Note From The Editors “Noting all of the Keys this Month”
Hello PHHS Key Clubbers!!!!
April has past, and already we are into the month of May! While it’s only been a short while that we’ve been attending to our posts as editors, we feel right at home. This issue is particularly suited to that feeling, as it features some happenings indicative of getting acquainted with the new service year. It includes a formal release of the past year’s officers and an induction of the new, as well as this club’s first district program contribution with a children’s food collection. Peek into the pages for information regarding these and more!
Yours in Caring and Service,
Sharon Christian and tara Srinivasan

Children’s Food Collection Summer vacation is just around the corner, promising lots of relaxation and free time— but
for many children, it means not having access to school lunches for two months. While their parents go to work and kids are left at home, easy-to-prepare food is a valuable resource. This month, we are focusing on providing kid-friendly food to these homes so that shortage is not an issue. Nonperishable items like cereal and other breakfast foods, snack bags and bars, and microwavable goods are the types of foods needed to be brought in. Next time you visit your local supermarket, consider spending a little extra to help a child not worry about being hungry! Collection will start soon.

General Member Checklist What makes Key Club work? The immediate answer may be the officers, from District level
to those of each Division to those of each individual high school club… But in reality, it’s the general members that make the greatest difference! The dedication and sense of caring that each member contributes to their community is what is at the heart of Key Club, and so it is important that each member understands their duty and responsibility. Here are some points for general members to keep in mind this service year: Keep track of upcoming events. When you receive the 2015-2016 event calendar in September, be sure to keep it in a place where you won't lose it. It lists all the major events throughout the year, and is a helpful tool for planning your service. Be an active member. Without participation from its members, our club would get nowhere! Make a difference in your community and have fun at the same time by participating in the various events. Try gathering a group of friends to expand the effort. Get out of your comfort zone. Big events like Fall Rally and District Convention may seem overwhelming, but they are great opportunities to get to know Key Club better. By exposing yourself to these events, you can learn more about what Key Club is doing outside of PHHS and meet tons of new people! Ask questions. Is there something about the club or an event you don't understand? Don't hesitate to consult an advisor or an officer for more information so you can become an expert on all things the club has to offer. Suggest new ideas. Key Club is built on the imagination of its members, and there's always new ways of helping. If you have any ideas for a new event or project, don't keep it to yourself! Talk to your board and they can help make your plans a reality. The possibilities are endless. Go an extra step. After experiencing what it’s like being a full-fledged general member of Key Club, perhaps you would like to further expose yourself to club life behind-thescenes. Consider running for an executive board position so you can contribute even more to the inner workings of the club! Key Notes • May 2015 2015•• Volume VolumeXLI XLI Issue II • Page 42
Induction of New Officers On April 28th, to commemorate the start of the new service year, the 2014-
2015 Key Club officers formally stepped down from their positions as the new board members were inducted into their respective spots. Even though the former board members would be greatly missed for their hard work and dedication in making this club so well respected in the community, the 20152016 Club officers will resume and improve the reputation this club has. Despite the changing times, we still thank the previous board members for making PHHS Key Club the best club ever!
On May 5th, LTG Priya Lad trained the newly inducted board members on their respective posts.

2014-2015 President Datri: Final Remarks “Being president this year has been such an amazing experience. I was afraid to run for president, and even more afraid when I actually won, but I am so glad that I did. Key Club has helped me to step out of my comfort zone and break out of my shell. I am so happy to have had the chance to work with such an amazing group of kids and am extremely grateful to my extraordinary executive board. Without the help of them, Mrs. Sturm and Mrs. Mann, this year would not have been as successful as it was. Thank you PHHS Key Club for allowing me to be your president this year and good luck in the next service year! ” Key Notes • May 2015 2015•• Volume VolumeXLI XLI Issue II • Page 62
