The author of this picture book is Eriko Nakagawa. She has published numerous other books and has won numerous awards. She is also known for writing the song Sanpo in the movie My Neighbor Totoro. Guri-to-Gura has been translated into 10 languages to date. In the way, this is book is loved by many people all over the world. Especially popular with young people. Most Japanese would have read it once when they were little. My favorite scene is when Guri and Gura worked hard to bake the castella. Their body size is much smaller than a frying pan and they are so cute. And the where the animals gathered and everyone was eating castella, it was also very relaxing.
When I read this book again after a long time, I found out why so many people want to read it. It is a picture book that even adults can enjoy and heal, so I definitely want everyone to read.
