Susan’s house and various neighbours came out as well as René, who then saw her mother lying on the ground next to the washing line. She hurried to her mother and assisted her in getting on to her feet again. “I was so grateful and showed the men thumbs-up to say thank you! They saw it and then flew away. This to me was proof again in the miraculous ways the Lord looks after us!”

n her wildest dreams a lady in her eighties would never have thought that a cry for help and hurried prayer would be answered nearly instantly and in such a concrete way! The elderly Susan Mentor from Jones Street in Jubilee Park, Uitenhage, was doing her washing and whilst hanging it on the line in her backyard, the line snapped. She lost her momentum and fell forward. “Instinctively I tried to protect my face and glasses and fell with the side of my head hitting the ground like a bag of potatoes,” said Susan Mentor, who has been living in Jones Street for most of her life. “I slowly turned on my back. Then moved my ligaments one by one, figuring out whether something was broken. For some reason I could not get up. Then I said a hurried prayer that the Lord must please send someone to my rescue.” Susan’s daughter René was inside the house and unaware of her mother’s ordeal. According to Susan the next moment she heard a loud noise and a helicopter started circling above her property. It slowly descended and came so close that she could see the two men in the cockpit. “I thought ... wow Lord ... this is an extraordinary way of sending angels!” The helicopter kept on circling above

Breast cancer survivors invited to lunch at Bella’s In celebration of life, all breast cancer survivors are invited by the Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Support Group from Uitenhage to a special Christmas Lunch hosted at Bella’s coffee shop on Saturday, December 6th. Reach for Recovery is a specialised unit assisting patients with or recovering from breast cancer. “Unfortunately, owing to limited resources and funding we cannot reach all the patients. Therefore we have decided to host the lunch as part of our fundraising initiatives,” said Estelle Botha, Chairperson of Reach for Recovery Uitenhage. “We would also like to thank everyone who supported Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Support Group with donations as well as those who contributed to the Bra Drive which was held recently at Willow Dam Garden Centre.” The Bra Drive was initiated by Jacky Sharp and Alida Davis.
“I know how important it is to make a woman feel good again after surgery and what joy and smiles it brings to those who are recipients of these beautiful bras. These bras will be fitted with a pocket to be able to fit silicon prosthesis into it. Therefore we want to especially thank them for all the time they spent on this project. “We greatly appreciate the public’s support. May you remember you have made a difference in the lives of another woman. May your lives be enriched by God’s wonderful love,” said Botha. )Anyone is welcome to join Reach for Recovery’s lunch or tickets can be sponsored to breast cancer patients that cannot afford to attend on this day. Tickets are R100 per person and include a delicious meal, gift and entertainment. This Christian based coffee shop, on December 20th will celebrate its first year in the culinary industry. Rally vehicles will start from Rangers Outdoors from 17:30 with documentation. The first stage is at Jachtvlakte where about 22 rally cars will take to the gravel from 20:30 then follow on to Skiet Innibos and Motherwell stages off the Daniel Pienaar/Motherwell road. The first four stages will be run at night finishing after midnight and resume on Saturday, repeating the previous stages and is expected to finish at 13:30 at Rangers Outdoors. After racing on 90 kilometres of special gravel stages driver and navigator compatibility is put to the ultimate test on uneven gravel roads, particularly at night, where the drivers take instructions from the navigators and drive accordingly, to maintain the balance of speed, consistency and vehicle control. The winner of the championship that will be crowned at the end of the rally, is awarded R50 000 worth of prizes with maximum overall points scored after 6 events in their respective classes of S1-1400, S2-1600 and S32000. Spectators are welcome to follow the rally with new spectator areas created to view the rally cars in action at night and during the day and servicing will take place at the Innibos Lapa.
