If the weather allows, it’s always fun to take the short drive north to Brookings and spend the day at the Children’s Museum of South Dakota. Hands-on fun will leave you wondering how time can fly by so fast.
If this list hasn’t given you enough ideas, maybe you want to head over to County Fair & the Brandon Pizza Ranch. Fill up your plates on the All You Can Eat Pizza & Chicken buffet and then burn off all of those calories at County Fair playing games.
Indoor Family Fun • Bring the snow inside. Use a
Rubbermaid tote and scoop up some snow for your children to enjoy. Dye some water with simple food coloring and put it into a squirt bottle to color the snow! Use cups and spoons to make your very own snow cone fun.
• Get in the kitchen. Baking cookies,
cupcakes or brownies is a fun activity when the kids can do most of the work…especially the decorating! Fair warning…this can get messy- but the memories you’ll make will be worth it!
• Throw a party! Do you have old or If you’re looking for a spot where you can not only have fun, but learn, the Washington Pavilion is the place to be! Bring out your inner scientist while visiting the incredible Kirby Science Center. Don’t forget to check out a movie at the IMAX theater while you are there!

extra party supplies laying around somewhere? Let your kids decorate with streamers and balloons…they could even craft up some snow day party signs. Let them take the lead, it will be exciting for them to oversee the party planning details.
