Young Adults Conference
AN IMPECCABLY TIMED GATHERING
YOUNG ADULTS
The long-awaited Young Adult (YA) event, AWAKEN, finally happened after more than two years of social distancing during the pandemic. More than 200 Trinitarians and oikos gathered on a rainy Sunday afternoon for AWAKEN on May 15, for a day of joyful fellowship. The plan for AWAKEN was scheduled to be held in May 2021, but it was cancelled due to the exponential surge of COVID-19 cases. The YAs were very disappointed. When the date was set for AWAKEN to be held on May 15 this year, it was done in faith without knowing that the government would loosen restrictions two weeks prior to the event day.
Nicholas Ang, who was part of the AWAKEN planning committee, testified, “furthermore we did not know this prior, so God did postpone the event for a reason and provided an impeccable time for AWAKEN to take place successfully!” This was a breakthrough from God that the YAs experienced: to be able to have activities in big groups.
AWAKEN TO LIFE
AWAKEN started off with a mass game in the Chapel at Trinity@Paya Lebar where participants shared their thoughts with peers on different life topics. These topics ranged from work and life’s worries to dating and relationships.
“COVID isolated and made life more challenging for many, so it’s great to see many young adults value a thriving life with God and church community,” said Jared Choo from Area 4.
In view of such challenges, Lead Pastor Designate Gerald Tan shared with the young adults from John 10:10 that God has called all of them to live an abundant life – filled with joy, hope and victory. “It was a powerful reminder and a timely encouragement,” said AWAKEN committee member Esther Neoh.
AWAKEN TO COMMUNITY
After the games and Pastor Gerald’s message, the young adults got into smaller groups to deepen connections through fun-filled activities. Some groups went sightseeing at Haji Lane and Coney Island while others sweat it out at a trampoline park and rock-climbing centers. Others participated in laser tag, mini golf, coin pouch-making, and even a floral arrangement workshop led by Pastor Wendy Ong and Pastor Lee Mei Yee.
Jared King from Area 4 brought three pre-believing friends and joined others in bowling. He shared, "it was heartening to see other Trinitarians connecting and bonding with my oikos. This made a good impression on my oikos and opened their heart towards more such events with church community.”
AWAKEN TO GOD
As hearts were awakened to God, four people gave and rededicated their lives to Jesus. Through this meaningful event, relationships among the brothers and sisters have deepened.
They were encouraged to continue to spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together (Hebrews 10:24-25).
HOW CAN LOVE BE EXPRESSED?
CHINESE MINISTRY
BY CINDY HOR
爱要怎么说 (ài yào zěn me shuō) is translated as “how can love be expressed?” In our Asian culture, it can be challenging for fathers to express love to their children. The same can be true for children to express love to their fathers.
Artistes Darren Lim & Evelyn Tan Trinity’s Chinese Ministry created the opportunity for Trinitarians to invite their Mandarin-speaking fathers to hear local artistes Darren Lim, Evelyn Tan and Rayson Tan share their testimonies at the Father’s Day evangelistic event.
The service halls were packed. What a beautiful sight it was to see Trinitarians with their loved ones and oikos. Darren did not live with his father when he was young. He never experienced a father’s love. In fact, his father was like a stranger to him. By His grace, our God is the God who heals our past. Today, Darren and his father’s relationship is restored.
As Darren shared his testimony of restoration of his father-son relationship with his own father, it struck a similar chord with Trinitarian Tan Wei Hao. He also did not have a close relationship with his father. Being raised by his grandmother, he never had the chance to stay with his father. With a desire to share God’s love and bring restoration to their relationship, he took a step of faith and invited his father for the event and his father came.
Artiste Rayson Tan
Darren and Evelyn shared the time when they were living on the boat with their children. They were sailing in Koh Samui when they experienced the tallest waves ever seen in their lives. Imagine six to seven meters high of waves crashing in. Despite the storm, God gave them peace and direction. When Darren prayed, God led him to navigate the boat in a safe direction and got his family out of danger.
There is no storm that God cannot still, no circumstance that He cannot overcome. William brought his 90-year-old father, who was wheelchair bound, back to church once again. His father had not been able to attend church for quite a long time because of medical conditions. At the service, his father was reconnected to God through faith and decided to go for water baptism at the end of this year.
Sometimes, we may think that God only looks out for us when we believe in Him. On the contrary, the Bible tells us in 1 John 4:10, “He loved us long before we loved him.” For Artiste Rayson Tan, he shared how God saved him in his time of need even before he knew Jesus. After becoming a Christian, he was no longer superstitious, but he was able to fully entrust his life in God’s hands.
We saw how God led Margaret and her sister who is part of the English congregation to call and invite their friend the night before the event. Their friend had come for a previous Easter production but did not receive Jesus then. Truly if we do not give up, we will reap a reward! That day when the altar call was given, their friend gave his life to Jesus.
We thank God for 58 first-time visitors who came to join us at Trinity@Paya Lebar and Trinity@Bukit Batok. Nine people accepted Jesus into their hearts.
As we continue to pray for our oikos and loved ones, let us not give up at inviting them to our church services and evangelistic events even though sometimes we may face rejection. Be a faithful Sower for God’s Kingdom. When the time is right, God will make the harvest happen.
UNITING THE WORLD TO PRAY FOR REVIVAL
GLOBAL CONCERT OF PRAYERS 2022
120 nations joined in this year’s Global Concert of Prayers (GCOP), themed Fires of Revival as it was broadcasted live on trinitybroadcast.tv across the world for 50 hours.
Organized by the World Assemblies of God Fellowship (WAGF), Rev Dr David Mohan, Acting Chairman of WAGF opened the event in India at 8pm (Singapore Time) on June 28.
He urged congregants to worship and pray for a great revival to come upon the world. Among other things, he highlighted the need to pray for unity of the global Assembly of God (AG) movement which consists of about 377,000 churches.
Lead Pastor Dominic Yeo, General Superintendent of AG Singapore and chairman of the GCOP 2022 organizing committee, said, “it was exciting to see God’s Word in Joel 2 come to pass as the Holy Spirit fell on believers across the world transcending time and space to pray with incredible unity.”
He added, “God is looking for men and women to be builders of walls. As we engage in prayers together, we are repairing the broken walls of morality, families and relationships, the next generation, and self-esteem; by setting it on the proper foundation of Christ Jesus and His finished work. As walls are repaired, revival breaks out.”

GCOP’S SINGAPORE SESSION
Pastors and leaders of various AG Singapore churches attended onsite at Trinity@Paya Lebar at 11am on Wednesday, June 29.
Pastor Angie Chan of Faith Assembly of God said, “Everyone is realigning and recalibrating their lives in this endemic. With the corporate body of Christ coming together to pray and worship in Singapore for GCOP 2022, we are moving forward and repositioning ourselves as God’s generals for His will for such a time as this.”
Shanna Twang, a 22-year-old Trinitarian, shared, “I was recently pondering about the ingredients for revival: a broken heart, contrite spirit, and faith to follow where the Holy Spirit is leading. That was lived out in GCOP 2022. During Singapore’s onsite segment at Trinity@Paya Lebar, I sensed a new excitement in the presence of God as we came before Him simply as we are.”
Wilson Phang, Chaplain of Teen Challenge, said: “GCOP 2022 was the first time since COVID-19 that we have been able to gather physically to pray in Singapore alongside the global church. By humbling ourselves before God and raising one voice unto Him, He will ignite fires of revivals in individuals, across the nations, and in the Body of Christ globally.” CLOSING SESSION OF GCOP
In the closing session, Pastor Dominic exhorted, “My prayer for the church is that the fire of God will keep burning in us until Jesus returns. Let us assume the responsibility to keep the fire of prayer burning.”
Trinitarian Desmond Choo said, “GCOP 2022 truly impacted me. I was so happy to see God moving across nations like Nepal. At the closing session, I was greatly moved in the Spirit to continue being passionate for His Kingdom and be a ‘thermostat’ for Jesus!”
Trinitarian Mary Nelson shared, “Many of my friends all over the world also watched GCOP 2022 online and were refreshed with the desire to commit to prayer and reach out to others around them.”
GCOP 2022 may have ended, but let’s keep on praying and fanning the flames of revival! The recordings of all 50 hours of prayer are available on demand at www.trinitybroadcast.tv.
THE PANTRY REOPENS
BY WISELY ONG
THE PANTRY HAS REOPENED ON JUNE 4 AFTER A LONG HIATUS. RENOWNED FOR ITS CRISPY, BEAUTIFULLY BROWNED TOAST, AND ROASTED AROMATIC COFFEE, THE PANTRY HAS MADE MANY TRINITARIANS’ HEARTS AND TUMMIES FULL.
The Pantry was birthed from a desire to provide Trinitarians and visitors with refreshments pre- and post-service, and to facilitate fellowship.
The Pantry gives nothing but the best to Trinitarians. Quality was key. The iconic kaya and butter toast with coffee were carefully curated.
I dropped by to experience the goodness myself. Taking a piece of the toast, nice grill marks were spotted. The delectable filling peeked through invitingly at the sides. Upon my first bite, the toast instantly crumbled with a crisp sound. The sweet kaya and savory butter blended well. The creamy peanut butter flavor was popular too.
Occasionally, The Pantry serves seasonal food items such as croissants and cheesecakes, so do keep your eyes peeled. Also, the legendary hotdog may be returning soon. Beyond a place that provides food, many lives were touched here. Volunteers served tirelessly with a smile despite an endless queue.
There was once an elderly lady who was new to Trinity. She was hungry but did not have much money to buy food. Operations Leader Jason Yeong recounted, “We blessed her with some toast and drink, and her face lit up. It was a great opportunity to show God’s love.”
Trinitarians who are serving in a primary Ministry Expression such as celebration host, traffic marsal or nursery helper, are welcome to join the service team at The Pantry. Register through the Trinity app.
Come visit The Pantry with your Connect Group or guests before or after our church services.
