The greenery, vintage bottles and stationery were everything we very much adored, and the abundance of natural light definitely got our photographer beaming. enchanted forest What a perfectly crisp and clean colour palette! Mega admitted that her dream wedding was inspired by the Twilight movies, which explains the forest venue. Besides white flowers with an abundance of leafy greenery, other decorative elements included wooden textures and finishes (to complement the surroundings), lace, twine, burlap, and small gilded touches to bring everything together. Some might think that too many small details would get lost in the woods, but it was quite the opposite – from the leaf signs and gilded candlesticks to the dream catchers and twine hangings, it was all so beautiful.

CEREMONY Surrounded by nature, the newlyweds exchanged their vows in a quiet forest clearing. A pair of wooden doors served as the entrance to the aisle, where the bride walked towards her groom for their Buddhist wedding ritual. This wedding proves that traditional ceremonies do not have to restrict you from achieving that romantic look and feel.

Gunung Pancar, Bogor, West Java Set on a mountain in West Java, this dreamy forest venue was an unusual choice, but was the epitome of serenity and beauty. While it might seem that the lack of sunlight would be an issue for photos, the results were a sepia-wash dream, adding romance and drama to the overall effect.

RECEPTION Once night fell, the reception came alive with a combination of fairy lights and glamorous chandeliers. Almost straight out of a movie set, the tables were set with lush greenery and white flowers, while rustic chandeliers with small gilded ornaments hung overhead. The entire marquee was draped with cloth for a dramatic touch, and decorated with hanging ferns and other lush greens, dream catchers, and woven hangings. What a night to remember!

The coolness of the greens and forest surroundings were beautifully offset by the warmth of the wooden textures and shades of brown. Together with the twine, rattan, wooden and brick elements, the entire affair felt more like a cosy gathering. Punctuating the cool and warm palette were gilded and gold ornaments that were subtle enough to give it all an air of elegance.

CEREMONY Mandy: “I wanted my guests to feel like they were at a modern, fun wedding celebration, rather than a traditional and stiff ceremony, so we changed some things up.” Despite the ceremony being an open-air affair, the hanging ornaments gave the illusion of a ceiling. But the main event (aside from the vow exchange, of course) was the unique doughnut wall in lieu of a floral arch. The wall of desserts perfectly complemented the sweet ceremony and created a more relaxed vibe for the newlyweds, their bridal party, and friends and family. We also loved the bride’s dress choice – short with a sheer maxi skirt overlay, which was chic, casual and sweet!

Tamarind Springs, Ampang You’d never guess that Tamarind Springs is right on the edge of the bustling city of Kuala Lumpur. Only a 15-minute drive from the heart of town, this venue is like a slice of nature squirrelled away. The lush surrounds are a visual feast of serenity and tranquillity. Offering not just a forest backdrop, this venue also has spaces for intimate celebrations such as this one.

RECEPTION Long picnic tables were used for the casual celebration, and in lieu of lush tablescapes, the couple opted for a hanging garden overhead, and kept the tables simple with wooden coasters, twine and lace jars with flowers in them, and gilded candelabras on a blush table runner. This ensured that it wasn’t too cluttered, while making it easier for the guests to share food and partake in the merriment.

muted earth tones From the bride’s bouquet and the flowers to the little glass vases and tablescapes, and even the littlest details such as the ring box, everything was 100% DIY. Keeping things as natural as possible with a muted earth palette of brown, beige and blush, the newlyweds played with a variety of textures such as dried leaves and flowers to bring out their theme. Floral elements were in abundance, including the bride’s hair accessory and dramatic bouquet. Everything else was kept simple, allowing the little details to add flair and a touch of elegance.

CEREMONY The high iron gates and venue entrance were reminiscent of a European park, and as the bride walked down the aisle, it was as if she were walking into a sanctuary. In lieu of a floral arch, the couple opted for a triangular backdrop with dried leaves and hay set against the backdrop of a sprawling ivy wall, and we must say there is something about an ivy-covered wall that also adds romance. What a beautifully intimate affair with only the newlyweds’ nearest and dearest in attendance.

Rowan & Parsley, Johor Bahru A juxtaposition of old and new, nature and industrial, wood and steel, this venue was secret garden meets modern loft. Hui Min: “After confirming the wedding date, we had to source a venue that had a rustic yet green ambience. After some research, we decided to go for Rowan & Parsley – their environment and interior design were perfect for our concept, and it saved us some effort on our décor. Bonus: The food was delicious! So we had a simple ROM at the garden of the café followed by a cosy dinner.”

RECEPTION Sticking to the theme of the venue, lots of flowers and a mixture of wooden textures and vintage details all helped to create a secret garden indoors. The hanging bunches of dried leaves gave the illusion of a lower ceiling, while the tablescapes were kept simple with candles, clear glasses, and sprigs of baby’s breath and ferns. The food was served buffet style, which added to the cosy atmosphere.

bright + rustic All the elements of this wedding came together in the most unexpected way. A garden wedding on a rooftop that was partially under cover, it featured a variety of wooden textures, as well as steel and glass elements from the venue. The rustic dÊcor was perfectly punctuated by the dreamy, rich colours of wildflowers, from the deep red hues of the bride’s bouquet to the ferns and deep rouge of the cake. Adding flair were the floral table centrepieces that ran down the middle of the tables. What better way to create a garden indoors than to have flowers everywhere? The bride even wove some into her hairdo.
CEREMONY Set against a brick wall backdrop and flanked with pretty fairy lights, the ceremony saw the bride walk down an AstroTurf aisle that was lined with beautiful wildflower arrangements. Guests witnessed the newlyweds exchanging their sweet vows outdoors, as the glasshouse was partially covered, allowing for plenty of sunlight and giving the bride and groom a beautiful day. The natural light only made the entire solemnisation ceremony all the more radiant! Chia Yan: “Having a garden wedding has been my dream since I was young. However, Malaysia’s weather always has us sweating through our gorgeous gowns and suits. Searching for a suitable venue was not an easy task, until MUO Boutique Hotel officially launched early in the year. The moment we saw the venue, we fell in love with it!”

RECEPTION Keeping the background neutral but with more texture added, the reception featured a range of decorative floral elements, from the brightly coloured dessert spread to the lush table centrepieces. With a small intimate wedding (there were only 50 guests!), the newlyweds positively glowed as they celebrated their union with beloved family and friends.

his looks like something out of a movie, except the couple are not professional actors. The team at Filming Art Cinematography came up with an interesting plotline and,
armed with their great cinematography skills, definitely set the stage right for this dramatic shoot. Carefully crafted and stitched together, this pictoric video will put your regular bridal portrait reel to shame. You must watch this to believe us. The team from Filming Art Cinematography, as well as the bride Jocelyn, share what transpired behind the scenes. Who came out with the concept? Filming Art Cinematography: Our film director Yiewin Kang came up with this brilliant concept. Why the concept of war? Filming Art Cinematography: With this new trend of cinephotography, we create a unique theme and characters for the couple to make an interesting fictional story instead of the regular bridal portraits. Who did the styling for the clothing and set up? Filming Art Cinematography: Nana Natalie from our team styled it, but of course in collaboration with the bride. How long did you take to do the whole shoot? Jocelyn: It was 18 hours in total. The shoot was quite tiring actually, but ultimately satisfying and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire process. Are you happy with the outcome of the photo shoot? Jocelyn: We were in awe of the outcome; it far exceeded our expectations.

When it comes to candid photos and special moments, having two perspectives yields a more beautiful and meaningful result. Other than that, Guan Hui’s role is to cull/edit photos, reply emails, meet couples, plan and schedule shoots, etc. Silvia’s role is to do final touch ups to the pictures, prepare them all the way until the packaging stage, and keep all our social media updated. What are your other interests besides photography? We love to travel and binge on Netflix or other TV series while cuddling on the sofa.
