Course info

Our Film Studies and English Literature degree offers you the opportunity to study an exciting mix of different disciplines, as well as introducing you to some of the most significant works of film and literature ever made. More than that, however, you will learn how to research, analyse, debate and create.

Course length: 3yrs full-time 4yrs inc. placement yr

You will encounter a rich and varied range of artistic forms, from popular blockbusters and bestsellers through to challenging avant-garde works and shorter texts in newer, digital formats. Adaptation, participatory media, fandom and global cinema are all part of the curriculum, and you will be given plenty of opportunities to try your hand at different kinds of filmmaking. We place particular emphasis on work experience, enabling you to choose between an optional placement year and third-year placement options, so that you graduate with a valuable mix of creative, analytical and technical skills that will set you up for the next step in your career.
