elping people to help themselves is teaching them the value of effort and how rewarding it is being innovative with the aim of enriching your circumstances. Mulas Swop Shop, is a local recycling project which was launched last week, encouraging children to collect recyclable items in their community and “swopping” them for much needed items. “I do believe that this can be a life-changing project. It is a value-for-value concept instead

The project is based along the lines of the renowned and awarded JBay Recycling Project which is co-ordinated by Tanja Lategan and in turn was schooled on the idea of the Swap Shop in Hermanus, established by Marilyn van der Velde. “Children are encouraged to collect, sort and deliver recyclable materials to a central point where they are weighed and exchanged for points. They then can swop the points in an on-site shop for toiletries, food, clothing,
