ESIDENTS registered in advance, and then they drove to the park and got a 13-pound (average) turkey loaded into their trunk. Officers and Oxnard Parks and Recreation staff members played turkey ambassadors with a smile as the team continues to be goodwill ambassadors throughout the city. Recreation Supervisor Jessy Tapia attended the event and said every year Oxnard PAL hosts a Thanksgiving dinner at their youth centers, which was canceled in 2020 because of Covid-19. “What we’re doing is giving away 500 turkeys across three locations that we serve,” he said. “Yesterday, (Nov 19), we had our PAL location, today, we’re at Colonia at Del Sol, and tomorrow we’ll be at n Turkey, see page 7

Eviction crisis town hall starts an important discussion By Chris Frost chris@tricountysentry.com Oxnard-- The City of Oxnard heard a robust discussion about the upcoming eviction crisis and what it can mean for the city. Panelists offered hard data and spoke about what can be done to curb the problem. The meeting also had attendees commenting, and the
group talked out different ideas on the topic and how to fix the situation. Dr. Sunghee Nam, a member of the sociology department at California State University Channel Islands, said the panelists come from diverse backgrounds and viewpoints. “I know they all volunteered for this discussion because they care about this community,
especially those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged,” she said. “We all believe in this great community, Ventura County, affordable housing for all, and living a humane life with dignity, should be provided.
