The new Passat Alltrack • New Passat Alltrack combines the best of on-road and offroad driving • Passat Alltrack with allterrain design and 4MOTION all -wheel drive as standard • Ideal towing vehicle with towing capacity of 2,200 kg and innovative Trailer Assist Wolfsburg / Munich, September 2, 2015 – Volkswagen has developed the new Passat Alltrack for all frequent leisure and business drivers who do not only drive on paved roads. The progressively designed all-rounder might also pull boat or horse trailers, covers long distances with effortless superiority and offers maximum connectivity. The estate and SUV crossover puts himself on the scene with individualized bumpers and flared wheel arches and transports – with a luggage capacity of up to 1,769 litres – the things needed in life.
The new Passat Alltrack is a car with features that keep what the design promises. These include modified bumpers with underbody protection, sill extensions (also fitted with underbody protection) and rugged flared wheel arches; all combine to make the body tougher while also lending the vehicle its own distinctive style. With a special off-road mode, that comprises a modified chassis (174 mm ground clearance) and permanent allwheel drive, the Passat Alltrack effortlessly tackles terrain that is otherwise the preserve of SUVs. At the same time, the Passat Alltrack is a comfortable and fast longdistance cruiser.
Euro-6 emission standard. The TSI develops 162 kW / 220 PS and a powerful 350 Nm. The range of TDI engines starts at 110 kW / 150 PS and 340 Nm; two further engines in the next power ratings deliver 140 kW / 190 PS (400 Nm) and 176 kW / 240 PS (500 Nm). The 240 PS engine is the highest torque engine ever to be offered in a Passat. A stop/start system and energy recovery system are included in the standard specification of every Passat Alltrack. Volkswagen offers the 150 PS TDI engine with a manual 6-speed gearbox. All other versions come equipped with an automatic dual-clutch gearbox (DSG).
At The 4MOTION all-wheel drive normally, only the front wheels are driven, saving fuel. But as soon as there is a risk of losing traction, the rear axle is smoothly engaged A turbo petrol in a fraction of a second. differential locks (EDS) integrated in the electronic stability control system (ESC) act as transverse locks for all wheels. In addition, the Passat Alltrack TSI with 220 PS and TDI with 240 PS are equipped with the additional function XDS+ on both axles. This system that is available as an option for all other Passat Alltrack versions optimises the steering characteristic when accelerating out of bends. The Passat Alltrack comes with driving mode selection as standard. In addition to the familiar “Eco”, “Comfort”, “Normal”, “Sport” and “Individual” driving modes (“Comfort” and “Individual” in combination with adaptive chassis control DCC), the additional “Offroad” mode is an exclusive feature of the Alltrack model series. Activating this programme with a push of a button adapts all relevant driving and assistance systems, the suspension and the engine and gearbox control to off-road use. It is also an ideal towing vehicle: the Passat Alltrack can tow a permitted trailer load of 2,200 kg on an 8% and 12% incline (braked) via its electrically folding hook. In addition, new Trailer Assist facilitates manoeuvring with a trailer as the car steers automatically when reversing. Moreover, a pioneering range of comfort, infotainment and driver assistance systems is available for the Passat Alltrack. These technologies include the latest ranavigation systems, a head-up display, “App-Connect” (Apple “CarPlay™”, Google “Android Auto™” and “MirrorLink™”), “Media Control” (tablet integration), “CarNet” with “Guide & Inform” (online services) as well as the ambient traffic monitoring system Front Assist including City Emergency Braking function with Pedestrian Detection that is a standard feature on board the Passat Alltrack.
The new Golf GTI Clubsport: Anniversary model to mark the 40th birthday of the Golf GTI • 265 PS anniversary model accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds • A boost function increases power output to over 290 PS for a short time • Expressive exterior with new front bumper, side skills, rear diffusor and multi-part roof spoiler Wolfsburg, September 9, 2015 – At the beginning of next year, the icon of the sporty compact class – the Golf GTI – is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Volkswagen will mark this historic event with a progressive special edition: the new Golf GTI Clubsport. Now Volkswagen is presenting the production version of the new Golf GTI Clubsport at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt and, on this occasion, offers a first look ahead at the driving performance of the most powerful production

GTI ever. The inventor of the “GTI” is thus continuing the big tradition of GTI anniversary models, as exclusive special editions also marked the 20th, 25th, 30th and 35th birthdays. The turbocharged directinjection engine in the anniversary model delivers an output of 195 kW / 265 PS, this is 35 PS more than on the previous most powerful Golf GTI. That, however, is far from all. For a short time – for about 10 seconds each time – the driver can increase engine power by an additional 10 per cent to over 290 PS using a boost function. This added power is activated simply by kicking down the accelerator. The Golf GTI sprints to 100 km/h in 6.0 seconds with a 6speed manual gearbox; the version with optional 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) is even faster at 5.9 seconds. The Golf GTI Clubsport has a top speed of 250 km/h (DSG: 249 km/h). A look at fuel economy shows just how efficiently the sports car converts engine power into propulsion. With a manual gearbox, consumption is 6.9 l/100 km (equivalent to 160 g/km CO2); if power is transferred to the front wheels by DSG, the figure comes in at 6.7 l/100 km (155 g/ km CO2). Not only has Volkswagen given the anniversary model's engine more power, it has also extensively revised the design, equip(Continued on page 33)

Due to the high power output and significantly improved downforce, the dynamic performance of the Golf GTI Clubsport propels it into the domain of top-class motorsport. This results in groundbreaking handling properties at high speeds and breathtaking cornering speeds. The Golf GTI Clubsport is painted in “Oryx White” (other colours available); as a contrast, the roof area comes in black. The Volkswagen exterior designers created a completely new front bumper, new side sills, a new rear diffuser, a new multi-part roof spoiler and exclusive forged alloy wheels for the anniversary model. These features immediately make the anniversary model stand out from the familiar GTI models.

land, Germany and Australia. Over the course of the ten rallies, the Polo R WRC has claimed a total of 19 podium finishes, thanks also to the efforts of Andreas Mikkelsen. Three title trebles: Volkswagen’s motorsport fairy tale continues The next chapter in a motorsport fairy tale: for the third time in a row, all three titles in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) go to Wolfsburg. As such, the Polo R WRC remains undefeated. When Volkswagen’s World Rally Car made its debut in 2013, it surprised many by winning the title in the Drivers’, Co-Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ Championships at the first attempt. In 2014, Ogier, Ingrassia and Volkswagen backed up this triumph by successfully defending their titles. The second generation of the Polo R WRC has now continued the success story in 2015. “Wedding Bells” the icing on the cake – Power Stage points for Ogier, Latvala and Mikkelsen Bonus points are awarded for the first three places in the closing Power Stage – and every one of these additional points went to the Volkswagen drivers and co-drivers. Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia clocked the fastest time, ahead of team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila and Andreas Mikkelsen/Ola Fløene. This marked the 61st, 62nd and 63rd time in 30 Power Stages that Volkswagen had picked up points.

He deservedly won the rally and is also a deserved world champion.” Andreas Mikkelsen, Volkswagen Polo R WRC #9 “I am totally happy with our performance and had a really good rally. We did our very best right from the word go – in the end we had to ‘settle’ for fourth place. Based on the actual driving alone, we could even have finished third, as we more than made up the 8.8 seconds we trailed Kris Meeke by coming into the final 70 kilometres or so. However, we were handed a ten-second penalty for checking in too late ahead of the midday service on Sunday. That was too much for us to make up, although we had a really good attempt. It is a shame that we ultimately missed out on our seventh podium of the season by just 5.9 seconds – but we have strengthened our grip on third place in the World Championship. Looking back, I am generally happy with the Rally Australia and am looking forward to the remaining rallies in France, Spain and Great Britain.” (Continued on page 40)

Jost Capito, Volkswagen Motorsport Director “What a fantastic rally. What a dream result. And what a great achievement to have wrapped up all three titles so early in the season. The Volkswagen team excelled itself today. Our drivers and codrivers had to pull out all the stops in order to finish on the podium here in Australia. Like the team behind them, they did a flawless job. You cannot be more proud of the entire team than I am today. It is always more difficult to defend a title than it is to win it for the first time. Defending it for a second time is an even greater challenge. The fact that our mechanics, engineers, drivers, co-drivers, physios and doctors, chefs and organisers have once again achieved superlative results and secured the WRC titles earlier in the season than ever before shows just what an extraordinary team we have. Everyone, without exception, is extremely motivated, and nobody ever takes success for granted. However, we certainly know how to celebrate – as we will prove today.”
And then there was ... ... a generous, friendly, affectionate, sporting, and definitely overwhelming gesture. To celebrate winning the World Championship titles, Volkswagen had prepared large congratulatory banners for success in the Manufacturers’, Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ competitions. However, they did not reckon on winning all three titles in one go. As such, there was scarcely enough space to hang up all of the banners. Malcolm Wilson and his M -Sport-Ford team generously offered to help out by allowing Volkswagen to use the freight container positioned opposite the Volkswagen service area. As such, the 40-foot container was not adorned in Ford colours for the final service at the Rally Australia, but in the colours of the French flag to celebrate Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia’s victories in the Drivers’ and Co-Drivers’ Championships. Merci!

However, nothing will stand in the way of the three world champions celebrating their achievements appropriately. The long-distance plane has its own cocktail bar...
And, last but not least, there was also ... ... a light-hearted wink. When the Volkswagen team took to the podium to celebrate its Manufacturers’ title, it did so not only adorned in blue World Champion t-shirts, but also, rather appropriately, sporting white Smurf hats.
