A contribuição para a comunidade, inestimável. Rosane acredita que, ao ter WimBelemDon como mais um espaço de cidadania, que dá vida ao bairro, sua gestão na Evarista Flores da Cunha foi privilegiada – ela se aposentou em fevereiro de 2020, depois de 20 anos à frente da instituição. “Quando chegava perto da escola, já diminuía a velocidade. Era comum entrar no bairro e ver as crianças caminhando felizes para o projeto, ou nas suas bicicletas, com a raquete na mochila.” Para ela, o Belém Novo é outro em função do WimBelemDon – o projeto agregou seu valor a características pontuais e positivas do bairro, como a tranquilidade e o ambiente singular para curtir a natureza.

Rosane, como diretora, e toda a comunidade sabem da importância do projeto. “Não tem como não perceber o quanto as crianças evoluem.

Até os mais tiranos”, ela brinca. Seu filho do coração, como ela chama –que ela ajudou a criar em razão do pai alcoólatra e da mãe que lutava sozinha para sustentar a família – foi uma das crianças que participaram do projeto, desde muito pequeno. WimBelemDon serviu de alavanca para o crescimento do menino, para uma proposta de trabalho e para todo um projeto de vida.

Da mesma forma, centenas de crianças tiveram suas vidas transformadas. Conseguiram estudar, trabalhar, ter profissões, alcançar a formação desejada, cultivar valores e propósitos que deram mais sentido às suas jornadas. Cada uma delas teve a oportunidade de buscar seus sonhos.

E algumas estão fazendo essa roda dos sonhos girar. Quando crianças, foram educandas do projeto. Cresceram, em trajetórias pouco lineares. Assim como o WimBelemDon, tiveram alguns sonhos ameaçados, frustrados, mas se reergueram. Conseguiram. No entanto, não se contentaram em atingir apenas os seus objetivos. VOLTARAM AO PROJETO, AGORA COMO PROFISSIONAIS, PARA AJUDAR OUTRAS CRIANÇAS – aquelas, que elas foram um dia – a também lutar pelos seus sonhos.

Rosane believes that, due to having WimBelemDon as another space for citizenship livening up the neighbourhood, her tenure at Evarista Flores da Cunha Primary was privileged (she retired in February 2020, after leading the school for 20 years). ‘When I approached the school, I would slow down. It had become common to enter the neighbourhood and see the children happily walking to the project, racquets in their backpacks’. For Rosane, Belém Novo changed completely because of WimBelemDon. The project added its value to specific, positive characteristics of the area, such as calmness and the unique environment to enjoy nature.

Rosane, the Head Teacher, and the whole community understand the importance of the project: ‘there is no way of ignoring how much the children have evolved. Even the most terrible ones’, she jokes. Her borrowed son, as she calls him, whom she helped to raise because of his alcoholic father and mother who struggled alone to feed the family, was one of the children who participated in the project from an early age. WimBelemDon served as a springboard for that boy, for a job offer and for a lifelong project.

Along similar lines, hundreds of children had their lives transformed. They were able to study, work, have a career, obtain the desired qualifications, cultivate values and purposes that gave meaning to their trajectories. Each one of them was given the opportunity to chase their dreams. And some of them keep the wheel turning. As kids, they were pupils in the project. They grew up in nonlinear trajectories. Just like WimBelemDon, some had their dreams threatened, frustrated, but they picked themselves up again. They won. However, they were not satisfied merely with reaching their own goals. THEY WENT BACK TO THE PROJECT AS GROWN PROFESSIONALS TO HELP OTHER CHILDREN, like those they had been one day, to chase their dreams too.
