Coty is looking to sell its professional beauty division as part of an ongoing strategic review and focus on its cosmetics, fragrance and skincare arms. The company’s shares rose nearly 15% as it announced interest in the sale of business units that sell Wella, Clairol, and OPI brands. Looking to complete the sale by 2020 end, Coty will also be divesting Good Hair Day (GHD) as well as selling its Brazilian operations. Pierre Laubies, Chief Executive Officer of Coty, said, “Today’s announcement accelerates this transformation and will help reposition Coty as a more focused and agile company, deleverage our balance sheet, and improve our ability to invest in areas with the greatest growth potential.” The company will be using any proceeds to “pay down debt and return excess cash directly to shareholders” – showcasing the ramifications of the beauty giant’s setbacks since the integration of P&G’s beauty arm in 2015 and supply chain problems last year. It is thought to be majority shareholder JAB’s latest attempt at turning the ailing company around.

Celebrate in
Style As the world settles into the happiest times of the year, we went seeking top hair and beauty trends to help you turn out in your best for the celebrations. — By Isha Gakhar

Top bridal/festive trends: In today’s era, wedding hair has elevated beyond just a hairdo. Modern brides have a strong inclination towards hair colour too. The preferences vary — some brides like to take a traditional route, while others NitiN MaNchaNda are willing to experiment. Creative Head In either case, hair colour Wella Professionals should accentuate the bride’s natural beauty and elevate her confidence. This season, bridal hair colour will revolve around freehand and natural-looking techniques to compliment different textures and finishes. As for hairdos, you can expect to witness a mix of complete updos and half-open hairstyle, with a strong inclination towards braiding and teasing techniques. We will also see some interesting hair waving and peeling skills. 34 Beauty Launchpad India | 11.19
all/Winter or Festive/Wedding — either way, F/W 2019-20 is turning out to be a season of unbridled celebrations. With parties and weddings around every corner, it’s a busy time for our hair, beauty, and salon professionals too. But who’s complaining? Nothing better than helping people look their best for special occasions. While the tried-and-tested routes to eye-catching bridal/party makeovers can keep you going, what these happy time truly need is a boost of fresh ideas. So, we went looking for the top trends in festive/bridal make-up and hair, for F/W 2019-20. Beauty Launchpad spoke to industry experts and top salon professionals, who are at the forefront of festive styling. Here are some of the best makeover ideas, tips, and tricks to take your creativity to the next level.
Popular bridal styles among your clients: Soft balayage combined with babylights, in tones of subtle champagne and dark to medium blonde, can be styled into a lavishly textured updo using teasing, peeling and sculpting techniques. In fact, backcombing is one of the most appropriate methods with hues of caramel and Mocha, as it reveals the most natural and melted colour effects. Styling it into a multilayer side sweep and a side bun would be the desire of every bride. It is strongly advised to visit a professional Wella hair colourist for a thorough consultation, a few weeks prior to the wedding. You can select the right hair colour from the widest collection of shades from Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect, Illumina, and Color Touch ranges. A classic bridal look that fits into every season, occasion, and wedding theme: To me, a hair bun created using different braiding techniques is one of the timeless hairstyles. A hint of colour can add a lot more excitement and definition yet keep the essence of a bridal hairdo. With these elements, multiple possibilities can be explored to fit any season, occasion or theme.

Add to this, coloured lenses — just a slight shade different from the natural eye colour — are also a major transformation feature. Braids, buns, and messy ruffled hair are also huge — a lot of people are experimenting with tied hair, rather than just leaving it open. a classic bridal look that fits into every season, occasion, and wedding theme: Winged eyes, with soft gold hues and red lips. Try (Make Up For Ever, M.A.C Cosmetics, Estée Lauder), Eyelashes (a must-have for brides), M.A.C Prep + Prim Fix; and Benefit Pore Sealer Primer. “There is nothing in the world that can replace the fundamentals — look after your dark circles, make sure you drink loads of water and be happy. no amount of makeup can hide your unhealthy skin. Look for make-up that supports the mood of the day — if it’s a wedding, you should always opt for something that’s timeless. For the sangeet or mehendi, don’t be afraid to wear colours or flowers.” — Asha Hariharan, Founder & Director - Beyond The Fringe Salons
FeSTiVe hAirSTyLeS By Samay Dutta - Director, NOIR Salon Messy wrapped Ponytail: Whether your hair is short or long, style it with a low, messy, wrapped ponytail for your next card party. It’s a stunning substitute to an effortless pony or a braid and will make you look classy. The simple detailing of loose curls, parting, and pulling it low gets better as the night goes on. To add a touch of more style, pin on a matching hair accessory.

The dutch Goddess: This hairstyle is for those who love dancing their feet off and still want to look perfect at all times, without messing up their look. Start by making a Dutch braid from the crown area and then, take the rest of your hair up in a top knot. Get a bit edgy with glitter on the parted lines.
#ProTiPS By ViPuL ChudASAMA Creative Director Vipul Chudasama Salon & Academy Trends: In hair colour trends for fall/winter 201920, Bronzing takes the cake. Basically, the technique used is Balayage and like its make-up version, bronze shades are used to get the desired effect. Rose gold is another big trend, alongside caramel, mocha, and burgundy on the sidelines. On the other hand, highlights are completely out of trend and is making way for free-hand colour placement techniques that are more effortless and give natural-looking finishes. In terms of hairstyling, ‘effortless’ is the keyword. You just use one or two appropriate products that suit the hair type and leave it to air-dry. Or, you can opt for soft waves using big-sized tongs. The natural look continues on a high in 2019 trends. Tips: To learn hair colouring, it could take a couple of days or months. But to master hair colouring, it takes a lifetime. Make sure you keep training yourself, and play with different shades and reflects. Try to experiment before you offer options to the clients. See what formulas work for the client, because there can be many variations. For example, Bronzing has many possibilities — warm to cool and anything in between. No matter what’s trending, you can always turn it to your creative interpretation based on the client’s preferences, skin tone, lifestyle, etc.
Let those waves do the Talking: Half updos are unique and simple, but when you pair it with curls, it looks effortlessly flattering. This style gives your hair the needed volume and is a great option for the thin manes. This girl-next-door hairdo is perfect to go with your desi avatar — lowkey and yet makes the needed impact. The eccentric Sleek Bun: Festivities and flowers go hand-in-hand and this beautiful floral chignon will lift your entire look. All you need to do is, make a sleek middle-parted doughnut bun and wrap it with either gajra or delicate flowers, to add some drama. waterfall Twist: Suitable for all hair types, this hairstyle can be done effortlessly with just a few hairpins. The Waterfall Twist gives a well-finished and stunning look on both curly as well as straight hair and it looks incredible with every outfit.
“natural make-up and effortless hairstyling are in, for this season. Coloured lenses are huge as well as eyelash extensions. Cream blushers are preferred over powder blushers. And brides opt for sunkissed looks and soft lip colours. Cakey make-up is a big no-no!” — Ojas Rajani, Celebrity Hairstylist & Make-up Artist and Founder of Ojas Rajani Hair & Make-up Academy

Destination
Wedding
Prep tips by Ritu Kolentine
Bride Natasha Gunby and Groom Rob Gunby at Ramgarh Heritage Palace in Chandigarh, during their destination wedding
C
onsidering bridal make-up needs to hold up through every last dance, toast and selfie, it’s essential that you entrust this responsibility properly at a destination wedding. International makeup artist and aesthetician Ritu Kolentine Founder, Ritu Kolentine Makeover Studio and Training Academy gives a glimpse into the must-haves while listing and packing essentials to be a good destination wedding make-up artist.
Weather and location: Check weather and location with the bride and groom and plan accordingly. If it’s a beach wedding, hair has to be done differently and make-up has to be waterproof since weather has its own moisture. Check on the venue - if it is open place or resort.
counsltinG the bride: You have to do a consultation with the bride beforehand. Her likings, hair choice,
outfit details, skin type, etc., everything has to be discussed so that one can carry things according to her unique needs. Your make-up essentials depend on the kind of clients you plan to work with. Ask her about the photographer, lighting and theme they are following.
cleaninG: A perfect make-up artist is not the one who has all high-end makeup products. Sanitation, disinfection, hygiene, and skin protection is also a must.
have everythinG in bulk: You never know a few more friends of the bride or the groom’s sisters may want to get dolled by you on the spot. You should be prepared and get ready for any chaos. Take along extra hair extensions, hair pins, accessories and tools with you. Pack all essentials: Do listing and pack all essentials. This is the key to
surviving destination wedding assignments. Always pack the right things and not a lot of things. Take along every suitable expected essential including tools, make-up products, foundation for all skin tones, etc. 11.19

Beauty / Spa Review
Retreat in
Rishikesh
Panambi Resort & Spa in Rishikesh recently opened its doors to guests looking for a quiet retreat away from their busy city lives. Beauty Launchpad’s Isha Gakhar spent twodays at the property to experience its wellness offerings, which indeed was a much-needed breather for those who lead a hectic work life.
and promotional activities for the new property. Located inside the Rajaji National Park, between Rishikesh and Haridwar, the resort is within easy access of the River Ganga and Chilla Ganga Canal, and offers 35 rooms, a swimming pool, kids play area, open lawns, and a restaurant, thus appealing to both leisure and business travellers.
Neeraj Gupta, Founder of Panambi Vacations, discussed the property’s wellness offerings with us:
What is the focus of Panambi Spa? We are expecting a lot of clients from Delhi-NCR; there are a lot of people living stressful lives in the city due to pollution, traffic jam, etc. and our resort is a perfect getaway close to nature. Spa is a therapy familiar to India, since ancient times — we call it malish or massage; it is touch therapy that has been an Ayurvedic practice for hundreds of years. Hence, we are focusing on Ayurvedic spa treatments and hired a therapist with knowledge of different levels in ayurvedic massages. We also use natural Ayurvedic products like oils and salts, and recommend personalised treatments as per each guest’s concerns. My vision for this property is to transform it into an Ayurvedic centre.
I
f you are planning a digital detox, the lack of network connectivity at this location should make it easier to followthrough. Panambi Resort & Spa can very well offer you alternative methods to pass the time including safaris, river rafting and other activities that could be arranged on request. As for the wellness offerings, Panambi is equipped with a two-room spa focussed on Ayurvedic massages. The Abhyanga massage lasts up to 45 minutes, wherein a custom blend of natural oils are used to address the guests’ specific needs. It is a thorough recharger for the body and pain-reliever, with the healing oils working together to relieve stress and toxins from the mind and body. Panambi Resorts, a venture of Panambi Vacations, is expecting a growth of 25-40% in upcoming months with its strategic marketing
What has gone into hiring and training the therapist? We have a trained therapist — she is well-travelled and has extensive experience with international exposure as well. We are also looking to expand by hiring more staff to work under her. She will be training the new employees, especially in particular skills needed to realise our goal of transitioning from spa to Ayurvedic centre.
What are the next steps - any plans to introduce a salon as well? We are not keen to enter the salon business; spa treatments are our focus area. We want to convert all Panambi Resorts in the future, into treatment centres where guests come to relieve their stress — not only through spa treatments but also yoga and other therapies. 11.19

Beauty / Dermat Clinic
A New Age in
rajesh singh
CosmetiC Dermatology Rajesh Singh - Sr. Vice President, Clinic Dermatech, speaks about the latest developments and demands in the industry.
C
linic Dermatech was established in 2006 with a focus on offering world-class services in aesthetic technology. Currently, the brand operates 20 clinics across Delhi-NCR, catering to the full spectrum of cosmetic dermatology treatments. In an exclusive conversation with Beauty Launchpad, the company’s Senior Vice President - Rajesh Singh addresses the brand’s industry challenges as well as goals.
How has been Clinic Dermatech’s journey in the field of dermatology? Clinic Dermatech is focused on delivering excellence in cosmetic dermatology by employing high-end technology. We launched our flagship clinic at Defence Colony in 2006, with a broad set of three principles - first, the brand will not copy anyone’s footsteps; second, we will ensure every customer walks out of the clinic with a big smile on their face; and third, the brand will thoroughly operate 52 Beauty Launchpad India | 11.19
on the “Continuous Improvement” model. In the last 13 years, we have established a strong foothold in 13 cities, with 20 clinics operating at the scale of 95% customer satisfaction ratio, with 100K customers served.
How is the demand for anti-ageing treatments in India? Demand for anti-ageing services are touching new heights because of the rising awareness, accessibility, and globalisation. Certainly, the need to look good and its impact on one’s life has a large share in making this category a success. Since ageing is a natural process, every individual has to go through it. However, currently, people are willing to undergo revival or preventive solutions without much hesitation.
What are the challenges that this industry is facing currently? Expectations Management or Unrealistic
Expectations is a big challenge in this industry. If the customers are well-aligned with the deliverables, the success rates are very high. The problem starts when the customers’ expectations cross the realistic horizon. Secondly, as half-knowledge is disastrous, limited knowledge is the other big challenge. This applies to both the service provider and the customer. All service providers should educate the customer about the services’ functional flow before mentioning the benefit.
What are the services offered at Clinic Dermatech? Clinic Dermatech caters to the entire range of cosmetic dermatology from non-surgical to surgical procedures, but we generally highlight them in six broad categories: Laser Hair Reduction; Skin Care (Routine and Advanced); Body Shaping; Anti-Ageing; Advanced Hair Restoration and Aesthetic Surgeries.
Tell us about the photo facial and microdermabrasion techniques. Photofacial and MDA (microdermabrasion) are mostly termed as routine skincare regimes and don’t hold any pre-qualified
conditions. However, there are variations available in the technologies, which are only to be used for some critical indication.
What are the key innovations in the industry currently? The regular innovation on technologies focused on higher consumer benefits is constantly on the cards. The market is evolving and so does the innovations, as they are correlated. The latest breakthrough in this field is Triple Wave for Laser hair reduction technology, Cryolipolysis for Stubborn Fat Reduction, HIFU for Skin tightening and Q-Switched Lasers for Skin Pigmentation.
Fact file
Popular treatments: The brand generates 50% of its revenue through Laser Hair Reduction services followed by Botox and Fillers, Body Shaping, and Hair Restoration. The Advanced Hair Transplant and Aesthetic Surgeries are also gaining momentum, as these are the latest addition in the service kitty. Client profiling: On a broad measurable front, we cater to 80% women and 20% men, mostly hailing from the SECA. However, we foresee a growth in the men’s share, in recent times. Hence, we have planned to introduce specialised services, only for men. Future plans: We plan to penetrate into Tier 1 and II cities as well as extend our presence in areas where we are not yet present. But as we mentioned earlier, our belief in Continuous Improvement has always made our journey beyond the comfort zone. 11.19

How do you perceive beauty for a woman of 2019? Beauty is something that is completely subjective. We live in a world where the vehicle we live in, a.k.a. our body, is judged to fit the definition of beauty. But for me, beauty is anyone owning their personality, their confidence, their vulnerability, and their authenticity, a 100 per cent.A woman is truly beautiful if she is unique – someone who sees herself beyond her looks and truly embodies that.

2019 Goals: I have had the opportunity to work with clients around the world and of varying ages, from 17 to 70. The crux of their dissatisfaction and lack of self-confidence is always the same – not believing they are worthy enough. So, my goal for all of 2019 and for the rest of my life is to empower as many people as possible with happiness and help them become their best versions. Feminism to me: Feminism is complex and nuanced, and its meaning can only really be defined in the mind of the interpreter. For me, it’s owning authentically the woman you are, without fear of being judged or being treated as anything lesser than anyone else. It is about being able to do what you want to do in life – not waiting for others to give you permission, to be, do, or have what you desire. Cult ProduCts: I swear by Dove Oxygen Moisture for my silky, shiny and happy hair. But I am not much of a ‘make-up’ woman, so when I do dress-up, I like Lakmé’s Eyeconic Kajal and a simple lip balm by Enn’s called Butter Up.
How do you perceive beauty for a woman of 2019? For me, a person is beautiful when they are healthy, have fun, and enjoy life to the fullest. It’s always nice to see a well-groomed woman with a good sense of humour and living in the moment. Feroza Dalal is a leading consultant with specific focus on retail operations, merchandise planning, buying and visual merchandising. She has extensive years of work experience with India’s top designer stores and a vast network of established and budding designers. Her expertise is in monitoring and curating the designers and their merchandise, visual appearance of their stores, as well as mentoring them - especially in production, distribution, branding, and marketing. 2019 Goals: My goal is to work for bigger retailers. And to stay focused and continue to have a clear vision for my clients and their growth On the personal front, I am working to create a distribution chain for the designers, which will also be helpful to retailers who are interested in retailing these curated designers through this enterprise.
Feminism to me: I feel we all are equal and there is no need to shout out and ask for equality. Women have always played a stronger role since pre-independence and I don’t see why we won’t continue to do so. To me feminism is the independence of doing what I am passionate about and not worrying about what others think of it.
Cult ProduCts: I am not a diehard fan of any particular brand. Though I like to indulge in spa and skin care products, I don’t have any favourites. I am not one of those who feel a sense of ownership in the brands popularity or success. I use Oils of Life cream from The Body Shop, Estée Lauder Advanced Night cream, and Forest Essentials Sugarcane Scrub. A cult brand refers to a product or service that has a loyal customer base that approaches fanaticism. A cult brand, unlike regular brands, has customers who feel a sense of ownership or vested interest in the brand’s popularity and success.

How do you perceive beauty for a woman of 2019? I think that the advances in beauty technology have taught us that most answers are within. Eating right is perhaps the biggest contributor to beauty. Stay alert, aware and disciplined. And finally, remember that happy girls are the prettiest girls.
Anupamaa Dayal’s nomadic childhood created a high level of cultural osmosis and expression, drawn to nature, global gypsies, folklore, and raw beauty anywhere. While all that she creates is rooted in the Indian Spirit and created uniquely with ancient printing techniques, there is a bold lightness to them. She likes to set women fearlessly free to pursue their goals. Anupamaa is about happy clothes and happy homes for happy women. 2019 Goals: This has been an important year for me professionally. After 15 years of running the brand, I was a little listless. I was a little spoilt with the continued easy journey of the brand thus far. When the economic slump of the last few years came, my reaction was to run. Instead, I am now firmly in the driver’s seat on the growth path of my brand. My goal is not just to stabilize but also to look at new markets, new products, and new ways of doing business. Personally, I remain committed to self-improvement. I learn new things to add to my diet and physical activity regime. I work at enjoying every experience to its deepest, I enjoy sharing and I will continue to share all that I have learnt or own. Feminism to me: Feminism to me is a bond and pledge. Bond that I am part of a half of humanity, which has suffered, but has infinite potential. Pledge that I will play my part in being sympathetic, empathetic and help in the collective unfurling of this enormous potential. Cult ProduCts: I am not a jars and pots person. I use Virgin Kerala coconut oil for almost every skin need. My make-up favourites are Touché Éclat from YSL, learnt from the French part of my life and Studio Fix from M.A.C., used almost everyday.

R
elive the bridal heritage of three distinct regions in India - the North, South, and East - as M.A.C presents its new make-up looks for brides who to marry the lastest trends with sacred traditions. M.A.C Brides of India Collection reveals a series of wedding looks designed to take each region’s popular bridal make-up preferences to the next level of gracefully beautiful, elegantly stylish, and ultra-sophisticated beauty. According to M·A·C India’s Global Senior Artist, Sonic Sarwate who created the three looks, the inspiration comes from the golden thread that binds brides across India together - their gold wedding jewellery. “While each region has its unique aesthetic, auspicious gold jewellery underpins every Indian bride’s wedding day look. Like pure gold, the three trendsetting, culturally appropriate ceremonial looks that I’ve created will also remain classically timeless,” says Sonic. Sonic chose M.A.C ’s Art Library Eye Palette Flame-Boyant eyeshadow as the centrepiece for each bridal look. Inspired by traditional lip colours, he curated the perfect hue to enhance each region’s jewellery choices. “A long-lasting lipstick is a crucial make-up element on the wedding day. North Indian brides require a strong bold maroon red lip, so I chose Matte Lipstick Diva. As do Bengali brides, so rich matte Retro Matte Lipstick Ruby Woo pulled the look together like a charm. For the minimal South India look, Satin Lipstick Twig is subdued yet stunning perfection,” he says.
The norTh indian look A dramatic bold look defined by modern shimmery eye make-up, in deep coppery red with warm undertones of pearlescent gold. Extreme Dimension Mascara 3D Black Lash created the thick, defined lashes, and the eyes were lined with Technakohl Liner Graphblack. The gorgeous maroon red matte lip is fittingly named ‘Diva’. Contoured and highlighted skin comes from applying Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Medium Tan and Hyper Real Glow Palette Get It Glowin’.
The SouTh indian look Colour comes courtesy of the garland of flowers, gold temple jewellery, and an elaborate ornamental headdress. Therefore, this make-up look needs to be poised and understated. Skin is made picture-perfect by Studio Fix Concealer NC45, Studio Fix Powder NC43.5, and Strobe Cream in Goldlite. The standout feature is the cat-eye-like wings created by using Technakohl Liner Graphblack on the upper and lower lids. Satin Lipstick in Twig is perfect for a subdued, yet stunning lip.
Bengali Bride look Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo gives a powerful fiery blast of red and is the heroine of this stunning look. It works perfectly with the red and white bindis across the Bengali bride’s eyebrows, which are groomed to perfection with Styler in Stud. Pro Longwear Fluidline Blacktrack is used to create dramatic cat eyes and In Extreme Dimension Mascara 3D Black Lash adds volume to her lashes. The natural skin aesthetic comes from Studio Fix Fluid NC45, Studio Fix Concealer NC45, and Studio Fix Powder NC43.5

What are your plans for the brand - since it comes from Skeyndor’s table - how will you differentiate between the two? Jeannot Ceuticals is a mass premium skincare brand, launched for the Indian customers. It is marketed for consumers who want premium products at affordable prices. We have launched the product at salons that offer facials at `2,000 to `2,500. Since Jeannot comes from Skeyndor, it gives us the confidence that we can bring the latest technology and innovative ingredients to deliver quality results.
How do you plan to market Jeannot Ceuticals who’s your TG? We plan to follow the distribution network channel. We are launching the brand in metro and nonmetro cities. Customers in non-metro cities, who did not have access to quality products can now avail these services in their cities. 62 Beauty Launchpad India | 11.19

Every product contains skin lightening and brightening ingredients. All the latest technologies like liposome technology and stem cell technology with innovative ingredients are available at a very affordable price. All the lines are unisex and can be used for men’s skin. Since, the men’s skincare market is ever demanding and growing, we are looking at launching a special range for men’s skin in the future.
What are the plans for Make-Up Studio? Make-Up Studio is our professional brand that is present all across the country. The brand is doing well in the market because of the quality and presentation of the products. To raise the bar, we are keeping it intact for the salons/ professional industry. For expansion, we have tied-up with academies, salon chains and renowned makeup artists. Providing education is our focus and we are continuously working to enhance the skills of trainers and artists.
What’s happening on the training front? We are focused on improving the education level of beauty therapists, and hence we conduct various levels of training programs for them. We have a pan-India team of trainers, who are conducting in-salon training for therapists. We have a training academy in Delhi and some salon owners and therapists have got trained in our academy. We also do national and international level training. International trainers come to India and conduct training for salon owners. Many Salon owners have also travelled with us to Spain and had trainings there.
Tell us more about Depileve? Do you think waxing as a category is stagnat? How do you plan to make it attractive for the salon & the customer? Depileve is the no. 1 professional waxing brand from Spain. It’s a low temperature, lipo-soluble wax and offers many variants of strip waxes (Tin as well as Cartridge) and film waxes – which are virtually painless, hygienic and economical. Depileve also offers many pre & post-epilation essentials and accessories that make the salon professional. Waxing is the most profitable service in the salons and nowadays, people have moved to luxury waxing systems, which makes the process virtually painless. We have been training the therapists on the concept of speed waxing and have been conducting Depileve Day in many salons to increase awareness about the brand.
In the next 5 years, how does Ekta Cosmetics see itself? What would you like to be known for? Our goal as an organization is to be the leading light of the industry. We always work with ethics and are already known for it.We value education, eternity and quality. 11.19

GUCCI GUILTY Celebrating Guilt Free Living!
The Gucci fragrance story runs deep another time with Gucci Guilty Revolution with an underlying theme of #ForeverGuilty for truly liberated men and women.
#
ForeverGuilty perhaps defines the story of the shackle free existence of individuals who live completely free from life’s expectations, their connection natural and at the same time crazy and eccentric. The setting is the city of Los Angeles, with all of its saturated color, unconventionality and attitude. A constellation of cinema stars and a melting pot of cultures, a city whose eclectic people are accepted as they are. The protagonists in the new Gucci Guilty campaign are two distinctive celebrities who are also Los Angeles’ citizens. Academy award-winning actor and musician Jared Leto returns to the Gucci Guilty story, now joined by multi-platinum singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey. ‘In the campaign, the singer is glamorous and ethereal, the perfect counterpart to Jared Leto’s freewheeling spirit. They play two individuals who live their life and love outside of social conformism, captured in contrasting familiar Americana scenarios’. 64 Beauty Launchpad India | 11.19
Completely individual, yet fusing together naturally in diverse scenes, they are observed unobtrusively by the lens of Glen Luchford, visiting iconic Hollywood landmarks and quintessential American places. From scenes in a motel and the car to the laundromat, the beauty salon, the supermarket and a diner— where Courtney Love makes a cameo turn as a waitress. Marked by its verdant grounds and extravagant tombstones, the famed cemetery Hollywood Forever also appears as a backdrop. The location inspired creative director Alessandro Michele and lends its title to the campaign’s name #ForeverGuilty.
The NoTes The Gucci Guilty Pour Femme fragrance embodies this story of being uninhibited - its an Oriental Floral that brings richness and nobility to the original eau de toilette. The perfume is intensified, with ‘commanding’ ingredients Mandora, Pink Pepper, Lilac and Patchouli. Opening in the mood of the scent’s message, a top note experience is redolent with the citrus notes of Mandora—a fruit found in the Mediterranean island of Cyprus, smoothed out with natural Bergamot and Pink Pepper. The heart defines the scent’s new complexity. Lilac is contrasted with rosy and violet notes and layered with Geranium Oil to create a nuanced and individual floral blend. Defining the scent: a deep natural duet of Patchouli Oils; Patchouli Coeur and Patchouli oil Micro-
Distillation combined with Ambery notes, which leave an enduring silage—the time the perfume’s fragrance lingers in the air when worn. An Aromatic Fougère, Gucci Guilty Pour Homme is a member of the first fragrance family invented, now worn by a new generation of scent lovers. ‘Hedonistic and decadent’ to perhaps say the least, the scent opens with the piquant spice of Pink Pepper, mixed with invigorating Italian Lemon. At the heart, the non-conformist ideals of #ForeverGuilty coincide with non-conventional fragrance-making using Orange Blossom Absolute, a scent traditionally used in female fragrances and known throughout history as a symbol of romance and innocence. White floral with honey tones enriches the scent’s other heart notes, Neroli and French Lavender. Completing this modern expression of sensuality, mystery and intrigue are conjected in Patchouli which develops with hints of leather, green, woodiness and incense-like qualities. The dry down is intensified with the masculine richness of Cedar Wood. Packaging: New codes of sensuality are expressed in the tall, slender bottle shapes. Redesigned to echo the same silhouette as the counterpart men’s fragrance, the Gucci Guilty Pour Femme bottle reflects the equal standing of the women and men they represent. The shape is partly wrapped in gold colored metal, with a matching shimmering cap, reflecting the pale rose tinted fragrance inside. Gucci Guilty Pour Homme’s gun metal clad bottle and cap complements the warm purple-gray colored scent. Matte ivory and black packaging is accented with respective gold and silver logos featuring the House’s interlocking G.
