Spotlight Vol. 2, No. 3

Summer in the Hamptons is in full swing, and the Fourth of July holiday is here! Unbelievable, right? I feel like we always complain about how fast summer goes, but it’s true, and it seems to go faster every year. Needless to say, it’s the most fun month in the Hamptons, and I’m so excited for all that’s in store. And, most importantly, for you all to read the biggest issue of Spotlight to date!

For this special milestone, it only felt natural to celebrate something that’s so much a part of our Hamptons culture—fashion. So I’m pleased to share with you our Summer Fashion Special!

SPARKING GREAT

style

you want. There is no “dress code.” Some go beachy chic; others love staying lax and comfy in shorts and a T-shirt. Style is so subjective, and I love seeing how everyone dresses along the East End. I’m a naturally dressed-up person who loves a good pair of heels and a colorful bag. But I also love just kicking back in a bathing suit at Cooper’s Beach with a sun hat and sunnies. Anything goes in the Hamptons!

Other fun features in this issue you should check out: our designer spotlight series, highlighting the creatives who are making major waves right now; pics from our epic Memorial Day weekend kickoff bash on page 14 (we’re still reliving that magical night!); and the one and only Fran Drescher. Plus, the latest from our expert Spotters, and more.

This issue is a celebration of the best in designers, brands, influencers, and beyond—those who make the Hamptons one of the most stylish summer locales on the planet. And let’s not forget the stylists. Most importantly, the stylist who has made such a huge impact on the fashion industry—our cover star, Rachel Zoe.

How can we think of fashion without thinking of Rachel? The original stylistturned-entrepreneur (and so much more) makes it a point to summer on the East End

from Los Angeles, where she’s based. She styled herself for our cover shoot in stunning Oscar de la Renta pieces that only she could pull off. It was a pleasure to witness her talent firsthand. My team and I left truly inspired when we photographed and got to spend the morning with Rachel. Make sure to read our exclusive interview on page 32. In it, she explains why living life in style is always a bonus!

One of the reasons I love the Hamptons so much is you can literally dress however

Thanks to my talented team and the advertisers who continue to bring major sparks to our pages. Make sure to tag us on Instagram with a pic of you reading the new issue. We love to see it. Catch you around town!

CATCHING UP WITH PATTY OAKLEY + BRIAN LEICHT OF SAUNDERS & ASSOCIATES

How did you two link up?

Brian Leicht: So many times people form solid working relationships by being at the right place at the right time. That is what happened to the Oakley-Leicht Team. Both of us found our way to Saunders in Southampton Village after spending time at other firms. When I joined, I was assigned a desk next to Patty. We became friendly and at some point our business just got so busy that we started to help each other with customer and client appointments. We’re now heading into our sixth year as a team, and we wouldn’t want to have our business model any other way. What is your realtor’s model?

Patty Oakley: To represent our clients and customers to the best of our ability. We enjoy connecting with them on a personal level to get to know who they are and how we can help them find what they need. We believe the backbone of any successful business is to be knowledgeable, honest, ethical, and professional.

Patty, as an East End native, how would you describe the evolution of the Hamptons over the years?

Oakley: So much has changed over the years in the Hamptons. As the technology world has evolved, so has life Out East. Doing business from home or commuting a couple days a week to an office has opened up a lifestyle that was thought to be impossible for many. This luxurious destination is no longer just a summer hot spot; it’s a year-round place that has drawn in such a diversified population from all over the world.

Brian, what key steps should a buyer take once they find their Hamptons dream home?

Leicht: The next steps can be some of the most important in securing a house for our clients. Depending on the situation, the process may need to happen quickly. So we need to make sure we have everything in order as quickly as possible. The price, terms, and conditions need to be negotiated. We are strong negotiators. Choosing an appropriate attorney that has knowledge about local laws and codes is crucial. Home inspections need to be performed to determine the true condition and safety of their purchase. Finalizing a contract so that it’s signable can be hard at times, but being able to communicate and work with all involved leads us to victory!

BUY THIS DE BEERS ENCHANTED LOTUS PENDANT IN YELLOW GOLD AND MOTHER-OF-PEARL

This 18K yellow gold and diamond necklace combines the symbolism of the lotus flower with the iridescence of yellow mother of pearl. The lotus motif is composed around the prong-set round brilliant diamond at its center, encircled by a halo and petals in micropavé diamonds. This elegant arrangement sits atop yellow mother of pearl, which is believed to be a protective stone. On its reverse side, the pendant bears a single round brilliant diamond for a modern and simple alternative look. The flower motif is 14.5 mm wide, and suspends from a 45.0 cm chain, with a sizing loop at 42.0 cm. All the materials within this piece, including the diamonds totaling 0.28 carats, are ethically sourced and set by hand. $3,650, DeBeers.com

AT HOME WITH TIM DAVIS

Real Estate Power Broker at The Corcoran Group

Tim, the Hamptons season is in full swing. Any new updates on the buyer’s market?

We remain quite active with sales as some new inventory has come to market in the past 30 to 45 days.

What’s the rental market been like this season?

The rental market started out strong, then cooled off considerably. Tenant pools are making offers for partial season periods, and some owners are adjusting their pricing.

What’s the No. 1 question buyers are asking you?

DIG IN…

to Scott’s Protein Balls, a healthy protein snack created by co-founder and CFO Scott Levine for his wife, Lori, who, after a battle with breast cancer, was looking for a clean snack that was healthy and tasted great. The indulgent refrigerated 100 percent plant-based protein balls are allergen-friendly, dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, nonGMO, nutrient-dense, and made with no preservatives. They’re available in seven flavors, including peanut butter cacao, mint chocolate chip, and brownie batter. $17 for 10 protein balls, scottsproteinballs.com

Given my 43-year career in the Hamptons real estate market, they inquire about historic trends and how this market relates.

As a resident of the East End for decades, what makes the Hamptons so special during July 4th weekend?

For me, the Fourth of July weekend is focused on time with my family and especially my grandchildren. It’s about the Main Street parade, beach, boat, pool, fireworks, and good food made with local produce. Go-to spot for watching the Hamptons fireworks?

I’m fortunate enough to live in a beautiful location along the bay and can see 10 to 15 displays throughout the evening when it turns dark.

We know—you’re either obsessed with TikTok (guilty as charged) or you hate to love it! Or love to hate it. Whichever way you feel, there are still quite a few TikTok content creators that provide some great style points, as well as simply pure entertainment. Here’s who we’re following!

DON’T BE DUPED BY FASHION DUPES!

Jones, is back to expose the dark side of fashion knockoffs.

It’s 2023. Inflation is making it hard to afford basic necessities. And somehow those influencers you follow have Loewe jeans. And a Prada tank. And a Chanel bag. And Dior sunglasses. Do they have a hefty dividend stock portfolio that funds their designer shopping addiction, or could it all be…fake?

Designer dupes are nothing new. Remember in Season 3 of Sex and the City when Samantha buys a fake Fendi bag on the girls’ trip to Los Angeles? Or on Broad City how Ilana and her mom go on a whole adventure to get fake bags?

People have done it for ages. My own mom got me a fake Goyard in high school; her friend Peggy had a connect! But back then you had to get your fakes in person. You made a day of it. Peggy brought snacks! Now, all people have to do is message someone on WhatsApp and they’re shipped over from China.

In researching this article, I got connected with one of these Chinese vendors. For research His name? The Cobbler. And boy, did he have loot. Any dream item I could think of, he had a version for less than $100. I was meant to be doing research, but suddenly I was foaming at the mouth, imagining a life dripping in designerwear. I understood why everyone was obsessed with buying fake bags!

However, as I added his info into PayPal for a “Fendi’’ baguette, I heard the old adage in my head, “If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.” So I paused my transaction and decided to do a little sleuthing into the production of these purchases.

As it turns out, all the glamour I was looking forward to with my fake Fendi was being delivered

with toxic materials/ chemicals via child labor and theft.

Let’s start with the kids. Yep, children are making these replicated goods. Most dupes are shipped from countries with lax labor laws, hence the long shipping times and ability to price them so low while still making a profit. So, by buying fake, you’re directly supporting the exploitation of children and other vulnerable workers. Also, it should come as no surprise that the workplace practices are brutal. There are many dangerous chemicals in their production, and they can harm you, too! The American Apparel & Footwear Association conducted a study testing the chemicals in 47 counterfeit items and found a whopping 36 percent of them had high levels of chemicals that are considered major health concerns in the U.S. Arsenic, lead, phthalates, and cadmium were all present; these chemicals can cause liver and kidney issues, lead to cancer, and even cause birth defects if absorbed by a pregnant woman. A single accessory showed 600 times over the exposure limit of cadmium, a toxic heavy metal used for coloring.

Oh, and to make things worse, they’re straight up stealing designs from design teams at fashion houses. This completely undermines the hard work and creativity of the original

designers and stifles innovation. Over time, this discourages designers from producing unique designs because there are people waiting to steal them.

So while the allure of affordable fashion dupes is incredibly tempting and almost sucked me in, as consumers it’s crucial to look behind the curtain and recognize why this industry is thriving and why the goods are so inexpensive. It’s an unregulated market full of unethical practices that exploit the most vulnerable people in society, use harsh chemicals that are otherwise illegal, and steal from the people who created them in the first place.

Also, as a financial pop star, I live by the phrase “Don’t go broke trying to look rich.” It’s low integrity to wear fake designer; you’re presenting a false version of yourself to the world. Part

of wearing a designer good is the pride in being able to afford it. You’re skipping a step and getting immediate satisfaction but no value or real pride. Instead, you have blood and chemicals on your hands.

If you decide you want a luxury item, make a plan for it! Look at your budget and see where you can cut costs and put some cash away to treat yourself. Then, when you’re ready to buy, go to the store and get the whole experience! Drink the free Champagne at the Dior showroom. Have the salesperson tell you why your bag is so special. Enjoy the experience of buying a luxury item, instead of buying it on a counterfeit website. I bought my first Chanel bag in Paris last year and it was the most fun afternoon ever. I love the bag—and the memory.

Then, take care of your item; if you tire of it, bring it to a verified reseller. Chances are you’ll make a pretty penny for an authentic luxury item. But don’t think you can take your fake and try to trick them. Resellers are trained to know what’s real.

Or just buy something vintage that no one else will have. Who says something has to be designer to be chic? We need to remember that style transcends labels and price tags. You don’t need to have high-luxury items to be the best-dressed person in the room. You need confidence, and I can tell you that buying everything you think is “cool” will not deliver in that arena. MONTAUK SHOPPING GUIDE

of the world.”

The best part about Montauk is being in Montauk and not leaving. And really, you don’t have to; the town is filled with great shops, from clothing to housewares and everything in between.

This summer, I curated The Surf Lodge’s on-site boutique with several of my favorite ready-to-wear, accessory, and jewelry brands. I partnered with

native, the iconic Cynthia Rowley. Additionally, in honor of Surf Lodge’s 15th anniversary, I collaborated with Sydney Evan to create two diamond necklaces that say “Surf” and “Montauk,” which can also be found at our boutique. My goal was to design a space that had a little bit of everything; whether you need a dress for the evening, sunglasses for the beach, or a gift for the host, we have it.

If so, the Montauk General Store is an absolute must! It has incredible gift baskets, the wine and cheese one being my go-to. Montauk is all about making memories, and if you want a souvenir to remember your time Out East, head over to Whalebone. They silk-screen T-shirts on-site and offer a variety of colors and styles, and their fabrics are made from recycled cotton. FROM SLUGGISH TO SUPERCHARGED

The only thing worse than not having time to work out is having a free window and not wanting to move. Here, our resident fitness expert Hilary Hoffman gives you all the inspo you need to make your workout happen.

On the days when we have no time, it’s not for lack of discipline or commitment that we don’t get movement in. Rather, it’s a clear reflection of our priorities. Personal and professional commitments come first. Let me give two examples:

Scenario 1: It’s 7 p.m. on a Tuesday and your boss asks you to revise a financial model ahead of a deal closing the next day.

Scenario 2: It’s 10 a.m. on a Thursday and middrive to the gym the school nurse calls to inform you that your 6-year-old child is running a fever.

In neither circumstance are you going to say, “Roger. I just gotta get in a quick run and then I’ll be back on the desk” or “Sorry, Mommy has Pilates/Daddy has to lift.” Instead, you’re canceling your workout and committing to an evening of Excel spreadsheets or you’re making a U-turn and scheduling an emergency doctor’s appointment. Sure, you care about making healthy choices, but you care about your career and family more. And that’s okay.

When I was working at Goldman Sachs, I can’t count the number of times when my plan to workout was interrupted by an impromptu client dinner or a time-sensitive request. And

I didn’t hide my frustration well; while I was saying “yes” to these asks, I did it through gritted teeth and mild rage. But despite these emotions, I knew I was making the right call.

So, what’s worse than having no time to workout? It’s having the time and not wanting to. While there is nothing better than a canceled meeting at the end of the day, coming home early to newfound time can fill us with more guilt than motivation. We know we should move. We know we should take advantage of this opportunity. But despite “knowing” all this, the hardest thing to flex when we’re tired is accountability.

When I’m in this predicament, these are the three tricks I use to jump-start my workout:

1. Make mental notes when you have the itch to workout. I did this when I had my desk job. It would typically happen around 10:30 or 11 a.m. and I would say to myself, “Remember this moment and use it as fuel the next time it’s 7 p.m. and you find the time to move. Your 11 a.m. self would be overjoyed at the thought of going for a run right now.”

2. Rely on discipline over motivation.

We’ve all been encouraged to rely

on discipline over motivation when mustering up the will to workout. I completely agree with this, but author Jim Rohn frames it a little differently: “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.” These words help shift my dialogue from “I should workout” to “I will workout” as I’m reminded that I can only achieve my goals through effort.

3. Enter, SOTO Method. I developed my SOTO workout program for this exact moment— when energy is low, when motivation is waning, but the time is there for the taking. SOTO is there to inspire your willingness to move when an unsuspecting free five, 15, or 40 minutes present themselves. T

HOW YOUR STYLE ATTRACTS YOUR PARTNER

Your summer wardrobe can say a lot about you, and even play a major role in attracting your future love. To explain it all, our resident dating expert is back with her personal take on the topic.

Happy July, Spotlight fam! This month we’re talking about one of my favorite subjects. Well, two of them. Dating, and style. I must admit, while dating and I go way back, style is more of a new friend that I’ve gotten close with in the past few years. Being in my thirties, I finally figured out my personal style—what looks good on my body and not just on a model’s. I also realized that styling and dating have a lot to do with each other. Our sense of style is a huge factor in attracting the right people into our lives, especially in the romantic sense. I’m frequently asked questions like, “What’s the right first date outfit?” Or “Is a bikini photo on my dating profile trying too hard?” After careful consideration, here are my top four tips for how to attract the best partner based on your unique style.

1. Dress for Comfort. We’ve all been that girl on a date who tried so hard to squeeze into a mini skirt because we thought it gave us more sex appeal and then the entire date, we’re pulling down our skirt and feeling so uncomfortable. Or the guy who did our best to squeeze into that tight shirt showing off our muscles, only to realize it’s impossible to consume food while wearing it. Being

uncomfortable is palpable to your date, and when you feel good in what you wear, it creates a more relaxed environment in which you can actually focus on each other and connect.

2. Don’t Try Too Hard. Just because you have it, doesn’t in fact mean you need to flaunt it!

I’ve learned that less is more, and most of my dates where I wore a turtleneck were much

more successful than the ones where I dressed to the nines. Try going on a date post workout class. It shows that you’re busy, you have hobbies, and you’re not dropping everything for a person you don’t really know yet.

3. Wear What Makes You Feel Most Confident. Don’t let your friends make fun of you because you have your go-to first date outfit. If it ain’t broke, no need

to fix it. If there’s an outfit that you consistently feel confident in, that shows off your features in all the right ways, then wear it! Nothing says you’re confident more than knowing what you look good in and rocking it.

4. Wear the Clothes, Don’t Let the Clothes Wear You. If anyone is guilty of this, it’s me. My body has changed a lot since I was 21, yet I still love to pretend I’m a smaller size than I am and get mad at my clothes for not cooperating. Why should we get mad at our clothes when they’re the ones that are supposed to work for us? We’re paying for them, not the other way around. When we let the clothes wear us, it shows that we’re not in tune with our style.

At the end of the day, the right partner will be attracted to your ability to represent yourself in a way that makes you feel good. Because when you feel good, you look good. And don’t forget, especially when going out on dates, you’re never fully dressed without a smile!

When we think style, we think Rachel Zoe. The original celebrity stylist–turned–businesswoman and entrepreneur demonstrates that while style is all about the visual and what we wear, it’s also something that comes from within. With her many accomplishments, Zoe has left her fashion footprint on the East End—and the world. Now, she’s back in the Hamptons for the summer and sharing with Spotlight how she’s taking her brand to new heights.

We can relate! How would you describe your summer Hamptons style? My summer uniform in the Hamptons is always a flowy caftan in bright colors and fun patterns. I tend to live in vintage, but new Missoni, Etro, Saint Laurent, Altuzarra, and Johanna Ortiz are just a few of my favorite brands during the summer. I always pair these with a wedge, a chunky necklace, earrings, and big sunnies. You’re a stylist, a designer, a podcast host, an entrepreneur, and an author. What’s exciting you most right now in your career?

There are a few things I’m working on that are exciting me right now. My podcast, “Climbing in Heels,” choosing new curations each season for Curateur, and all the new expansions of my brand with different partners in multiple categories, and potential TV partners. Is there anything that’s still on your professional bucket list?

Rachel, we’re so excited that you’re our July 4th cover star! Why do you choose to summer Out East each year?

IS

The Hamptons is home for me in the summer. Since I was born, my parents started taking me, and I’ve spent the majority of every summer of my life here since. When I lived in NYC, it was a second home, and even though we’re now out in Los Angeles, we still continue to spend our summer months here with our family. The greatest memories of my life are in the Hamptons with my closest friends and family. What does a typical July 4th weekend look like for you?

While I’m reminded that I’ve achieved certain things throughout my career, complacency is not something I believe in and I’m always looking to improve, build, and expand the Rachel Zoe brand to its furthest potential. You were one of the first celebrity stylists. What do you think of the current state of celebrity styling?

FASHION

The Fourth of July is always busy for me because I celebrate the birthdays of my mom, dad, and sister. I’m a Virgo in a family of Cancers. I put it on myself to always plan the parties and dinners, and get special gifts. This weekend is typically right after we arrive, so it’s about trying to spend quality time with friends, go on a boat, or sit on the beach and watch fireworks with my boys. What gives you fireworks?

Honestly, a peaceful day, where I’m not overloaded with obligations and I can spend time with my kids. Or an epic beach day that turns into night.

Since the pandemic, nearly every major designer brand has opened their doors Out East. What do you think of this shift in the Hamptons fashion scene?

I have contradicting feelings on this. I’m so happy to see some of my favorite designers in proximity and easily accessible to the community, but on the other hand I’ve always loved the beachy feeling of all the small boutiques that I’ve been going to for so many years.

That’s a complex question. There are several stylists I call friends that I’ve enjoyed watching their success reach new levels. I’ve watched some peers that I’ve known from the beginning continue to soar. That said, as a result of social media, I think sometimes the lines get blurred between the talent and the stylist. And with that said, I’ve seen there is without question tremendous support [from celebrities] to advocate for their stylist, which was something that I rarely experienced in my career.

Why did you decide to pause that part of your career?

I needed to pause from the daily grind of styling for multiple reasons. I always said that I would be a stylist as long as I continued to love it. I started to wake up every day and not remember why I loved it. That came at a time where I had been betrayed and couldn’t trust the people that I needed to trust to help me execute my job the way I needed to. Simultaneously, I was launching my clothing collection and multiple other parts of my business that needed my time and attention, along with two young children. I thought it would be a good time to step away, reset, and remember why I love it in the first place. Would you ever go back to styling?

After a several-year-long pause from styling, it’s only this past year that I’ve started to feel ready to go back

to styling, but only with one or two clients who would enjoy the fashion ride with me. I’ve started to feel the fire for it again. Do you remember the moment where you first fell in love with fashion?

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved and been drawn to beautiful women with amazing fashion sense. Whether in the Hamptons or in Europe, I would see women in caftans; they were tan, arms filled with incredible gold jewelry. As soon as I started traveling and noticing these women, I started looking at Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar and would melt over the pages of magazines. From that point on, I was always the most overdressed and never wore what everyone else wore. I no doubt was just attracted to whatever was beautiful and was drawn to it like a magnet. What’s your secret to balancing your career and being a wife and mom?

The juggle and the struggle is real, as any working mother would tell you. I try to tackle each day with a “winging it” approach. I try to maintain a calm and positivity around my children and focus on being present. I try to get the majority of work done before they finish

school, so I can focus on being Mom when they come home. You mentioned your podcast, “Climbing in Heels.” It’s one of our faves! Who is your dream podcast guest?

The queen. Oprah all the way! Because your podcast focuses on female powerhouses, who are the women who inspire you most in your life?

From a young age, my mother and sister have been the two who inspire me the most. I’ve admired my mother for her fearlessness with her voice. My sister is a single working mom who raised two extraordinary kids. Other strong female figures for me: Oprah, from the minute I started watching her; she is everything. Iman has been a friend and mentor throughout my entire career who inspires me in so many ways. I was also

inspired by Princess Diana, who used her position of power in such a new way that it was so clear she was a voice for the people and for good. What are your top tips for female entrepreneurs trying to succeed in their careers? Don’t let age trip you up. Don’t put up roadblocks for yourself; as women, we do that a lot. We are our own worst enemies. It’s never too late to start a career, and it’s never too late to pivot your career. Once you’re over the age of 30, people get nervous and think they need to know exactly what they want to be doing. Sometimes, I think it’s your second or third act that’s the real winner and where you ultimately end up. August will mark your 25th anniversary with your husband, Rodger. What’s the key to your marriage?

The secret is accepting each other’s everything. Rodger and I are different in so many ways; we approach some aspects of our life drastically different, but at the core we share the same values and the same perspectives on what matters in life, how we raise our children. We agree on all the big things. I’m happiest in a ball gown, and he’s happiest in a Grateful Dead T-shirt. The secret, if I had to say one thing, is we have an unbreakable trust in each other, and that’s something that is not a given and something we don’t take for granted. Having independence and codependence is extremely important. Tell us about Curateur and what inspired this concept! Ever since I stopped styling, I’ve always found a way to style and curate looks for friends and family. When I started Curateur, it was truly a way for me to continue to curate every aspect of a woman’s life. From accessories to need-to-know lifestyle and wellness brands, I wanted to put the best of the best in front of my audience and

help them feel confident and stylish in all aspects of their life. How are you activating Curateur Out East this summer?

Each year, we activate Curateur Out East through a beautiful seated supper and summer celebration. We highlight some of our amazing partnerships that we work with all year long. It’s truly one of my favorite nights of the summer and such a special time to bring together my community out in the Hamptons during the summer. This year, we’re having it at the beautiful Wölffer Estate Vineyard, co-hosted by my good friend Joey Wölffer, and I couldn’t be more excited! What are your favorite Hamptons spots?

Duryea’s and Crow’s Nest in Montauk, Le Bilboquet and Tutto il Giorno in Sag Harbor. My favorite beaches to go with my boys are Egypt Lane and Georgica Beach.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

That I’m a homebody and an introvert who built a career on being an extrovert. I love people, my friends, and I feel grateful for those in my life, but given the choice I will always choose watching a movie with my boys on the couch than a night out. I think that’s a result of spending 15 years traveling, working 24/7, and being all over the world. Who are your favorite living fashion designers and fashion influencers?

Giambattista Valli, Valentino, Tom Ford, and Marc Jacobs are my favorite designers right now. My favorite fashion influencers would have to be Carine Roitfeld, Chiara Ferragni, Giovanna Battaglia, and Anna Dello Russo.

What’s your go-to pair of heels?

Valentino platforms in every color imaginable. Black, gold, and nude are always my go-to. What’s next for you?

Continuing to work on all my companies and brands, Curateur, my podcast, Rachel Zoe Ventures, my license partnerships, and a potential TV opportunity down the line! T

S P O T L I G H T

SALLY LAPOINTE LAPOINTE Designer to the Stars

Sally, it’s been more than a decade since you launched your namesake brand. How has LaPointe evolved during that time?

In the beginning of my career, someone told me that I should know “it takes 10 years to establish a fashion brand.” Naively, I didn’t believe that, but it’s very much the truth. My brand has evolved so much over the years, but still has the same DNA at its core. Learning the ins and outs of the business takes time, and like any art form your craft just gets clearer and more refined over time. Who was the first celebrity to discover your brand? Lady Gaga. I launched my brand with a runway show in 2011 and the following day she requested one of the dresses that went down the runway. It was exciting.

In just this year alone, Oprah, Jennifer Lopez, and Jill Biden have been spotted in your brand. What’s it like for you seeing someone wear your designs? It never gets old; it’s always an amazing feeling. Seeing women who inspire me wearing my pieces is the ultimate reward.

Women you dress vary in age and body type. Is that important to you? This has been a huge area of satisfaction for me, seeing that my brand has so much range. All walks of life wear my pieces, and it just doesn’t get any better than that. I think it speaks to the longevity of the brand I’ve built.

How did you first discover your passion

I actually grew up painting, but it wasn’t until I was at RISD that I discovered fashion. Describe your design aesthetic. Color-driven statement dressing.

What’s your proudest moment as a designer? Going to Oprah’s house and fitting her for a custom look when she hosted the Adele comeback concert for TV. We even sat and had some food and chatted after the fitting. We talked about never giving up, and it was just an amazing moment, woman to woman.

Your IG bio says you’re “not afraid to make a statement, own who you are.” What are three words to describe you? Passionate, empowered, and authentic.

TANYA TAYLOR

Tanya, tell us about your summer collection and the inspo behind it! The collection is a balance of subtle femininity, but with a bold color palette of limes and guava. I love designing for how I want our customer to wear our collection; I created pieces that are relaxed, chic, and energizing, a mix of how life looks in the summer.

Is there anyone on your bucket list left to design for? Beyoncé.

How would you describe your idea of perfect summer style? Uncomplicated chic outfits that allow you to love the season and what you’re doing. I love a bare midi dress with chunky sandals, so I can run after my kids but also go for drinks at the beach. What have been some of your proudest accomplishments in your more than 10 years of owning your namesake brand? Being able to dress Michelle Obama when she was First Lady and bring my mom to the White House to meet her. Meeting and dressing women and knowing they feel happier and more powerful wearing us. We were one of the first few brands to offer an inclusive size range and still offer our collections in sizes 00 to 22. It’s so wonderful to be able to dress a diverse group of women. Also, building a successful brand that allows me to support the causes that I care about. Over the years, we’ve been able to support Memorial Sloan Kettering by designing headscarves for women undergoing chemotherapy treatments and helping to redesign the examroom curtains in the center’s pediatric wing.

How did you go from studying finance to becoming a designer?

It’s my happy place. I feel inspired, calm, and grounded when I’m in East Hampton and being able to ride bikes, go to the beach, be with friends, and cook nonstop is how I dream of spending my time. It’s not coincidental that so many artists, such as Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Andy Warhol, and Jackson Pollock, preferred to create Out East. It has magic in the air! GAMZE ATES MY BEACHY SIDE

Crochet Creation Perfection

Gamze, what’s the My Beachy Side backstory?

The creation of My Beachy Side has been a journey back to my roots in Turkey, where I grew up—to create a brand that is a beacon of hope for talented women who are curtailed by limited job opportunities and access to education. And to create a fashion statement that incorporates sustainable practices into its core. Crochet, which has a naturally low environmental impact, was the perfect medium. The beauty of this craft is how it intertwines sustainability and empowerment, offering a potential solution to help women in need create their own destiny, one crochet loop at a time. Why did you want to base your business in Turkey?

As a Turkish American, having been born and raised in Turkey and making the United States my home for the past 35 years, I’ve found a unique opportunity to intertwine my cultural roots with my mission. This project allows me to give back, particularly to the women in Turkey. The artistry and skills required to create our handmade pieces are abundant there; it’s a testament to the rich and vibrant heritage that I’m honored to be a part of. How did your partnership with the Netflix show Emily in Paris come to be?

models who are entrepreneurs who have provided me with the courage to build an artful fashion brand that’s bringing happiness, optimism, and energy into people’s lives. Fun fact: You worked for the Olsen twins back in the day! What did you learn from them?

It was so interesting to work for bosses who were designing for other women our age using instinct and a personal point of view. What I took away from my time with them was to embrace every single bit of my creativity. How do you incorporate art into your brand?

Our prints are all hand-painted; I think this is the way I tell stories through color and art in each of our pieces. I grew up in an artistic household where my mom would let me paint the walls of our home, so it felt natural to build a brand where art was the focus. I strongly feel art and color can be therapeutic.

first retail space. I want our customers to be inspired by a curation of products across fashion, accessories, and design that will all be handpicked by me. It’s a glimpse into my world and things that get me excited. I’ve envisioned a brick-and-mortar store since day 1 of starting this business, and I know it will become a space for our community to gather and grow.

Every extraordinary endeavor begins with the bond of friendship—just look at the dynamic duo, Emily and Mindy. My dear friend, the mastermind behind the show, Darren Star, brought their story to life. With the second season set on the French Riviera, it presented an ideal backdrop that aligned seamlessly with our brand, making this collaboration a perfect match. Tell us about your summer collection. It radiates an aura of Audrey Hepburn’s timeless glamour and elegance, reimagined with a contemporary twist. The collection is filled with nautical hues, seen across the world from the Côte d’Azur to the sun-soaked beaches of the Hamptons.

What’s next for the brand?

We’re excited to unveil an array of cozy sweaters, chic cardigans, and hand-knitted winter caftans.

I’m also thrilled about our forthcoming collaboration with Hikmet Barutçugil, the preeminent living maestro of marbling, a traditional Turkish art form steeped in centuries of rich heritage. This marks a pioneering endeavor for us, as we’re infusing this near-forgotten art form into our fabric, ensuring its legacy lives on.

What does a typical day Out East look like for you?

For me, the Hamptons is synonymous with spending time with friends and family. My days often commence with coffee at Tutto Caffe and conclude with dinner at my friend Valeri Mnuchin’s restaurant, Léon, on Shelter Island. Whether it’s embarking on a sunset cruise to Montauk or enjoying dinner at home, these moments are what truly imbue the Hamptons with its unique charm for me.

ALEX AND MICHAEL TOCCIN TOCCIN

The Go-to for Everyday Classics

What’s the TOCCIN backstory?

We met as college freshmen and have been bringing out the best in each other ever since. After moving to New York and establishing individual careers in the fashion industry, we made the jump to working together and haven’t looked back. We started with a digital platform helping women talk about fashion in an approachable way, which led to TOCCIN, our first collection inspired by the wants and needs of real women. The enthusiasm for TOCCIN led to the creation of a new brand, LDT, named after our daughter, Liv Dakota Toccin, which takes our signature “put-together” aesthetic and infuses it with bold youthful joy. We actively use our personal channel @alexandmichaeltoccin to share a BTS look at all our collections, share styling tips, and give people a glimpse into our lives as parents, creatives, and entrepreneurs. What are each of your roles at the company?

Alex is our CMO and muse, and Michael is our CEO and leads sales and design.

Tell us about your summer collection!

Our summer 2023 collection is inspired by the illuminating optimism of a summer sunset. From sand to soirée, there are nods to nostalgic summers with crochet and fringe, while also looking toward the future with sleek streamlined silhouettes. Sophisticated neutrals and knits are complemented by bold hues of orange and graphic prints across a selection of dresses, pants, and tops. How does the Hamptons serve as inspo for your brand?

Our Hamptons house is our oasis, so it’s not only the place where we come up with our creative ideas, but it also inspires these ideas. Where is TOCCIN sold?

At toccin.com, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf’s, and Rent the Runway.

PLUS! A DESIGNER COLLAB TO KNOW:

Wölffer x Zimmermann

Joey Wölffer tells all!

Joey, what sparked a collaboration between Wölffer and Zimmermann?

Fashion and wine complement each other in so many ways, so we felt like this partnership just made sense!

Tell us about the design concept behind the new bottle.

Zimmermann is known for its distinct designs that merge a modern sensibility with timeless charm. Combine their effortless elegance with our Summer in a Bottle branding, and you have this beautiful design that blends sophistication, natural beauty, and the joys of summertime.

MARINA LARROUDÉ LARROUDÉ

Shoes! Shoes! Shoes!

Marina, what inspired you to launch Larroudé? The women who surround me. From school drop-offs to cocktail parties and everything in between, I noticed a gap in fashionable footwear options that could take us through our day-to-day with high-quality pieces at an attainable price. Why are collaborations important to Larroudé?

We are a conversational brand. We love to collaborate with other fashion designers to bring their point of view to our shoes, and vice versa. We launched our collaboration with La Vie Style House Caftans in May and were thrilled to see our prints come to life on a new wardrobe staple. This June, we continued the relationship we forged with Jennifer Fisher Jewelry and have transitioned from boots to sandals! Not only do these pieces help us reach new audiences, they also enable both partners to flex their creative muscles. Tell us about your special-edition Hamptons shoes. Each collection, we drop an exclusive season print. It was so fun to see these prints come back to life on La Vie’s iconic caftan, which you can match with our Larroudé shoes! These matching moments are available to shop IRL at La Vie’s Southampton store. Favorite things to do in the Hamptons? We love Shelter Island and spend a lot of time there. Beach walks, barbecues, and Tracy Anderson workouts— I love it all!

Why is serving a chic bottle as important as a delicious rosé? A stylish and aesthetically pleasing bottle adds to the overall experience of enjoying a glass of rosé. It makes the visual presentation more enticing and memorable, creates a positive first impression, and elevates the drinking experience. Not to mention, the bottle can act as a beautiful decorative element when served at gatherings! How will you be activating the bottle this summer Out East?

The Wölffer Estate x Zimmermann Edition Bottle is available exclusively at our Tasting Room Boutique, the Wine Stand, and on wolffer.com. This is our first limited-edition bottle, and it’s so special to us, so we wanted the availability

to be exclusive. As for events, Zimmermann served the wine at its intimate Hamptons dinner in June, in Zimmermann’s East Hampton store for a shopping event benefiting the Bridgehampton Center, and we tied it into our 35th-anniversary celebrations last month.

Why is gifting this special Summer in a Bottle the perfect hostess gift for fashion lovers?

Picture this: As you set the table for your gathering, a beautiful bottle of Summer in a Bottle takes center stage, instantly transforming the ambiance into a stylish summer oasis. Not only does it bring delicious refreshment, but it also doubles as a dazzling decorative piece, adding that extra touch of style for any soirée! T

ADVANCING MEDICINE. ENHANCING YOU

STYLISTS TO WATCH DANIELLE + ALIX TAKE OVER SUMMER HOUSE FASHION

Summer House, the hit Bravo TV show following the lives of NYC’s hottest Hamptons’ goers, has created a new generation of fashionistas. Styling duo Danielle and Alix—popular for their work with talent such as Lindsay Lohan, Alix Earle, Josie Canseco, and more—have been responsible for many of the looks and trends of the show’s stars on- and off-screen. Take a look!

AMANDA BATULA

The duo also works with Amanda Batula, founder of Loverboy, the premium alcohol brand. “She has the coolest masculine yet feminine style, which aligns with our personal style. We love men’s tailored–inspired pieces, summer suiting, and little dresses paired with oversize jackets,” D&A say. They helped Batula with her Summer House Season 7 reunion look, as well as her first-ever Met Gala party look.

D&A: Amanda, how do you describe your personal style?

PAIGE DESORBO

Danielle and Alix and their first Summer House client, Paige DeSorbo, have created countless fashion moments together, from Hamptons weekends and MTV red carpets to “Giggly Squad” podcast tours and Watch What Happens

Live episodes. “Styling Paige is a collaborative process; she typically has a vision going into a fitting and loves to explore and stay ahead of trends,” D&A say. “We can lean into her super girly side, or other times deliver something edgier and unexpected. It’s always fun to dress according to location.”

D&A: Paige, what pieces are you gravitating toward this summer?

Paige DeSorbo: I’m in love with the maxi trend; maxi skirts and dresses are definitely my go-to look this summer.

What’s your method for shopping this season?

DeSorbo: I love to splurge, but that must be put on pause. So I’m always trying to find Jacquemus dupes.

Amanda Batula: Relaxed, effortless, and a bit androgynous. I’m not big on patterns or bold accessories and tend to stick with neutral colors, as it’s easier to put together a look when most of your clothes match. I’m usually dressed more casually and love an effortless look, when in reality I tried on multiple outfits before settling on one. When I do dress up, I like feeling more feminine, sexy, and confident. But comfort is my priority, so I stay away from anything that requires crazy undergarments. Who’s your summer style icon? Batula: I pull a lot of my inspiration from random accounts on TikTok and explore pages on Instagram. I feel like there hasn’t been one specific person I’ve found who does both the tomboy chic and sophisticated minimalist the way I like. But some of my favorite accounts to stalk at the moment are @aresaixala94 (TikTok), @elynnekeizer (TikTok), @millyhobbs (IG), @imogenstyling (IG), and of course @danielleandalix. Their personal style is chef’s kiss.

SAM FEHER

The stylists are looking forward to styling the newest addition to Summer House, Sam Feher. “Starting with a new client like Sam is so exciting. Having the ability to dive in and develop her style as the ‘new girl’ is a cool opportunity,” D&A say.

D&A: Sam, which workout classes are your fave Out East?

Sam Feher: I’ve always been majorly into HIIT workouts, so Barry’s Bootcamp is definitely on my list. But this summer, I’m thinking about mixing in some lowimpact formats, so catch me at New York Pilates in Bridgehampton!

D&A: Go-to athleisure brands?

Feher: SET Active is my go-to, plus Talentless, Alo, and Skims. T

Danielle and Alix will be out and about in the Hamptons all summer long. The duo will be partnering with the first-ever styling suite at the Casa Del Sol house for outfitting and styling guests.

STYLE STAR SAI DE SILVA ON JOINING THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK

Sai De Silva, the fashion creator and entrepreneur behind the Scout the City brand, is taking the small screen as a new cast member of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York. Ahead of the show’s season premiere on July 16th, we get the latest on what to expect.

Sai, what initially made you want to try out for the cast of RHONY?

When I found out that Bravo was looking for diverse, aspirational, and inspirational women in NYC, it felt like the perfect fit.

What was your reaction when you found out you got picked?

My jaw was on the floor! I was in pure shock.

How would you describe the vibe of this season’s cast?

The overall vibe is a mix of humor, fun, tension, and personal growth. It’s a real friendship.

Were you a fan of Housewives

before this opportunity?

Of course! Real Housewives of Atlanta is absolutely hysterical, but I also love Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for a dose of glitz and glamour. Did you know any of the girls prior to filming?

We all knew of one another because we’re in the same social circle. Our personalities are all so different, and it works! The show is a lot of fun.

What do you hope viewers will learn about you on the show?

As a content creator, my life is already on display, but in a

curated format. On the show, I have a few vulnerable moments that will allow viewers to see me in a different light.

Who gave you the best advice ahead of the RHONY filming, and what was it?

Andy Cohen has been our cheerleader through this wild journey. He told me to not focus on the social media comments and just focus on what’s in front of me.

What did you learn about yourself through your first season?

That I’m always hungry! [Laughs] No, truly, I never realized how much I eat. Stay tuned and you will see what I mean.

You’re one of the original fashion creators. How did you first get into the space?

In 2014, I thought it would be fun to chronicle my life as a new mother with my daughter and our love for fashion. It evolved quickly into the full luxury fashion and lifestyle brand that it is today.

How do you describe your personal style?

I’m a chameleon! I love to try new trends to match my mood. I like to have fun, and

I’m not scared of change. I like to think that fashion is a way of expressing myself without having to say a word.

What are your plans for the season premiere of the show? I have so many that I need to narrow it down! I would love to have a dinner party premiere at my home upstate, but I of course want to do it in the city as well. I would also like to party with the network because this is a wild ride and deserves a celebration. As you can see, I want to do it all, and I’m beyond excited for everyone to see the new season. What’s next for you?

Sky’s the limit! I’m working on a couple of projects that aren’t fully developed yet, but stay tuned because I will continue to stick around for a while. T

MAKING YOUR DREAM HAMPTONS HOME A REALITY

What does it take to land your dream Hamptons home? A great real estate agent and mortgage company, to start. Here, we present an East End real estate salesperson and the managing partner of a top mortgage company to help make this process seamless. Because, it can be!

Susan, you closed more than $45 million of transactions in 2021 alone. To what do you credit your success?

I have a deep network of relationships that I have nurtured for decades, and I’m incredibly grateful for the referrals my clients give me. Nothing makes me happier than helping a client find that special home, and I think something that sets me and my team

apart is that we put our clients’ needs first and provide total transparency along the way, which in turn builds trust. How did your background in finance propel you to transition into real estate? After graduating from Harvard Business School, I started working on Wall Street at Goldman Sachs, and then ended up doing real estate private equity for a European firm. Being trained in my financial career to be analytical, while also creatively looking at multiple sides of a deal, has

served me and my clients well. What’s most special about selling in the Hamptons?

The breathtaking natural beauty that envelops the East End, juxtaposed with the proximity to New York City is incredibly special. The Hamptons is the total package. Being so close to NYC ensures a constant flow of interesting and dynamic people, culture, dining, and the arts. What’s trending in the Hamptons market right now? A lot of our buyers want a property that is turnkey. With the long waits for permitting and materials, many people want to purchase a home they can move into immediately. What’s your top tip for millennials looking to buy their dream Hamptons home? Get involved! Now is the perfect time to make a move and buy your dream home or even your starter Hamptons home. Establish equity now, so you don’t become a lifelong renter!

PLUS! SECURING YOUR HOME NOW

Alex, Black Mountain Capital has been the leader in private mortgage banking for more than 25 years. How do you work with your clients?

We’ve built a reputation to deliver for our clients; fortunately for us, good news travels fast and the amount of word-of-mouth referrals has kept us busy over the years. We’re an elite team of mortgage bankers, and our range of products provide us an ability to move quickly on a variety of opportunities. It’s important to also highlight that the services we provide allow us to be flexible, particularly during cycles of volatility.

Why should buyers use BMC? We’re locals now! We’ve done a great deal of lending on the East End of Long Island, so it

was only a natural fit for us to have a physical location now, on Montauk Highway in Wainscott. Aside from that, we’re a valuable resource for anyone seeking financing for their projects. Everyone has a different situation when going through the financial process of buying a home. How do you cater to their individual needs?

There are so many moving parts to any given transaction; it’s

important to understand the needs of the client and their investment strategy. Our loan sizes range from $500,000 to $50 million-plus and because of this, lending guidelines also don’t look alike either. The desired outcome is based on more than just interest rates— it’s customization. What we find most important is thinking outside the traditional banking box, quality control, settings

expectations, delivering on those expectations, leverage options, and speed of execution. For millennials who are looking to purchase for the first time and might be intimidated by the process, what’s your advice?

Getting preapproved is critical to the success of shopping for any property or property type. Understanding the numbers and most importantly the tax benefits of owning real estate can change one’s perspective when looking at properties. Where else do you service besides the Hamptons?

We have a huge footprint in the greater New York Metro area. Florida has been an amazing market for us; the growth has been incredible. So incredible that we have a new location pending for later this year! T

Fran Drescher Takes the Hamptons

activist, and president of SAGAFTRA Fran Drescher has always been on a mission to help others.

Now, she’s heading to the Hamptons this month for her Master Class Health Summit in support of her movement, Cancer Schmancer. She catches up on her Out East plans and life these days with us!

Fran! We’re so excited to hear that you’re in town this summer. Tell us what you’re doing here.

I’m presenting the Fran Drescher Master Class Health Summit in support of my Cancer Schmancer movement. This all-day event has been a life-changing and highly anticipated annual event in Los Angeles. But this year, after much urging by our members, many of whom are Hamptons residents, and supporters, we’ve decided to do a summer one in the Hamptons.

You’re a born and bred New Yorker. When was the last time you were in the Hamptons?

I have many friends with homes in the Hamptons, so I’ve been visiting this beautiful part of New York since the Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten, actually worked in the shop! But in recent years with COVID, elderly parents living in Florida, my own home on the beach in

Malibu, as well as an apartment in Manhattan, I’m long overdue to return and very much looking forward to bringing my passion and life mission of Cancer Schmancer and our Health Summit program to the Hamptons on July 29th. What are some of your favorite memories from your time Out East?

Honestly, my life is so hectic, so relaxing with friends in the privacy of their homes is my idea of heaven. The beaches are gorgeous, great walking, and village shopping is fun, but my best times are the quiet ones. Cancer Schmancer has made such an impact on people. Tell us about its mission. As a survivor and a thriver for

23 years now, I’ve turned my pain into purpose with my foundation, Cancer Schmancer, and our commitment to educate, motivate, and activate people into taking control of their bodies, transform from patients into medical consumers, and live our Detox Your Home program, because how you live equals how you feel.

50 \ Fourth of July 2023 \ Spotlight ALL IMAGES COURTESY Doing Good
Fran Drescher

What will the focus of this year’s summit be?

“Is Chronic Illness the New Plague?” We curate brilliant outside-the-box-thinking medical doctors and authors to present a global view of health that is not only forwardthinking but also a whole new way of managing our health. I watched you on The Nanny for my entire childhood and teenage years. Do you ever miss playing Fran Fine? The show has never been off the air everywhere in the world since 1993, so actually I still feel

connected to both the character and the series. Social media has given the series longevity, and now we’re on Max!

This November marks the show’s 30th anniversary. What are some of your favorite memories of filming? From day 1 we knew we caught lightening in a bottle. And for a kid from Queens to succeed in such a difficult industry is so rare that I have nothing but gratitude. Realizing my strengths as a writer/producer became extremely fulfilling— working with such incredible

writers and actors throughout the years was an absolute gift. And as a traveler to be loved by fans around the world to this day is a joy. But the best thing about The Nanny has been the doors it opened for me to be able to speak on the issues that matter most to me. Who do you keep in touch with from the cast?

I would have to say Renée Taylor and Charles Shaughnessy. But over the years I’ve talked to everyone many times, and I’m still close to Brenda Cooper, my award-winning costume

designer on The Nanny, as well as writers Frank Lombardi and Caryn Lucas. But of course, I’m still partners with my writing/ producing co-creator and best friend, my high school sweetheart and gay ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson! There were convos about a reunion show happening. Where’s that been left? There are always things in the fire and possibilities for something to celebrate our 30th. But it’s now difficult to pursue anything while the WGA is on strike. Currently, I’m in the midst of a major contract negotiation for SAG-AFTRA in collective bargaining with the studios, so to be honest, I want to finish summer with a contract that I can be proud of! When you come Out East, what else besides your event do you want to do here?

Relax, spa, and dine in that order! This is our summer fashion issue. Describe your personal style to us!

Style for me is not too trendy, but a classic silhouette with a splash of sex appeal. I prefer solids to prints generally, and monochromatic to mixing colors. I think dressing to accentuate your assets helps to downplay what’s not your best feature, and with aging that too keeps changing.

You’ve done so much throughout your life. Is there anything left that you would still like to accomplish?

I’ve always wanted to live in Europe. Currently, I’m living in a Parisian apt for 17 days, and it’s been heaven! I love to go to the market and buy organic food that I can enjoy at home, as well as arranging flowers. What a dream! Anything else you want us to know?

Be kind to yourself, as well as all beings and the earth. This is a daily practice. Love is love. T

Whether during your ride to and from the city or while relaxing at the beach or around a pool, there’s an ever-expanding landscape of pods to enjoy. This issue, we focus on shows hosted by East End notables who are some of our neighbors who summer in the Hamptons or spend all year out here.

A crazy divorce, parenting in today’s world, and even her hot takes on pop culture are enlightening and often bring the laughs. T

SUMMER SKINCARE 411

The season is in full swing, and our skincare questions are burning! NYC and Hamptons dermatologist

Dr. Sadick, how should we be adjusting our skincare routines with present summer temps?

Summer skincare is all about keeping your skin fresh, protected, and glowing. Adjust your routine to lighter textures and embrace the tropical scents that remind you of the season. SPF clothing is trending. What do you think about it?

SPF clothing can be a beneficial addition to your sun-protection routine. It provides enhanced protection against the sun’s harmful UV rays, especially in those hard-to-reach areas. SPF clothing is not a replacement for sunscreen, though. Remember to choose reputable brands and apply sunscreen to exposed areas for comprehensive protection.

Why do some people tend to break out more during the summer, and how can they combat it?

This is due to factors like heat, humidity, increased oil production, sunscreen-related issues, and outdoor activities. Cleanse the skin regularly, use oil-free and noncomedogenic products, choose lightweight and mineral-based sunscreens that restore the microbiome, cleanse after outdoor activities, and maintain a consistent skincare routine. Consulting a dermatologist can provide personalized advice and treatment if breakouts persist. Some look at Botox as a onestop solution, but it requires maintenance. What are your tips for making Botox last?

First, choose an experienced provider who can ensure proper placement and dosage. Avoid touching or rubbing the treated areas immediately after the procedure. Minimize strenuous activities and heat exposure for the first couple of days. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can promote overall skin health. And protect your skin from the sun. Consider incorporating retinol or peptides into your routine. Exploring treatments like micro-needling or hydrafacials can also enhance the longevity of results. Lastly, follow up with maintenance treatments as advised by your provider. Should we be more lax about our beauty treatments during the summer and focus on natural approaches?

Not really. There are so many beauty treatments that shouldn’t be paused in the summer, such as treatments for hair growth, skin-tightening, laser facials, and Botox. Of course, during the summer, it can be beneficial to shift our focus toward skincare and natural approaches, allowing for a more relaxed approach to beauty treatments. But it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Remember to listen to your skin!

A Day in the Life of Kylie Vonnahme

Model and podcast host Kylie Vonnahme loves the Hamptons as much as we do! The founder of Undo the Booze shares her summer routine with us.

Kylie, you’re a model, podcast host, and entrepreneur. Which came first?

My modeling career came first and began in 2016. I started my health-and-wellness podcast, “The Not So Simple Life,” during the pandemic. Lastly, I launched my business, Undo the Booze, in August 2022.

How did you get discovered as a model?

I was scouted by Ford Models at a Taylor Swift concert in Dallas. Best night ever!

What’s been your proudest modeling moment?

My cover of Vogue Mexico in 2021.

What’s the backstory behind Undo the Booze?

As a girl who loves her cocktails but also loves her morning workouts, I was having a hard time balancing the two. After trying all the “hangover cures” on the market, I wasn’t loving any of the available options. I began creating my own formula, so I decided to start my own business and got a doctor on my team to help me bring this after-alcohol supplement to life.

How long have you been summering Out East?

This will be my fourth summer in the Hamptons. I began coming Out East in 2020.

Why do you love it here?

I love that I can be transported to a completely different environment in just two hours. There’s so much variety in the Hamptons—the beaches, the farmstands, the restaurants, the workout classes. I love that you can spend your weekend however you want!

What are you most excited for this Fourth of July?

I’m excited to get some friends together for a big beach day. You can’t beat the weather at this time of year! T

Think Independent, Drink Independent

Summer is in full swing, and it’s time to wine up! Get to know Sommsation, an online shop modernizing the way people share experiences over wine by connecting wineries, wine experts, the wine obsessed, and the wine curious in exclusive tastings. Danielle Diliberti, CEO of the company, shares everything you need to know. Listen up!

Danielle, what sparked the idea behind Sommsation?

Wine lovers should have access to exceptional wine, right? Most wine drinkers view every bottle of wine as a potentially great experience, so we launched a wine-experience company to simplify things. We developed the concept during a global pandemic, a time that forced people to think and live outside of traditional norms. It’s an opportunity for everyone involved to experience great wine, talk about the artistry, and learn more about the wines, winemakers, and vineyards behind the magic.

Tell us how Sommsation works. Sommsation’s shop is a highly curated selection of the best independent wines available. We’re here to help make it easy for wine lovers to access the best in the world of wine through our online shop and personalized sommelier-led tastings. We champion family-owned independent wineries and the sommeliers who have perfected their craft, so our clients can trust that they’re getting the best. Our website makes it easy to purchase directly or connect with our concierge.

Where does the Sommsation journey begin?

Clients can choose a 90-minute or 60-minute virtual tasting, or host a private event, with a sommelier on video or in person. We help clients select the wine tasting from a range of curated experiences based on a theme, varietal, or region they might be interested in. Clients can also self-select their tasting. Sommsation’s concierge is always available to provide helpful tips when selecting the experience or to customize an experience. Each tasting comes with three full bottles

of wine for the 90-minute tasting, or two bottles for the 60-minute tasting, shipped directly to guests. Sommsation pairs clients with a professional sommelier who leads and engages guests, sharing stories about the winery, how each of the wines was produced, what makes them distinctive, food pairing suggestions, and more. How are you catering to Hamptonites this summer?

This summer is all about independence. We want people to enjoy great wine and the summer months by celebrating things that make you happy.

“Think Independent, Drink Independent.” The Sommsation Lounge will be making its way through the Hamptons this summer and will be at select hotels (details coming soon!). We’re focused on luxury and glamour, with a hint of edginess. What are your top tips for purchasing wine?

It always helps to have some ideas about what you’re looking for. Knowing your budget, a particular country or region, the name of the grape, or certain style of wine can help inform your selection. Ask for help from our experts! Keep an open mind. And as the old saying goes, You can’t judge a book by its cover, and the same applies to wine. Try not to buy wine based on the cool look of the bottle or label.

What wine are you loving right now?

I’m enjoying Paradise Springs’ Pink Ash Sparkling Rosé, TriCal’s Jalama Beach Blend, and Addax’s Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir (all 2019). More general, I’m always happy with a bold Napa Valley cabernet. What foods do you usually pair with your wine?

Almost any seafood with a crisp white wine, grill a steak and enjoy with a bold cabernet, and sip rosé or sparkling wine with or without cheese. I lean into our sommeliers often to get new ideas on food and wine pairings. Looking ahead, what can we expect from Sommsation in the near future?

Sommsation’s Lounge was at the Tribeca Festival in June and now you can look for our Hamptons pop-ups. We’re also launching a Sunday Series, where clients can join a webinar for sommelier-led tastings and to engage with our community. And of course, we’ll continue to offer a growing selection of curated wines. There are many exciting things to come for Sommsation this year! T

Zodiac Thrillers

YOUR HAMPTONS HOROSCOPE FOR JULY

As the summer parade marches on, our resident astrologer shares what might be in the stars for you.

CANCER

June 21–July 22

Cancers are famous for their sensitivity, but that can work against the danger-seeking crab. The Venus/Mars conjunction on the 13th encourages strengthening boundaries, but the full moon on the 22nd is a reminder of just how safe you are.

SCORPIO

October 23–November 21

Mars’ dance into Virgo on July 29th asks that you tone down the drama. Passion is fun, but staying cool speaks to having a relationship based on authentic friendship rather than exhausting soap operas. Think lapping waves, not tsunami.

LEO

July 23–August 22

Shake that wild mane and strut your tail, but not until the 22nd when the sun hits your sign. Until then you might take in a movie at Sag Harbor Cinema and learn to appreciate a slower pace. Preserving that energy will pay off big-time in August.

SAGITTARIUS

November 22–December 21

You can usually see many sides to a problem, and the new moon on the 9th will help illuminate the truth even more. On the 28th, as Jupiter moves back into Aquarius, it’s like you’ve got a crystal ball. Celebrate your insights at The Palm’s bar.

VIRGO

August 23–September 22

Even though it’s the height of Hamptons summer, there may be sweet whisperings about work and career. The new moon on the 9th favors your rise, and guess what else? A secret admirer may soon make himself known. Shy virgin, you’re not!

CAPRICORN

December 22–January 19

Nothing stirs a goat like the jingle of coins and the sweet smell of success. July 9th’s new moon meetings will go well, so book those dinner reservations at Nick and Toni’s. You’re ascending the mountain; now get ready to plant your flag.

LIBRA

September 23–October 22

Libra is so much about justice, yet on the 13th, you might experience jealousy among some of your crowd. Don’t sweat it unless you’re in the sauna at Gurney’s. Stay cool and let your innate balance calm the greeneyed monster of lesser souls.

AQUARIUS

January 20–February 18

Some conflicting issues could arise from the 9th to the 13th. You usually keep your head above the fray, but with a retrograde in Jupiter, it might be a perfect time to hide away on Shelter Island, just long enough for the fog to clear.

PISCES

February 19–March 20

Fish swim, birds fly, but love stuff won’t be great this July. Instead, friends will surround you with support and work problems will have less bearing on happiness as you frolic in your natural marine habitat with a school of pals who “get” you.

ARIES

March 21–April 19

Fireworks of fun are in store for you this month, Aries. You’ll be seeing long-lost friends and making nicey-nice with your family, too. It’s possible you may cut some ties on the 29th. No one wants to lose a sexy ram friend, so let ’em down easy.

TAURUS

April 20–May 20

Holy cow, we see love this month! We’re talking the one, or as close as it comes. Venus’ and Mars’ waltz on the 13th is delicious; and on July 21st, you and your once-in-a-lifetime match will stroll right into summer’s sweet sunset. Promise.

GEMINI

May 21–June 20

With a Venus retrograde, your friendships may be challenged. That’s not easy for talkative Gemini. Discuss things over a lobster roll and you’ll see how fences can be mended. Add some Wölffer rosé and by month’s end, all will be forgiven.
