It was a very wet and at times windy month, I hope that no one had any dramas. I know as that was the time I took off work to head down south for some camping and mountain biking! (Bali next time) However meeting the fellas in Busselton was a highlight and nice blokes they are too. It was a chance to talk to the organisers of the now polished off and well planned "Down South Drive Inn" event - something to look forward to at the end of the year. "Spriggo" (Mark) and "65 Birch" Kim have promised to show up come rain, hail, and snow to the now monthly meet (see the calendar for more details of both these events) I recommend for anyone to take a drive down to the newly established down south gathering on the first Sunday - So if anyone needs an excuse to blow the cob webs off and charge that battery on your dust gathering VW there is now officially a reason! A big thanks goes out the guys for putting this together. While on the subject of events - The German car day usually in July, has moved to September so we have decided to replace the cancellation with a cruise to the coast instead. Meet at Hamburger Hill, Burswood for a cruise to Scarborough Beach Saturday 14th July depart at 2pm. Finally, a change in the magazine timing. Instead of receiving the ‘month’s’ magazine at the end of the month, it will now be at the beginning. This magazine is shown as June-July to make the switch over.

Saturday night at the local Hotel. While most of us had travelled down from Perth for the weekend, Gary Waters had travelled across from Dunsborough just for the day...well done. The organisers of the show made us very welcome and hinted at a ‘car club day’ in Bridgetown some time in the future.

Well I had a great time at the Cidery in Bridgetown, went for a scenic cruise through the countryside, bought some home made produce from the markets as well as a heap of fruit from road side stalls and stopped off for a good look around Balingup antique stores. It is a great part of our state and a favourite for me...hope to see more next time. The Editor

We all took plenty of fire wood and this paid off as temperatures dropped to a pretty fresh low. The trip down was an easy one with no issues with the motors. We were sitting round the camp fire chatting VeeDubs and the next minute 2 roos had crept up and joined our circle, perhaps to grab some heat from our fire - more likely the dog biscuits left by Troyy’s dog. We'll certainly be arranging more trips to this great location as it ticks so many boxes, so keep your eye on the Calendar on the website or in ViaWest. Happy Camping!

South West Monthly Gatherings in Busselton Sunday 10th June... We had the June SW meet today...and well the weather cooked up a storm. Even so 4 of us braved the rain and wind. It was a great surprise to catch up with Jamie (BJ) and thanks for taking time out on your way back to Perth. We had to park in a different spot than usual next to Simo's Icecream so a couple of use had one We then enjoyed a hot coffee in the Equinox cafe and had a great yack about vee-dubs (what else), the forum and the Busso drive inn event Before leaving we regrouped the cars for a photo shoot. For me the drive home to Margs from Busso was like a chicane having to dodge heaps of branches and trees on the highway. I gather that we were not alone in having rough weather. Kim We stayed in Busso for the night on Saturday to awake to yet another wet day, after a big break in town we checked out the Art gallery in the old courthouse before meeting the fellas in the carpark... Great to meet you, it is nice putting a face to the names. After we left Busselton being pushed towards Perth by the storm (cyclone) we found that Tourist drive through the Tuart forest was blocked by fallen trees so a U turn was made. The road back to Bunbury was also blocked by fallen trees and obstacles.

The Galaxy Drive-in Theatre, Kingsley (Perth) was opened in 1973 and is the only suburban drive-in theatre in Perth. There are however a significant number of drive-in theatres, and car-friendly outdoor cinemas still operating in rural Western Australia: Busselton Drive In Outdoor Cinema, Busselton Denison Drive In, Dongara Koorda Drive-in Theatre, Koorda Kununurra Picture Gardens, Kununurra Mount Tom Price Open Air Drive In Theatre, Tom Price Mukinbudin Drive in Theatre, Mukinbudin Pannawonica Drive in Theatre, Pannawonica Paraburdoo Drive in Theatre, Paraburdoo Wyndham Picture Gardens, Wyndham On the club front… The first drive-in in Perth opened in October 1955, the same YEAR and MONTH the VW Club of WA was born. YES, the VW Club will be 60 years old in 3 years time…looking for a year of special events!

The nation’s leading motoring authorities conducted an operating cost survey covering over 1,500 vehicles in 17 popular categories.
The All New Volkswagen CC: Styling and Technologies of the Luxury Class
The Survey includes costs that go with car ownership and are unavoidable if you own your own car, such as purchase price, depreciation, vehicle registration, insurance, fuel, scheduled service pricing and replacement parts over a When the Passat CC made its 5-year period. From this niche, a new segment quickly grew – to date, nearly 320,000 people around the globe have chosen the Passat CC: a luxury sedan with the stylish lines of a coupé. Private and business customers alike enjoyed the alternative to the classic sedan. Drivers loved the Passat CC’s timeless elegance, yet valued the space, comfort and convenience of four-doors. Volkswagen Group Australia’s Managing Director, Anke Koeckler, welcomes the result: “It is pleasing to see the Jetta honoured for its outstanding value and efficiency. experts both here, and around the world. In 2009 alone – in its first full year on the market – the Passat CC won the Australian ‘Design Award’ (Australian International Design Awards, Sydney), the ‘iF Product Design Award’ (iF Industrie Forum Hannover), the ‘red dot Design Award’ (Design Centre of North Rhine - Westphalia, Essen). Now, Volkswagen is presenting a technically advanced and visually enhanced coupé, the new Volkswagen CC. Standing still is a step backwards, which is why the team, led by Volkswagen chief designer Klaus Bischoff, has launched the Volkswagen CC into the future. Adopting Volkswagen ‘design DNA’, the new Volkswagen CC receives completely redesigned front and rear sections, giving them more precision and fluidity. As a result, the car has an even more sophisticated and dynamic overall appearance, making a bold move into the luxury class. Volkswagen CC’s comprehensive list of standard equipment now includes such features as the innovative Driver Fatigue Detection system; RNS510 Satellite Navigation; rear view camera; stainless steel door sill plates and front comfort head restraints with additional front-rear adjustment. New assistance systems are now available on the Volkswagen CC as well. They include optional technologies such as those found in the Driver Assistance Package Side Assist and Lane Assist, which warns of vehicles in blind spots and supports the driver via steering intervention, Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist and City Emergency Brake function. Meanwhile, the optional Active Climate Control front seats are now integrated with a gentle massage function, optimising driver comfort (available only in conjunction with Black Nappa leather appointed seat upholstery).
The Volkswagen CC can be powered by either a petrol direct injection (FSI) or diesel (TDI) engine and is equipped with BlueMotion Technology offering a Start/Stop system and battery regeneration, along with the frugal Coasting Function, all as standard equipment. The 2.0 litre TDI engine has a power output of 125 kW at 4,200 rpm.
technology as standard. Both state-of-the-art engines of the Volkswagen CC are designed to maximise efficiency. The frugal 125TDI is a prime example: it consumes just 5.7 l/100 km – which is very little fuel for a long range sedan.
The 3.6 litre V6 FSI engine of the Volkswagen CC develops an impressive 220 kW of power at 6,600 rpm and is paired with the 4MOTION drivetrain. Both the TDI and the FSI engines are paired with Volkswagen’s 6 -speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) including Sports Mode and Triptronic Function. Those considering the V6 FSI Volkswagen CC will receive 4MOTION allwheel drive
