Council acts to add jobs

Oxnard-- To meet staffing requirements for purposes including council approved projects, regulatory compliance, improved customer service, and employee safety, the council approved full-time equivalent positions and position reclassifications on Dec 15. The resolution added 23 full-time equivalent positions and reclassified eight full-time n Council acts, see page 11

By Chris Frost chris@tricountysentry.com Oxnard-- The Police Athletic League (PAL) in Oxnard concluded its toy giveaway, Dec. 19, at College Park with Santa’s Workshop.

T

HE drive-thru event was hugely successful, as attendees lined up for over an hour with their families to get their treats and

wave to Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa was ready as residents got a raucous, ho, ho, ho as they drove by. The workshop had plenty of volunteers, as each person had their job, did it well, and worked together as a team to make the kids and parents smile. The workshop was Covid-19 safe, as volunteers had facemasks and shields to n Santa’s workshop , see page 6

MIG Inc to design and engineer Campus Park By Chris Frost chris@tricountysentry.com Oxnard-- The Oxnard City Council awarded and authorized the Mayor to execute Agreement A-8248 with MIG Inc for $1,099,938.75 for Landscape Architecture and Engineering Design Services for the Campus Park Activation Project. The park has sat dormant, unutilized, and vacant for many years and blighted the community.

The project began moving forward when the city received an $8.5 million grant from the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program. The city held six workshops before applying for the money with community input in June and July of 2019. The city also engaged its residents through bilingual flyers, outreach through its social media n Campus Park, see page 11
