AMILIES traveled through the Botanical Gardens and marveled at the beauty and natural foliage. The groups followed social distancing guidelines, brought bottles of water, and also brought their furry four-legged friends to complete the day and get a great workout. The abandoned four-story office building on Channel Islands Boulevard and Saviers Road will stand and not be taken down for a 7-11.
Oxnard-- In its final meeting before the August recess, Jul 31, the Oxnard City Council unanimously upheld the Planning Commission’s decision to deny a special use permit for a 7-11 convenience store at 2900 Saviers Road. The developer owns the 7-11 property at 3280 Saviers Road, which operates with a type 21 alcohol license.
The proposal would have demolished an existing four-story office building at the corner of Channel Islands Boulevard and Saviers Road and open a one-story convenience store with 12 fuel pumps with improved landscaping and parking. The Planning Commission first heard about the project on Sept 19, 2019. and made a motion of intent to deny the project because the developer could not make all the findings to grant the special use project.
The request got continued until Oct 19, 2019, and the commission voted 4-0, with three commissioners absent to deny the project. The applicant filed an appeal on Nov 4, 2019, and that got continued for 60 days. On Jun 1, 2020, the applicant requested the city council hear the matter.
