FACES enters skincare realm Launching Urban Balance, FACES Canada makes its debut in the skincare market. — By Ritoo Jhha

Sharmili Rajput, CEO, FACES CANADA

A

nti-pollution ingredients are not just a fashion trend but are likely here to stay. In fact, pollution protection is becoming as essential as UV protection, especially in highly polluted mega cities,” Lydia Gordon of Euromonitor had stated. Stepping into the antipollution skincare fray is the Indian brand FACES Canada. FACES CANADA, having established itself as a brand to reckon with in the colour cosmetic category, has lately revamped and relaunched its brand strategy with some serious re-positioning. Starting with appointing Sharmili Rajput, an experienced industry veteran as the CEO, re-branding and launching a TVC with Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon as brand ambassador for the first time ever, the brand has been reinventing itself. FACES also made its skincare debut with the launch of a comprehensive line of skincare products making clear its intention to traverse the entire landscape of beauty offerings for its target group. ‘Urban Balance’ is the new skincare line from FACES with a midsegment positioning in a range of `800 to `1200. The range includes face wash, day cream, serum, face oil, night cream and peel off mask. Says Rajput “We had a loyal customer base to expand and grow, and we realised that besides colour cosmetics, the next logical step would be skincare. We have launched a set of eight very strongly

positioned anti-pollution products, since studies have clearly shown that pollution is one of the top causes leading to premature ageing.” The brand specifically emphasises on drawing from the Indian heritage and Ayurvedic antecedents. “Our products have powerful Indian ingredients tried and tested in Ayurveda, to remove the signs of ageing and give a boost to the skin, such as moringa oil, aswagandha, jojoba, turmeric, or aloe vera,” she explains further. With a TG of 25 plus and aiming at being present at all 1300 POS (the current footprint of FACES Colour Cosmetics) across more than 100 cities, with premium packaging, the brand looks set to pose a serious challenge with a competitive positioning and aggressive marketing outlook. 10.18

he Salon Management Congress (SMC) powered by Zenoti, in association with Beauté Espace Media, returned with its third edition was held at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, on the 1st and 2nd of October, on the sidelines of Professional Beauty Expo. The agenda for SMC was to address the key concerns faced by salon owners and entrepreneurs and providing them with workable solutions and valuable advice. To this end, the teams at Beauté Espace Media Pvt Ltd and Professional Beauty India had invited top notch industry veterans to share their experiences with the audience. SMC had a full house on both days, with more enquiries coming forth from visitors to the Expo. The delegates comprised salon owners and aspiring entrepreneurs from all over the country. Before proceedings for SMC started, Ritoo Jhha, Editor and Publisher, Beauté Espace, welcomed the delegates and laid out the agenda for the two-day seminar. Her opening speech was followed by that of Vikas Vij, CEO, IDEX, the organisers of Professional Beauty Expo. He spoke about his experience of working with the Indian beauty industry and the hopes he has from it. As media partner for the event, Beauty Launchpad brings an exclusive report on the Salon Management Congress 2018, Mumbai.

Day 1 report SeSSion i: Celebrity Client Management Ritoo Jhha introduced the esteemed panelists for this session – Adhuna Bhabani, Creative Director, BBLUNT Salons and Academy, and Asha Hariharan, Founder, Beyond the Fringe Salons and Asha Hariharan Academy. While moderating

the session, Ritoo queried the speakers about the importance of working with celebrities, the dos and don’ts, salon and staff requirement etc. Both the experts spoke eloquently about their experiences of dealing with celebrities. While they encouraged the audience to work with known faces, they did not advice seeking them out. If your work is good, it will get recognised, both by your clients and celebrities. They pointed out that it is important to regard celebs, too, as clients and build a strong relationship with them. The session ended with a Q&A round.

SeSSion ii: empowering Women in Salons The panel on Women Empowerment had beauty heavyweights such as Nayana Karunaratne, Chairperson, Salon Nayana Chain of Salons and SN Academies in Sri Lanka & India; C K Kumaravel, CEO & Cofounder, Naturals Salon; Rekha Chaudhari, Wellness Ambassador & Managing Director – JCKRC Spa Destination Pvt Ltd; Rukmini Honawar, Creative Director/ Partner, Runah Salon; Sunita Pawar, Founder, Lookwell Salons & Academy; and Rochelle Chhabra, Professional Division Head – Streax Professional, Hygienic Research Institute Pvt Ltd. Ritoo took on the role of moderator and asked the panel questions concerning their contribution for women’s growth within the industry. While Kumaravel shared an interesting personal story, other panelists also added their experiences to the narrative. Since the rest of the panel comprised women, it was inspiring to hear each one of them speak of their struggles and achievements. The speakers then discussed the policies they have in place at their respective salons regarding empowering women employees.

Managing celebrity clients is an art. Salon owners need to understand the pros and cons of working with celebs before making it their prerogative.

Training gen-next in beauty

Nalini Naegamvala, the pioneer of India’s salon industry and an iconic educator, has many new ideas for hair education. She is completely devoted to the cause of helping the underprivileged. She shares her story exclusively with Beauty Launchpad.

H

air education in India is far better today than it was when I started my salon 45 years ago. We were the first salon to teach hairdressing as there were no schools back then and we had to train the staff in order to have qualified stylists working with us. Some of the finest stylists in the country have been trained by us and quite a few salon owners, too. I was interested in a salon with qualified staff hence the interest in education. In spite of being a busy stylist and a salon owner, I managed to conduct training (don’t ask me how!). Thereafter education became a passion, especially when we started training our helpers who in turn became our assistants. When Yasmin (erstwhile partner) and I started getting very busy, we taught our helpers to blow dry and hair set after we did the haircut. This worked out so well as we now could carry on cutting hair while these helpers did the hair set. As time went on, these girls from lesser privileged backgrounds brought their friends and soon this turned into a new career and also my passion. I realised how a woman with hardly any education, when given encouragement, can turn into a great asset to the salon, to herself and her family. What mattered is that we had helped a woman to make her life. This became an important career, and now is a major part of my life. I have innumerable stories of success of so many women who started their hair journey this way. Today, in my retirement years, I devote my time to the development of the lesser privileged and have various basic courses in hair, beauty and spa.

Heading tHe education brigade Whilst trying to get them placement after doing the course, I came across their friends or relatives who needed jobs. This sparked new interest in me. These women need some kind of employment/ counselling bureau. I realised that the poor, especially women, just need affection, guidance and help to get on with their lives. With this inspiration, I have collaborated with other associations for the education-onwheels project. We are in the process of finalising a bus, which will school young girls who are not allowed to travel far by their parents. It is an important project, which is being initiated by Salaam Bombay, FICCI Flo, and Masoom. These prominent NGOs have asked me to set it up and I look forward to this venture. A travelling school is an incredible idea as the bus will go from one area to another training students. This will take a while as there are various clearances required by authorities. I hope it comes through.”

Hair / Care

Scalp care for Healthy Hair Matrix presents the BIOLAGE ADVANCED SCALPPURE RANGE, the 1st Multi Corrective solution for 72 hours of scalp balance!

W

hen it comes to hair care, most of us look for tips and tricks that give you long and strong hair. While that is absolutely vital, caring for the scalp should be on top of your agenda - simply because it is where nourishment starts for every single strand of your hair. Trends pushes us to blow-drying, teasing, and texturing our hair with salt sprays on a regular basis. Excessive styling soaks up the moisture and natural oils from the scalp, leaving it dry and suseptible to various hair issues. Increasing levels of sun exposure and pollution adds to the damage of our roots, making way for more unhealthy scalp problems. The cycle continues, and leaves you with lustre-less, coarse, unhealthy hair that may look beyond repair. But there is a solution, and it starts with identifying and applying the right products with suitable treatments. The three most serious hair concerns amongst Indian consumers are Dandruff, Hair fall and Damaged hair, which in turn act as a barrier to gorgeous hair. These three concerns need to be treated independently, as they all have different adverse effects on the hair. While hair fall and damaged hair are HAIR concerns, the most common concern, which is dandruff, is a serious SCALP concern. Just as the condition of soil affects the growth of a plant, the condition of your scalp establishes the health of your hair. An unhealthy scalp is either too dry or too oily. Dandruff, oiliness, itchiness, sensitive scalp and scalp perspiration are common signs of an unhealthy scalp. Often, consumers tend to overlook the fact that hair needs, and scalp needs are different and hence require different, tailored solutions. MATRIX, the world’s leading American professional brand offers a professional targeted solution to help tackle all the scalp concerns with BIOLAGE ADVANCED SCALPPURE, the 1st MULTI CORRECTIVE solution for 72 hours of scalp balance. Combining nature and molecular science with Bergamot & Zinc Pyrithione, Scalppure combats a wide range of scalp concerns such as Dandruff, Oily/ Greasy Scalp, Odor and Itchiness. Biolage Advanced Scalppure cleanses distressed scalp to deliver visible and quick results.

Biolage Advanced Scalppure cleanses the distressed scalp and delivers visible results. Bergamot (The Botanical) is a citric fruit that has purifying and disinfectant properties that helps to keep the scalp clean. It naturally soothes irritation and helps regulate excess scalp oil production. It is historically renowned for its energizing, aromatherapy benefits. Zinc Pyrithione (The Science) is a powerful Anti-dandruff & Anti-bacterial agent that helps the s calp by normalizing skin cell production and thereby reduces the chances of Dandruff. The Biolage Advanced Scalppure range comprises of 4 products:

Scalppure clarifying Scalp Scrub: Matrix’s 1ST EVER PRE-SHAMPOO CLARIFYING SCALP SCRUB removes visible flake build up after every use. Beauty / Skincare

The ultimate skincare guide to

Glow this festive season

interview with Gunjan jain, national Educational Manager, Cheryl’s Cosmeceuticals

Gunjan jain, National Education Manager, Cheryl’s Cosmeceuticals What is the difference between Skin Brightening and lightening? Skin Brightening relates to the glow of the skin. It is the reflection of light from the skin or natural shine on the skin. Whereas, skin lightening relates to the practice of lightening the skin tone or providing an even skin complexion by reducing the amount of melanin in the skin. What are the skincare tips to follow this festive season? A healthy skin care involves a regular regimen that is followed religiously. It must involve a healthy diet consisting of a balance proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. Anti-Oxidants and Vitamin C in the form of fruits also help in providing nourishment to your skin. Other healthy habits like drinking Water and the Coconut water, help impart glow in the skin as it boosts overall skin health and keeps the skin hydrated, healthy, and plump Availing professional facials by qualified skincare experts can help boost circulation for dull and tired skin. Crafted with a special blend of three natural ingredients - Orange extracts, Vitamin C and Papain Enzymes, GloVite Facial Treatment provides instant fairness by eliminating dull, dry and flaky skin to reveal fresh, smooth and youthful skin. This specialized facial reduces existing melanin on the upper layers of the epidermis and effectively increases fairness, adding a luminous glow to your face. What are the key ingredients that are used in GloVite facial and how do they help reduce darkening? There are many effective ingredients in this 48  Beauty Launchpad India | 10.18

facial, let’s talk about the active ingredients such as Proteolytic Enzymes which exfoliates skin by removing all dead skin from the superficial layer of the skin. It has Almond Oil which is high in protein and helps in energizing & nourishing the skin. It also contains Orange Herbal Complex with vitamins C that smoothens, tightens and lightens skin. Is this facial suitable for all skin types? The Cheryl’s GloVite Instant Fairness Facial Treatment is suitable for all skin types except sensitive and acne prone skin. For Sensitive skin we have specialize service called ‘SensiGlow Facial’ and for acne’ we have the SensiAcne Treatment. Cheryl’s strongly believes in diagnosis led recommendation. Experts at Cheryl’s always provide a targeted diagnosis and check client’s skin before suggesting a suitable treatment. Here the knowledge of the beautician plays an integral role as they educate the clients about their own skin type and its needs. Can you elaborate on the steps during this facial? There are five steps in this facial. Powered with a blend of active ingredients, this facial instantly reduces melanin on the upper layers of the epidermis. It starts with Cleansing that helps in removing oil, dirt and makeup from the skin. This is followed by deep cleaning to remove dead skin cells with the help of natural enzymes from superficial layer. The next step is toning to constrict skin pores and maintain the pH balance and

hydration level which diminishes during the exfoliation process. We also recommend our clients to add skin lightening ampoules for better results. Our experts then massage the clients skin using an energising cream. This step relaxes facial muscles, improves blood circulation and nourishes skin imparting glow. Cheryl’s uses scientific massage technique, as it is important to follow correct massage technique for skin rejuvenation. Finally, a mask is applied that contains Vitamin C which helps to lighten and tighten the skin, leaving a fresh appearance on the skin. Which home care products do you recommend your clients post this facial? We always recommend our clients to follow a complete home care regime that keeps the skin healthy and nourished throughout the day. We suggest our clients to start with cleansing using the Cheryl’s DermaLite Face Wash that has a moisturizing and lightening effect which improves skin moisture barrier. This step must be followed with a moisturizer using the Cheryl’s HydraMoist Moisturizer which is known to be easily absorbed by the skin and gives it a soft, velvety feel. Post this, we ask our clients step out of the house using the DermaShade Sunblock that has a photo stable formula that provides the highest protection against UV induced burning and ageing. In the night we recommend our clients to use the O2C2 Radiance Lotion for skin repair. This lotion is formulated to draw out and enhance the natural radiance and shine of the skin that is more associated with young, youthful and glowing skin.

Discount Universe P

owerful women” served as the jumping off point for the bold look at Discount Universe’s S/S’19 show at New York Fashion Week. Using vivid colours, Maybelline New York’s Global Makeup Artist, Erin Parsons, paired graphic wings with a matte statement lip for a fierce finish. Here’s the decode of the look:

Get that look

2. To create the winged eyes, Erin sketched the graphic shape across lids using the Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil Eyeliner in Sleek Onyx, Lustrous Sapphire, or Polished Amethyst. 3. For high-impact lips, she applied SuperStay Matte Ink in Pioneer, Heroine, or Explorer. 4. A bright beauty mark drawn on with the Eyestudio Lasting Drama Waterproof Gel Pencil Eyeliner in Lustrous Sapphire or Silken Turquoise acted as the finishing touch. 50  Beauty Launchpad India | 10.18

F

rom the colourful tales emanating from the grand havelis to the brisk breeze sailing through the desert sands, Rajasthan’s Blue City is a traveller’s paradise. A unique travel moment here might sound out of bounds but amidst the grandeur of Ranbanka Palace you’ll find a staycation worth the indulgence of modern royalty. Ranbanka Palace — the name itself resonates luxury. Royal heritage translates into every aspect of your stay here, including wellness. ‘Spa by the Baradari’ is a 1050 sq. ft. abode of holistic healing with body treatments in a tranquil atmosphere. It’s easy to imagine yourself in the days of yore when the royals were pampered in similar settings. Apart from the rejuvenating massages, wellness services at Ranbanka takes on an exclusive character with attention to detail. A royal destination wedding here would be a dream come true. You can plan a little celebration within the grand indoor spaces or outdoors by the pool, with the wellness experts putting together a pamper session for the guests. Stepping into Ranbanka and breathing in the air of opulence itself is an energy booster with the ambience complementing your wellness at this embodiment of Rajasthani royalty.

Beauty Launchpad engages Sayyed Mohasinali, Deputy General Manager, Ranbanka Palace, Jodhpur on the wholesome heritage and wellness experience the place offers to its to guests. What can you tell us about the history of spa culture in the area? Did Rajasthani royals have any specific liking for spa treatments? The origins of spa therapies go back to prehistoric times with the belief in their curative powers. And, when we talk of Rajasthani royals, yes, of course, there was always a liking for spa treatments. But, even then there was a cross pollination of culture, tradition, therapies and healing massages that the royalties of Rajasthan had access to. So, the spa, at our property, has deep roots, having grown from some of the most long-standing health practices of the bygone era. How can you offer a wholesome heritage experience to guests, involving the wellness aspect as well? The spa at Ranbanka Palace echoes age-old beauty rituals, the rejuvenating power of touch, and divine smells chosen to promote biological change and harnessed from an incredibly rare level of organic purity. The exquisite ‘Spa by the Baradari’ at Ranbanka has been commended for its signature therapies. The scent of the kewara greets the guests, as they enter this haven of tranquillity. The spa offers a complete bouquet of re-energising and revitalising packages. A highly-skilled team of experts, at the spa, makes use of exclusively prepared skincare products, created only from the purest ingredients.

Since Jodhpur is on the bucket list for destination weddings, Ranbanka pays attention to holistic healing for body and mind. My experience here was inspired by ancient Rajasthani royalty and infused with modern day pleasures.

A wellness retreat...

My sojourn at ‘Spa by the Baradari’ was a royal experience. For a place that is synonymous with opulence, the spa does justice to the concept of royal body treatments. From the els ornate foot massages to back massages and facials, the Ranbanka ensures precision, attention and a holistic healing experience in each of their services. 10.18

When opulence meets perfection Striking a fine balance between modern minimalism and chic luxury, ‘The White Door’ creates a welcoming ambience that would put you at ease the moment you step in. Spread across 16,00 sq. ft., the spa interiors are dressed in soothing hues of white and pastels. In terms of the decor, Sana Dhanani, Founder of The White Door, shared, “Spas can often get engrossed in cold walls of practicality. The White Door was a vision to humanise the luxury experience and make it a warm and welcoming avenue away from the hustle and bustle of city. We wanted the spa to be radiant with natural light, so we consciously skipped dark colours and anything that opposed warmth. We consciously avoided lit candles, actively avoiding any cliché associated with spas. The colour theme was based around white and grey, accented with shades that are common to women and men alike. Minimalistic interiors, an anti-plastic approach, avoidance of anything loud and gaudy and to coat the edges in rose gold to give that final touch of elegance.” On my recent visit to the luxury nail and beauty spa, located on the plush Waterfield Road in Bandra, Mumbai, what clearly stood out was the professionalism and attention-todetail in their services. Being an avid fan of nail extensions, I reviewed their acrylic nail extensions. I was particularly concerned due to my short nail bed. The process started with removal of the existing permanent nail paint, followed by the application of an acrylic base. The finishing touches were done with a permanent nail colour in oxblood shade. The technician applied two coats of OPI’s maroon shade — to achieve the desired look.

The procedure took about two hours and concluded with a hand wash in a copper utensil, which you mostly see in spas during manicures, unlike the usual application of sanitizer in nail salons. Hygiene is most definitely a focal point at The White Door and is being followed religiously. The studio’s nail menu proudly hosts brands like OPI, Cuccio and Lechat, with an array of stellar shades to choose from. The technicians are experienced and their passion shows in the perfection achieved, while possessing enough knowledge to suggest the right treatments for better results. The shape and finesse of my nails lasted for about 10 days — though this definitely would vary from person to person. By Isha Gakhar

hanks to that special golden beauty glow, accentuated with fresh flowers on a chic chignon, the Big Boss fame Yuvika Chaudhary’s D-day beauty look turned out to be one ofthe prettiest we’ve seen in a while. Yuvika Chaudhary and Prince Narula recently tied the knot in a glittering ceremony in Mumbai, followed by a luxurious reception in Chandigarh. The #PriVika celebrations began with the mehendi night, when the bride stole our hearts in a lime green lehenga choli with gotta patti work. For her mane and makeup, she kept the boho vibe with tight curls, accentuated with a floral tiara. Her natural, fresh face completed the look. Mumbai-based MUA Vishakha Verma Singh worked with Yuvika for all her functions. She said, “We wanted all her looks to be classy and different on each day. So, the major inspiration came from her outfits.” Mehendi: Yuvika’s hair was curled short with a fresh, peachy make-up to complement the look. Her lips were kept nude to strike a balance between hair and make-up. Ring Ceremony: The bride amped up the hair game with a messy ‘do. We also loved the way she mirrored the shine of her ensemble with golden highlighter on her cheekbones. The look was topped up with matte pink lips. Sangeet: The bride wore a pristine white embellished lehenga. She nailed the look with a romantic braided bun, which was dressed up with fresh flowers. Decoding the beauty look, Vishaka says, “The sangeet look was all ‘bout a soft messy bun with white flowers and dewy makeup with a nude lipstick.”

IMAGE: EPIC STORIES

D-Day: The gorgeous Yuvika walked down the aisle in a conventional red lehenga that made her look straight out of a fairy tale. Her tresses were pulled back in a high round bun with a strand of gajra draped around it. Nude lipstick and a rosy blush were her wedding signatures, however the MUA swiped off the lids with super-fine shimmer.

We applied Bobbi Brown foundation on her with lots of Jeffree Star highlighter mixed with Too Faced highlighter. Lip shades were from Huda Beauty and eyelashes were by Ardell. White carnations and mogras were used for her wedding looks. We didn’t use hair extensions for any of her looks, but there were stuffings for messy updos.” — Vishakha Verma Singh, Owner of Glam Blush Makeup Academy & Studio 10.18

Business / Women Entrepreneurs

Leading the beauty biz Beauty Launchpad has always rooted for women entrepreneurs. In this issue, we bring you the success stories of two young and dynamic women who believe in dreaming big and thinking out-of-the-box. — By Kanishka Ramchandani

Vandana Bhardwaj goes Big with Marie Claire Vandana Bhardwaj made a big splash in the beauty industry when she launched Marie Claire Paris Salon and Spa in India earlier this year. Roberto Bre, Global representative of Marie Claire, was present at the event, where Vandana announced opening 100 Outlets over the next five years via franchising mode. Hailing from the picturesque town of Solan in Himachal Pradesh, Vandana is a model, a business woman, a social entrepreneur and vegan activist. Beauty Launchpad engages Vandana into a tete-a-tete about her business plans for Marie Claire. what inspired you to get Marie Claire salon in india? Marie Claire is a popular brand worldwide and the magazine is well-recognised in India. We are a salon and wellness academy and we thought why not approach them. We had meeting with them and they were also quite inquisitive. It took one year to convince them as this was a different vertical for them. They had to study the entire business concept before they agreed. We provided them our goals for 10 years; discussed the loopholes that they could face are and we as a company can face; and also discussed the pros and cons in detail. We have taken their license for 20 years for India and we are giving them certain percentage of what we are getting. what kind of business plan have you put in action now? We are freezing the master franchises in all major states and cities in India. After that we will roll o ut unit franchisees. We opened our first salon in Bangalore. We plan to launch three salons in Hyderabad on the same day in October. who can approach you for franchisee? Any entrepreneur who wants to enter the salon business can approach us. We give them all the information and knowledge as well as training. In unit franchise, which is very new and fresh, they don’t understand what is licensing franchisee. So, we give them proper training for three days, which helps them to understand the inner working of a franchisee. how much time does the master franchise takes to break even? It depends on how quickly the master franchise is able to open more salons. It takes a minimum of two years cause in a year master franchise can open only 7 to 8 salons max. how has the response been so far for the Bangalore salon? It has been great! The best part is that customers liked the quality of the salon and didnt’ find it expensive. I am happy that they are happy! what marketing plans do you have for Marie Claire? or and branding exercises. Consumer satisfaction is our priority, which will result in word-of-mouth publicity. I might sound old school but that’s how I see it. 62  Beauty Launchpad India | 10.18

aishwarya sawarna nir talks aBout gloBal Beauty seCrets Aishwarya is a second-generation businesswoman. Her family has been in the business of healthcare for the last 12 years. After a stint with the media, Aishwarya joined the family business. That’s when sheG discovered that women are largely looked upon as consumers of beauty products. The fact that women across the world are creators of beauty rituals is totally ignored. That’s how Global Beauty Secret was born. Backed by latest scientific know-how, innovation and technological excellence, this new skincare and haircare brand unravels the beauty rituals from the kitchens and courtyards of women with unique cultural legacies around the world. Aishwarya is also into social work and loves to write poetry. Beauty Launchpad asks some key questions to this enterprising young woman about her plans for her brand. Global Beauty Secrets is rooted by three key elements – ‘Global, Natural and Woman’ and the same is aesthetically embedded in the brand logo. where did the idea of starting a skin care line come from? I always wanted to foray into consumer business and felt that as a women, beauty comes naturally to me. I also am passionate about skincare products that I use. I knew that if I were to make something, it would be in beauty. what research did you do before starting the line? Everyone is now talking about natural, organic and herbal. I visited a beauty store and found that the shelves were full of the same kind of ingredients. I realised that there are so many beauty secrets that women themselves have created – from Cleopatra to Noor Jahan. We all have a treasure of family beauty secrets that we was passed on to us by our grandmothers getting the ingredients and grandma’s secrets and making them into consumer goods; how did the whole transition take place? It was not possible for me to reach out to women individually in various countries and figure out what they are using. Whatever the women use is reflected in the popular tradition in each country. Like in India we have the Panchamrit ritual, in Turkey there’s the hammam, etc. In India, milk is used as a toner, while in Egypt honey and castrol oil were used on hair. I started putting it all together and reached out to my manufacturer and told him that I want to develop a product like this. Can you take me through your production process? Some of the ingredients that we have like Adzuki beans and the Turkish Rasoul cannot be found India. The Rasoul is only found at the foothills of the atlas mountain in Morocco. In the product development process, my entire focus is on the culture because I want that when the consumer opens that mono-carton the magic of the culture reaches to them. what’s your vision for the brand? My vision for Global Beauty Secrets is that I want it to be as diverse and beautiful as the world around us. There should be no barriers or boundaries, only the magic that we have weaved in our distinct cultures. what’s your marketing strategy? I want to go heavy on digital as my consumer wants a lot of context. We have written so many stories at the back of our packs. I want to drive more context to my consumer through e-commerce. That’s my marketing strategy. how is the brand positioned? We are available on Nykaa.com right now. We will be on Myntra, Flipkart, and Amazon soon. We will be also available offline through select retail outlets. Getting our own store is in the pipeline. Since our story is, so new I want to have proof of concept that people love the story and they want more. In terms of positioning, we are placed between premium and prestige segments. 10.18
