Hi Club Members and Readers…… These months go fast (or perhaps it was because Feb is short month) Munster run is on our doorstep, Fairbridge is around the corner, Classic Car show soon, 60 Years club runs, WA 2016 Bug-In in the making, planning for a big Day of the Volkswagen already, Anniversary merchandise on the drawing board, plus the updating of all the social media sites, and this magazine! We are busy! So we need your help! We are always looking for article for the magazine – Have you been on a bit of a trip or brought a new VW. Have you got and interesting storey or some old photos, consider submitting a Member profile for us to publish. These all make the magazine interesting and diverse. I recently went on a little trip and scribbled down a story and included some pics…..I hope you enjoy them...page 12. I am looking to do another article in the coming months with night shots of members’ cars. I love taking these sort of pictures, you can get some interesting results. I will be organising an evening in a set location on a week night soon – turn up in your car and with your camera for either some lessons or just to have your car as a “model” perhaps you could be included in the pic. It’s great fun. Watch this space for more info. Jamie Barrett Club President

out a hint of trouble at the Cervantes Caravan Park. The CP had everything you needed for a one night stop over. We rose early (still dark) on Saturday morning so we could get to the Pinnacles for some picture taking, hoping for a cool sunrise. No reds or pinks in the sky but the clouds made for some good shots still. I spotted some tracks that looked like Kangaroo evidence and sure enough I followed them – it confirmed my bush knowledge was good! After a drive around the Pinnacles Loop and more picture taking we headed back to Cervantes to pack up the bits we left behind, showered, ate and headed further North past Lancelin and through Jurien Bay to Shady Cape. Turning off the new Indian Ocean Drive we were greeted by a sign that said “bush camp FULL” not detoured we headed down 6km of unsealed and corrugated road (which isn’t all that pleasant in a lowered and loaded bus) at the end
I am sad to say I couldn’t make it to the recent Ledge Point trip. I haven’t headed North in a long while. I drive a modern car (a Passat) as a daily and it has been 100% reliable. I also drive a 1969 Microbus when I get a chance. I like travelling with the club as it gives you a sense of security having others around to help out if needed. So I was a bit anxious about heading off without a support crew on my recent trip. With the expected crowds to see the Giants in town I chose to get away from the hustle and bustle and head to a spot that I had been told was “Cracking!”. We left on Friday afternoon and arrived withwas the bush camp. Driving around looking at all the spots taken up with big caravans and 4WDs was a bit disappointing. Travelling over 200km to find no spots – surrounded by picturesque white sand dunes and an amazing bay with inviting aqua blue water was a hard pill to swallow. As we turned with our tail between our legs a vehicle pulled out of a spot and left us what we came for! Perfect. The rest of the day was spent chilling out cherishing our patch. We climbed the dunes, swam, had drinks at sunset and cooked a tasty roast in the Cobb before some stargazing. The Stars are amazing without any light pollution. I couldn’t resist taking a night shot with the bus involved. The trip home on Sunday afternoon was a breeze to say the least hit with a strong head wind made it a bit tough but we were soon passing the city.

BODDINGTON RURAL EXPO AND MUSIC FESTIVAL, MARCH 21 **FREE CAMPING** Hi, this event is on again, bigger and better. It was a fantastic, relaxed and entreating last year, so post up on the Forum or contact me if you would like to join in on the fun. Basic plan would be to head down Saturday morning and put on a bit of a display of our cars at the show, stay there for the day and enjoy the musical performances in the evening. We are able to camp on the rodeo oval on the Saturday night for free. Shower and toilet facilities are available. If people are keen, it would be possible to camp over on the Friday night for $10 per person.

One of the oldest and most wellknown awards in Europe, “Car of the Year” has been honouring the best new releases in the car industry every year since 1964. The jury, consisting of 58 European motoring journalists from 22 countries, had nominated seven candidates ahead of the final. In the preceding months, these candidates had undergone detailed testing, comparisons and evaluations based on criteria such as economy, comfort, safety, driving characteristics, functionality, design and technical progress. In the 52nd edition of the traditional competition, the new Passat clearly triumphed over its six rivals in the final with a total score of 340 points. Two current Volkswagen models have already received the coveted award in the past, namely the Polo in 2010 and the Golf in 2013. In addition to the “Golden Steering Wheel 2014” and “Auto Trophy 2014”, the top position as “Car of the Year” was preceded by several accolades at home and abroad.

We expect that the Volkswagen Group will moderately increase its deliveries to customers year-onyear in 2015 in a challenging market environment. The difficult market environment, fierce competition, interest rate and exchange rate volatility, and fluctuations in raw materials prices all pose challenges. We anticipate a positive effect from the efficiency programs implemented by all brands and, increasingly, from the modular toolkits. Depending on economic conditions, we expect 2015 sales revenue for the Volkswagen Group and its business areas to increase by up to 4 percent above the prior-year figure. However, economic trends in Latin America and Eastern Europe will need to be continuously monitored in the Commercial Vehicles/ Power Engineering Business Area. In terms of the Group's Operating profit, we anticipate an operating return on sales of between 5.5 percent and 6.5 percent in 2015 in light of the challenging economic environment. The operating return on sales is expected to bein the 6.0 percent and 7.0 percent range in the Passenger Vehicles Business Area and between 2.0 percent and 4.0 percent in the Commercial Vehicles/Power Engineering Business Area. For the Financial Services Division, we are forecasting an Operating profit at the prior-year level. Disciplined cost and investment management and the continuous optimisation of our processes remain integral elements of the Volkswagen Group’s Strategy 2018.
