Personalized Customer Service AT LIVINGSTON PHARMACY
By Deborah Schapiro
R
ebecca Ruditser has a doctorate in pharmacy, but to her loyal customers, she is simply Becky. Ruditser is the owner of Livingston Pharmacy, which celebrated its ninth anniversary last February. According to Ruditser, personalized customer service is what sets her pharmacy apart from larger ones. This means everything from finding manufacturers’ coupons to compounding medications (making them from scratch) if necessary. As an example of the former, she cites a woman whose monthly co-pay for her son’s ADHD medication was initially $600, because there was no generic version. Ruditser helped find manufacturer’s coupon for the medication, and the customer’s co-pay immediately dropped to $25. Ruditser notes, “Since we’ve been here, we’ve seen a huge change in health
insurance, which of course impacts overall healthcare. Our customers are now looking to us for guidance as to when or even if they should use their health insurance when paying for their medication. Helping people navigate the system is now an important part of what we do.” Whether it’s medication for a senior citizen, a baby or even a pet, Livingston Pharmacy provides it with a large dose of individualized attention. Ruditser says, “I hope that people realize the value that we bring to the overall healthcare system, that bigger isn’t necessarily better or even cheaper. Small businesses play a large role in our country’s healthcare system and economy in general.”
