Campus Summer Track

OFFERING GOD MY SUMMER HOLIDAYS

BY DANIEL PANG

It is common for campus students to do a short work stint during the summer holidays. Surrendering my summer holidays to God turned out to be better than my imagination.

11 Campus Students embarked on the second iteration of Campus Summer Track (CST) From May 9 to July 8 – a nine-week internship program centered on discipleship and enriching work in the various departments within the church office.

Having been a Trinitarian all my life, I was always curious about the workings within the church. I deeply yearned to gain godly wisdom during the span of the nine-week CST program so that I can navigate life in the marketplace without conforming to society after graduation.

Through Alphatrack and extended times of being in His presence, I realized God placed in me a desire to be His mouthpiece and shepherd to His sheep.

It was a divine set up by God to be assigned to Corporate Communications department

(Comms) in Trinity. It was my first choice! Comms’ mission is to be the mouthpiece of God through Lead Pastor Dominic Yeo. I was excited that this assignment is aligned with God’s purpose for my life!

I was tasked with editorial work and was able to use my writing skills cultivated as a history major in NTU to serve the church.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH LEADERSHIP PASTORS

One of the tremendous privileges of being a part of the CST program, is the opportunity to have Questions and Answers (Q&As) sessions with the leadership pastors of our church. One very memorable session was Prayers and Passion taught by Pastor Melvin.

I learned from him that God can birth passions in us through times of prayer. He shared that when he was first assigned to serve in the Children’s Ministry, he was not the most passionate about it. Serving became laborious as a result. Thus, he went into a season of prayer, and God birthed in him a passion to minister to the children with joy! I realized sometimes God places us in a place that we may not comprehend or align with initially. But when we commit to prayer, God will change our hearts and bring us into alignment with His plans.

In one of the Q&A sessions, it was a great honor to ask Lead Pastor Dominic why he is always full of faith. He shared with us the importance not to only depend on human wisdom but seek God’s divine wisdom. One example he cited was the building of Trinity@Paya Lebar. When the Board recommended to sell the Lavender property to fund the building project at Paya Lebar, he exhorted them to trust God for divine provision. As he exercised supernatural faith and trusted God, today we reap the fruits of faith.

Another memorable session was a dialogue session with Lead Pastor Designate Gerald Tan. He shared that true godly success is not determined by human yard sticks and how many achievements we have had, but by giving our life to align with God’s Word in obedience. I have learned to be forward-looking with God’s promises than to be rooted in past victories and become stagnant in faith.

These nine weeks in CST have been so enriching and have truly been an unforgettable experience!
