COME WINE WITH ME From brews to booze...
Sangria We all enjoy a jug of Sangria alongside the beach on a hot sunny day, so following here are a couple of recipes for you to make your own.
How to make perfect sangria
1. Choose your wine – red, white or rosé? 2. Pick a mixer, from traditional lemonade to fruit juice or cordial 3. Add a touch of something stronger, like sherry, vermouth or cherry brandy 4. Garnish with fruit There are two schools of thought when it comes to the base ingredient of sangria. The budget-friendly, nonchalant approach is to use cheap wine, which is then masked by the fruit and sweet soda. However, paying more attention to the choice of wine will mean you can match its flavour profile to your additions. We’re not talking mega spending here – Spain produces some wines that are flavour-rich but reasonable in price. Wine expert Tom Forest likes to use red wine to stay loyal to the origins of the word sangria itself. ‘Sangre’ is the Spanish word for blood, after all. He recommends looking for Spanish reds from lesser-known regions such as Toro, Rueda and Somontano. Here you’ll find wine that’s similar to Rioja with a smaller price tag. Whichever red you choose, Tom suggests going for one that’s dry – you’ll be adding enough sweetness to it with the soda and fruit. Try to find something young and fruity, rather than an aged, oaky wine. Sangria can also be made with rosé, white wine, cava or prosecco, but it’s important to match your additions accordingly.
The Mixer
The Spanish aren’t afraid of adding soft drinks to red wine, a statement that would cause some wine purists to shudder. ‘Tinto de verano’ is a combination of red wine with orange or lemon soda, while calimocho (or kalimotxo) is red wine with cola added. Opt for these if you want an elementary version of sangria – plus they carry added kudos for authenticity. When it comes to traditional sangria, simple lemonade is often the most effective mixer. In Spain, cloudy lemonade, such as Fanta Limón, is popular, so try to source something similar. Orange soda or ginger beer – albeit in carefully controlled quantities – would work as carbonated additions alongside, or instead of, lemonade. Or you can use still fruit juice such as blood orange, grape or apple juice, mixed with a little soda water if you prefer a fizzy finish. Before getting to the garnishing stage, some people like to add a splash of spirit or liqueur. It’s essentially a case of personal taste, but we suggest something with a fairly low ABV as you’re looking to ramp up the flavour rather than the already hefty alcohol content. Marsala, orange liqueur, fortified wine, sherry, red vermouth or cherry brandy would work well in small doses, but sangria recipes containing vodka, rum or, more commonly, brandy do exist. Treat with caution and warn your guests that this isn't a grog to be fervently glugged. You can use almost any fruit in sangria, although slices of orange or lemon are a common choice. Why not add some mint leaves and cinnamon for extra spice!

AT THE MOVIES Films to look out for in the coming months.
Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood In theatres August 15th, 2019. STORYLINE In 1969 Los Angeles, actor Rick Dalton, who starred in a black-and-white Western television series called Bounty Law that began in the late '50s, finds his career is faltering due to ongoing alcoholism issues. Dalton dwindles into a drawling functional binge alongside Cliff Booth, his longtime stunt double and best friend where he laments that his career is over. Booth, by contrast, is a Vietnam war veteran who lives in a derelict trailer next to the Van Nuys Drive-In but seems happy and satisfied. Booth is also rumored to have murdered his wife, and gotten away with it. While passing the day by, Booth participates in a fists-meetsmartial-arts duel on the set of The Green Hornet with Bruce Lee. Later, Dalton, playing a black-hatted villain on a new series called Lancer, gets into a philosophical chat about acting with his 8-year-old costar, a budding feminist and method actress.
INFORMATION Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a 2019 black comedydrama film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino (Quentin Tarantino's ninth feature film) Produced by Columbia Pictures and Heyday Films, it is an international co-production between the United States and the United Kingdom. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, alongside Emile Hirsch, Margaret Qualley, Timothy Olyphant, Austin Butler, Dakota Fanning, Bruce Dern, and Al Pacino. First announced in July 2017, the film is the first of Tarantino's not to be associated with producer Harvey Weinstein, after Tarantino cut ties with The Weinstein Company following sexual abuse allegations against Weinstein that October.

N332 Driving in Spain
the best place to find easily digestible information regarding road and traffic laws in Spain.
STOP!
in the name of the law The security services (Guardia Civil, Police etc) carry out regular checkpoints on the roads, sometimes these are part of routine operations such as combating drink driving , or vehicle inspections. Sometimes these checks are part of an increase in security. Sometimes, although rarely, they are directly related to a specific threat. Although it may seem daunting to approach and be stopped at one of these checkpoints, it is important to remember that they are being conducted for your safety. These checkpoints do catch criminals, those risking road safety, terrorists and others, but the vast majority of people are allowed to go about their business normally. The key phrase to remember when you see one of these checkpoints is, “Nothing to Hide, Nothing to Fear”. It is only those who have done wrong, or considering it, who should in fact be concerned. The first rule when approaching such a checkpoint is to stay calm. Respond and react to the instructions given to you by the officers conducting the check. They may usher your vehicle to a chosen place, they may ask you to exit the vehicle and they may wish you check the contents of your car, as well as your documentation. Simply let the officers get on with their duties and they will let you get on your way as soon as possible.
Secondly, although equally important, do not share this location information to others. Posting this information on social networks such as facebook and Twitter for example can alert those who have done wrong about the presence of the checkpoint, allowing them to get away. The point of these checkpoints is to catch bad people, so please don´t share the information. You might think you are doing others a favour, but if a criminal is allowed to avoid being caught, they will be free to carry out even more of their chosen activities. Finally, do not be overly alarmed. The presence of additional security teams on the streets is not a direct indication of an increase in the threat level. The Spanish Interior Ministry publish the details of the current threat level on their website, www.interior.gob.es . On the right hand side is a green box marked NAA, or Nivel de Alerta Antiterrorista. If you click that you will see the current status level. The level has been at stage 4, high, for some time, since June of 2015 to be exact, which is all listed on the page for your information and peace of mind. Remember, stay calm and act on the instructions given. “Nothing to Hide, Nothing to Fear”.
You can find more info and additional stories by visiting their website www.n332.es or liking their page on Facebook/N332. They also have a new magazine “N332 Road watch” available for download as PDF for just 2 euros. 9

EYE HEALTH Optimal vision & healthy eyes
Optimal vision thanks to anti-glare protection: the filter categories. One reason we wear sunglasses is so as not to have to use a hand to shield our eyes from sunlight. The lenses absorb the visible light aimed at the eyes. The darker the lenses, the higher the protection. The levels of protection are divided up into so-called filter categories.
Healthy eyes thanks to UV protection.
are certified as UV 400, it means they filter UV-rays with a wavelength of up to 400 nanometres, thus protecting you from both UV-A and UV-B rays. Warning: Sunglasses with dark lenses but no UV-protection are more dangerous than you might think. The lenses shield the eyes from visible light, which means the pupils distend more. However, the UVrays still get through to the eyes. The result is that a larger proportion of harmful light reaches the distended pupils.
On the safe side – the key features of quality sunglasses In addition to visible light, the sun also sends invisible rays to the Earth. While UV-C rays are absorbed by the Earth’s atmosphere, UV-B and UV-A rays penetrate the atmosphere and reach the Earth’s surface. Even in the shade or in cloudy conditions the exposure level can be as high as 90 percent. Particular caution is urged at the sea or in mountainous areas: bright sand, water and snow reflect sunlight and heighten its effect by up to 70 percent. Anyone who has ever suffered from sunburn knows how strong the effect of UV radiation can be. When it comes to the eyes, UV-rays can lead to problems such as conjunctivitis, corneal inflammation and in the long-term possibly even cataracts. Sunglasses with guaranteed UV-protection are therefore essential for the health of your eyes, whatever the weather and surroundings. If the sunglasses
• Sunglass lenses should have no streaks, air bubbles or inclusions and should resist rather than yield to light finger pressure
• Lenses with a fully anti-reflective coating minimise reflections that may be caused by light entering from above or the sides and hitting the back surfaces of your lenses. • An important indicator of quality is the CE-label, which every pair of sunglasses sold in Europe has to carry. It’s situated on the inner side of the temples and is evidence that the sunglasses correspond to EU standards. Tip: It’s quite easy to create a fake CE-label. So if you want to be absolutely sure that your sunglasses offer the necessary protection, it can be a good idea to get your optician to test them. 13
LIFESTYLE Health & Well-being
making a
SPLASH Now summer is well and truly with us we thought we would put some sports for you to enjoy in the sea in the hot weather. With lots of beaches around you should be able to find somewhere that you can have a go at any of these sports.
Kayaking
Kayaking is the use of a kayak for moving across water. It is distinguished from canoeing by the sitting position of the paddler and the number of blades on the paddle. A kayak is a low-to-the-water, canoe-like boat in which the paddler sits facing forward, legs in front, using a double-bladed paddle to pull front-to-back on one side and then the other in rotation. Most kayaks have closed decks, although sit-on-top and inflatable kayaks are growing in popularity as well.
Wind Surfing
Windsurfing is a surface water sport that combines elements of surfing and sailing. It consists of a board usually 2 to 2.5 metres (6 ft 7 in to 8 ft 2 in) long, with displacements typically between 45 and 150 litres (9.9 and 33.0 imp gal; 12 and 40 US gal), powered by wind on a sail. 14
The rig is connected to the board by a free-rotating universal joint and consists of a mast, boom and sail. On “short boards the sail area generally ranges from 1.5 to 12 square metres (16 to 129 sq ft) depending on the conditions, the skill of the sailor, the type of windsurfing being undertaken and the weight of the person windsurfing. On long boards, upon which the sport was first popularized -sail areas and board lengths are typically larger and the athleticism required is much less.
Water Skiing
Water skiing is a surface water sport in which an individual is pulled behind a boat or a cable ski installation over a body of water, skimming the surface on two skis or one ski. The sport requires sufficient area on a smooth stretch of water, one or two skis, a tow boat with tow rope, three people (depending on state boating laws), and a personal flotation device. In addition, the skier must have adequate upper and lower body strength, muscular endurance, and good balance. There are many options for recreational or competitive water skiers. These include speed skiing, trick skiing, show skiing, slaloming, jumping, barefoot skiing and wakeski. Similar,
related sports are wakeboarding, kneeboarding, discing, tubing, and sit-down hydrofoil.
Jet Skiing
Many of us likely had an introduction to the thrills of jet skiing whilst on holiday, but it’s not just the beaches of the Caribbean or some other exotic location that are the places to go. Jet skiing is a high speed water sport that is great for developing your balance and coordination skills as well as your leg muscles. There are many great locations where you can get a great introduction to jet skiing. Of all the water sports, jet skiing is probably the easiest to pick up. It’s also probably the fastest, and it’s the adrenaline attached to that speed that attracts thousands of people to the sport.
Kite Surfing
Kiteboarding is an action sport combining aspects of wakeboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, skateboarding and sailing into one extreme sport. A kiteboarder harnesses the power of the wind with a large controllable power kite to be propelled across the water. Compared to the other sailing sports, kiteboarding is both
FLYBOARD
A Flyboard is a brand of hydroflighting device which supplies propulsion to drive the Flyboard into the air to perform a sport known as hydroflying.
A Flyboard rider stands on a board connected by a long hose to a watercraft. Water is forced under pressure to a pair of boots with jet nozzles underneath which provide thrust for the rider to fly up to 15m (49ft) in the air or to dive headlong through the water down to 2.5m (8 ft).
PADELBOARD
Paddleboarding participants are propelled by a swimming motion using their arms while lying, kneeling, or standing on a paddleboard or surfboard in the ocean. A derivative of this is stand up paddleboarding also called stand up paddle surfing. Paddleboarding is usually performed in the open ocean, with the participant paddling and surfing unbroken swells to cross between islands or journey from one coastal area to another. Champion paddlers can stroke for hours and a 20-mile (32km) race is only a warm-up for well-trained paddlers.
JUST FOR FUN
A banana boat (or water sled), is an un-powered, inflatable recreational boat meant to be towed. Different models usually accommodate three to ten riders sitting on a larger, main tube and resting their feet on two laterally flanking tubes which stabilize the boat. The main tube is often yellow and bananashaped. Some models have two main tubes.
among the less expensive (including equipment) and the more convenient. It is also unique in that it harvests the wind energy from a much larger atmosphere volume, comparing to sail size. Rorkes Drift (The story of the bravest battle ever fought)
13 Days to Glory: Siege of the Alamo, 1836
THE BATTLE FOR THE FALKLANDS By Max Hastings & Simon Jenkins.
On 22nd January 1879 a force of 20,000 Zulus overwhelmed and destroyed the British invading force at Isandlwana, killing and ritually disembowelling over 1200 troops. That afternoon, the same Zulu force turned their attention on a small outpost at Rorke's Drift.
Lon Tinkle tells the day-by-day story of how 182 men fought a losing battle but won for their cause an almost unparalleled measure of fame.
The Falklands War was one of the strangest in British history – 28,000 men sent to fight for a tiny relic of empire 8,000 miles from home. At the time, many Britons saw it as a tragic absurdity, but the British victory confirmed the quality of British arms and boosted the political fortunes of the Conservative government. But it left a chequered aftermath; it was of no wider significance for British interests and taught no lessons. It has since been overshadowed by the two Gulf Wars, however, its political ramifications cannot be overestimated.
Adrian Greaves's new research shows there are several things about the myth of Rorke's Drift that don't add up. While it was the scene of undoubted bravery, it was also the scene of some astonishing cases of cowardice, and there is increasing evidence to suggest that the legend of Rorke's Drift was created to divert attention from the appalling British mistakes which caused the earlier defeat at Isandlwana.
The familiar figures appear on these pages: stern young Colonel William Barret Travis; the middle-aged fighter Jim Bowie, who contested the young upstart's comand; famous frontiersman Davy Crockett, soon to have his stock in legend rise even higher. Echoing the shot heard round the world in 1776, the volleys fired by the Alamo defenders were aimed at the large and welloutfitted army of Santa Anna, self-styled "Napoleon of the West." As the days of the siege are described, the author cinematically flashes back to pivotal points of destiny--the circumstance that led each person to be inside the walls of the abandoned mission late in the winter of 1836.
Max Hastings’ and Simon Jenkins’ "The Battle for the Falklands" is a vivid chronicle of a call to arms and a thoughtful and informed analysis of an astonishing chapter in the history of our times.

method 1. Heat the oil in a wide, lidded frying pan, then soften the onion for 5 mins. Increase the heat a little, stir in the ginger, garlic, shrimp paste, chilli and lemon-grass, and cook for 2 mins. Add the curry powder and sugar, and keep stirring. When the sugar starts to melt and everything starts to clump together, add the coriander stems, coconut milk and 2 tbsp water, then bring to a simmer. 2. Add the fish to the sauce, tuck the prawns in here and there, then squeeze over half the lime. Pop on the lid and simmer for 5 mins more or until the hake is just cooked and flaking, and the prawns are pink through. Taste for seasoning, adding a squeeze more lime to the sauce if you like. It is now over 8 years ago that he died but still love watching some of the replays of this extraordinary man´s talent and charisma. He was much loved by the British golfing public." The Editor
Remembering
SEVE BALLESTEROS
Severiano, son of Baldomero Ballesteros and Carmen Sota, was born on April 9th, 1957 in the small fisherman’s village of Pedreña, on the southern side of the Bay of Santander in northern Spain. This area has one of the greatest golfing traditions in Continental Europe. Seve’s brothers were golf professionals and his uncle, Ramón Sota, was one of the best players in Europe during the sixties. With this background, an impressive natural talent, and his determination and hard work, Seve learned to play golf using a 3 iron that his brother Manuel gave him, and developed a huge variety of shots playing on the local beach. At the age of ten, he took part in his first caddy tournament. He recorded a score of 51 over 9 holes at Pedreña Golf Club, starting with a 10 on the first hole – a par 3. The following year, he finished second with 42.At the age of 12 he played the full 18 holes and won the event with a score of 79. His progress from then was rapid – at 13 he shot a 65. Seve was not often allowed to play much on the local Royal Pedreña Golf Club so most of his early golf was played on the beach and when he climbed over the wall in Pedreña to play the course on moonlit nights. He turned professional on March 22nd, 1974 just short of his 17th birthday and announced his retirement on July 16th, 2007 at the age of 50, during the British Open. His career achievements include 93 tournament victories including five Majors; British Open in 1979, 1984 and 1988; US Masters 1980 and 1983. He won five World Match-Plays, two World Cups and played in nine Ryder Cups Matches, captaining the winning team in Spain in 1997.
Seve is widely regarded as the reason for changing the history of the Ryder Cup and making it one of the most famous sporting events in the world today. Because of Seve the event changed from USA v British & Irish players to USA v Continental European players. In 1979 Seve and Antonio Garrido were the first continental players allowed into the team which from then represented all of Europe. He represented Europe in nine editions of the Ryder Cup, eight as a player and once as the Captain. In 1983 the US team won by only one point at home, and in 1985 Europe won after a 28 year of drought. It was in 1987 at Muirfield Village when they beat the Americans on their home soil, that Captain Tony Jacklin paired Seve with José María Olazabal creating probably the best pairing in golf history. Europe retained the Trophy 1989 and it has been a keenly fought event ever since. In 1995 Seve played his last Ryder Cup at Oak Hill, and in 1997 he realised one of his dreams when the Ryder Cup was held for the first time outside British Isles in Valderrama, in Spain where he captained the winning team. Seve was responsible for popularising the game of golf in Spain and in Continental Europe. His company Amen Corner, started in 1986, promoted golf by organising over 50 international European Tour Events in Spain including the Spanish Open.
The 1984 British Open was held at St. Andrews, the iconic and historic Home of Golf. Seve won showing all his charisma and passion, especially on the last hole when after holing a 6 meter putt for a birdie, he performed his now famous fist punching victory ritual that was to become the iconic moment in his career and one of the most famous pictures in golf. That picture has become the Seve Ballesteros Foundation’s logo. His third British Open came in 1988 at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, the venue of the first Claret Jug win in 1979. 53

TRAVEL REPORT
Córdoba A visit to Córdoba is a rare opportunity to see the breath taking results when Spanish, Islamic, and Ancient Roman architecture combines. With some of the highest temperatures in Spain, it's a great spring destination.
HISTORY
Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain, and the capital of the province of Córdoba. It was a Roman settlement, taken over by the Visigoths, followed by the Umayyad Caliphate in the eighth century. It became the capital of a Muslim emirate, and then the Caliphate of Córdoba, which encompassed most of the Iberian Peninsula. During this period, it became a centre of education and learning, and by the 10th century had grown to be the largest city in Europe.[8] It was recaptured by Christian forces in 1236, during the Reconquista. Today, Córdoba is still home to many notable pieces of Moorish architecture such as the Mezquita, which was named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984 and is now a Cathedral. The UNESCO status has since been expanded to encompass the whole historic centre of Córdoba. Much of this architecture, such as the Alcázar and the Roman bridge has been reworked or reconstructed by the city's successive inhabitants.
Alcázar of Córdoba A pretty Spanish castle offering wonderfully manicured gardens with shimmering ponds and a Moorish bathhouse. Lovely on a warm day, you can tour the grounds and palace for 4.50€. Roman bridge of Córdoba Built in the early 1st century BC, this bridge across the Guadalquivir river is an impressive testament to Roman engineering. Walk across, or get a good view from the south bank. Palacio de la Merced This ornate baroque building is our final sightseeing pick, but we've perhaps left the best for last. It's a real architectural gem, worth a wander around. Don't miss the gardens.
Córdoba has the highest summer temperatures in Spain and Europe, with average high temperatures around 37 °C (99 °F) in July and August.
Things to See
Mosque Cathedral of Córdoba This is Córdoba's most famous sightseeing spot, so arrive early to avoid the crowds. Once inside the huge spectacle, the many-arched interior is awe inspiring. 56

Novak Djokovic and Angelique Kerber are the defending champions in the single competitions. The main tournament is due to begin on Monday 1st July, 2019 and finish on Sunday 14th July 2019 and is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is included in the 2019 ATP Tour and the 2019 WTA Tour calendars under the Grand Slam category. The tournament will consist of men's (singles and doubles), women's (singles and doubles), mixed doubles, boys (under 18 – singles and doubles) and girls (under 18 – singles and doubles), which is also a part of the Grade A category of tournaments for under 18, and singles & doubles events for men's and women's wheelchair tennis players as part of the UNIQLO Tour under the Grand Slam category, also hosting singles and doubles events for wheelchair quad tennis for the first time. It will also be the first version of the tournament to feature a tie break at 12 all in the final set. This will also be the first tournament that will consist of ladies' singles match changed with 104 direct entrant players, 16 qualifiers and still 8 wild cards, the ladies' qualifying match to be increased with 128 players, with the gentlemen's qualifying match remains in 128 players as well, and the elimination of doubles qualifying matches.
60
The tournament is played only on grass courts; main draw matches will be played at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon. Qualifying matches would've been played, from Monday 24th June to Thursday 27th June 2019 at the Bank of England Sports Ground, Roehampton, with the draw for the tournament taking place on the 28th June. The Tennis Sub-Committee also met to decide the wild card entries on 17th June. Wild cards are players whose world ranking is not high enough to qualify automatically for The Championships but who are accepted into the main Championships draw at the discretion of the Committee. Wild cards are usually offered on the basis of past performance at Wimbledon or to increase British interest. Wild cards have been allocated since 1977 and from 2003 some singles wild cards have been determined by competition. The only wild card to win the gentlemen's singles title was Goran Ivanisevic in 2001. No wild card has won the ladies' singles.

PETS/ANIMALS local wildlife & animal care in Spain
keep your
POOCH cool We all love spending the long, sunny days of summer outdoors with our furry companions, but being overeager in hot weather can spell danger. To prevent your pet from overheating, take these simple precautions provided by the experts: Pets can get dehydrated quickly, so give them plenty of fresh, clean water when it’s hot or humid outdoors. Make sure your pets have a shady place to get out of the sun, be careful not to over-exercise them, and keep them indoors when it’s extremely hot. Know the symptoms of overheating in pets, which include excessive panting or difficulty breathing, increased heart and respiratory rate, drooling, mild weakness, stupor or even collapse. Symptoms can also include seizures, bloody diarrhea and vomit along with an elevated body temperature of over 40 deg Celcius. Animals with flat faces, like Pugs and Persian cats, are more susceptible to heat stroke since they cannot pant as effectively. These pets, along with the elderly, the overweight, and those with heart or lung diseases, should be kept cool in air-conditioned rooms as much as possible. Never leave your animals alone in a parked vehicle. Not only can it lead to fatal heat stroke, it is illegal in several states! Do not leave pets unsupervised around a pool—not all dogs are good swimmers. Introduce your pets to water gradually and make sure they wear flotation devices when on boats. Rinse your dog off after swimming to remove chlorine or salt from his fur, and try to keep your dog from drinking pool water, which contains chlorine and other chemicals. 62
Open, unscreened windows pose a real danger to pets, who often fall out of them. Keep all unscreened windows or doors in your home closed, and make sure adjustable screens are tightly secured. Feel free to trim longer hair on your dog, but never shave your dog: The layers of dogs’ coats protect them from overheating and sunburn. Brushing cats more often than usual can prevent problems caused by excessive heat. And be sure that any sunscreen or insect repellent product you use on your pets is labeled specifically for use on animals. When the temperature is very high, don’t let your dog linger on hot tarmac. Being so close to the ground, your pooch’s body can heat up quickly, and sensitive paw pads can burn. Keep walks during these times to a minimum.

SUMMER albums
Pop music is the perfect soundtrack for all types of summer fun from backyard BBQs to days at the beach. This is a list of 10 albums (released at summer time) to guarantee a summer of great music, plus a few more modern albums of dance music for the younger generation. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Beatles, 1967)
Stand! (Sly and the Family Stone, 1969)
This deserves to be considered the first truly memorable summer pop album. Released June 1st, it was an indispensable part of the soundtrack for the Summer of Love. Winner of the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, the first rock album to do so, this album boosted rock music to be considered a true art form.
By late spring 1969, this ground-breaking funk found its way to the top of the pop charts with the #1 smash anthem "Everyday People." Stand! became the group's breakthrough hit album with more uplifting anthems like "I Want To Take You Higher" and "Sing a Simple Song".
Exile on Main Street (Rolling Stones, 1972)
Endless Summer (Beach Boys, 1974)
The Rolling Stones entered the summer of 1972 with their sprawling, gritty double album Exile on Main Street. Many consider it the band's artistic peak. A heady blend of sex, drugs, and rock and roll, the album sounded perfect blasting loud all summer long. Included is the top 10 pop hit "Tumbling Dice."
This double album compilation deserves significant credit for helping cement the Beach Boys' place in pop history. Released in June 1974 in the wake of the nostalgia wave generated by the film and the hit TV show Happy Days, the album is a collection of the band's classic 60s hits celebrating surfing, summer and sun.
64
Exodus (Bob Marley and the Wailers, 1977)
Bat Out of Hell (Meat Loaf, 1977)
Reggae master Bob Marley and his group the Wailers broke into the top 10 of the US album chart with Rastaman Vibration, but it's the follow-up Exodus that many consider the group's artistic masterpiece. Among the classic tracks are "Jamming" and "Three Little Birds."
The centrepiece of this rock classic from Meat Loaf & songwriter Jim Steinman is the anthem of the hellish aftermath of summer love "Paradise By the Dashboard Light." Although it only peaked at #14 on the album chart, over time the reputation grew and Bat Out of Hell is now one of the biggest selling albums of all time.
Bad Girls (Donna Summer, 1979)
Back In Black (AC/DC, 1980)
The double album Bad Girls was released at the end of April 1979 with Donna Summer reigning as the Queen of Disco and arguably the Queen of Pop as well. The blend of rock and disco is evocative of hot summer nights. The singles "Hot Stuff" and "Bad Girls" both topped the pop charts.
With AC/DC reeling from the untimely death of their first lead vocalist Bon Scott, a new album was completed with new lead vocalist Brian Johnson. Spearheaded by the singalong party classic "You Shook Me All Night Long," the new album made the group superstars and is one of the top rock classics of all time.
Rio (Duran Duran, 1982)
Purple Rain (Prince and the Revolution, 1984)
The music video for the song "Rio" by Duran Duran evokes summer fun for the young and wealthy. It was filmed on a yacht off the coast of the Caribbean island Antigua. The entire album is a breezy classic which also includes the group's breakthrough hit "Hungry Like the Wolf" and the ballad "Save a Prayer."
Prince's movie soundtrack for Purple Rain was one of the leading lights of a rich crop of legendary pop music flooding radio airwaves in the summer of 1984. The landmark single "When Doves Cry" introduced the upcoming album when released in May. It spent much of the summer at #1 on the pop charts.
Ti Amo (Phoenix, 2016)
Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1 (Calvin Harris, 2017)
English Riviera (Metronomy, 2008)
Released in 2016, the French group’s sixth album was inspired by what they describe as their “European, Latin roots, a fantasized version of Italy” and celebrates all the good things in life like lust, prosecco, gelato and formaggio.
The Scottish producer spurned big EDM drops for belly flops on this guest-packed, throwback album of soul-infused pop.
Joe Mount’s pop troupe opted for this nation’s fine shores for inspiration – the ‘The Bay’s music video was filmed in their native Torquay.
Why’s it so beach-ready? ‘Slide’ & ‘Feels’ were Sound Of The Summer 2017™ contestants – and rightly so, it was blaring outside of every beach cafe on the continent.
Why’s it so beach-ready? Although a major step up from 2008’s ‘Nights Out’, the group’s expanded production retained the naive charm of Britain’s slightly shit beaches.

ESPADEVIDA
A unique lifestyle design with promising global aspirations. This distinguished Co-housing PLUS lifestyle, provides its residents of luxury and comfort in an affordable and flexible manner. Traditional co-housing establishments in the past, have been very private, complicated, time-consuming and expensive projects. The original co-housing idea is often born between a group of friends, who have the mutual desire to move into a bigger living environment, while preferably –and if their budget allows- enjoying the use of shared areas, such as a pool, or library – for example. Planning and arranging a joint-community such as this, requires a lot of time, funding and care. This is exactly what makes co-housing such an intensive and demanding concept, especially when it comes to establishing a new co-housing neighbourhood. Compared to those traditional Co-housing establishments, ESPADEVIDA (Co-housing PLUS) works with a much more alternative, time-saving and money effective method. Think of us as a catalyst within the process of sculpting your own neighbourhood.
These flexible fees and the availability of privacy and socialisation will lay out the foundations of a healthy community and make sure every individual need of its residents, is taken into consideration. If ESPADEVIDA is not fit to be a part of your future prospects yet, there is no need to cut ties with the ESPADEVIDA idea of a Co-housing PLUS lifestyle, one that adapts and evolves indefinitely in relation to its residents. ESPADEVIDA could be a glance at your far future and only you can decide when and where you would like that future to begin. Our team understands that life can sometimes capture you in between two worlds. Whether you are hesitant towards the future, paused by the past or maybe you are simply waiting for the right time – for the right moment to sell your current house, for example, Our innovative suggestions regarding the following options can really help. Wether you are purchasing, investing, long-term-renting or renting-to-buy, we are making this lifestyle available to a much more extensive public. ESPADEVIDA – created by you, for you.
Based on the traditional concept of co-housing, ESPADEVIDA arranges the hardware and structures for you, in advance. This means that the necessary expenses and preparations in order to create a new ESPADEVIDA living environment, are our responsibility. In this way, a co-housing lifestyle becomes a lot easier to achieve, as well as available to a much larger public. What also makes ESPADEVIDA stand out prominently from the “usual” living spaces, is the flexibility. For example, if you prefer to participate in a more secluded form of this community-lifestyle, you’re free to purely make use of the leisure and communal areas, without actively joining every community meeting, or other neighbourhood undertakings – such as neighbourly meals or festivities. This also means, that there are no set community fees in advance. The community fees will entirely depend on your own usage within the community, and you will only compensate for whatever services you choose to make use of.
For more information about this unique way of living, attend any of our Round Table meetings for the summer months: July 18th – August 22nd & September 19th – all hosted at Bar Solare in Turre from 17:00 onwards. www.espadevida.com/news for more information.
