Letter from the Founder and CEO This year has been unprecedented and full of disbelief and tragedy. Although we all were impacted in some way—whether setback, loss, or hardship—2020 allowed each individual to self-reflect and appreciate the gift of life. God continues to provide and watch over us. As we accept our new normal and impart positive light to those around us, I am hoping that the launch of The Heat Seekers Magazine will help to bring positive vibes to everyone. As the Founder and CEO of this publication, I want 2021 to be a year of reflection and positivity. As you read each article on how each artist has made it through the trials of 2020, congratulate and appreciate their willingness to overcome. I will call 2021 our “new beginning.” As we begin the process of healing, restoring, and evaluating all around us, let’s remember to still celebrate one another. Without God, this magazine would not be possible. Without hope, I would have stopped midway in the year. Without courage, I would have dropped everything and settled for second-best. Instead, I decided to use my gift of spreading joy and love and compress it into colorful pages and images of individuals that I honor and adore. Thanks for joining me on this new journey of journalism; I wish you peace, happiness, joy, and prosperity for 2021. Remember: “Quitters never overcome, and overcomes never quit!” Blessings to all of you!

Not Just for Laughs Interview by David R. Navarro

David R. Navarro: ell us a little about yourself? Monie Jonezy: Sensational Blackman, born and raised in Denver, Colorado also know as the infamous Eastside. I am also a Veteran and served in the Air Force for 6 years, my highest rank was Staff Sergeant. I am a Super proud Dad of 3 amazing kids. DN: How long have you been doing standup? MJ: With all due respect for the Art but I have been producing Comedy shows for 6, almost 7 years. But all in all, I’ve been doing stand-up about 4 years now. DN: What made you decide to be serious about being a comedian? MJ: I really enjoy making people laugh! I saw a lane and tried it out and form the looks of it I made a good decision. DN: Which people or books have had the most influence on your career and why? MJ: I don’t want to give away my secrets, but my biggest influences are Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. Watching Eddie’s Hit Raw has a real impression on me, well all his movies really did. He was my favorite actor for over a decade. Martin Lawrence came through with his talent and style that was so incredible to me. Just watching their brilliance really put a fire in my belly and I felt I needed to be a part of that lane. DN: What would you say is the #1 key to success in the entertainment industry? MJ: Off top, listening to God. DN: Talk about the biggest failure you’ve had. What did you learn from it? MJ: Far too many times I gave too many people too many opportunities, putting their feelings and wants in front of my own, instead of trusting my intuition. I feel I would be further in my career, but the good thing is I learned how to stay focused by letting go of those distractions that kept me from being the best version of myself. DN: What advice can you give other individuals who want to follow in your footsteps? MJ: You must really be passionate about your craft because it looks better than it really is. There are a lot of sacrifices that come along with this lane. DN: What keeps you going when things get tough in the business? MJ: My ambition to be successful and God. That simple. DN: What does a typical day in your week look like? MJ: Man, fueling up for mu work out, checking my social media sites, in tour mode, working on my set, eating is super important I’m a half vegan, Atlanta has way too much good food to

go full vegan right now, most importantly I’m always trying to figure out how to make more money. DN: Is there anything else you’d like us to know? MJ: All jokes aside ultimately, I love what I do. I love to see people elevate and I’m a serious advocate to help end homelessness and hunger. I’m passionate about these issues and I want to make sure to do my part to make a difference. You can find me on Facebook Monie Jonezy @Monie Jonezy on Twitter and Instagram. Thank you for the support and for taking the time to get to know me. Hey, Creatives! July 2021: Surviving the Indie Scene with Candice By Candice “Ordered Steps” Johnson Too often, we allow the noise to silence our progress. In this era where opinions seem to take precedence over facts, know that your art, your creations are what keeps you fueled, not social media, cyber-bullying or even self-doubt and deprecation. CREATE. Even when you feel it’s not making a difference. CREATE. Even when it hurts – because eventually, it’s going to HEAL. CREATE. Even when you can’t see the impact your work has on others. CREATE…even when it seems like your art has become your enemy. It may sound crazy, but your creativity is helping you cash in on your peace. When things fall apart, your imagination helps piece it all back together. Sitting back and observing how people on the other side of the keyboard move this year, one thing has become painfully clear: those who don’t have the gift of creating are fearless in tearing others down…so you be brave enough to fight back with your WORK!!!

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE

Girl Power! Interview by Teresa B. Howell Teresa B. Howell: Tell us a little bit about the group? MAKO Girls: We are the MAKO Girls a trio sister girl group base in Atlanta that makes urban pop and R&B music. Collectively we all have a passion to entertain and can sing, dance, and rap. TBH: How long has the group been in the music industry? MG: We have been in the music industry for 7 years. Throughout that time we’ve created our own platform, performed at over 300 shows, and have been recognized by major people in the industry. TBH: How did the group become serious about music? MG: The inspiration to take music seriously came for the boy band Mindless Behavior. After viewing their documentary we were moved to pursue music as a career. TBH: Is it now considered a career? MG: Yes, we consider this as a career. TBH: What made you decide to pursue music? MG: We’ve always had a love to entertain . It started with us making dances for parties and in our living room. To now performing on stages in front of large audiences. TBH: Who has the most influence on the group’s music career and why? MG: TLC had a huge impact on us and are one our main inspirations. We admire their longevity and message in their music. TBH: Were there any mistakes you’ve learned from in the industry? MG: We’ve learned to wear appropriate wardrobe for performing, we’ve experience a lot of wardrobe malfunctions on stage and now we know to wear dance wear attire for performances. As well as not showing it on your face if you messed up, because no one knows your moves except you. TBH: What advice can you give new artists who want to follow in the group’s footsteps? MG: Make sure that all of the group members are in it for the same goal. They had to be open minded and willing to put in the work. And distribute the work accordingly to work strongly together. And overall have fun!

TBH: In your opinion, what are the benefits of being an indie artist group? MG: With being an indie artist you have all creative control, the ability to build your own team around you, and you’re learning all of the necessary skills as an artist to be able to explain it when someone works with you. TBH: What does a typical day in the studio look like for the group? MG: Before our recording session we work with our vocal coach on the songs. In the studio, Mimi mainly takes the role as a vocal coach or help with vocal production. Ani is the one to get into the booth and record her parts fairly quickly. While Kena sets the vibe in the studio, keeping the energy going when we’re doing our parts. TBH: Who helped produce the songs and lyrics? MG: We write our songs as well as collaborating with other songwriters and producers. TBH: Have you started performing? MG: We are slowly working our way back in live in-person shows. Though we are out performing our focus is to remain safe. THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE

10

TBH: Who would be considered the group’s mentor? MG: Some of our mentors are our vocal coach Mr. James Slaughter and our engineer JT. They have guided us with our performances, career, and have taught us to stick to who we are as artist. TBH: How can someone reach you if they wanted to reach out for a performance? MG: You can email bookings@makogirls.com to inquire for us to perform. TBH: Any new music coming out? MG: We are in the works of releasing our upcoming single “Aint Thinkin Bout You” and an EP that will follow up after towards the end of this year! TBH: What is one of your favorite songs on your album? MG: On our upcoming EP one of our favorites tracks is “Mood”. It’s very different compare to most of our tracks. And gives off a chill cadence with the beat, exudes tons of attitude and lets us brag a bit on how we celebrate our wins.

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE

A Visionary and Creative Thinker

Interview by Lissha Sadler of Hardcore Grind Suave Churchill’s life started on a different level in the streets as one of the original Freeway Boyz. Being raised by Freeway Ricky Ross, Sauve learned the definition of Hustle and to work until it is complete. It’s all about motivation, hard work, and dedication. Now Suave is CEO of EKJ Entertainment LLC, are the owner and founder of the award-winning luxury clothing company VP Churchill Fashion & Apparel. Former President at Rick Ross Music Group, Suave was also the Head of Promotions at Funkcave Records and VP at Deep In The Game Records. He has built a distinguished resume while working with major recording artists such as Snoop Dogg, Bad Azz, Dogg Pound, and Dr. Dre during his days in the promotion department at Priority Records. Suave has developed a keen understanding of the entertainment industry by understanding the importance of longevity and business. After 30 years in the entertainment industry, Suave took a brief hiatus to kick start his family apparel line. But he has returned to the music industry to work with his childhood friend and partner Jerry Long, aka Kokane, The Most Featured Artist In The World, Spice 1, Yukmouth, Kurupt, Chill of Compton Most Wanted, Justified, Chilly Chill of the Lench Mob, and Compton Reg. He joined the executive team of Platinum City Entertainments with President and CEO Terry and Lawon Carney, bringing together some of the best talents to create a dynamic sound for The World Epidemic documentary based on gun violence in Los Angeles/America. He is also on the board of The World Rebirth Foundation, a non-profit organization that deals with inner-city youth. Their objective is to help the inner-city youth build self-esteem to go out in the real world and develop businesses, entrepreneurship self-alliance, and other things that are not taught to our youth in the classrooms. Suave looks to leave his blueprint to everyone with a vision of becoming determined by those Nipsey Hussle standards. Lissha Sadler: How would you describe your creative eye? What inspires you? Suave Churchill: Well, I’m a visionary, a creative thinker more or less, even when I’m asleep, I’m thinking, weird, but I’ve been like that since I can remember. What inspires me, Well seeing other people win. No way a hater, I love to see people build and create, branding is king, and I love seeing growth, especially young entrepreneurs.

LS: What does your creative power mean to you? SC: It means a lot, shows growth, and shares my learnings and teachings with others. As you stated, It’s the power to be creative, and hopefully, others can learn from me. Nipsey Hussle gave me his blueprint, so I’m adding to it and sharing it with others. LS: Where does your creativity flow? How do you avoid burning out? SC: If I understand the question, My creative flow comes from thinking about where I came from, Pomona, California. The last city in Los Angeles county is poverty but not knowing because I had so much fun, not knowing we were poor, and so much love from the community. But my flow came from such people as Kokane, Suga Free, Sugar Shane Mosley, and Jessica Alba. These people inspired me, and I just thought if these people from my city are shining on the big screen, I know I have to be creative in the sports world and the music industry. Far as burning out, again, Knowing where I come from, giving it 110% without hesitation. LS: What made you create VP Churchill Fashion and Apparel? SC: Well, I started Monsta Squad Apparel with Richard Morrow, which we lost to stage 4 cancer early this year. I had another vision from his, so after about 2 yrs, I wasn’t feeling the name, and then a light flashed. How about starting an apparel company with your last name and creating a family-owned business THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE

14

with my kids. So, I started the brand VP Churchill. People ask me all the time, “What does the VP mean in VP Churchill” I tell them it’s Volume Parity. I have everyone look up the definition because if you tell them, they will forget, lol. Monsta Squad was cool, but I wasn’t feeling it, so Richard stayed with it, but unfortunately, he passed away. LS: Tell us about the vision behind VP Churchill Fashion and Apparel? SC: Well, my vision was to have a high-end brand like Gucci, Prada, Fendi, etc. You know, quality product and affordable. So after a couple of months, my manufacturer Eduardo De La Cruz, started brainstorming and came up with the old-school letterman jacket made from raw materials, fine stitching, and Corinthian leather. Then I started targeting my celebrity friends, entertainers, and athletes. Floyd Mayweather loved the product, then Snoop Dogg, Cedric The Entertainers, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Kokane, and the list goes on. After that, we created the Hoodie, right after that, the varsity jacket. After about a year, the Fat Burgers on Crenshaw & Slauson that Nipsey Hussle owned contacted me after his murdered and asked me to create a T-shirt for the employees. They wanted to have them for Nipsey’s birthday to wear the week of his birthday, so we knocked out the design in one hour. Again, I’m a visionary. I saw the design in my mind in seconds. They ordered like 60 pieces. Then the customers started asking if they could buy one. I received a call within two days and ordered more than a thousand pieces. After about a week, people were wearing my brand all over Los Angeles. That was the best feeling in the world, knowing the man that gave me his blueprint store would be wearing my brand as their uniform. LS: If you could change anything about the fashion industry, what would it be? SC: Honestly, nothing, because fashion is like art, a reflection of your vision. Everyone has their outlook on their craft. All fashion designers come from all walks of life, so we all see things differently. I come from the hood, not Hollywood, so my vision sees things way differently. Damian John created FUBU “FOR US BY US,” totally different from Ralph Lauren or Armani. LS: What advice do you have for aspiring fashion designers? SC: My advice will be to create something you love, and no one else has made. Put in 110%, find your target market, wear your brand and become a walking billboard. Marketing is a must, and I prefer everyone to develop a mobile and create a fanbase. I’m in the process of building my brand app. I will share it with you all and share it with you all. Then will understand why.

15

THE HEAT SEEKERS MAGAZINE

LS: How do you stay updated with the trends in the fashion industry? SC: To be truthful, the kids in my community, lol. These kidsare so on top of the latest fashion, and then I’ll put my twist on it. Since the pandemic, many kids send me ideas, and I’m thankful for their vision. I’m all about teaching kids business and entrepreneurship. And of course, when I get my apparel hot off the press, I’ll surprise them with a couple of pieces hot off the press. LS: What is next for Suave Churchill? What will your top priorities be moving forward in your career? SC: Well, you know I retired from the music industry in 2018 and formed my apparel line. Then a friend of mine (Kenneth Hall) wanted to start a record label. I wasn’t with it, but music has always been my passion, so he continued to speak on his nephews (The Mifly Family). Eventually, I heard them, and I was like, wow!!! We signed them, and the artist by the name of Compton R.E.G which we just shot his video in Las Vegas “NO NO” We just did a song with E-40 “Grown Ass Man” and Snoop Dogg “Feel On Your Booty,” which are all summer cuts. It was like 4 of them, along with three R&B females. I was sold after that, and now I’m the CEO of EKJ Entertainment LLC. I lived most of my life on the road, At priority records, president of Rick Ross Music Group, my uncle Freeway Rick Ross label, Grooveline Magazine, I was the Westcoast rep which we took artists on tour HBCU colleges. I’m back in the game for a while lol. Be on the lookout for the Mifly family. These artists are going to make noise in the industry, mark my word. LS: You have a new platform, audiostage.io, specifically for music lovers and artists. How did this deal come about? SC: The company is formed by my business partner Kenneth Hall, the CFO of EKJ Entertainment. It’s pretty much like Tidal Spotify and Apple Music. UdioStage.io is a platform for people to discover and discuss new and old music they like, enabling them to enhance their music experience with conversation. Fans and artists can genuinely interact without social media algorithms or third-party interests getting in the way, nor does anyone have to sacrifice their privacy. Streaming music is free.

The Flow feature only makes suggestions for people to discover new music without commercial intent, and there are no ads to diminish the purity of the platform. Fans can buy music directly and communicate directly with their favorite artists, allowing for a deeper connection. Not only can artists sell music directly to their fans, but they can also publish podcasts, post blogs articles, broadcast their internet radio, and directly engage with their audience in security, without suppressive algorithms getting in the way, worrying about strikes, being shadowbanned, or getting canceled. AudioStage.io empowers the new era of music. LS: What would you say are the necessary skills for becoming a successful fashion designer and CEO? SC: As my guy, Nipsey Hussle, recites, HARD WORK & DEDICATION. You will also need to have a VISION. CEOs don’t sleep, PASSION and MOTIVATION. Don’t look at the money right away. Build your foundation first and foremost, then start your engine. Contact Suave Churchill at vpchurchillfashion@gmail.com, my label app download in your app store is EKJ Entertainment. The Amen Corner-Vol6 by Nayomi Charnelle

Promises by Maverick City Limits This is absolutely the most powerful song that gives us so much comfort and assurance about God’s promises and presents. The first time I heard this song, I couldn’t help but sing along although I didn’t know the words. The melody is just so alluring and provides so much hope. The two lead singers, Joe L. Barnes and Naomi Raine have the most captivating voices on the planet. When the choir is added to their voices, it is simply amazing! The bridge of the song states “I put my faith In Jesus, my anchor to the ground, my hope and my foundation, he’ll never let me down. Great is your faithfulness”. This speaks to how great God is and will continue to be. When we place our faith in Him, there is nothing that can’t be done. We serve a mighty God and there is nothing too hard for Him. As long as we have the faith the size of a mustard seed, mountains will move.

Island Queen by Vanessa Riley Island Queen is the #1 selling book at Riches In Reading for (3) weeks. An awesome historical fiction story based on Dorothy Kirwan Thomas. Born into slavery on the tiny Caribbean island of Monserrat, Doll bought her freedom—and that of her sister and her mother—from her Irish planter father and built a legacy of wealth and power as an entrepreneur, merchant, hotelier, and planter that extended from the marketplaces and sugar plantations of Dominica and Barbados to a glittering luxury hotel in Demerara on the South American continent. Vanessa Riley’s novel brings Doll to vivid life as she rises above the harsh realities of slavery and colonialism by working the system and leveraging the competing attentions of the men in her life: a restless shipping merchant, Joseph Thomas; a wealthy planter hiding a secret, John Coseveldt Cells; and a roguish naval captain who will later become King William IV of England. From the bustling port cities of the West Indies to the forbidding drawing rooms of London’s elite, Island Queen is a sweeping epic of an adventurer and a survivor who answered to no one but herself as she rose to power and autonomy against all odds, defying rigid eighteenth-century morality and the oppression of women as well as people of color. It is an unforgettable portrait of a true larger-than-life woman who made her mark on history.

For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf by Ntozake Shange This powerful choreopoem released almost 25 years ago, explores different topics that plague women of color; abortion, STD’s, rape, unplanned pregnancy, etc. From its inception in 1974 to its critical success on Broadway, this work has excited and inspired audiences all over the country. Passionate and fearless, Shange’s words reveal what it means to be of color and female in the 20th century. Here is the complete text, with stage directions, of a groundbreaking dramatic prose poem.

Acting with Intention Interview by David R. Navarro

David R. Navarro: Tell us a little bit about yourself? Kevin Chambers: I’m a hard working, career and goal oriented person. I value family, friends, and integrity. I’m all about positivity, gratitude, and helping as many people as I can. I was adopted from South Korea at 3 months and grew up in Michigan. I started martial arts when I was 3, and have been studying ever since. I placed 1st in the state of Michigan for Forms and Sparring. Plus 2nd in the state for weapons at the age of 12. After graduating High School, I moved to Los Angeles and attended the Theater Academy a 3 year actors conservatory located on L.A.C.C. campus. I traveled the world for a play I was apart of called Anton’s Uncle’s including Edinburgh, Scotland and London. While acting I also got into stunts and have worked on the TV show, Deputy on Fox. I’m always striving to be a better person everyday and to help out as many people as I can. DN: How long have you been in the film industry? KC: I’ve been in the film industry for 13 years. DN: What made you decide to be serious about acting? KC: I started pursuing acting at 16 and I’ve never looked back. I started with reading as many books as I could on the art of acting and everything I could find about the film industry. While I was senior in High School, I took an acting class at G.R.C.C. in a duel enrollment program. I moved out to LA when I was 20 and immediately began college for acting. DN: Which people or books have had the most influence on your career and why? KC: My grandma has been a huge influence for me. She had her own costume store when I was growing up and every Halloween I was at least 3 different characters. I know that was a spark for me that has led me to acting. DN: What would you say is the #1 key to success in the film industry? KC: Hahaha. There isn’t one! If there were, more people would be doing it. People have slept their way to the top, YouTubers have an enormous following they are given a tv show or are put into films, or the traditional way I was taught. Go get training, get on set experience, constantly audition and sharpen your

tools. Be professional and prepared all the time. Can you give us some examples of things you are doing or have done to grow your fanbase? KC: Honestly, my fan base has grown organically. I haven’t bought any fans. I just keep posting about my work and what I’m doing in my life. Talk about the biggest failure you’ve had. What did you learn from it? KC: Taking a break from martial arts when I was a child due to my parents divorce. I learned to take advantage of the time I have. The present moment is what’s most important. What advice can you give other individuals who want to follow in your footsteps? KC: Get some great training in acting and constantly be working on your art. Be the light you want to see in others. Constantly give thanks and pay attention to your surroundings. Make your decisions based off of people’s actions not their words. Constantly network, because you never know who will be the next big thing. What does a typical day in your week look like? KC: Keeping my daily routine of nutrition to start the morning. This consists of taking my vitamins, a spoonful of extra virgin

olive oil with lemon, and a protein shake. Responding to emails. Working on auditions when they come in. Going to the gym to go train in martial arts, some weight lifting, and cardio. DN: What keeps you going when things get tough in the business? KC: The fact that any job, any gig can literally change your life. DN: Please list your website and/or your social media platforms. Facebook: Kevin Chambers Instagram: Thekevchambers TikTok and SC: Thekevchambers DN: Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you? KC: This industry is filled with ups and downs, more downs than ups. This career isn’t for those who can’t deal with rejection, financial instability, and egotistical people who can be very cruel. If you want to obtain the level of success you want in your mind, then you have to do it yourself. However anything is possible, who knows maybe we will end up working together! Tell us a little bit about yourself? My name is Joe Little III, I’m the lead singer of the 90’s R&B group, the Rude Boys and known for the #1 Billboard Award Winning Smash Hit Song “Written All Over Your Face.” I love to sing, I love to perform and I love to take care of my family. I’m also thankful to the Most High, the Creator of life and for all that he has blessed me with. How long have you been involved in the music industry? Professionally, I have been in the business since 1990 when my first album “Rude Awakening” came out on Atlantic Records. So, it’s been thirty-one years. What made you decide to be serious about music? Who are your major music influences? What started me to be serious about music is that I always felt it inside, I always felt that music, new music, old music, singing and writing was me ever since age 5. Major influences: Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra and Gerald Levert. I know you have worked with many talented artists/celebrities. Can you tell us 1 to 2 of your favorite stories? Definitely, the Aretha Franklin story. Aretha requested me to sing a duet with her and I was amazed that she would even think about little ol me. I didn’t even know that she knew who I was. I studied her as a kid listening to her Gospel & R&B Music albums. I was just blown away that she would even consider me or even sing with me. Being in the studio working with her, it was just an amazing time, and I now have an unreleased song with the Queen of Soul titled “Only You” written & produced by Brian Alexander Morgan. What is it like being a Multi-Platinum Songwriter to you? It’s great because I love expressing my lyrics and my experiences, I love combining my lyrics and melodies, its amazing to just be able to create. It’s like making a baby with the music.

Tell us about your most favorite song you have written? I would definitely say “Are you Lonely for Me” which went #1 on the R&B Billboard Charts and was my first number one song as a writer and producer. Also “All of Me” my current single & video being released on Friday, August 27, 2021. Which people or books have had the most influence on your career and why? Gerald Levert because he opened up the doors, he opened up the gates for me to be heard and for me to express my talent. So, definitely Gerald and he is deeply missed. What would you say is the #1 key to success in the music industry? Being dedicated to your craft and to keep growing with it, being consistent and nurturing it. The key to longevity is consistency. You have to be in the studio writing and recording. You have to work out, be healthy and you have to take care of yourself. Self care/Self Love taking care of yourself mentally, physically and spiritually. Does your music come from a place of passion or a place of necessity? A place of passion. It’s in my soul, it’s in my spirit, I love it. It’s me, it’s who I am, its my most truest expression.

and videos, my coffee company (Urbean Joe Coffee) and my Self Love movement. What is the song you sing in the shower? I don’t sing in the shower, I listen to music in the shower. What advice can you give other individuals who want to follow in your footsteps? If music is what they love, then just be dedicated and be serious about it. It will take care of you if you take care of it. In this game of music what you put into it, you will get out of it. I can’t guarantee that somebody will blow up, but you will be good at it. Always remember real success is within yourself and not out here. Even if people never make it, it doesn’t mean their not good. Tell us why they call you, Joey Beanz? Because of my coffee company, because I invested into the coffee business and people started calling me Beanz or Joey Beanz. Any new projects in the works you can talk about? Get Lit With King Interview by King Brooks

I have known Lynette since 2013 when we met in a book group called FB Pageturners. It has been a great joy to watch her go from reader to being a published author. I sat down with her to discuss Unveiled: The Companion book. King Brooks: Congrats..on your companion guide to ‘Unveiled.’ Tell the readers about it? Lynette Shelton: Thank you so much King! Unveiled: Going Beyond the Pain is a study and companion to our first book, Unveiled: Unmasking the Pain. Our readers will learn different ways to face and deal with the many issues that can keep them bound, sad, broken, depressed, and hurting. The book addresses the art and beauty of forgiveness which will open up the way for seeking a renewed mind and peaceful spirit. These powerful writings will usher in meditation and words of encouragement along with a space to write down thoughts, ideas, and suggestions in taking the steps needed to be Unveiled. Both books can be found on Amazon.com. KB: Where did the inspiration for this companion guide come from? LS: I can’t take the credit. All hail goes to Audra Blyther of Divine Treasure Publishing is the brains behind the Unveiled Movement. Audra is a passionate and positive force in her community, uplifting women to live Unveiled and beyond their pain. This companion follows the first book due to a need to keep the conversation and healing going while letting go of the masks that so many of us wear due to pain and suffering. The companion is also a study guide to allow our readers to dig in deeper to pull back the dark layers of their lives to become Unveiled. For this mission alone, I am grateful to be a contributor. Thank you Audra. KB: Please give the readers a brief bio on you and as a writer/person? LS: I am 59 years old and a native of Tacoma, Washington currently residing in Miami, Florida. Monkey Wrench Smokehouse 21 S. Main Street Travelers Rest SC 29690 864-610-2236 Who knew that downtown Travelers Rest, South Carolina had so much life. One of my girlfriends asked me to come hang out recently. It was a long work day but I said, “why not?” So this is where we ended up in downtown TR South Carolina. I walked in and people were everywhere! The setting was very laid back and there was a lot of chatter, but not too much that you couldn’t hear your neighbor speaking. It was a very casual atmosphere and there was even places to sit outside to view the Swamp Rabbit Trail that’s very popular in this area. Since, I am a single woman on a budget, I chose the appetizer selection. It was very fulfilling with great flavor! My choice on a budget at the Monkey Wrench Smokehouse included: Aged Cheddar & Fresno Chili Pimento Cheese that had a perfect taste of sharp with six wood grilled baguettes to put the spread on. ($6) Huge side salad with radish, carrot cucumber, grape, tomato, toasted sunflower seeds, and an amazing flavor of a creamy lemon herb dressing. ($4) This was not bad at all for $10, plus tip! If you are looking to go in a relaxed setting for cocktails, appetizers, or a meal, be sure to visit the Monkey Wrench. Focusforwardwithrobin.com Tasteful Tips &Trips food Blog
