Sam Kidd Fitness champions are members who encourage others to stay active and Sam is one of those members who enjoys sharing his passion for healthy living with others, according to nominee Michelle Kidd. "He is dedicated to showing what being fit is by the physical activities he participates in and the way he nourishes his body. Staying active every day is his motto, to participate in his love of sports, especially Triathlon races, Ironman races require regular training in swimming, biking, and running. These races need a lot of dedication and grit when race day arrives, and he must be fit and ready. Eating clean is a top priority. If you don’t nourish your body well, your body won’t respond to the workouts. During the off-season, Sam enjoys playing hockey twice a week, and if he can fit in a skate during lunch here on campus, he will. A typical day for Sam upon waking up is preparing a healthy smoothie with protein powder and fruit, and getting out of the house to head to the Active Living Centre. Usually, he is at the gym for 6:00 am to swim, running at lunch, and then lifting weights or completing one of the workout classes the ALC offers after work. Sam not only has the motivation for himself but others as well. He encourages his colleagues and friends to eat better by providing smoothie, chicken, and vegetable recipes, and always asking if others want to join him for a workout. Sam is a true Fitness Champion!" –Michelle
