Around mid-October, fall colors are on full display in our local parks. The splendid trees frame the boathouse at Carondelet Park, the Pagoda across from the MUNY at Forest Park and the Gateway Arch grounds. For a more unique view of the fall landscape, check out Chloë Bass’s Wayfinding installation, which consists of thirty signs throughout the Pulitzer Arts Foundation’s outdoor spaces. The exhibit ends Oct. 31.

family time

Watching the grandkids for a weekend? The season hosts plenty of events that are fun for all ages. On the weekends of October, you and your family can decorate pumpkins, find your way through the corn maze and snack on kettle corn by the Clydesdales at Grant’s Farm’s Fall Fest. Usual attractions such as the animal exhibits and Beer Garden also will be open. Des Peres Park also offers an annual event that your family will want to add to their fall traditions. At the Pumpkin Glow, your family can show off their Jack-O-Lantern skills by floating them on the Des Peres Pond. Bring your own picnic basket and s’mores supplies to roast over the campfire while watching the pumpkins light up the water.
