New owners of longtime food vendor are well-known to the Fair By Travis Mounts TSnews
One longtime food vendor has been sold to another longtime food vendor, and customers likely won’t notice any changes. M&M Concessions and owners Mike and Melanie Ossman have for years been serving up roasted corn and cherry limeades to long lines of people at the Sedgwick County Fair. They are now owners of Aussie Cakes, the bright orange food trailer with funnel cakes, onion blossoms and Navajo tacos. For the Ossmans, the Sedgwick County Fair is a longtime tradition. They have been coming to the Fair for about 25 years. “Mike and I can’t remember the first year we did it,” Melanie said. ous owners, Buster and Cheryl Johnson, have been talking about the sale for some time. The deal was completed in December. “It’s going to be the same trailer that was there,” Mike said. “We’ll keep things exactly the same.” Melanie said that the cherry limeades the M&M Concessions are known for will now be available at Aussie Cakes, too. “Those things go faster more than anything. It’s the exact same recipe my dad came up with 25 years ago,” Mike said. The Johnsons will continue helping out during the Fair, as well. The Sedgwick County Fair will be the first event with the Ossmans as the new owners. It has been an amicable deal, and one that will allow the Johnsons to move into retirement. The Ossmans are excited to expand their relationship with the Fair, and say they have a great relationship with the Fair. “We always look forward to going to the Sedgwick County Fair,” Mike said.
