Ocean has been selected in the NZ Maori Secondary School in 2020 and 2021, the latter as captain. In January 2021, Ocean made her debut for the Central Hinds in the T20 Super Smash against the Otago Sparks in Dunedin. Ocean captained CD U19 side to second place at their 202021 national tournament, and was part of the team that won the 2019-20 national title. Ocean is a key member of the Wairarapa Korus, and the St Matthew’s 1st XI that finished third at the 2019 Secondary School nationals, and second in 2020.
Jake has excelled in recent seasons, being the stand-out member of the Rathkeale College 1st XI Boys cricket side, a leader in the Wairarapa U17 side, and being selected for the Central Districts U17 side. Jake finished the 202021 season having scored 872 runs including three centuries for Rathkeale, averaging 59 for Central Districts, and 58.5 for the Wairarapa senior side including 70 not out v Hawke’s Bay. In that game he saved the game, in a defiant six-hour effort, after he was struck a severe blow with the first delivery he faced. Jake also performed with distinction for Red Star in the Coastal Challenge.
Jonty has been an exceptional player for the Rathkeale 1st XI and for the Wairarapa United Central League team over recent years. A creative attacking midfielder or striker with speed to burn, Jonty has also played at National League Level for Tasman United and the Wellington Phoenix Reserves. Jonty was a vital member of the Wairarapa United side that won the satellite section of the National U19 tournament in Napier in 2020, and the Rathkeale team that finished 14th at the Lotto Premier National Secondary School tournament in 2019.
Jayden was the only Wairarapa-Bush player named in a Hurricanes secondary school squad. Including a training camp for the growth of under-18 Hurricanes talent that provides opportunities for player selection into High Performance pathways. An outstanding season for Rathkeale in the Central North Island rugby championship and traditional fixtures. Jayden starred with two tries in Rathkeale’s 32-14 triumph over Wairarapa College, their first win in the local derby in 13 years. An outstanding athlete, and represented Rathkeale at the National and North Island Secondary School Track and Field Championships.
