth ing has stopped us this year. Life is good and spirits are up.
We are back to our schedule to put all our love in the little bears we create and children love. Come join us to complete our task. Smiles to everyone. We have many adventures to talk about and laughter to share. We know you would really en joy the friendliness and relaxing times that abound from the Sewing Room as we whistle while we work.
Just a small sample of our cuties smiling at you.
This summer we have been sharing our creations with the SCOV community by selling a few bears a month at the Gift Shop. We will also be selling at the Seniors for Kids table at the Arts and Crafts Festival, November 12. Hope to see you there.

This picture of her project was chosen to illus trate the use of two different materials that are variegated in color. On the left, Coni used wool strips from the variegated material for the background. The right picture illustrates the use of a var iegated yarn for the background. As you can see, the use of variegated colors in a background helps to create depth and interest to the design.

Turquoise has been prized as a rare and valuable gem and an ornamental stone for thousands of years. In the Old World it was thought to be a holy stone, a bringer of good fortune and worn around the neck and wrist as protection. Here in the American Southwest, it is a favorite of Native American artisans crafting jewelry along with sterling silver settings. Our club members enjoy cutting, shaping and polishing uncut turquoise, crafting a sterling silver set ting and producing a fine piece of jewelry. Other stones commonly used are agate, malachite, lapis, coral and mother of pearl. Come by our shop and see our lapidary and silversmithers crafting tur quoise and other fine jewelry.

She had no previous experience with glass before joining the club in May. Coko brings from San Di ego a fascinating past. She was a performing musician with an all girl band for 15 years. Hopefully, we’ll be hear ing her perform at The Views Restaurant in the near future. Also, working with native plants in San Diego, Coko be came a master gardener. She has been a visual artist for most of her life and loves working in the mixed media arena with wood (she is a Woodworking Club member), clay, textiles and paint. Coko’s future goal is to teach paint ing in our community. Her website is www.cokobrown.com. We encourage you to visit our studio, where you will meet many skilled and gifted artists.

www.scovwoodworkingclub.com
The Wood Shop is starting to hum with activity as our seasonal members begin filtering back into town. For many SCOV residents, the Wood Shop is their happy place, in large part because of our talented and skilled shop monitors. Larry Brophy is the head Wood Shop monitor and the fea tured woodworker of the month.
Larry creates functional art. He’s the creator of gnat caps, the wine glass protector that keeps bugs out of your glass. His latest functional art cre ations are his Romeo and Juliet cutting boards created from domestic and exotic hardwoods. Not only useful as cutting and charcuterie boards, an acrylic wall hanger keeps them handy and off the kitchen counter.
A new member orientation is held at the Wood Shop the first Wednesday of each month, 4 PM. Call Bill Nor ton 480-980-5493 for further instructions. For questions or more information, visit the website or call an officer.

Hello ladies of SCOV. We pray you are all doing well, those who stayed here over the summer, and those return ing to our beautiful community. Wednesday, October 5, we will begin our new study entitled “Portraits of Strength: The Women of the Judges.” The format will be the same, a work book and a video in class. Here is a synopsis: “This study explores the unique lives of the women of the Judges: Debo rah, Jael, Ruth, Naomi, and Hannah. Each woman had her own personality of strength in faith, character and hope. In a time when everyone did what was right in their own eyes, these women looked to the Lord and found their strength in Him. They show us every woman has a place to play in the kingdom of God.” Call Elaine if you have any questions. See you Wednesday.

Georgia Douglas Johnson (1880-1966) has been considered the foremost female poet of the Harlem Renaissance, mostly due to her mentoring of younger writers. Her poetry is in the public domain and the following example may seem old-fashioned in form, but the tone, language and emotional impact of “Lost Illusions” display both her talent and her despair. As a widow for roughly 40 years, she accepted jobs in other than her chosen fields (writing, teaching) to support herself.
“Oh, for the veils of my far away youth, / Shielding my heart from the blaze of the truth, Why did I stray from their shelter and grow / Into the sadness that follows—to know!
“Impotent atom with desolate gaze / Threading the tumult of hazardous ways—Oh, for the veils, for the veils of my youth / Veils that hung low o’er the blaze of the truth!”
While pain and sadness are nearly inescapable as we age, poetry can put them in perspective.

Welcome to tomorrow from the SCOV tech nerds. Have you ever woken up in the morning and wished the coffee could start brewing while you were still sleeping? Chances are you got out of bed, turned on the coffee and waited impatiently until its brewed. Have you ever laid in bed at night and wondered if the garage door was closed? If so, you had to go and check before the javelina or rattlesnakes found it open.
Our world is filled with those little annoyances that touch our lives. If you are interested in finding out a new approach to these inconveniences, maybe you should try home au tomation. It’s not as difficult as you may think. There are a myriad of solutions in today’s technical environment, like Al exa and Google Home. If we piqued your interest, try one of our Smart Home classes which can be found on the SCOV Technology Club web page class schedule. See Workshops and Classes on page 12.

Dancing to music from Whiskey River Dogs
We had a good dance season from October 2021 to May 2022, with some off-site dances and our on-site dances at Catalina Vista. Our 2022-2023 season will start Friday, Oc tober 28, with a dance at Catalina Vista. We are planning to hold a refresher class or two in the fall. Stay tuned for details or send an email to KKSCOV@gmail.com. There are also dance opportunities at SaddleBrooke Ranch. An email went out in late August with the flyer for the September dances at SaddleBrooke Ranch. We danced there twice this summer. They have a good dance floor.
One of our favorite bands, Clear Country, is playing every Tuesday night at the Outlaw Saloon from 6-10 PM. It’s a good chance to go and practice your two-step dancing.
For Kactus Kickers members, continue to check the Tip ster and your email for information about upcoming dances and the fall dance schedule.

Join us to meet new people and spend a couple of hours socializing and being challenged to increase vocabulary. Scrabble is one of the most misunderstood games ever invented. Mention playing Scrabble to anyone and the re sponse will be “I do not spell well.” This is pretty much a standard response; however, SCOV Scrabble Club has the accepted and official Scrabble Dictionaries and word sheets in order for anyone to check their spelling of a word and the meaning. Also, we have two- and four-letter sheets in order to confirm the spelling of a word.
None of the members of the Scrabble Club are considered sharks. We simply enjoy spending an afternoon with friends and meeting new people and exercising our brains.
