10 PUMP-OUT SYSTEMS
LeeSan pump-out unit ‘on the move’

n a situation where a boat needs black water to be pumped-out, but access to a nearby pump-out station is not immediately available can cause problems at a marina or in a boatyard. Now, there’s a solution from marine sanitation specialist LeeSan, which has developed a new mobile unit called the LSM Caddy. Shown for the first time at the Southampton Boat Show last September, the pump-out kit installed on board a boat attracted considerable interest from marinas and river estuaries all around the UK. Mounted on a powder-coated steel pallet, it features a peristaltic pump, a 500 litre storage tank and all the hoses and connections required to do the job. Newhaven-based Peter Leonard Marine has already purchased an LSM Caddy and mounted it in one of the company’s outboard-powered Smartliner GRP vessels, providing an ideal ‘on the move’ pump-out solution. This versatile craft can also act as a workboat, water taxi and to provide a range of marine services, including a base for a mobile mechanic. Fitted with a filter lance, the unit will also pump out bilges, taking into account the need to separate the oil from the black water, and by using its built-in bypass valve can even be used to pump water from a sinking or submerged boat in an emergency. In addition to a vessel, the LSM Caddy can be mounted on a small (towable) trolley, a pick-up truck

or other moving platform. It can also be temporarily installed at a location for short periods of time and then re-positioned as required. LeeSan and PL Marine are looking forward to a long and worthwhile working relationship and to making the important job of pumping-out a faster, simpler and more convenient and environmentally-friendly process.
