Puppy perishes in fire LEAMINGTON — A young couple is without a home and without their puppy after a fire at a Leamington service sta-

tion last Tuesday. On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 12, Leamington Fire Services received a call from staff

utes, and upon arrival there was smoke visible from both floors of the building. Staff advised the firefighters that the fire was in the storage room and office area. Fire crews quickly knocked down the majority of the fire and then conducted a search of the apartment on the second floor, where they found a deceased puppy, which had perished from smoke inhalation. There were working smoke alarms in both apartments and the damage on the second floor was limited to smoke damage only. The tenants were not home when the fire occurred. Police and fire had Seacliff Drive closed for a couple of hours to keep traffic away from the scene.
